Three local restaurants...with a hotel attached? Yup. OK. So...south beach is weird little village and all the places in it are weird. Atypical. You get it. So the hotel is basically a check in desk in a corner of a restaurant. You shimmy past the bar to an elevator. And there are two floors of rooms up there. And a small, quaint rooftop patio and pool. Plusses and minuses. Clean. Good design. Everything is, however, just the slightest bit broken. The service is very thoughtful. The pillows are evil, uncomfortable pieces of garbage. Valet parking in conjunction with the restaurant. Works. Convenient. Not inexpensive. Weird that they are basically a restaurant but make no effort towards throwing a little breakfast together. Great location just a block from the beach and next door to the famous Prime 112 steakhouse. Our room was on the 2nd floor overlooking the main street directly outside Prime 112. It was fun to people watch from the room but note that customers stay, eat, and chat until well past midnight on the outdoor patio of the restaurant just outside the room. It wasn't an issue for us on this trip since we were coming from the west coast and sleeping late, but this might not be a great option for those with kids or wanting to go to bed early. The room itself had a really comfortable bed, a small desk, mini fridge, microwave, and stand-up shower. We used the valet parking service and it worked well for the most part - one time we called down to the front desk to have our car brought to us and we went downstairs after 10 minutes. Then we waited for another 10 minutes before approaching the valet stand and they had not yet even started to get our car. (Didn't seem like the message had gotten to them to get our car). The other times we called down were fine. The hotel is part of the Prime restaurant group and is a boutique hotel. I don't believe there was any breakfast offering - free or paid (at least we didn't see any). Overall, a good value compared to the other nearby hotels if you want to stay near the beach. But note, this hotel isn't on the beach itself. read more

Prime hotel, what a fabulous find on Ocean Drive! Elegantly decored and a top posh Prime 112 restaurant lounge, Prime Hotel is unmistankingly one of Miami's premium boutique hotels. With only four floors overlooking Ocean Drive, incredibly chic rooms, and rooftop pool, Prime Hotel is quickly becoming my favorite go to hotel in Miami Beach. The staff is attentive and willing to accomodate. I celebrated my birthday here and was pleasantely surprised with the "attention to detail and no fuss attitude" from the hotel staff. They even escorted my guests to the room and pool deck where I was celebrating my birthday! I wouldn't hesitate to return on my next weekend get-a-way or special event. Having stayed on South Beach many times, I've had some great hotel experiences and some not so great ones. The experience at Prime Hotel was, I'm glad to say, one on the best experiences I've had in South Beach to date. Located on the Southern end of South Beach, Prime Hotel is a modern oasis in the midst of a some of Miami's hottest restaurants. It's isolated away from the main drag of Ocean Ave where it's crowded and full of tourist traps. The hotel itself is simple from the outside and almost a bit worrisome of a bad experience since you have to walk behind the hotel bar to get to the elevator. Once you enter the room however, you're met with a trendy set up that that is reminiscent of 80's Miami luxury, but with all modern twists. From the black wood floors to the modern touches in the bathroom, the room is as trendy as they come. The bed is amazingly comfortable and is draped in sunlight that makes for a perfect place to just lounge. There are also large sliding doors in each room that lead to a private balcony with patio furniture. A five star experience all around! With so many hotels to choose from on South Beach, Prime Hotel is a welcomed addition that is well worth the money. It's beachy and manages to capture the vibe and culture of Miami in its rooms. It's also right next door to Prime 112, which is a must when in Miami if you haven't been! read more

