Since I arrived very early for the Yelp experience at Royce Chocolate, I needed to put food in my digestive system before consuming sweets, so I stopped at Pret A Manger. Only looking through the window of the 59th street location as I passed by, I was very unfamiliar with this chain, I thought it to be a full diner or restaurant. Much to my dismay, I did manage to find something here -- but it wasn't served hot. I went to the cash register and asked the gentleman and young lady. I had to ask their names ( Shaun & Jennifer) the both of them delivered exceptional customer service that will definitely generate repeated sales and retain customers. I was blown away at Shaun as he actually stopped what he was doing to help me find what I needed. Jennifer double teamed me with her service ensuring I didn't forget anything as she offered me a drink. I did have a 50oz of water that I carry with me, however, Jennifer's suggestive selling tactics INSPIRED me to look closer at the juices. I did find a grapefruit juice that I very much enjoyed. Lately for some reason I have been indulging in this drink. I purchased the rainbow colored sandwich made up of avocado, pickled cabbage & carrots, hummus, Miso sesame dressing, lemon juice, cucumber, arugula, and seasoning on a multigrain bread. This sandwich was actually really good with a robust lemon flavor to set it off. Although I could have enjoyed it a lot better if it were hot but nevertheless I appreciated have a vegan option. Suggestion- not everyone wants cold sandwiches or cold food in the morning, by having hot option available that would please the customer more. For it being the morning of the blizzard-- + everything around it being closed honestly it wax great. Most of the shelves were pretty barren though haha. I got a lentils soup and it was quite yummy. But they said that prices are as good as 2016 and I'm just not convinced they are priced low enough still for being a Pret. Idk it isn't the ritz but it's still good solid coffee shop food. The service was really great actually for it being busy and stressful and I'm sure the staff didn't have a great morning getting into work so I did appreciate all of them. Oh my god, I just left that place and I'm still feeling unsettled. I walked in, and was taking 4-5 minutes to choose between a salad and sandwich combo. One of the workers came to me and said "if you're not buying anything, you have to leave the place". I told him I'm buying. After I paid I went up to him and told him, literally "Honestly, that's a bit aggressive, telling people to leave because they're taking a while to choose". I was just hoping he'd apologize. This is one of the more larger and spacious locations I've ever been to. While I believe the London location I visited was the largest-- the space here was very ample. I typically take a later lunch, which means sometimes no soup for me (insert Soup Nazi voice from Seinfeld) but they still had an assortment of options. My go to is the Moroccan Lentil-- I was a huge fan of the Broccoli Cheddar however it seems post code, they no longer offer it. Nonetheless, Pret remains a wonderful option for lunch with their soups, sandwiches, and salads. I would definitely suggest this location as the staff was friendly, the place is spacious, and more importantly, they don't seem to run out of soup by 1:45PM like some of their other locations. FYI-- unlike most other Pret locations, the bread rolls that come with the soup are kept behind the counter instead of the basket. Feel free to ask a staffer for one. read more

For a chain, this particular cafe near Bryant Park was the perfect stop. I was able to select a hot lentil soup from a shelf and when I paid for it, was offered a crust, fresh roll which I gladly accepted. There is a wide variety of sandwiches freshly made as well as specialty coffees and desserts. Clean, bright and a clean bathroom! What more can I ask for? read more

I have never been to a Pret A Manger before and I'm very glad I stopped in. Though it is nearly double what Starbucks or Dunkin cost they offer better quality food and drinks. Wanted coffee during my day in NYC and was craving Blue Bottle, but that closes early so we had to opt for whatever was nearby which happened to be a Pret A Manger. I guess this is an NYC chain? I've never seen ine before but I thought quite several of them so decided to give it a try. I ordered the iced mocha -- the barista recommended adding caramel syrup so I did that. Also got some strawberry lemonade which looked quite refreshing. Our drinks came out shortly -- the mocha was pretty good. Very savory and you could definitely taste the cream. They only had half n half so it was definitely on the creamier side. The strawberry lemonade was absolutely amazing! It was so refreshing with the perfect amount of sweet and sour. I think I liked the lemonade over the coffee. Overall, it's a pretty nice place. It looks like they serve grab n go foods as welll so it would be a good place to quickly grab breakfast and some coffee. read more

Of course my 1st love when it comes to Pret A Manger is the flagship store on 4th Street- near Union Square. This Pret A Manger across the street from Bryant Park is my second favorite. Here are my reasons why? It is convenient across the street from Bryant Park. Sometimes the lines are so long at the eateries in Bryant Park and when you are scrapped for time. It's across the street to Whole Foods or Pret A Manger. Although this store is small and with limited amount of seating compared to the bigger Pret A Manger, the tables are always clean. Not like some of the other Pret on the Westside. The food are freshly made and healthy. Mac and cheese was a tad salty The wraps are really good- Got the Hummus Falafel Wrap Hot foods- Chicken Parm Always an Almond Croissant to get that sugar rush with light roasted coffee. They have lobster sandwiches too. Will get that the next time. Will be back again that's for sure. They will not provide receipt unless you ask for it. Great way to save paper and trees. Bathroom code on receipt if you need to use the restroom. Ask for bag if getting lots of items. read more

