I wish I could give this restaurant more stars. The ambiance is great, I loved the small details, like having the tv displayed in black and white. Our entrees were delicious. We had the petite prime rib and rib eye. Everything was seasoned and cooked well. The sides of mashed potatoes, mushrooms, and creamed spinach were delicious. Sadly the triple fried fries were not great. They came out soggy, not what we were expecting for something triple fried. The espresso martini was the best I've had. The reason for less stars was the service. Our sever was friendly, but seems she had too many tables to cover to be an attentive server. Our waitress brought one drink to the table and then my husband's 10+ minutes later. When taking our order she basically upsold us without being clear we would be charged for soup or salad. When we ordered our entree she said "and what kind of soup or salad for you?" she should have communicated it wasn't included in the meal or said something like did you want to add it. We were shocked to see $25 in French onion soup included on the bill. Sadly the soup wasn't that great but we paid for it without saying anything. That's never happened to us before so if we return we'll be more cautious when ordering. That was disappointing to experience and she forgot my husband's drink refill. I think we waited another 20+ minutes to get dessert. Also we only got one dinner roll, which I thought was odd when we saw other tables get extra rolls. Not sure if we had to ask or the server is just supposed to give more while you're seated. They will box your leftovers for you, but I don't think they give you all the food left on your plate. I could tell what was boxed was significantly smaller than the sides I had left. In this economy and with the prices you should give customers all of their leftovers. read more

Came here for my husbands birthday a couple years ago and loved it. Came again, awful experience all around. My broccolini had a black hair and the server couldn't care less and didn't even discount the meal. Paid full price for a filet mignon meal that I couldn't even eat. So this weekend we decided to come back for a big steak dinner.....BIG MISTAKE! The meat was not aged, and not worth the $80. The meat tasted very gamie, and looked like it was boiled. The veggies tasted as if they were boiled in Delta water. So gross. We've eaten at enough high end restaurants to know great quality steak, and this place doesn't " meat" the high quality of the many we have visited. I've had better steak at Sizzler. We are regulars here, the food and service is great hence the 4 stars. Minus 1 star for lack of accommodating/attitude of management. We booked two 4 top tables for the same time and requested a call regarding putting the tables together (their policy when booking over 4 people). Received no call back, decided to call and inquire about the request to seat a party of 8. We were told they couldn't put the tables together, so we requested to be seated near the other table. To this it was also no, because one server would have too many tables. I understand splitting the tables per section but, I'm thinking they could have TRIED to accommodate and move some tables in/out of other sections? Mind you, it was a few days in advance, it wasn't mid rush hour, just seemed like some changes could've been made. We have received negativity before regarding reservations, and it's unfortunate. We love the food/servers/bartenders, but the entitlement when booking is a bummer. read more

Prime Table has been an absolute star of Stockton for years, but lately the experience and quality of food is consistently slipping each visit. Tonight was just too many misses for me, especially when paying over $200 for 2 dinners. Here's how it went: Drinks. - Service started off good, but by the time dinner hit the table we had empty glasses several times and had to ask for a soda twice. The bartender appeared inexperienced and the drinks tasted like it as well. Didn't enjoy hearing her constantly complain to her coworkers either. Food was disappointing. - My filet had a sizeable chunk of fat on one side. It was cooked less than the medium I asked for. And worse, it was served lukewarm. The point of a pricey filet is in the quality and leanness of the cut. My steak wasn't even warm enough for the garlic butter to melt, despite being warned about the "hot plate" as it was set in front of me. (Applebees delivers a better steak, one that is warm and can melt butter properly, for less than 1/3rd the price!) - Broccoli was doused in so much salt I could feel and hear the crunching of the kosher salt, even 45 minutes later. - "Roasted king trumpet mushrooms" are on the menu. What was served was very few slices of king trumpet and a bunch of oyster mushrooms and chopped up bits of god knows what kind of mushrooms. It legitimately looked like scraps and I should've taken a photo to show you. For years you'd actually get all king trumpet mushrooms, sliced and cooked beautifully. Such a disappointment to see another great dish ruined and now also misrepresented. - Thank god for the mashed potatoes which were both warm and tasty as they've always been. I hope these remain unchanged. Service/Staff: - Staff who filled water and gave bread were prompt, friendly and started the night off in a good way. - We were effectively trapped at the restaurant for what felt like an extra half hour, waiting for our MIA server to materialize so we could pay and leave. If I had cash in my wallet, I would have dropped it on the table and left, I was so tired of waiting for the check. And it's not like the restaurant was busy, so did she go on lunch and not say anything? - The bartender constantly looked at our table, but never summoned our server or checked in, continuing instead to pay attention to a guy who worked there, twirling keys and chatting. - The hostess who was wearing what looked to be your weird aunt's 25 year old sweater kept walking around and puttering behind the bar. I don't normally pay attention to what people are wearing, but this was so odd and stuck out. In closing, I miss when Prime Table was reliably and consistently amazing. The kind of place I couldn't stop talking about. The filets used to be cooked beautifully and so tender, they nearly melted in your mouth each and every visit. The king trumpet mushrooms used to be king trumpet mushrooms. The broccoli used to be unassumingly delicious -- maybe with less salt and about a minute less cook time, they could have been great tonight. WARNING! $214 for a dinner for 2 that gave us food poisoning On Sunday 9/24/23 my wife and I went to Prime Table for a nice dinner for 2. We ate the same exact meal - Salmon with mascarpone mash potatoes, a glass of Chardonnay each and shared a custard for dessert- by the time we got home we were both violently ILL. I