Stayed here for about a week while on a business trip and unfortunately my room was very grimy. Aside from sleeping hours, I was in my room for about a half hour a day and even the brief time spent at the hotel, it was uncomfortable. However, I chose this hotel because it is a literal block away from the convention center and I'm lazy. Aside from the condition of the hotel, the staff here were genuinely so kind and helpful even through my brief interaction with them. Booked this hotel last-minute and arrived within 90 minutes. The front desk refused to charge the card used to guarantee the reservation and demanded a new card at a rate of $340. While standing there, I found the same hotel publicly advertising rooms for $220 for the same night. They refused to honor that rate and also refused to cancel the reservation, citing a 48-hour cancellation policy despite the booking having just been made. I was told the card could be charged if I walked away but not if I stayed. I left and stayed elsewhere. Very disappointing and felt like pressure tactics rather than hospitality. read more

This hotel has a lot of pluses, but these are offset by minuses. Hotel is dated and rooms and hallways are in need of renovation. Pool is gorgeous and location is a short walk from South Beach and many restaurants and bars. There are 3 separate buildings that make up the hotel and only one has an elevator. I messaged the hotel about parking and was told a valet would park my car in an off site garage. But that was not accurate as it's self park. Staff could not tell me an exact location, name or address or even which street the garage is located. Only a general area on a map and wrote it was next to "Sweet Libian." No such place. I had to come back and ask another staff member where to park and he said it was next to "Sweet Liberty Bar," which I did find in a navigation app. Beds were comfortable and the art deco style is cool. Paid a lot but it was a 3 day weekend and national football championship was in town, so understandable prices higher that weekend. This is a terrible place to stay. It smells like MOLD (which is dangerous- can get in your lungs and live in your blood system for the rest of yours LIFE). Pool bar has literally nothing on their menu. You will order Prosecco and they huge you rose. Order raspberry cocktail and they give you cranberry. No breakfast whatsoever. If you get makeup on the towels they will charge you for them. At check in we asked for two beds instead of one and hey didn't mention a change in price at the time of selection. Just when we checked out. They charged us for sheets and towels That had makeup on them. What girl doesn't wear makeup!? It washes out!! They are terrible. I hate this hotel and will never stay there again. They ration out pool towels like they are high value collectors items that they are protecting with their lives. It's insane. My wife and I took a short 5 day holiday to the Pestana Hotel in South Beach Miami. The staff were friendly and very accommodating. The room was a king and very adequate but not luxurious. We thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Swimming pool in the court yard. Two blocks to the beach. Walking distance to many restaurants. Lincoln Mall nearby with plenty of shopping opportunities. We purchased a day trip to the Everglades and had a great time. The property had bike rentals which we took advantage of and rode a gorgeous bike trail along the beach. South Beach restaurants are pricey $$$ in most places to eat. 20% gratuities charged. It was nice to have sun and warm weather in January. Parking is limited and you must pay in the lot. We took an Uber to and from MIA airport $100 round trip about a 30 minute trip. read more

This was my first time in Miami and my friend chose this hotel for all of us to stay in. I'm overall very happy with her choice and I'm glad we stayed here. We had the perfect room that was on the first floor by the pool! Super idea spot for us! Everyone at the hotel was friendly like the front desk, the person who helps bring your bags in, housekeeping, the bartender by the pool, etc. Our room was always super clean and spotless. I love the aesthetics of room how everything was white and the bathroom as well. I love how the pool had those two big pink flamingo floaters as well super fun! The sun chairs and beds are also nice glad to see they were there. The breakfast like complimentary coffee and fruit each morning was also nice. I wish they had non dairy options for coffee though! Like almond milk would be nice! And I love how the bar cafe is conveniently next to the pool. So smart. Also I love how bottled water is free and how the front desk always has them handy immediately. Loved my stay at Pestana. Location is PERFECT!! The beach is right there. The front desk staff was really nice, they gave recommendations to places to check out and I really liked how engaged they were. The rooms are clean, the pool was also clean. The hotel is in a safe area. If you're going to be driving they recommend a parking lot two blocks down for $22 a day! The hotel doesn't claim to be a 5 star hotel. But, it's clean safe, and conveniently located. Will definitely stay there again. The room size is perfect! read more

