    Burgers and fried pickles
    Alyssa M.

"Constant Companion" and I have driven by Pride Burger 10+ times (aka the number of times we've eaten at Hutchins). At first, we'd joke "Do you just want to go there?" as we pointed at the run-down converted gas station. It was funny to us because it's a 40+ minute drive up to McKinney. However, we decided to go to Pride Burger on Friday with the intention of stopping at Hutchins for a few Texas Twinkies afterwards. The gas station turned restaurant feels like a small town diner. Honestly, it gave me flashbacks of the places my grandma would take me to in her tiny rural town. So, it had some nostalgia working for it from the get-go. CC and I each ordered a burger, and we got an order of fried pickles and a Frito pie to share. That plus two waters was almost 20 bucks, which was pretty pricey for such a divey place. After we ordered, we grabbed a booth and waited. It didn't take too long. The fried pickles we really good! They were a little too salty but great with ranch. The employee even brought us an extra ranch because she noticed that we used a lot of it. The Frito pie was fine. It was my first experience eating a Frito pie, and it seemed to meet the expectations. However, I'd still rather have fries instead. That's nothing against this specific Frito pie though. It's just my personal preference. Now, on to the burgers. Mine was extremely mediocre. I took a few bites and left about half on my plate. This is not a destination for burgers by any means. However, it has character and some nostalgia working for it. I can see why the old ladies and young teens were there. It's probably a nice option to have for locals.

    Large fry empty! Delicious!

It's old school but delicious! Old building but very clean! I always get the number two with cheese, the fries are so good we get an extra basket and share it. Only place I eat the fries. Try it you'll love it !

We went here because the Hutchins line was too long... The food was really good! We got burgers, tots and fries. I recommend the tots!

A great place to enjoy a burger and fries with no frills. It is a great change from all of the chains restaurants in the area.

Burgers are decent, fries have no seasoning so used extra ketchup. Shakes are great. Decent prices.

Burger was small with little flavor. Thought the fries were good until I found a big black hair in them!!!! Yuck!!!! I won't be back!

Solid burgers. It reminds me of sonic burgers. The onion rings were good and the prices are fair.

Hey Capriotti's Crew and the world..... First I want to say that the sandwich I got was "the bomb"!…read moreHowever............ I am very displeased with the manner in which I ended up with what I "NOW" know was optional.... at an additional charge. Since the sandwich was basically a Thanksgiving meal on a bun, when the order taker/server asked if I wanted the gravy on the sandwich or on the side, and this being my first time to darken their door, I said, "on the side". My sandwich was a very reasonable $7.99. Ordered! Expect ill with tax to be $8.50-ish. NO.... $10.26. By the time it registered that something was amiss (by my thinking) she was wrapping up the order for me. I reminded her (I am sure she didn't have a clue about the story) of the mom and pop store that kept a hand broom by the register and on every order, they would automatically scan the broom. Most people never checked their receipt to know the difference and if they did it was chalked up to being an accident. That being said... I diligently searched the menu board for a side of gravy or an Asterix noting an extra charge for the gravy and it was not to be found... anywhere. She did not say anything acknowledging a problem from that side of the register. I wished her a happy New Year and left. I will be a repeat customer because the meal was great. But I should have had been told the gravy was extra. Now that I do know, I can't imagine NOT ordering the gravy. But it was a devious tactic to stick us with an extra charge that the person could kit show me on the board. Despite my rant, if you are a sandwich person, DO GO!

I feel like I'm eating at a different place than some of my fellow Yelpers. My wife and I have…read moredined in here twice, and had take out once, and at all times, the food has been excellent. We've stuck to the standards, classic cheesesteaks with either hot or sweet peppers, or both. Once, my wife got the BLT, which was good at the time, but unsurprisingly, the lettuce and tomato don't keep well, and the portions always dictate leftovers for us, so we'll skip that next time. The bread on our sandwiches has been fresh and soft, with no off notes either texturally or taste/smell. The meat and cheese have been tender and well seasoned, and at a good ratio to the bread. The hot pepper can really lean towards the hot side; I almost feel like asking for a third hot and two thirds sweet. :) Bottom line, we've had three great experiences here and are glad to have this restaurant so close to our home. Hoping some of my fellow Yelpers just hit them on a bad day, but it really works for us!
