January 2, 2026 - Big Oak Flat, CA We stopped here on our way home out of Yosemite. We left Curry Village about 7:45 am and arrived at the Cafe at about 9:15. After the drive out of Yosemite, which included braking for deer and a wandering dog, we were ready to chill out and get something to eat. There were only two locals in the restaurant when we arrived. The server was friendly and told us to sit anywhere we wanted, and then handed us our menus once we were seated. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The cafe is relaxed and comfortable, but small.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered an Egg Sandwich with bacon and cheese on an English muffin, with a side of fruit ($16). It was good, but the English Muffin was a bit too well done for my liking. Overall, though, it was a nice stop for us before continuing on our way home. Note: Restrooms are in the building with the mural. You must get the key from inside the cafe.

Stopped here on my way to Yosemite and honestly, I was really impressed. I ordered the steak and eggs, and the quality was excellent. The steak was thick, juicy and cooked perfectly medium rare, easily the highlight of the plate. The eggs were fluffy, creamy,l and cooked just right. The toast had the perfect crunch, and the potatoes were outstanding; crispy on the outside, soft and smooth on the inside and full of flavor. On top of the food, the staff were on point, super kind, attentive and welcoming. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They offer both indoor and outdoor seating and I highly recommend sitting outside if the weather's nice. The fresh air, bird sounds and beautiful surroundings make it a great stop before heading into Yosemite.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'm also really curious to check out their cabins next time. Definitely excited to come back and would absolutely recommend stopping here if you're in the area.

I was in the area staying at a Hipcamp to unwind after a few days in Yosemite. We stopped here on a whim and ended up enjoying it so much that we ate here twice during our two-day stay. First off, the service was incredible both times. The staff were so friendly, attentive, and really seemed to anticipate what we needed. We kept commenting on how great the service was. It stood out both visits. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The views are beautiful, especially if you sit out on the patio overlooking the hills across the street. The patio is shaded with a canopy, which made it the perfect spot to relax and escape the sun for a bit.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had dinner here first, right after a long day of hiking in Yosemite, and we were starving. I didn't even get a chance to take pictures because we dove right in. I ordered the Veggie Galore Burger and my boyfriend got The Classic Cheeseburger. Both were amazing. The patties were cooked perfectly and had so much flavor. We also tried their fresh-squeezed lemonade, which was divine with just the right amount of sweetness and super refreshing. When we came back for breakfast, I had the Veggie Skillet and my boyfriend got the 2+2+2. The skillet was one of the best I've ever had. You can tell the ingredients are fresh and high quality. The biscuit was a bit on the dry side, but still tasty overall. My boyfriend really enjoyed his breakfast, too. We'll definitely be back the next time we're heading to or from Yosemite. It's such a great little spot with great food, great views, and even better service.

We stopped here on our trip to Yosemite. It was not a far drive from our stay at Yosemite westgate lodge. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The outdoor seating was pleasant (in April) and the rose bushes were blooming.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was delicious and the servers were friendly.

What a great little spot for breakfast! We were staying nearby and one day we decided to have a late breakfast here. We sat outside and enjoyed the scenery while we enjoyed each other's company and the food. Super friendly and fast service this place is a definite "must try"!

The food is very good here. Its a favorite of the locals and a great stop on your way to Yosemite. Its in Big Oak Flat at the very top of the Old Priest Grade Short cut. Nothing fancy but the food is fresh, always served with a smile, and reasonable. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have about 7 or 8 tables inside and a great outside area in full sun.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] That seems to be the "in" place for most. They stop serving breakfast at 11. I love breakfast for lunch so Im a bit bummed. They are open until 8. They have great burgers (never frozen) and sandwiches like steak, BLAST, turkey, pulled pork, and sloppy Joes. They are very generous with their portions. They make their own potatoe chips and I love them. Fries are good too. They also have salads, calamari, avacado toast, and even Lobster and mac cheese! Its a nice stopping place.

Finding this here is like spotting a unicorn on the highway ! I am pleasantly surprised to find a beautiful spot in the middle of nowhere and also grateful that places like these preserve their charm whilst also serving good food. Enroute from San Jose to YNP we wanted to get lunch and found them . The setting is just gorgeous and despite it being a tad bit too hot to sit out we still did and loved it . The staff was sweet and kind and served some old school warm hospitality with a side of beers and food .Indoors is very small so if you have a bigger group prepare to sit out . They have a variety of sandwiches, salads and burgers and beers to go with it . Everyone in our party seemed to love what they got. Generous portions and very reasonable priced.