The location is great but the infrastructure of the hotel is past its prime. Looks nice with some pictures but missed the big stuff- broken tiles on floor, need for paint job, smelly rooms and only partially update bathrooms. I would not say it was worth what we paid on spring break nights. The service was meh.... We loved the pool area at Pestana South Beach. It was perfect for a lazy day lounging in the pool chairs. The pool was so warm it felt like a jacuzzi. The bar is nice and we had coronas while swimming around. Location was also excellent - on a nice quiet street only two short blocks away from the beach. That part was ideal. The cons of Pestana were that some of the female front desk staff were extremely unfriendly and standoffish. Also the walls were paper thin so we could hear everyone's loud conversations as they walked by our room. One morning we were also woken up by a screeching fire alarm, which was eventually turned off. It was not an emergency but no one came around to tell us that it was fine to stay in our rooms. hotel: this hotel is absolutely amazing! my friends and i stayed in a double queen room in building 3, and it was the perfect size for all four of us. the room was clean af and the staff is sooo helpful. id like to give a special thanks to matthew and luis, they were so sweet and made sure our stay was the best it could possibly be. brian was really helpful as well! all three of them need raises :) the pool is so nice and we enjoyed the complimentary towels, as well as the bar. if you wanna take a break from clubbing, they have these bikes available for rent in the pool area. they're $5 for 30 minutes and a nice night activity to partake in. just watch out for the homeless people one of them tried taking ours. the beds are beyond comfortable, it was like sleeping on a cloud. also, the cleaning crew was great. everyone here was just so nice, 10/10 would stay here again. parking: my friends and i rented a car, but honestly uber would've been completely fine. the hotel charges a $40 valet fee each time you bring the car out to the hotel, but i know some people who left reviews said there's cheaper parking a few blocks down. if not, i believe the actual pestana parking garage is 4 blocks down if youre in the mood to walk. still, i'd rely on uber. because of the location, you probably wouldn't even need to order that many anyways. walking in miami is really nice. location: i loveee the location. it's so convenient, there was a cute little breakfast place called cafe americano right around the corner that my friends and i were obsessed with. the hotel the perfect walking distance from a ton of amazing restaurants and a 5 min walk from the beach. it's a clean, safe location. beach crew: hunter was great! he helped us find a nice jet ski place. give him your vouchers! note: - the hotel does not have an elevator in building 3 (i know they have one in the main building but idk about the other two tbh) - the beach voucher gets you a free towel and two free chairs (any more chairs cost an extra $10 each i believe) - the beach crew does not have free water bottles, they're $4 each; just a heads up. there's a cvs right down the road from the hotel that has good water. read more

WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE EVER. PLEASE DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. MANAGED BY RACISTS. Jorge, the GM, is refusing to acknowledge the terrible service our party received. He will most likely respond to this post to say that we violated a rule about outside food by the pool. This is his way of excusing his employees of their racism. Please read through the lines of whatever the hotel's response is to this post. He was not even present at the time of the events in question, and his private responses to us have been disgusting. His manager and employees exhibited blatant racism to the only two black members of our ten person party. When we wrote to him to explain our frustration, he immediately disputed our experience. ALL OF IT. There was no understanding or desire to make right the wrongs we had brought to his attention. The poor service (and it was dismal) we received is one thing, but protecting prejudice in the customer service industry should be made public. Read past reviews to see other accounts of similar disparity. Of course the hotel won't admit it. It had nothing to do with food. The situation escalated because of the hotel's discriminatory behavior and our refusal to accept it. PLEASE DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. This review is long overdue, but finally had sometime to squeeze it in. In my professional and honest opinion based on my experience at this hotel during my stay in June 2018, this was absolutely the worst hotel I have ever been to. In order to save some money, I decided to stay at the Pestana for four nights and give it a chance, although the reviews were terrible. Very foolish decision by me. After our four nights, I decided to stay at the Hilton in South Beach and it was such a difference. Quality rooms, quality customer service and it was overall, a great experience. Moral of the story, I would rather spend a little more and get a quality experience than save a few bucks and get a terrible experience. In regard to my Pestana experience; I booked a king size bed for my stay, but that wasn't the case once I got there. When laying in the middle of the bed I realized they just put two twin size beds together and attached them together with a bed cover. Similar to other reviews, the place felt dirty and I didn't feel comfortable at all. One other thing to note, the bartender that made us some expensive drinks (drinks were watered down) was rude and was not professional at all. I would highly encourage you all to stay away from this place or at least do some research prior to booking with them. I hope this helps! read more

