I'm gonna subtract a star here, I would say my rating for Prime Wok is a low three stars. I've been back several times and dammit, I should read my own review. The last time I ordered the kung pao chicken and it's been exactly what the warning states, "spicy!" "Frickin, I need a water hose, because my mouth is in flames, hot!" The chow mein and fried rice is noticeably more intense in flavor, maybe too much soy sauce or a change in cooks? Orange chicken is still pretty good. They still give you a lot of food for the buck, but I suggest you get white rice to accompany your meal. When it comes to Chinese food, there are only a few options in the Rocklin area. I can definitely say that this place is a lot better than Panda Express. This location is very convenient to me and there is plenty of parking outside. Unlike a quick-service Chinese food chain with steam tables of pre-cooked food, Prime Wok Express cooks everything to order. That's how you make sure that the food is fresh, hot, and of good quality. There's nothing worse than getting food off a steam table that's been sitting there for too long, lukewarm, and either really soggy or really dry. The day that I went in, I believe that I met the owner. He was very friendly, took my order and then we waited for the food. It wasn't too busy on this day. From order to getting the food, I waited less than 10 minutes. While waiting, I saw many people come in here and either pick up phone orders or order and wait. There are a bunch of tables so you can stick around and eat here too. There are drinks available for purchase in the refrigerator but they also serve fountain drinks by Coca-Cola. If you dine in, you are allowed one free refill. I took my food home and I was just surprised by the amount of food. At first glance, I thought it looked like a lot of food because the plastic box was a 3-compartment variety versus a flat box. But I was wrong... holy crap this was a lot of food. I ordered the broccoli beef with white rice and my wife ordered the orange chicken with chow mein. I noted that the owner gave me an extra box of chow mein for free. I think it was because I struck up a conversation with him in Chinese and he found out that this was my first time here. The orange chicken was cooked perfectly. I know, anything fried is good, right? You can still mess up orange chicken. It was perfect here. The chow mein was also very good. It was perfectly seasoned and also perfectly cooked. The broccoli beef was amazing for a take-out place. I honestly think it rivals sit-down Chinese restaurants. As I mentioned above, the portions were huge. I could not finish my meal in one sitting so I ended up having the leftovers for lunch the next day. All of the food cost me less than $14. How can you beat that. The quality, the quantity, and the price was just amazing. I can tell you that this will not be my last time here and I wished that I tried this place sooner. We've moved here a few years ago and kick myself for not coming here before. A lot of food! Came here for lunch now that I work in Rocklin. Why did I not discover this restaurant before... only found out about it when my co-worker at my new job brought back take-out food from this restaurant. I had the beef fried rice a-la-carte... it had enough beef in it that it didn't need anything else. It's a one-dish-meal. I ate and ate and ate and there was still a lot left of fried rice to feed three people at home for dinner. They really packed that styrofoam container! And it was only $5.95 + tax. Food was tasty and delicious and freshly cooked, ready in 5 minutes. Many seem to come here for take out but there are enough table seating inside. I almost did not find this place. It is located in the same shopping center as Woody's Grill and Bar and it's hidden in a corner among other businesses. The restaurant is clean and the owners/staff are friendly! We got enough food for at least two meals each for about $17. This amount of food would cost at least $25 at Panda Express. The chowmein is legit and is made from a person actually cooking behind a wok. The beef was tasteless and mushy (like fat). Not even sure it was beef. Also ordered the ginger chicken, but it had no taste of ginger...just weird tasting.