I arrived in here just about 11:30 am as they were transitioning from breakfast to lunch, and was told I could not order off the breakfast menu at that time. It was pretty crowded at that time, but quickly became empty as all the breakfast people finished and left. So I ordered a Chicken Club Sandwich which goes for $18.00. It was a nice sandwich and it came with a generous portion of french fries. The service was friendly and courteous, and it's nice inside. They have indoor as well as outdoor seating. I thought this was a nice place to stop for a meal along the road.

*hidden gem alert* This little cafe off the side of the road just outside Yosemite's North entrance was our favorite meal in Yosemite. Situated with a beautiful outdoor space and friendly staff, the grilled items on the menu belie a hidden grill master working in their kitchen. I had the bratwurst plate, which had two beautifully cooked bratwursts paired with fresh sauerkraut. The husband had the pulled pork sandwich, which he said it was one of the best grilled porks he has had, filled with smoky flavor. The prices are also extremely reasonable. Honestly worth checking this place out to get away from the crazy prices within the park and to eat some actually excellent food.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]We grabbed a table on the balcony. Very nice breeze and it was covered[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. We ordered, to share, Priest Au Poivre, Curry Braut and the Croquettes. The food is excellent. For drinks we got the Dust Bowl Brewry Lager, very tasty. Service was top notch. So the burger was tender, the bun got slightly soggy but that is expected for this type of burger and sauce on it. Fries are slightly bigger than shoestring. The curry braut, there had to be two of them in the appetizer (well worth it) nicely flavored as a sweet barbeque with a curry hint. Of course the chocolate torte was very good.

Stopped by this spot after a family vacation, and it was so worth it! The scenery outside is spectacular, with charming little shops inside offering good coffee and more. The food here is simply delicious! We ordered the ribeye steak, which was tender and well-seasoned, and the bean soup was tasty. The salmon sandwich was amazing, and the falafel sandwich was also delicious. The servers are very friendly and helpful, making the experience even better. This place is a must-see, and we will definitely come back!

My favorite is the classic bacon cheese burger, and I am trying to be vegetarian. My other favorite is going to the bathroom so I can use the ice crew key. Well worth the stop over till the Yosemite National Park. I agree with the view and what a location that is worth every penny they invested in it. The portions are really good and value is friendly to your pocket book if our on a budget while camping. Even though the indoor dining is quaint and cozy, the outdoor deck is just as inviting to enjoy pure California weather, Would love to check this place out in the winter too. Pleasant change from what we can get in the Bay Area. Enjoy! read more

We came here on the way to Yosemite, as most people do, and stopped because we had no service and didn't know if there would be another place to eat on the way. There is outside seating, but we chose to be inside in the air conditioning (we were told we could sit anywhere). In the late summer, this place seems to swarming with gigantic flies. I got a burger and friend got a turkey sandwich. The burger was overcooked, burnt and tasteless. The turkey sandwich was better meat-wise, but the taste was just odd (lots of nuts on the bottom dominating the flavor). Overall, the food is average and quite expensive, but I suppose this is the price you pay for convenience. As a side note, if you keep driving, there is a Subway and other places to eat, but I haven't tried them and can't recommend them, so don't feel like you need to make a stop here to eat. The cafe also has bathrooms (you need a key to get in) and a bunch of convenience items for people going to Yosemite like trail mix, energy bars, etc. One of the servers is incredibly nice and I should have gotten her name. read more

Great food, very reasonable prices. The owner/proprietor is climber Conrad Anker's sister. I forgot her name, but she's super friendly and helpful. A very pleasant experience. The view is stunning and it sits at the pinacle of a fantastic ride. Great destination for bike (motor or pedal). I was on the former but a big fan of both. read more

