    Nuggets

I stopped in on a weekday morning just after 9am. I'm not sure what time they open but their selection in the case looked a little sparse. Perhaps because it was early? I ordered the 15 pretzel nuggets and asked for a side of mustard. The woman directed me to a little self-service mustard station at the end of the counter which was great. She had to bring them out since she hadn't yet done so for the day. I got a little cup of brown mustard and a little cup of honey mustard. The pretzel nuggets were actually very good. Much better than Pretzel Boys but not quite as good as Gus'. The outside was a little crisp which I liked. I don't like when a pretzel is so soft it tastes like white bread and this one didn't. It had a nice chew. As others have mentioned the parking is a little tricky but I'd definitely stop in again the next time I'm in Affton.

The menu with a lot of great choices and cheese dips!

Great, new pretzel place in Affton! They have a very good selection of pretzels (nuggets, cinnamon sugar, brats, hot dogs, philly cheese steak and breakfast pretzels). Their pretzels have a nice taste and texture. The crust is a bit crispy with a nice, soft doughy center. I have tried several of the cheese dips too! The jalapeno cheese is my favorite and the brat is my favorite meat pretzel. They also have meal combos, so check those out for a great deal. I like that they have a fountain soda machine so you can get an icy soda with your hot pretzel. The staff are super friendly and welcoming. Some things they still need to work out is their somewhat disorganized ordering. When you walk in the door and they are crowded it is unclear where the line is vs. people waiting for their order. Maybe adding some clear markers or signs for the line? Also, they have gotten our order wrong a few times, which is disappointing to realize once you get home you got the wrong filled pretzel. It seems to take quite a while from ordering to receiving your food on days when they are not very crowded. Also, they have been out of items on the menu on more than one occasion. I am hopeful since they are new and still working out the kinks that this will improve with time. You should definitely give them a try or bring some nuggets and cheese to your office or next event!

Sub par pretzel shop. Been multiple times thinking it was just the time of day, each time we have received cold dry pretzels. Ordered nuggets, pizza pretzel, hot dog, and bratwurst. The pizza one was rock hard and hallow, the hot dog and brat were hard and cold. I'm open to trying them again since it's so much closer then others, but if you have the time there are much better options.

The best pretzel place anywhere. Hands down. Way way better than Pretzel Boys or Gus's

We found Philly Pretzel Factory online and saw they looked good so we gave them a shot! The business is pretty much just an ordering counter with a small bar to snack at, but no seating for groups... it's a take out establishment. The place looked clean and well lit, and I was quickly greeted by a friendly woman manning the store. Arianna determined my exact order was custom and offered to prepare the fresh pretzels as I waited, which I appreciated. Arianna revealed she is the owner / entrepreneur and obviously takes great pride in her business. Arianna sold me on a few pretzel dips, and even threw in some extra goodies for my order, which was done about 15 minutes later. The pretzels and dips were a huge hit; all of my family loved them and didn't leave any leftovers! This place is worth the visit if you've got a pretzel craving!

The service is "ignore until they flag you down." Food is alright, better than average for diners in the area with prices that are very reasonable. I prefer a burger as the meat of a slinger. They use sausage patties. The chili is perfect and the server/chef sent out over medium and easy eggs cooked to perfection. The ice tea is STRONG. Had to ask for a refill. Again, you'll get ignored. I tried some of the filling of the pie--it was just average. This place is clearly a mainstay for South County. I think it's worth coming at least once, but I have to say: I got some looks. It was like people needed to see and hear me speak fluent, accent-less English. Just keep that in mind.

It was the only place to get an UNsweet tea in Alabama back in the day. Ten years later, now living in Arnold, MO--land of chain restaurants--I went into McAlister's. I was pleasantly surprised by the ambiance, the music, the smiling faces and the really good--perfectly portioned sandwich. They customized it for me like I was at a local deli. Great to have a good sandwich (not hero or hoagie or sub) shop back in the rotation. One funny note. They have no trash cans in there, but they are not needed. People kept coming by to clean up after me. On my way out I had a wadded up napkin in my hand, looking for a trash can to throw it in. A guy with a green McAlister's polo on and latex gloves, looked me in the eye, and held out his hand to take my trash. I had to laugh.

I stood at the counter for several minutes without being acknowledged, and when I was finally helped, the employee seemed annoyed and rushed through my order without listening. To make matters worse, I found a broken toothpick in my sandwich, which actually hurt my gums. That's a serious safety issue and honestly unacceptable for any place serving food. The sandwich itself was also poorly made--ingredients were unevenly distributed and the bread tasted stale. The bathrooms were just as bad. The mirror had a swastika smeared on it, and it clearly hadn't been cleaned in a while. I also saw a worker go in and laugh after noticing it, which was extremely inappropriate. As an Ashkenazi Jewish customer, I found this deeply disrespectful and disturbing. The bathroom arsonists smelled like someone recently smoked in there, and there was trash overflowing from the bins, which made the whole area feel neglected and unsanitary. Overall, this was a very upsetting and unacceptable experience. Between the lack of basic food safety, poor customer service, and offensive, unclean environment, I will not be returning. I don't think anyone should either!

We were there on a Saturday afternoon and the restaurant was quite busy when we arrived, some empty tables when we left. We ordered the fried green bean appetizer to start after reading good reviews on them, I ordered the breakfast burger and my table mate ordered the sticky burger. When the burgers showed up about 20-25 minutes later we were asked if there was anything else we needed. I had to say yes, we were missing the green beans, but at this point we'd just go ahead and cancel that order. No problems. I won't go into details about everything but to point out the negatives that happened on our visit, my bun was relatively burned. Anyone in the kitchen could have caught that and taken a few minutes to grill up another. It took only about a minute for the bottom bun to succumb to the wet burger patty and become a squished piece of wet dough. The other big downfall, and this isn't much the fault of the business, but the place is a cacophonous mess. It doesn't come across perfectly in the video accompanying this review but the place was LOUD. We had to raise our voices to hear one another or speak to the server. Not somewhere you would go to comfortably hang out with someone, sit and visit for a few. Five stars on the whole, one star ding for the few things mentioned. But it's not a total loss, I'm sure we will be back for a second visit and to give an updated review. Maybe I'll try something other than a burger, we shall see! Ciao!