Dear Prime Hotel, Located next to, and basically right on top of, Prime 112, comes this next edition to the Prime family, which is you, Prime Hotel & Lounge. Gorgeous, seXXXy and swanky, you are everything a boutique South Beach hotel should be, equipped with a posh rooftop pool deck. I have to say, upon our arrival we were a tad intimidated because we didn't realize that we actually had to walk through the crowded restaurant in order to find your "front" desk, but we finally made it through your lively lounge, past the late-nite diners, and to your friendly desk attendant. Friends of ours had rented for their birthday and we were invited to join in on some SoBe fun and R&R. We quickly said their name and room #, and a hassle-free moment later we were on our way up the elevator (located near the kitchen). What a relief to get up to the room so easily. Thank you. Once we got into the room, we were definitely impressed with the setting. Your rooms are a decent size, with even a small table for 2, a beautiful flat screen TV on the wall, and a balcony overlooking Ocean Drive. The bed was nice and plush, covered in crisp white linens, and the bathroom looked like it came straight out of Ocean Drive Magazine- "snakeskin" tiles on the wall, slate & marble throughout, gorgeous shower. Since it was a beautiful August night, the party made its way upstairs to the rooftop pool, where we spent the rest of the night until sunrise. Not once were we bothered by hotel security or staff, and even as more people joined, your staff was completely courteous and cooperative. I enjoyed my visit so much I haven't been able to stop raving about you! Looking forward to my next staycation here, which is sooner than expected. I love the Prime family- Prime hotel, Prime Italian, Prime One Twelve & Big Pink. The lounge is great because you get the same 5 star food and cocktails from one twelve but it's in more of a relaxed environment. I came here on Saturday night around midnight and chatted with other bar patrons and enjoyed a Prime lemonade & fried Oreos. Soooo delicious. I would suggest the lounge if you want to enjoy a drink in a less crowded & more laid back atmosphere. read more

When I first arrived they had my reservation wrong and placed me in the wrong room. I hated the shower it was set up weird and not enough water pressure comes out. The elevators are super slow. Did not like the fact that there is no one to assist you past a certain time. Around 10 or so our TV/cable service stopped working which we were using for music. Called the front desk but they advised no one could assist us till tomorrow morning. Which does us no good since I will have been checked out by then. We honestly had a very strange experience at the Prime Hotel. The main issue came at check-in. We booked our room on hotels.com and got a confirmation. Our flight was delayed into Miami the night we came, so we didn't get to the hotel until around midnight. The hotel is small and boutique-y and there was only one person at the front desk. He was very nice and welcoming, but he seemed quite inexperienced. We gave our last name and he said he could not find our reservation. We said that that was not possible and showed him the hotels.com confirmation email on our iPhone. He apologized, but said that they didn't have that reservation. I had to call hotels.com twice and two times the agent called the Hotel Prime (getting through to the gentleman at the front desk) assuring him that the reservation was confirmed and active. He asked them to email or fax him the information on the reservation. They attempted to do this multiple times and he said he wasn't receiving them. At this point I grew a bit frustrated. I said--"what's more likely, two separate agents at hotels.com are wrong, or maybe your system's down and that's why you're not receiving faxes or emails?!" I said--"maybe you want to try to email yourself from your phone and see if it works?" Clearly there was something wrong with their system and he finally acknowledged that. However, he continued to insist that the reservation was canceled. Firstly, even if this were the case it must have erroneously been done by the hotel as we definitely didn't cancel it and it was still active on hotels.com. Secondly, he said he was able to "reinstate" our reservation under the same confirmation number and that we didn't have to do anything--which to me doesn't even seem possible (in my mind, once a reservation is canceled, a new reservation is always going to have a new number). Regardless of all the details, the bottom line is we didn't do anything wrong and we were forced to wait over an hour to get a room. It was after 1:30am when we finally got our room (an ADA room, which was not our preference) and of course this negatively impacted our whole trip as we were exhausted. In my mind, a nice hotel would have offered us a free drink while they figured out the problem or even said, "we'll give you a room while we work it out with hotels.com and we'll settle the details in the morning". None of this happened. It was also frustrating that there was no manager or superior present and we could only work with the one front desk person. I don't think he meant any harm, but I feel his lack of experience in handling these types of situations definitely made a bad situation worse. And although we understand this is a small hotel, we never once saw a manager or higher-up on the premises. Obviously, this initial impression, put a damper on the rest of the stay. But here are some other observations about the hotel: -The building itself is beautiful and well-situated on Ocean Drive--an easy walk to the beach. -There's not much of a lobby as the main floor is shared with a popular restaurant. In fact, they seemed to use every spare bit of space on the floor for tablespace. Also, they used the space for large staff meetings for the restaurant. The hotel definitely takes second fiddle. -The room was small, but modern and updated. It had a small balcony with a nice view. -The rooftop pool was really nice to have. We had it to ourselves the whole time (although we did have to ask for towels as there were never enough up there). The pool was small, but adequate. And there was great sun exposure and a nice peekaboo out to the ocean. I think it really is a hidden gem. However, there is no bar or waitstaff. I went downstairs to the bar for a drink, and they said it wasn't open (the one time having the restaurant downstairs would've been convenient!). I had to go to a different bar across the street and bring back drinks--a bit of a buzzkill when I'm trying to relax! -Despite our obviously unfortunate situation at check-in, nobody ever called us to apologize or ask us how our stay was going or anything like that. I honestly felt a bit surprised about this. There didn't seem to be any communication among the staff. Even when we were granted a late check-out request, we received a phone call at the old check-out time reminding us it was time to leave. We explained that we had the late check-out and they apologized--but they should have known this in advance and not bothered us! Overall, this is not a five star hotel and you don't get a five star experience. We enjoyed certain aspects of the hotel, but were very disappointed by the service in general. We'd maybe give it another try as the pricing was fair for the area and some of the amenities (especially the pool) were nice. read more

