TLDR; Owners were openly arguing in front of customers. My tech abandoned me because she's upset she didn't prepare correctly. I had to walk out. Would not come again. I was really excited when this place opened up. I'm the type of person that likes to get pretty intricate nail art and collaborate with their nail tech, so I went here three times just to give them a chance and see what they could do. The first time I went with my friend and her technician kept complaining that her nails are too short for the design she wanted. My friend told her many times that she needs them short for work. In the end, that's on the skill level of the nail tech and should not have been the customer's fault. My set went fine, my nail tech was very kind, and the art work was cute. Second time I went there for wedding nails, they said they could do the design and had their tech practice the design in advance since I sent the pictures early. My tech was actively getting trained on the job how to do the nails, which is fine, but the owner was making passive aggressive comments on how she has to keep telling clients the design will not be like the picture, only similar. I left with a "good enough" nail set because I was already there for a few hours. Third time, I gave them a photo of the design I wanted in advance and mentioned in the client comments when you book that I wanted them black and white. Again, amazing that they get their techs to practice, but hope was already dwindling. The day of my appointment, the owner showed me how the nail design turned out on someone she practiced on, and it looked PERFECT! I had hope my nails would turn out the way I wanted them to. Then things took a turn when her partner reminded her that I wanted black and white. She decided to have an argument with her partner in the middle of the nail salon about her wasting her time picking out colors and decided to not do my nails. Instead, she leaves the tech who is prepping my nails to carry on with an intricate design, plus there's communication issues between the two of us when I try to tell them what I want done. The tech tried their best, then visibility got overwhelmed because of the language barrier, and told me the owner would take care of my nails. She had already left me to do another client's nails that came in well after my appointment time because she was upset. Honestly, what kind of owner has an argument with their partner in front of clients and then proceeds to neglect their original client??? I wasn't going to wait even longer (I was already there for two hours) for her to finish with another client, so i walked out. I had never ever walked out on a salon before. The partner insisted I didn't have to pay for an incomplete job (my nails only had two layers of solid color without top coat), but I insisted that I at least tip my nail tech that struggled with me. read more

Update to the update. I was unable to return for the nail correction that they offered- which was very appreciative of having that option. I went back for my builder gel fill on my natural nail and was satisfied with this set. Shape is on point , almond and I like more slender and the tech did that for me. This time around they did have new colors that caught my eye like the cat eye chrome and a client next to me was having some airbrush art work, which is something I never saw before so I will be back to try some funner creative sets. Forced my husband to drive me 50 minutes to Hayward and I have no regrets. I LOVE love LOVE my nails. So excited to finally have found, a nail salon that knows about the Korean jelly nail trend. They have a wide selection of products that I've only seen on TikTok and instagram. I appreciate the attention to detail of my nail tech, Kieu. I DMd the salon my inspo reels and they went above and beyond to make me happy. Everyone was so kind. Decided to come here on a whim so I made an appointment for the day before. I'm a tired Mama and so I wanted to do a little bit of self-care for once. I frequently shop at Sprouts and so when I saw the Prettify Me sign go up above the stores doors I was excited to try this place once it finally opened. Technically now it's still their soft opening. I believe they're official grand opening is October 24th of this month. Anyways, I was able to easily book my appointment on-line. And it was all confirmed via text. Very easy and convenient. I got a simple cuticle cleanup and had a cat's eye gel polish finish. The owner was very nice and explaining the differences and types of gel finishes for me and help me choose the right one that I wanted. The education was really helpful because I'm not much of a frequentsalon nail person.. This being my first time in months / years, unless it's for a special occasion. The owner(s) are very proud of this salon and I can tell that they take much pride in how they run their business. They use single-use files and buffers which is very hygienic. I also asked how they sanitize their metal utensils and she said they have a machine. They also claim not to use any acrylic in house which is healthier and no toxic smells on the air. I also saw on the menu some organic options for those who are conscious of exposure to toxic chemicals. They also offered me water or something to drink as I got my nails done. I also appreciate that the owner told me what services I actually needed which would save me money. She respects her customers, much respect. My pedicure - 5 stars for Mason he was a dream! Lovely and really paid attention to detail. He got my mini toe nails in shape and painted them so well. The pedicure itself was also so boujee they have a little board with the "ingredients" on it I've