called the restaurant the next day to complain and was treated as if I was lying even though I had the receipt and my wife's name was clearly in their reservation book. Speaking to the manager, she said that she would talk to the chef and call me back regarding compensation for the $214 dollars that we spent. I was never called back and followed up on Wednesday 9/27/23 and was told by the manager that they will not compensate us in any way for this horrific experience. Nice boutiques and restaurants there. The restaurant has a nice ambiance. It's a very cozy place. Our waitress at the time was superb. Our meal was delicious. Being huge fans of their sister restaurant Market Tavern, we were very excited to try Prime Table. We made reservations for 5pm on a Sat as we had a party of 6 and were celebrating a birthday. We all had steaks, they were cooked perfectly and were tasty enough but we didn't feel they were on par for the price point. Ambience: A. The lighting/decor is nice and the place has a cool vibe. My boyfriend and I went here on a Friday night without a RSVP. We were greeted and promptly sat. Our Server Amber was informative as it was our 1st visit here. The menu is very short sweet and right to the point. Since it's a steakhouse that's what we went there to eat. I am a big fan of filet mignon. It was like butter so soft and flavorful. The mashed potatoes were just as soft. Prices are $$$ but it's so worth it. We do like to reward ourselves from time to time. When I first booked our reservation we were asked if this was a special occasion. I confirmed it was our wedding anniversary. Upon being seated our server asked if we were there for a special occasion and we said yes. I was disappointed that they didn't already know especially when we were asked prior. Our server started great but then she seemed to have disappeared. When we finished our food our dishes were removed and one of the other staff members offered us a dessert menu. We looked it over and decided on the cream brûlée. Unfortunately, our initial server never came back and after about 20 minutes we decided to skip dessert and just get our check. I had to get up and request our ticket from our server so that we could finally leave since she never came back to our table. A quick note on the food: I had the special 60-day-aged bone-in New York steak and it was fantastic! Full of flavor, cooked to perfection, and no complaints there. The food overall was excellent! Note to Prime Table. Customers have plenty of options to spend their special day anywhere. Should they decide to spend it at your establishment, please acknowledge their occasion (since it's asked during the reservation) and make it somewhat special by offering to take a photo (with their phone) to remember their special occasion. Had the dry age steak about a year ago wasn't impressed so was questioning about coming back. But craved for Prime Rib Roast yesterday so decided to give the place another try. We arrived right at 4pm on a weekend and were lucky to get a table, reservation s highly recommended. They are expanding next door soon. You can book a room for larger parties. The decor was comfortable with a 50's type feel and the music was jazz like. Service is very good and pleasant. The staff works together well to provide a good experience. This year they had expanded their restaurant week specials to include more entrees while removing dessert. Course 1: Baby Lettuce or Lobster Bisque. Course 2:  8 oz. Prime Rib, 'Mishima' Wagyu Bavette Steak, 'Marys' 1/2 Chicken Marsala or 10 oz. New York with 2 sides. Option to add a 1/2 slice of cheese cake for a discounted price. Both of my visits I ordered their griddled thick cut bacon appetizer with their house made apple sauce and apple gastrique. For the main course I ordered the Mishima Wagyu Bavette Steak, both times cooked to a perfect medium rare... Although the 2nd time it was noticably smaller. Red wine of course was a must both days but the 2nd time around I also ordered their Manhattan. For dessert, their creme brulee one night and sour cream cheesecake the next. I definitely plan to come back again. This place never disappoints me. Were this review about past visits I would definitely give them a 5 for their dry aged steaks. Made reservations a week ago and confirmed reservation a few days ago. We were running late by 15 min, so out of courtesy and to make sure they don't think we're not coming, called them to confirm were going to be 15 min late but for sure coming. It went straight to vm, tried again, and did the same thing. Left a message letting them know we're coming from 45 min away and running late, leaving my name and number. Got to the place 9 minutes late and was given a very unwelcoming greeting. Told the hostess that we had reservations at 5:30 for the table for two for our anniversary. She said "oh you missed your reservation." I explained that I called an hour ago and left a vm since no one answered the phone. She replied with interesting and went silent and I didn't know what she was doing. Five minutes later, she looks up at us and says yea we gave your table away since you never showed up. I was annoyed with her at that point, so I asked if I could speak with the manager. She said there is none, I asked for a card with his number and she said we don't have one, I asked if she can write his name and number on a peice of paper for me and she said she doesn't know it. I replied with you, "Don't have a manager here? You can't write me his number cause you don't know it, so is there anyone here that does know it and she said late go get it." As she left, another gentleman walks up from outside and says left me see if I can help you. He said his name was Michael. He looks in the system and says "since your 15 minutes late, we did give your table away, and the next open table we have is in 3 hours.." Explained that I called twice and went straight to vm. He said most likely someone was on the phone. I asked if they checked the vm, and he said he would have to talk to his staff about it. At that point, I asked if he was the manager, and he replied yes. Ironically, the hostess came back and said i could find his number. I laughed and told Michael, "i did everything right, and now you're wasting my time, so I will take my business somewhere elsewhere. He suggested we go to his sister restaurant. If I wanted to go there, I would have made reservations there. We left the place and, as we're walking, noticed a nice restaurant called la messa, walked in to see if they have seating available and created with a warm, pleasant welcome. They said if we give them 5 minutes they would make a table for us. Our night was salvaged. Dear management, please train your staff to be courtesy to all customers, and if you're going to have a voicemail system, train everyone to check it properly. read more