Wow wow thats all i can say this place was amazing there is a restaurant on the main floor / and side entrances for the guest staying at the hotel. The staff was a really nice i was drunk all the time as this was my first adult vacation and i was wit bodyguards and dc congress staff we let loose and basically the hotel was amazing even through the antics. Professional service. The room was clear clean and so modern. I was taken back wit the view of south beach from my window. I really loved the balcony and the roof pool which all guests have access too. Love this place amazing amazing and the food was to dye for, prime was next door - just a great spot. read more

This was by far the worst hotel experience in my life. We booked this hotel for a 4 day getaway and were given a room that looks nothing like the photos. There were private dinner parties in the rooms adjacent to ours that went on until the wee hours of the night. When we approached the manager, Shannon (who is also the restaurant manager) she could not have been more rude, unprofessional and unaccommodating, claimed she " was too busy with the restaurant to deal with hotel issues". After going back and fourth for over an hour they finally offered the room that is featured in the website, for an extra $200/ night. Being a local I rarely find myself reviewing a hotel but I must admit I was extremely impressed with this little gem. Hard to navigate thru the restaurant but at least the staff is very helpful and courteous. The rooms are clean, minimal but have everything you could possibly need. The beds are big fluffy white cotton balls of joy!! You can also have your own balcony with a table for 2 for some morning breakfast.The bathrooms are spacious and the shower is outstanding with the rainfall shower head & jets for your entire body. They even have an ipod installed in the wall and TV hanging from the ceiling. More than enough closet space and completely mirrored they even provide you with your own espresso maker and microwave! I think I may have found my favorite little hideaway now instead of The Standard * Note * - the next day I went to the roof & they have a nice sundeck and small pool to sit in with friends and watch the sunset and the ships go by read more

I found this on Hotel.com so I had no idea how amazing it would be. It was such a great place to stay!!!! It's kinda of different when you walk into the hotel the front deck is in the restaurant and to get to your room you have to go through the bar and pass the servers station. But the rooms are ultra modern and very clean. We went downstairs to have a glass of wine and ended up having an amazing dinner with a wonderful bartender that told us "special" things to order. We had fresh flown in from Hawaii tuna, a great wine, and Oreo fried cookies and ice cream. I would go back anytime!!!! read more

I don't know why I keep giving this group any business. I have had two bad experiences at their restaurants before, but my wife wanted to stay at the hotel for this past Valentine's weekend. Let me be clear, the staff at the hotel and restaurant are great - the management is terrible and doesn't not understand customer service. This is how my weekend unfolded: * I checked in and a hold was put on my credit card for more than double the room rate on my reservation. After inquiring, the hotel told me that my room rate was wrong in my reservation, even after providing an order confirmation from their own website, I had to prod them to honor it. I took over a week for the hold to be released from my card. * Next experience was with their terrible valet - the evening after Valentines day I was taking my wife out for our anniversary. It took AN HOUR for the valet to pull up my car. And when they finally pulled it up, the attendant said "Oh well, it happens sometimes". The valet never was faster than 25 minutes, even when it was not busy. * I asked for the manager Shannon to call me to speak to her about the valet. I called and left her voicemails that weren't returned. I tried to speak with her on checkout (I didn't want to pay the 35 dollar valet fee) - and she dodged me. I tried calling her after my stay with no response. Shannon - as hotel manager your customer service is terrible. I will never give this group a dime again. read more