Sometimes I love going to some places for reasons other than just food and this is definitely one of those places. I want to say they make food really well. But other stuff is even better. Lot of times I get up early in the morning and drive to Yosemite. This place is a great stop to grab a brunch and head for a hike. Food: (8/10) Basic american brunch. But enough choices for red/white meat/veg. etc. Good coffee. Ambience: (9/10) : They have an open deck looking over the valley. :) Service:(10/10): I have been there 4 times and was always very well attended. Owner is very friendly and always ready to have a great chat. That just takes the whole experience to a next level. I am going in nostalgia. But imagine this: You are sitting out on an open deck in great weather. You are on your way for a hike/backpacking in the valley. Then you have engaging conversation about great hikes in the park/camping sites with the owner. You discuss varied topics over the coffee and head out for a hike suggested by him. Now days such experiences are rare. Value for money: (9/10) A standard breakfast costs about $13 with coffee. If you share with someone then even cheaper. Overall Rating: 9/10 read more

So leaving Yosemite we figured we'd find something on the way, little did we know it would be this gem. Heading down Yosemite towards SF stopped of here not knowing what to expect but what we got was terrific! Breakfast was delicious and fresh! Only had one server and one cook (that I saw) but cranked out fresh food for almost a full patio of people. great job! If your in the area grab some breakfast here beautiful scenery to boot!! read more

I, and 3 others, reached the Priest Station Cafe (hungry and in need of coffee) on our way to Yosemite. I was hoping to have some breakfast fare since it was only 11:30 (or so) a.m. Unfortunately, they stopped ordering breakfast at 11a.m. I overheard the waitress ask her manager (perhaps one of the owners?) where we could get breakfast. I had asked her when we sat down if there were any local breakfast options, so I thought it was kind she would ask, considering we were in the area for a few days. We all ended up ordering lunch and were very very pleased with our selections. I had the chicken sandwich, which was quite succulent. There were decent selections to choose from and plenty of room for lots of patrons. The view was great! If you can, sit on the patio and enjoy the fresh air! The staff was kind and I took notice that they were welcoming to all their guests. Our waitress could have been a little bit more friendly but I think that opinion solely comes based on the fact that the other waitress, on staff that day, was super sweet! Always smiling, always making sure she acknowledged every guest. I wish I had gotten her name to shout her out in this review. Either way, cool place to check out that dates back to the late 1800's. read more

This unassuming roadside cafe on our way to and from Yosemite consistently provides one of the best meals on our trips. Their burgers, fries, onion rings and house made potato chips are all among the tastiest and freshest we've had anywhere. A surprise was an amazing tomato basil soup - outstanding! Good service and clean, but very basic furnishing and decor,. Be sure to wear a jacket inside and to the separate restroom facilities in the winter. An amazing plus is the view from this ridge top perch. Highly recommended! read more

Went here for an early dinner on a sunny day. Patio is the way to go, with fresh air and rolling valley views. Gluten free so I got the indigeny cider, a burger w/no bun with spinach and feta, and German cheesecake (made with ricotta and has no crust). Everything was delicious and it is a solid meal compared to other offerings in the area. The German cheesecake is made fresh by Helga, one of the owners of German descent and it is yummy! My husband got the soup of the day - tomato basil and Bobbys salad and loved both. Wonderful spot to get delicious food, would definitely recommend. read more

If you are staying in the Groveland, CA area near Yosemite National Park be sure to eat here. The people are amazingly friendly. The food is top notch and fresh! Make sure you eat on the patio as the views are amazing!!! They even make sure you don't want to take a drink for the road. I really wish I had a place like this closer to home. For those reviewing and complaining about a breakfast to lunch transition have clearly never worked in or owned a restaurant. When in a small cafe setting, it is difficult for staff to maintain two types of meal at a time. This is why there are regulations on timing for dining. read more

Nice spot. Clean and friendly once the opened up to you. I arrived a bit before 11 and was told I had to decide immediately if I wanted breakfast as they were switching to lunch menu.....Ummm? Can I sit down first? As it was a Sunday, and the large group that came in right behind me wanted breakfast and were told no...I think they should rethink a longer breakfast time on the weekend. Just saying! I did get my breakfast: a yummy spinach and poached egg atop an English muffin. Nothing fancy....came with a bowl of not ripe fruit for $10. I think if they realized the melon was hard as a rock, they could have said let's sub to potatoes or something. It was a good sandwich, but not worth the price point (maybe add some hollandaise sauce and it would be on point....again, just saying!) The menu looked varied, so I think I will give it a go again next time I roll towards Yosemite. read more

Super good food here! I got the bratwurst with salad on the side. They gave me lots of sauerkraut too, half regular cabbage, half purple cabbage. Everything was delicious! And I strongly recommend the house vinaigrette, it's so flavorful even my bf who doesn't usually like vinaigrette likes it! read more