This is a cute hotel but, it's not a cleansy place... What are the maids doing! They do have helpful hostesses. I was disappointed that this hotel had an expensive buffet breakfast; that has an extra for simple things like eggs. I like that the Pestana is near the strip but not on the strip; it's a mini hide-a-way! One building of the hotel is a walk up the other has an elevator; thank GOD my party wasn't there on a major weekend and had a choice not to lug our luggage pass the pool and up the steps. I think with a little work this hotel can be awesome. They may need more staff but, definitely they need to work on being clean that's only acceptable! read more

This is what South Beach is supposed to be like. Love the old Art Deco Hotel that has had a complete remodel. Heated pool in Miami?!?! Why not! A block to Lincoln Road, Ocean Drive and a block to the beach. This place is great. Very laid back atmosphere and I didn't have a car so I chanced the valet mishaps I read on other review. The best part about staying at the Pestana is the staff. They make you feel like family. It's a home away from home. I love sitting on the front porch. We arrived today to the hotel. We have got a room in the first floor (because the elevator is not working). The room was very dirty, stains on the sheets and the towels. In addition, the acoustics is horrible!!! We can hear every single step of the guests above us. The entire floor is moving and making noises. We can hear door slamming and people's conversations (feels like they are practically inside of our room). It's unbearable!!!! We tried to speak with the front desk but without any success. Friendly and helpful staff...room was clean and bathroom was huge, with a large, open shower. The cafe didn't stay open very late for food service, but did sell beer and cocktails to take to the room at a reasonable price. The only very unusual feature of the room was the light control -- the foyer light could only be turned off with an "All Off" button, which disabled every light and outlet in the room -- so, you either sleep with a bright light on and charge your electronics, or sleep in the dark and charge everything when you get up -- kinda weird. read more

I stayed at the Pestana from Thursday March 29th until Sunday April 1st with 12 girls for my bachelorette. My sister booked the hotel after taking into consideration convenience, price and decent reviews. We booked the suite and one king room, which was next door. First, when we got there we went to check into smaller room, as there were only 4 of us for the first night. The room was not ready, and they had to put us in a room in another building. We received no apology and there was no attempt to rectify the situation. When it came to the restaurant, we waited for approximately 2 hours for food and 30 minutes for a drink. Once we were moved into the suite and attached room we found out toilet was broken and we were offered a plunger to fix it ourselves. We continuously had to ask for towels and basic bathroom necessities, which were always brought late. On top of that, the hallways smelled like Cat urine, and the shared spaces were very dirty. This aside, the major issue was that the staff takes no accountability and the front desk manager, Ricardo, never apologized and in fact told us that his staff and hotel did nothing wrong. On the last day after being scolded for bringing salads to the pool area ( bc the restaurant was closed) we were verbally attacked by Ricardo. He targeted one particular friend in the bachelorette party for her bathing suit, deeming it inappropriate for a family friendly hotel. Unfortunately he used racial undertones to target our friend's attire when we, and other people staying at the hotel were wearing the same type of bikini. We also learned after, that his staff overcharged the non-white party members more for drinks. We ended up telling Ricardo our thoughts, and were yelled at in front of everyone at the pool. In closing, the service is awful, the staff is unapologetic, the rooms are dirty and the hotel as a whole, is racist against African Americans. I would not recommend this location for anyone hoping to be treated with common decency. read more

The rooms are contemporary. The swimming pool is only 5 feet deep but I liked that it's a smaller hotel so the pool wasn't crowded. The breakfast didn't seem worth it. Nice porch at front. Really close to all the action but on a less busy street where you are able to unload right in front. No gym. Free wifi worked ok. Normally would give it 4 stars but I give 5 because they fixed a problem. Don't get a room near the lobby. People come in after a night of partying and are loud. You will get woke up. I did on the first night, asked for a new room and they accommodated me. Hence, 5 stars. read more

