You know, I honestly feel bad for giving this place a low score. I've been here twice recently. The first time I came, it was literally the best burger I ever had. Hot and fresh, seasoned perfectly. I was excited to give my money to a small business. I'm in this area quite often so I visited again a few days later...... and it was one of the worst burgers I've ever had. I didn't even finish it. It was over cooked and rubbery, and the seasoning that I tasted a few days previously? GONE. I was the only customer, so I can't blame it on them being busy or overwhelmed. Great dive. I've ordered here several times and get the Chicken Strips and sometime the Cheesesticks. Good comfort food, chicken is crispy and the cheesesticks are fried to perfect with the right amount of cheesy-gooeyness! They also deliver via Uber Eats, which is convenient when I'm in the area, but can't seem to get out to grab a bite to eat. Can't wait to try more items on their menu! read more

"Constant Companion" and I have driven by Pride Burger 10+ times (aka the number of times we've eaten at Hutchins). At first, we'd joke "Do you just want to go there?" as we pointed at the run-down converted gas station. It was funny to us because it's a 40+ minute drive up to McKinney. However, we decided to go to Pride Burger on Friday with the intention of stopping at Hutchins for a few Texas Twinkies afterwards. The gas station turned restaurant feels like a small town diner. Honestly, it gave me flashbacks of the places my grandma would take me to in her tiny rural town. So, it had some nostalgia working for it from the get-go. CC and I each ordered a burger, and we got an order of fried pickles and a Frito pie to share. That plus two waters was almost 20 bucks, which was pretty pricey for such a divey place. After we ordered, we grabbed a booth and waited. It didn't take too long. The fried pickles we really good! They were a little too salty but great with ranch. The employee even brought us an extra ranch because she noticed that we used a lot of it. The Frito pie was fine. It was my first experience eating a Frito pie, and it seemed to meet the expectations. However, I'd still rather have fries instead. That's nothing against this specific Frito pie though. It's just my personal preference. Now, on to the burgers. Mine was extremely mediocre. I took a few bites and left about half on my plate. This is not a destination for burgers by any means. However, it has character and some nostalgia working for it. I can see why the old ladies and young teens were there. It's probably a nice option to have for locals. read more

Located off 380/Kentucky, this old school burger, sandwich, chicken and snack dive has LEGIT Triple D vibes. If you are counting calories, this isn't your place babe. This is for people who don't mind grease stains and a good drive in. Wait? What was that? It's a drive in? Yes! It has a car port! It's small but there's typically always a spot. There's also indoor seating, but again...this is a small old well loved place. That's my nice way of saying it's not a Gordon Ramsay standard place. This is by far the best burger place I've ever been. Ever! The Mushroom and Swiss is my favorite burger but all of heir burgers are outstanding! And I usually ask for my fries to be extra crispy! The only thing that keeps this review from being better is that the patty on the bun is so small. Many of the bites are meatless. The meat flavor is on point. The bun is toasted to perfection. I was expecting a dive-y burger, but not at this level. Don't believe the hype. Their COVID practices are questionable, cash is their preferred method of payment unless you want an up-charge for using a card, and inside the place seemed a little grungy. In addition to having no flavor, the bacon was TURKEY BACON. Which might have been okay, if that was what he ordered. My onion rings were equally bland, and the fries tasted freezer burned. This place is a hidden gem. Driving by, it looks like a really old dive, so I've ignored it many many times. Finally one day I remembered to look the place up on Yelp when I saw that it had quite a good review. Decided to drive thru one evening and boy was I pleasantly surprised! You order right from the window, so you'll have a little bit of a wait for your food since they don't have a speaker to place your order in advance. That was okay, there weren't any cars in line when I went. The burger I ordered was quite delicious. The mushrooms were just okay, I'll try one of their many other side options next time. The other reviews are accurate...the prices on some things are just fine, but there are some items on the menu that seem very strangely priced. For example you can get a burger, fries, and a drink for $5...but the fried mushrooms side order (serves 1-2, about the size of a medium mcdonalds fry container) costs $4.50. So if you aren't paying attention when you order, you can easily end up spending up to $15 per person. Other than that, assuming you're not looking for atmosphere, Pride Burger is an excellent burger and a much tastier option than your typical fast food joint. read more