Usually I prefer a mom and pop kind of cafe but I like this Pret because the staff is so nice. They always have the coffee area well stocked with hot coffee and all the creamer containers are full and the sugars are full too. The staff is always helpful and so kindhearted. I am a big fan of Pret, and this is one of my favorite locations, reasons being that it's very big, has bathrooms, is across from the park, is on the corner and is naturally lit up and pretty, has strong WiFi, and staff is so nice. Their tomato feta soup is always a knockout - you just can't go wrong with it. Their food is so consistent! Their dark roast is great, and I love that they leave the almond milk out, versus other cafes (cough cough), where you have to go up to the counter and beg for some. No frugality here! Their sparkling water is not bad, but on the pricey side. They also keep filling up the self-serve til late at night, determined to caffeinate us til the minute they close! I came across this chain in Singapore, Malaysia, HK, and Taiwan..they serve extremely delicious wholesome coffee, treats, sandwiches, and soups made from natural ingredients. While in New York, my go to place was Pret A Manger. I was only in New York for three nights and I went to Pret A Manger (various locations) at least half a dozen times. Pret A Manger sells yummy, HEALTHY food. The prices are reasonable too. (I'm ignoring the fact that the Canadian dollar sucks and that I had to pay an exchange rate on top of it.) While the prices can't be considered cheap (cheap food no longer exists), the prices weren't over-inflated. Here in Vancouver, "healthy" food is way overpriced ($10 for a salad?! Fuck off!) but Pret A Manger's prices were on par with unhealthy garbage food. There was a variety of food choices, as well as price points. I liked that if I just needed a little snack to keep my blood sugar up, I could buy something for under $5. That's rare. Usually I have to decide between unhealthy and cheap, or healthy and expensive. But not at Pret A Manger. I really liked the berry cups, veggie sticks with sweet pea hummus, and chicken and edamame cups. Perfect for a small snack to keep my blood sugar up. Everything also had the calories listed (I think it's some law in the States), so you could make wise decisions. Most things were fairly low cal, and even the odd item that had a high number of calories was still healthy. I really wish that Vancouver had something like Pret A Manger. read more

I like to hope that Pret is the rare company that treats its employees fairly and pays a competitive wage--not just for the social justice implications, but because otherwise, Pret is clearly a cult that is abducting youths and brainwashing them. In an era of specialization and competition, where I visit salad places to find they are now offering grain bowls to compete with the grain bowl places that are now offering salads, I rather appreciate how I can come here and get a soup OR a sandwich AND/OR a salad. Food is generally quite fresh and, speaking of competitive, their prices are quite reasonable for NY lunch standards. Pros and cons. The sparkling water is darn refreshing on a July day. Yum! Front of the restaurant is clean and the woman at the counter was friendly. However, you need a code to use the restroom, which was a mess. A great go-to coffee spot. I have the pret monthly coffee subscription, and it's well worth it if you live in Manhattan and drink coffee out often. Their oat milk chai latte hits the spot if you have a sweet tooth, or their flat whites with oat milk are also delicious. They unfortunately don't have many vegan food entree options (fruit and açaí bowls can be found), but some locations (not this one) have a vegan morning glory muffin. All in all not a bad coffee shop, considering the convenience and location. read more

I ate a fruit cup here (specifically pineapple with lime) and the pineapples were rather sweet to my surprise. Fruit cups can be hit or miss, and given that it was like $4 I was hoping it would be doubly good. The front has the coffee where you can serve yourself. But I think as it gets later in the night, they start to run out pretty fast, but it looks like they will brew more anyway. read more

I tried for decaf iced coffee but they didn't have any. So I settled for iced tea, but they didn't have any of that either. In addition you can see what is going on in the streets by looking at the windows if you are in need of motivation or to be curious on what people do nowadays. The customer service is good as they are polite and helpful. I mistakenly dropped my coffee's cup lid and they replaced it immediately. Ghastly experience at this location this morning. Last day in NYC for a weekend vaycay and stopped here for a coffee before heading to the airport. Front doors were blocked, sign said to use side door. Inside, the vibe was off, and my guess it had to do with the horrid service person who helped me and was rude to her coworkers. Snide, sarcastic, and unfriendly are just some of the words I would use to describe her treatment of us and her colleagues. My mocha was flavorless, I threw it away after drinking less than a quarter.