never seen it like that before so lovely! My manicure- 3 stars if that. Unfortunately this is where it went downhill for me Layla was quiet which is fine but would just kind of yank my hands and I was pretty uncomfortable which is not a big deal! My biggest qualm was she sliced my cuticles on 3 different fingers and it happens! -but I've never had it hurt that bad and she didn't apologize or see if I'm ok and just kept it pushing until I showed my bleeding cuticles to my sister she kinda wiped at them and painted over them. Didn't even clean it before painting on top which was unfortunate. The color was super pretty but it looks a little uneven in places and when she was cleaning up the sides she wiped the excess nail polish on the back of my hand which was..strange? To make it even better, she dropped the brush for the top coat it rolled across the floor and she just stuck it back in the top coat and kept painting my nails...oof. Found my go to nail salon in the area! So many of us have experienced subpar experience and quality nails in Hayward salons, so we would have to drive a bit further to get our nails done. I'm glad this spot opened up in Hayward off mission, making it very convenient and in a great plaza with tons of things to do and eat as you wait. I got both pedicure and manicure here a couple times now. My most recent i wanted them to remove my previous builder gel, add a tip for one of my short nails, and an ombre look using builder gel. Total cost came out to about $80. The pricing here is slightly higher than other spots, but you get above average experience, quality nail techs, and more. I also love how they serve complimentary beverages such as sparkling water and champagne. The 3 nail techs I got took good care of me, and made sure I was fine while they were trimming my cuticles. The space here is new and modern, beautiful! For pedicures,they use disposable jets after each use making it more hygenic than other spots. The owner is super nice and always willing to squeeze you in, which I really appreciate. They usually offer drinks, and the service feels very welcoming. I really really liked most of the girls that I've worked with and my nails lasted forever. I would come back here again, minus Treu/ Tuei. Cons: My last visit was absolutely a mess. I think her name was Treu or Tuei, but she purposely thinned my nails out while trying to sell me on tip/ or something. She asked me if I wanted to adding on something to thicken my nails and I declined. I was kind of zoned out, and I didn't realize that she was drilling my nails down and buffing them with a drill. She also cut me a few times where I also bled. It wasn't until my gel nails were done that I realized how weak they got/ they were hurting, due to her over filing. They didn't even last a day before they bent and started chipping. I got them removed the next few days, which the did not use a drill to remove the polish. Now I'm working to heal my nails and they're finally growing out/ breaking. I've always had strong nails, and I hate that she did this to me. I made an appointment through their website for Sunday at 11 AM. I arrived a little early and grabbed Starbucks nearby. When I came back just 5 minutes later, the place was already packed! Walk-ins are available, but it's definitely best to book ahead. Mia did an amazing job on my nails. I got Gel-X with extensions since I'm trying to grow out my natural nails, and she explained that this method is a healthier option. I used to get acrylics with extensions, but they often left my nails thin and sore from the heavy buffing and LED curing. I also prefer Gel-X because there's no strong fume like acrylic. I am so excited that Prettify me has opened! I had my nails done with Emily which is always an amazing experience. I'm always extremely happy with the the outcome and overall process (so much so that I drive all the way from SF ). Everyone at Prettify me seemed very thorough and paid close attention to details (e.g., cuticles, checking in to see if I was happy with the color, the thickness of the lines, etc.) The salon aesthetic is gorgeous, clean, and relaxing. Everyone was super friendly . The pedicure chairs are sooooo comfortable and the table attached to them have the capability to wirelessly charge a phone (and are also wide enough to hold a laptop in case you have to get some work done while getting a pedicure). Added bonus: They also offer bubbly water, wine, rosé, and juices - so it makes for a great catch up time with girlfriends too! I have been coming to see Minh for a few years now, I even followed her from her previous studio to Prettify Me here in Hayward. That alone says everything about how talented she is. Prettify Me has an incredible selection of colors. It's honestly the biggest collection of jelly and cat eye polishes I've ever seen. The salon is spotless, all the equipment is brand new, and everything is single-use, which I really appreciate. But the biggest asset to Prettify Me is Minh. I had a bad experience.. I'm really surprised this place has all 5 star reviews. I know they newly opened and I'm pretty sure it's just the lady who did my nails as the other nail techs seemed friendly and conversational. Unfortunately, mine was pretty rude and rushed through the gel manicure. I'm a new mom of two so my husband said to go treat myself. This was not the place to relax and unwind.. Some red flags: first she rudely told me to stop using my phone to place my hands under the light and I mentioned the light wasn't on, and she apologized. Second, she cut my cuticle skin on my thumb really badly and blamed me that I wasn't relaxing my hands enough..... I didn't have a positive experience.