Not eating by the pool which is fine but IN POOL! Then an entire family fully dressed shorts and shirts in pool. Are they even hotel guests? Manager and barman were notified but couldn't care less, clueless . Guests have some manners, manager say something. Pool is a mess, need to beg for seat cushions so that the staff bring them out... it s too tiring maybe? bar service is so slow and clueless about basic customer service. Stayed: Jan 2014 "Fun Staff!" My girlfriends and I enjoyed our trip immensely - so much so that we came back just to hang with the staff at the bar after our trip back from the Bahamas. Hotel/Rooms: Opened recently - less than a year while we were visiting. The rooms were clean and our room overlooked the pool - awesome! Location: It was not in the heart of South Beach but I think I much preferred to be off the strip. It was quiet enough for me to sleep. It was a few blocks away from Lincoln Road - where I found my beloved Shake Shack!!! Lincoln Road is also filled with amazing shopping. The beach was also only a few blocks away! What a joke. I'm surprised that this place has as many stars as it does. But, let me start with the positives: You are a block from Ocean, which is the main street on south beach, so you get to avoid a lot of the noise and commotion. The positives end there. The photos are much better than real life. It's absurd to me that they charge you $300+/night to stay here. You walk into the lobby and are immediately disappointed. As you go upstairs and walk through the hallway to your room, cleaning supplies like a vacuum from 1990 are just left out with no one in sight. That's just where they are kept- in the hallway. You open the door to your room and everything is humid. The lights either can all be turned on or all off- there is no in between. This means if you want to use the bathroom and your companion is sleeping, they won't be for long unless you use the bathroom in the dark. The outlets didn't work, the handle to the shower was broken and so your options are very hot or very cold. The walls are paper thin so although you are away from Ocean, Ocean comes to you when your neighbors come home and you can hear everything you say. Also, although the maid comes everyday- they don't change your sheets. They just make the bed with dirty sheets. I asked the front desk to have them changed, which they did, but the maid had a horrible attitude. She confirmed that the beds are made with the old sheets. All in all, would not recommend. Stayed here for three nights for bf's birthday. The hotel is a little Hotel on James Ave which is conveniently located just off the main strip (Collins Ave) and close to the beach. It's clean and well kept and the staff were pleasant. They also let us check in 1.5hrs early... Thank god! I let them know ahead of time it was his birthday and the provided a complementary bottle of Proseco sparkling wine and two chocolate cupcakes. Was very thoughtful. Our room was smaller than I thought it would be and the door is poorly sound proofed. You can hear everything in the hallway. With the air conditioner running it helps a bit but that was the biggest draw back for me. I was woken up more than once. The alarm clocks with iPhone docking station are outdated so we couldn't listen to music which was very annoying. This needs to be addressed as it's an easy fix. Beds are very comfy and so are the pillows. Location is fantastic. They provide beach chairs and towel ls but it's hard to find so u need to have a good chat with the front staff. The towels are not at the beach!!!! We found this out the hard way. U have to get them from the pool before u leave to go to the beach. Also annoying. I would recommend this hotel as a simple, clean and comfortable choice that is located in a great area. read more

Rooms were nice with good views. Beds were comfy. I liked the bath products they provided. The pool looked nice, even though I didn't go in it. The main problem was the valet. We had a show to catch and they ended up taking almost an hour to get our car. It was a saturday in South Beach, but an hour is a bit long. They use third party valet services like most hotels in South Beach, but they couldn't tell me where my car was. I wanted to go get something without calling valet and they simply do not track where the valet parks our cars. That was a little alarming to me. If I stayed in SB again, I would stay here, but only if it was for the discounted rate I got my room for which was 170-180 a night. Anything above that, I would probably go somewhere else. read more

The staff is very sweet and accommodating, and very polite and helpful. Hotel is clean, quiet and well managed in my opinion. Decor is very nice. The pool area is beautiful and they have a nice bar and buffet breakfast that is amazing. I think the price of this hotel is reasonable, I would recommend it to anyone. We've been sending groups here for years and my only complaint had been the director of sales who had been all over the place, but now that Oscar and Pauline are here there is nothing to complain about at all. Great hotel, easy to make any kind of reservation from individual to group and they're very accommodating. This hotel is ideal for me in Miami Beach, it's much more low key and has that classic Miami art deco style. My favorite points - The pool it's so romantic and picturesque - Beds are comfy and cozy - Breakfast was correct for the price. Defiantly my first choice for Miami Beach. read more
