Ok. Again, I don't usually review chains, but I had a tastebud-changing experience at K St's Pret. I usually walk home after work, but it was absolutely cold and rainy. I had a pretty bad day, so I wasn't in the mood to make the trek that evening. I decided to take the Circulator (shivers) and as I still had 15 minutes, I went to Pret really quickly to grab a snack. Originally intending to go for a fruit pot, I walked over to the refrigerated section when my eye was caught by a beautiful spinach and tomato mac and cheese box. I decided to go for it as that way I could avoid going back outside for dinner once I got home. I'm not sure how much further I want to go with this review. Very clean store but SUPER busy with one of the most rushed and overworked coffee chain staffs I've ever seen. A bit of a jumbled madhouse in the A.M. If you don't know where something is expect a rushed and overwhelmed staff person to snap at you when they tell you where it is. They try to seem special by their fresh and organic signs but the menu shown doesn't show much for teas, coffee and pastries are not even shown. The Pret app I downloaded seems limited but nowhere do I see rewards. I really wanted to like this place but wasn't even offered a receipt until I asked. The table I sat at had a lot of crumbs on it and overall looking at the floor it wasn't clean. $3.29 for a small raisin croissant which was very good but felt way overpriced for the size. read more

I've always seen Pret A Manger all over DC, but never actually went in to buy anything. Let me say, the place was clean and all their products were fresh! They even claim that any foods they don't sell at the end of the day, the donate it to homeless shelters. What an impact! I tried their in-house peach green tea and bought some kale chips. The peach green tea was lightly sweet and you could actually taste real peaches in this drink. Talk about a health kicker! The kale chips were great. The place is a nice spot for group to hang out and get some snacks. The staff are also extremely friendly and I appreciated it especially coming into the store from the rain. read more

Can we please get one of these in California? It was so good to come across Pret during our visit to Washington DC, so good we kept coming back. Great to find a place that has healthier fast food options that is a notch up from Panera. Great and busy location but the service was great. They were fast and had great customer service each time we went. Awesome food options! The green drink was my standard go to and I really enjoyed the grilled cheese and tomato soup. This establishment was wonderful! I searched for coffee and tea shops close by and found this gem. The ingredients are fresh and organic. The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. I ordered the Chai Latte which was so good! I was able to sit and relax while drinking my latte. I enjoyed the atmosphere. The bathrooms and the establishment was impeccably clean. I'd definitely recommend this spot to others and would rate this as one of the top coffee and tea shops. read more

Since the incident I experienced in June described in my previous review, I boycotted this Pret until today. I had to work in the office on Sunday and there were not many places to eat on Sundays in this area. It was around 9am. I went to get my breakfast at this Pret. The cashier asked me how I was doing. I had to tell him that I was not having a good day because I had to come to the office to work. Then he offered me a coffee on the house. It was a simple kind gesture but this really brightened my day. I really hope other staff keep up with this kind of generosity and service.... read more

I'm a fan of Pret in general and this location for weekends. Not all Pret's are open weekend hours. It is also a little larger than some of the other locations. I know Pret can be on the pricier than some other "fast food" but I love that it is REAL food! I also think because it does cost more I buy the appropriate amount instead of super sizing and eating even more junk. A delicious breakfast sandwich and fresh juice just costs me $7.50 which isn't horrible. read more

Even if this is not independent or local cafe, I love it. Most items are made of organic produce, very reasonably priced and offered in so many different kinds (sandwiches, soup, snack and desserts). Was never really a big oatmeal fan but oatmeal was calling my name this morning and stepped into Pret to pick up a nice full cup of their organic steel oats and it was DELICIOUS!! I don't add too much brown sugar, just added their delicious and crunchy granola and wow the oats and the quality of it really spoke for itself. While visiting DC for the weekend, my boyfriend and I stopped by on our way to do touristy things. I am the coffee lover, he is not a huge fan. We try to eat as organic as possible and I was delighted when I spotted this place. It's similar to the Starbucks chain type place, but the flavor and quality is what makes this coffee stand out! There is no chemical bitter aftertaste. Even my boyfriend who does not usually drink coffee raved about this place and the fact that they offered sugar in the raw, which you cannot find at Dunkin. Five stars relative to what it is, a quick place to get good food for the price. Yes pret is a tad pricey but given their locations I understand about rent. The food is always fresh and I love how they've worked to diversify and increase their offerings. The lines move quickly and the cashiers are very friendly. By far the worst Pret a Manger I have ever visited. I ordered the buffalo chicken hot wrap and a small latte. The wrap was dry and had a weird cheesy taste to it..but once I finally got their "buffalo sauce", I gagged. It tasted like tomato sauce from the trash can. Such a waste of money. Luckily my sister ordered a salad and we shared that. The latte was a latte, nothing special. I will never go back to this location. read more

