My nail technician is always great and professional. They prefer appointments but can take walk-ins. I've had acrylics, gels and regular manicures and pedicures on my hands and am always happy with the outcome. I'm never coming back here. The person who did my nails was Mai. She's the first lady near the window when you walk in. First, she was removing my gel manicure using her nail. Then she didn't want to cut my long nails with a nail cutter and instead used a filer which really hurt because I wanted it really short so she was pushing really hard to file my nails short. Then she was cutting off too much skin on my nails. What hurt the most was when she used all different kinds of nail polish remover and alcohol where my skin was tearing off. I lovelovelove Pretty Nails! I used to be a nail salon hopper until I found this place. Ann and Lisa are my go-to girls for manicures and pedicures. They do amazing work! I am especially picky when it comes to nail shaping. Other places always ask "square or round" - I hate that question with a passion because if you pick square your nails end up looking like Chiclets. And, if you pick round they look like grape tomatoes. Ann shapes them to the perfect squoval shape for me and I couldn't be happier with her work. She's also a perfectionist when it comes to your polish. Sometimes I go outside of the box and ask for nail art with my gel manicure and it's always on point. There are even times when I go in not knowing what I want and she always makes great recommendations. The same goes for Lisa. She gives me the most perfect pedicures and is the prettiest and sweetest girl you'll ever meet. Both my manicures and pedicures last me AT LEAST two weeks. I recently moved out of the area, but still make an appointment every 2-3 weeks - it's worth the drive. I've also gotten my friend hooked on this place! Because I've always made appointments with Ann and Lisa, I'm not sure how the other ladies are, but every time I'm in the shop they are always with clients who seem like regulars so don't be shy! This place is CASH ONLY but it's not too much of an inconvenience because there are numerous banks and ATMs nearby on both Foothill and Honolulu. I had a gel manicure and a pedicure here.Many moons ago, I would get waxed here as well. Mai has always spent time, been patient, and really puts an effort to make the customer happy. She does an excellent job !! She spent an hour and a half doing my mani and pedi. I am pleased with the results. I also had major callous that was built up , so she scrubbed that away tediously.She's also sweet , but not in a fake, money hungry sort of way. She is just genuinely a nice person. I will be back. This is my first and last time here. Pretty nails should be renamed ugly nails! First of all, the place is extremely unsanitary! I'm a nurse and as a nurse I take cleanliness in between clients very seriously. They don't clean anything in between clients. When I asked them they said it is cleaned before each client. I didn't believe her so keeping a close eye they just went from client to client using everything from the same naim file to the same nail cutter! Disgusting! I don't need to catch La Crescenta fungus. The girl said the water was blue because it's sanitizer. I've never heard of such a thing so if it's possible forgive me, BUT I don't believe this B.S. When she said she was finished I swear it look like a preschooler polished my nails. I have come here a couple of times before and I have had a great experience, basically I had finally found the place to get my nails done all the time. Wendy does an amazing job and so does Ann but exactly 2 weeks ago on Tuesday September 15 I had the worst full set of my life and I don't mean to bash on the entire place since it all depends on the person who does your nails. Unfortunately I don't remember the name of the woman who did my nails but she did them so thin (mind you i did not say super thin) one broke the following day. I went on a short trip and came back on Saturday the 19 and went straight there to get my one nail fixed. Ann fixed it and then I went on my other trip to cancun for a week. My nails looked like crap the entire trip (which is the reason i got them done for) as soon as I arrived to cancun another one broke, when I arrived back to LA another one broke and not from the tip from hall way of the nail and then the rest started chipping. I got so fed up I took them off my self and they came off so easy!!!! when Wendy did them it took me forever to take them off and they didnt even lift, it took a month for them to even look old. I talked to Ann and of course she got on the womans side whatever happened to "the customer is always right" She didn't even offer to do my nails again for half off or ANYTHING other than "come over and well take your nails off and do a manicure" I already had taken them off and I don't want a manicure I want my full set!!!! Very wrong of you to not even work with me to try to keep a costumer. Not only you are loosing a costumer but all of my friends are going to stop coming here and the ones i was going to bring here too. I just want to start off by saying I am VERY picky about my nails. I'm one of those people who take forever to choose a color and when my nails are being done I'm watching every second of it and ready to say something if I have a problem. UNTIL NOW! I can get my nails and toes done without even worrying about it. I usually go to Ann (she is amazing, attention to detail and knows exactly what she is doing) but I've also had my nails/toes done by Lisa and Michelle who are excellent as well. Everyone is so nice and friendly, they even let me put my food in their fridge when I have some on me so it doesn't spoil in the car. Everything is very clean and well maintained. OH and the prices are unbeatable!! Some of these spa's and nail shops charge an arm and a leg for a gel manicure, but not this place. I have gone a few times, my nails have always come out so so. I have gotten Ann before, so is very rude and rough. I won't ever go to her again, my nails came out uneven. I also brought my sister with me 2 days before her wedding to get her eyebrows waxed. The waxing girl burned her! 2 days before her wedding!! When we brought it to there attention they didn't even apologize! I have to ask for an apology and demand my money back. I had to argue with the owner to get my money back for burning my sister eyebrow 2 days before her wedding. It was appalling! Needless to say, I will never go back there again! read more

It's not that Pretty Nails doesn't do great nails. A lot of nail shops do nails that look good. Their customer service however, really sucked. I was a regular customer that came in to get my nails taken off before getting a new set. Instead of soaking them and slowly removing the nails, the lady was so rough. She began trying to snip them off and I asked her to let them soak. She replied that she didn't have time and wasn't letting go of my hand when I tried to retract. She waved her hand at me and said, "Ehhh wait!" I got up and said I was no longer interested and left. I thought it was beyond bad service and haven't been back since. read more

I have been coming to this Salon for at least six years. I have been impressed with everyone I've used and all have done a wonderful job for me. Ann does a lovely job with my pink and white nails...they always last well over two weeks. She often will fix something for me on the spur of the moment or do a clean up for me and charge the bare minimum. It's hard for me to believe the review written by "Darling A." as Ann is always fair and works very hard to be sure her customers are pleased with the service provided. I've worked in Human Resources for 35 years and, if I had to guess, I'd say there was something more going on with Darling A than was stated in the review. They charged me to take off my existing gel mani and pedi even though I was getting new gel mani and pedi (they did not tell me there was an additional charge for this until the end). My best friend and I went to get our hands and feet done before her wedding. They only have about 3 slots for parking in an open parking lot so be careful where you park. I believed they were professional and did a good job. I was really bummed when I moved to La Cresenta because that meant moving away from my favorite nail salon. My mother-in-law, who also lives in La Crescenta, recommended this place to me. It's not bad. They take good care of you, but it is pricier than other places I've been to. I continue to come back here every month or so because it's literally a few blocks away from my house.