While the hotel itself was clean and the location great this was more like renting an apartment then staying at a hotel. The staff was very inattentive and unaccommodating. Every time we left the hotel they reset our room key and so we had to get a new one every single night. Additionally the staff refused to call us a cab insisting that we would be able to catch one downstairs. My husband stood in the rain for 4 or 5 mins before we were able to catch one. Also the bathroom wall was glass without blinds so there was absolutely no privacy while using the toilet or showering. I would stay here again due to the cleanliness and proximity to sight, however my expectations are not properly set. read more

The Prime Hotel is a great find for those looking for a relaxed stay in an upscale establishment, close to main attractions and beaches. I booked my hotel a few weeks in advance and requested a special room as I had heard there were some better than others. The person who I spoke to was the kindest, most attentive person I had ever dealt with. She arranged for reservations at the top restaurants in Miami, as well as placing me in the best room in the hotel - with fantastic views of Prime 112, Prime Italian, and beautiful palm trees and the water. Although my arrival was not as smooth as I would have liked - as in the staff gave me some trouble because I arrived "too early" for check in, everything was fantastic. The room was gorgeous, very modern and luxurious. Bathroom is a little small and shower is too, but that is minimal in comparison to the overall stay. The pool is very charming, with beautiful views and decorated perfectly. Staff- I had one bad experience with a staff member who was a bit "off" and not the most helpful, but other than that, the staff was amazing. Really don't know what words to use to describe how unbelievable the person was. She was charming, friendly, warm and welcoming, and went out of her way to accommodate my girlfriend and I. Even to the last minute, when she helped us load our luggage into the car. My only complaint is that you have to walk through the restaurant to get to the elevator/front desk, and that the reviews for the hotel are so negative. Yes, there is some construction going on around the establishment but it is a minor detail. It's a gem and I would stay there again! Highly recommend it! read more

Since I have been a fan of Prime 112, I saw a great deal for the Prime hotel and decided to give it a shot. I love the boutique factor, I mean it s a very small hotel (14 rooms) but works for me. I think they could have utilized the lounge area in favor of the hotel and not as part of the restaurant but I get the demand for tables, but it could be awkward as you walk in from a late evening run, and pass by dinning tables wearing sweaty clothes . The rooms are modern, amazingly clean, and at $150/night it is a steal! You are steps away from the best beach area in town, in the still moderately quiet part of south beach. The roof top pool is small and there are no other facilities but again, this is a place for someone who likes the boutique feel of south of 5th, enjoys being on a more quiet side of town, still walking distance to most areas. Besides, you have the best steak house in Miami, arguably one of the best in the country, right below you. The staff is very friendly. Just a couple small inconveniences, the hotel room key demagnetizes very easily and the rooms lack a little sound proof on the hallways but not off the streets through the balconies. We booked this hotel because it was at the end of the "strip" or away from the hustle and bustle of South Beach. I knew when I booked the hotel that the front desk would be located in the restaurant and the parking might be a problem. They hotel staff, especially Rosie was exceptionally friendly. There is construction on both sides of the hotel, but there wasn't any noise, so we weren't bothered by it. You will have to pay an additional $35.00 for valet parking because there is no parking, but you are in South Beach after all. The showers have very little water pressure, but most hotels you stay are like that because they want to conserve water, its like that in the Florida Keys. We will stay here again when we visit the area, the price was reasonable and the room was large and clean. I love the fact there aren't many rooms in the hotel. It was perfect! While somewhat awkwardly located atop a busy restaurant, every other aspect of my stay at Prime was perfect. From the check-in process to the fresh baked cookies to the room outfitted with anything I'd need. Bed was comfortable, cleaning staff were great, rooftop pool and lounge area was a nice escape. Loved ordering from Big Pink and lounging on the balcony. Parking was always available overnight in a nearby lot, so it is possible to avoid spending extra $$ on valet.