WONDERFUL. Visited it while on vacation in DC and I cannot recommend it enough. Coffee is quality and cheaper than Starbucks. My friend spilled her drink on accident and the staff were incredibly helpful in cleaning it up and even gave her another free drink. Organic ingredients, lots of recycling options and community involvement initiatives (they donate $$ from purchases and each day's leftover food to the hungry and homeless) make the whole Pret experience superb. Yeah. ..I don't get it. For an overpriced pre-made chicken and bacon sandwich, it tasted like a balony sandwich. Weird! That was my immediate thought when I bit into it, and I haven't had baloney since I was kid. Although I could see the thin pieces of chicken and bacon between the bread, it didn't quite taste like either one. I will come again, but I will steer away from the sandwiches and focus on the coffee and pastries next time. read more

We went to Pret almost daily when we lived in London so we were so excited to go back on our little trip to DC for the day. The food was basically the same; got two hot wrap sandwiches and they were pretty good! I find that most of the food at Pret is just pretty good. If you're just looking for a good (really it actually is good) cup of coffee and a good bagel/pastry in the morning when you get off the Metro, you should hit this place up. I like the coffee much better than Starbucks...trust me, I usually buy fresh roasted coffee and grind it myself, Pret is better than Starbucks. PLUS, the lines here are basically non-existent because the coffee is self-serve. Oh, also, it's much cheaper than Starbucks. Pret sold me a large dark-roast coffee (that didn't taste burned like at Starbucks) and a fresh multigrain bagel for like $3.20. So to sum up as compared to Starbucks: better/fresher coffee and food, dramatically shorter wait, and significantly less expensive. Oh and the staff is friendly, I like them. read more

Great staff, predictably good food, mostly consistent wi-fi, but LOUD. Really loud. Often unbearably loud. I mean, I know this isn't a library, but the music (and bass) blasting from the kitchen competes with the background radio, and when combined with the banal office building chatter creates a sonic vortex of headache-inducing proportions. Stopped in for a quick bite on a Saturday around 3:00. It was a busy weekend so there were quite a few people there, but it didn't take long to grab a sandwich and drink and find a table. It was decently clean here, and the sandwich was probably a little more than I would normally spend, but it wasn't too bad. It was my first time at Pet, so maybe I just don't understand the hype, but I didn't think it was particularly special or delicious. When they first openned they gave away a free lunch. I have to admit that was very nice. A free sandwich, drink and brownie bite. I then went back to buy a sandwich. The place has a decent crowd. They have a ton of staff. I searched the sandwich fridge and saw a turkey on wheat with pesto. It did not look like wheat, it looked more like their ham and cheese sandwich, but they all looked like that so I though it was just me. I paid and left, staff was very friendly. I get back to my office, which is not all that close might I add, and I was right, should have trusted my instincts. They had stacked all ham sandwiches where the turkey was supposed to be. I should have trusted my instincts instead of trusting this store .Geniuses, I hate ham and cheese. Busy Washingtonians don't have too long of a lunch break, you shouold be able to get somethig this simple right. Ok so that was human error, not the end of the world. But, once you open your sandwich it's a joke. There was 2 little pieces of ham, I kid you not. I should have taken a picture. They should be embarrased to serve these sanwiches. One of the few places around my office that's open after 7pm on a weekday. It's obviously not a foodie spot, but this location of Pret has a big space compared to others and usually is fully stocked with sandwiches, salads, and soups. The cashier line has at least 6 people working, so even during the morning and lunch rushes, you can get your food and pay quickly. It has two long tables with short chairs, a few high tables with stools, and several single sofa seats. I often see people with their laptops here. read more

On such a beautiful day I got crappy service at this establishment. New to DC I was overwhelmed as I hopped off the subway as I didn't know which way the museum was. We were on an evening DC date after hitting up the Holocaust museum. It was about 6:15 PM and we wanted to find somewhere nice to sit and enjoy a light snack and nice coffee together. Everywhere we looked we could not find a spot that was open, despite Yelp saying they were. Close to giving up, we finally stumbled upon this cozy little spot and we did not regret it one bit! The barista is very friendly, and made sure we knew someone was ready to assist us. They had a nice selection of light foods perfect for what we were looking for, and the exact flavor of coffee we desired to kick off our Fall taste! The atmosphere was also very warm and cozy. All in all, we were lucky to have stumbled upon this place and do not regret it one bit. read more

Terrible service. Sunny was truly nasty. Treated me like a piece of garbage. For example when i asked her where the bathroom was she said its only for customers even though i had already bought a cookie. She gave me a look like I was robbing the place.