This is a fun atop at sunset with outdoor dining at the top of the grade with a great view. My daughter ordered the German 3 course meal that included an exceptional salad and roll. Her dinner choice was the German meatballs with rice and greenbeans which were good...but not great. Her dessert...black forest cake...was also just good. My vegan hamburger and fries were amazing and the service was friendly. You must order the dinner roll...or two...like a pretzel from heaven. read more

Came here while I was staying at a B&B in Groveland near Yosemite. The setting is beautiful- the outside deck overlooks the Ole Priest Grade Rd. and Rte. 120, with a gorgeous view of the surrounding mountains. Food was very good-burger and fries. Service friendly. Watch out for yellowjackets on the deck in the Fall, and if they bother you, just move indoors. read more

Stopped here for a bite to eat on my way out of Yosemite with my mom, two year old son, and three year old nephew. The waitress was great. It was super busy and she was still attentive and personable. I was pleasantly surprised to find out they serve beyond burgers. Nice place to stop to eat breakfast and admire the view. Pretty small place.. outside area looks much nicer, but it was cold and wet, when I visited. The food was pretty good, nothing too spectacular. I expected some unique dishes given the unique location. Kind of odd that they also sell little snacks and stuff. Overall, I liked the cool pictures on the wall, the unique location, and the food was average. read more

For each catered order, I selected the 6" (regular) lunchbox option. The meal came with a sandwich, chips, and a drink. The sandwiches were typically customized with sourdough bread, mayonnaise, mustard, lettuce, tomatoes, cheddar cheese, with meat options of either Ham, Salami, Turkey, and/or Veggie. The assortment of chips was by Miss Vickie's and the options for the bottled drinks were water bottles, sweet/unsweetened teas, diet soda, regular soda, etc. Each lunchbox was crafted and prepared to perfection. The sandwiches were extremely good, as the ingredients were delicious and fresh. For the April & May orders (group meetings of 10 people each), the pickup time was completed on time as anticipated. Unfortunately for the recent June order (group meeting of 27 people), I requested the pick up time @10:45AM. I had to wait an additional 35 minutes for it to be ready. This result caused me to arrive at my business meeting much later than anticipated. It was almost a good thing that I put 10:45am, because had I put a later time, I could have been super late. To me, perhaps this location doesn't have the capacity to make big orders scheduled on time. I will consider coming back for catered orders for a group of 10 or less. Anything over that, I will find another restaurant that will provide larger orders on time for pickup.

Located just outside Yosemite National Park, Priest Station Cafe is a convenient stop for hungry visitors. While the view from the outdoor patio isn't exactly breathtaking (it overlooks some hills and the highway), it offers both indoor and outdoor seating, which is a plus. The place was buzzing (no pun intended) when we visited - the outdoor patio was packed! This historic restaurant, named after a Yosemite pioneer, seems like a popular choice. My friend and I opted for breakfast skillets - my friend had the veggie skillet with sauteed spinach, bell peppers, tomatoes, and cheddar cheese, and I had the country skillet with sausage, bacon, and country gravy. Both skillets came with a side of salsa, sour cream, and a biscuit. The portions were generous, and the country skillet, in particular, was a decent, hearty breakfast. However, the highlight wasn't exactly the food. The biscuit was unfortunately very dry, and the potatoes in both skillets were a bit undercooked and starchy. The biggest issue, though, were the bees. The outdoor patio is apparently quite bee-friendly, and they were relentless in their pursuit of our food. It made enjoying a peaceful meal a challenge. On the bright side, the service was fast and friendly. Our server was attentive and helpful. Just be aware that the restroom is located in a separate building and requires a code to get in, which you need to request from the staff. Overall, Priest Station Cafe is a 3-star experience. The food is decent, the portions are good, and the service is friendly. However, the dry biscuit, undercooked potatoes, and persistent bees definitely take away from the experience. read more

A Hidden Gem Near Yosemite! This little side-of-the-road café is truly a treasure with a rich history. Everything we had was absolutely delicious, from the savory Sopa noodles to the perfectly seasoned deviled eggs. The spinach salad was fresh and vibrant, and the chicken club was a delightful classic. The pleasant deck eating area provided a lovely atmosphere, and the friendly, accommodating staff made our visit even more enjoyable.