This has been our go to for an old school Burger Chef (old school reference) type of hamburger. This place is a time machine from the late 70s and that's a good thing. You will give your order to either a nice taller man with glasses or, a no nonsense man with a grey ponytail. You are not here for the ambiance. You are here for the white painted over bricks, the rusty exterior sign, the parking lot that rivals any street in the 9th Ward. You are here for the taste of nostalgia. The fries are always dropped when you order and lava hot for 30 minutes!. The shakes here are a gamble. Sometimes they're good, sometimes they are like milky water. But man, get a double cheeseburger "all the way", and enjoy! You will drive by many fast food chains that are ugly square boxes filled typically with employees who hate their job and you. Simple menu...cost effective Delicious food...we bought a catfish dinner and chicken tender basket. Which comes with fries and Texas toast, prepared fresh to order. The staff is friendly and helpful if you have questions about their menu. However the food isn't seasoned AT ALL, so I recommend bringing your own condiments. Because all they gave us was salt, pepper and ketchup and tartar sauce. No seasoning salt or hot sauce. Definitely worth a stop if you're tired of the same fast food. read more

I ventured out with my teen son to do a little volunteer work on a weeknight. On our way to the location, my son spotted Pride Burger. I had him look up reviews and while the place looked run down, we were surprised to see it had glowing reviews. On our way back home, we decided to give it a try. We pulled up and noticed we were the only customers. We were dirty from volunteering in a warehouse, so we asked for a restroom to wash our hands. The teen boy at the counter wasn't very personable. He handed me the key, and told me I had to walk outside and around to the back. It felt very gas-stationy as we made our way around the building in the dark. We reached the bathroom door and already decided we weren't going in by the looks of the outside. We walked to the car and "washed" our hands with antibacterial gel and napkins. We returned the key to the counter and ordered. The teen boy who took our order really struggled with basic customer service skills. He wasn't very helpful with suggestions and even stared at me with a blank face when I cracked a joke. My teen son winced in response and chastised me later for trying to interact. We ordered fried pickles, burgers, and curly fries. The fried pickles were really good. The burgers looked thin, however they had a great taste. My son said he could have eaten a second one. I was surprised at how good everything was. The atmosphere and flavor actually reminded me of an old burger joint I always visited as a kid in west Texas. I am fairly certain this is a family-run business. As we left, an older gentleman stepped out and thanked us for our business and told us to have a good night. He was much more personable than the teen cashier. I immediately felt bad for having started a two-star Yelp review in my head as I am a fan of mom and pop businesses and hole-in-the-wall places. I'm giving it three stars because the food here was pretty good. Beyond the teen cashier and the bathroom situation, our experience was good. We were on the hunt for a cheap dinner, Jessie reminded me of this place on 380. I've passed it a 1000 times yet never stopped. I was pleasantly surprised, I expected it to be more dive-y. It's a TINY diner. Order at the counter, sit down, they bring it to you. There is a LOT to choose from and it all looks good. This place does a great chili-cheese dog and they do a typical fast food fried burrito that you will remember. The burrito comes out with a molten hot center and nice and crispy on the outside. Ok I ordered a 1/2 lb burger meal and a shake which cost me almost $11. They added bacon when I didn't ask for it. The hamburger meat had no seasoning that in turn left me with a flavorless burger. Fries weren't salted and were undercooked. To top it off my chocolate shake wasn't chocolaty at all. I will say their sweet tea is great but not enough to make me want to go back. read more

They close whenever they feel like it, regardless of what they have posted. At least have a closed sign, that way you don't pull into their difficult drive through, rather find somewhere else than have to waste time turning around.
