Holy cow 5 stars for the VALUE. $18ish for a noodle bowl (portion dependent on stacking skill), a bowl of rice (white or fried), a bowl of soup, and a side of egg rolls and fried wonton crackers. I grew up eating Mongolian bbq at malls and was so excited to see a stand alone restaurant! We came on a Sunday lunch and started moving along the food counter right away, starting with meat then noodle then veggies, then toppings, then sauce. We had lots of fun with our different strategies to fill our bowls as much as possible. The staff was pretty attentive and refilled any stations that were running low. I love how customized the noodle bowls are and was able to adjust my sauces to my taste. I appreciate that they have a few recipes posted for reference. Our noodle bowls came out so delicious and we had fun creating them! The restaurant itself was clean and it's nice that the staff helps to seat your party, especially once the place gets a bit packed. I've been coming here for about twenty years, and it has been consistently fantastic every single time. The food is always fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly right in front of you. One of the best parts is being able to customize your bowl exactly how you want it, with tons of great ingredients and sauces to choose from. The staff has always been friendly and welcoming, and the place is clean and well run. It's rare to find a restaurant that stays this good for so long, but this one absolutely has. Came here for the first time and it was busy during lunch time. Staff is really friendly and service was pretty quick. You make your own bowl with meat, veggies, noodles and sauce and leave it at the counter for the chef to cook. While you are waiting the waiter will escort you to your table and give you egg drop soup or hot and sour soup and rice/fried rice and wonton chips. The egg drop soup was nice and not salty but their fried rice was way too oily for me. Their Mongolian bbq is cooked fresh and tasted great. I love how I can be in charge of the sauces and oil that goes into my food. This is not an ayce place but for lunch I was only able to finish half of my bowl and took the rest to go. Sizzle Mongolian BBQ is a prime example of delicious, unpretentious, no-frills dining. It's clean, efficient, and has a great group of people providing excellent service. Best of all you end up with a tasty bowl of noodles to feast on. All the ingredients look fresh and the posted recipe yields a spicy (not crazy spicy) and flavorful bowl of noodles. I haven't had a bad meal here yet and I don't expect to given how efficient the restaurant seems to run. The different meats, vegetables and sauces allow our imaginations to run free and provide an opportunity to make all types of creative bowls of noodles. However, once you find your preferred combination of protein, vegetables and sauces it will be hard to stray. Still, it's exploring different combinations is worthwhile due to the extensive variety of options available. We walked in and asked the staff if we can sit waiting for our other half of our party. She graciously said yes. We took the largest table they had which sat 8 but we were only 6. When the crowd started pounding in, we too late for there was a long line so I said I would save our spot when I saw the rest of the group came. Afterwards, I went in line. There was such a good collection of vegetables, meats, and noodles. I took some meats first then made my way to the veggies but in the midst of it, a staff member was cleaning the mess on the counter by putting the dustpan close to the counter and a dishrag to wipe the mess onto it. Then put it on floor to clean the mess there & repeated a cpl of more times til he got to the end. I did feel like was sanitary at all. I got to the front and she took my order then made it right away so I can eat with the rest of my party. That was nice of her. I really loved the hot and sour soup & the Mongolian BBQ. I starved my self so I brought my appetite. It was so delicious. But I don't think I'd come back as the way they cleaned the counter was totally off putting. All 2 stars go to the food. read more

Still my favorite after all these years! I've been coming to Sizzle for over 15 years, and it's always so good. You build your own bowl, and it turns out amazing every single time. Even when the line is out the door, it's worth it, and the owner keeps things moving, he's always been kind and efficient in my experience. We usually get it to go, and it's still piping hot by the time we get home. The portions are huge, so I never finish a bowl in one sitting, and the leftovers are just as good the next day. What a deal and besides the deal, let's talk about their customer service! My husband and I have been coming here for some time - an update was needed. Each time the owner (Charlie) makes it a point to connect with each of his customers. An item is low, no problem. You need a little extra, no problem! Charlie genuinely cares about the food he's serving and the customers that come in. When we first got there, about 6:30ish, there was a large party that seemed to have been waiting for a bit of time. Let me tell you, I personally feel it's worth the wait. For $17.95 you get a bowl of food (that you can stack a mile high depending on your abilities), a soup (egg flower soup or hot and sour), fried rice / steamed rice, and an egg roll and wonton for each person! It's what I've been missing. Our family has been on the hunt for a Mongolian BBQ spot we can call home. We think we've found it!! Prices are about what you expect $17-$20 range depending on lunch or dinner. They have a choice of beef, chicken, and pork for meat options. The bowls are medium sized. Kids are about $9 all day I think. We walked up to the line, filled our bowls up to the brim with all the good stuff and followed the recipe for sauce recommendations posted on the glass window. I did a spicy sauce recipe with a splash of teriyaki and soy. They had all the basic veggies I look for. A lady helped us with our drink order and had us take a seat as soon as we were done filling our bowls and dropping them off for cooking. The cook was fast and the meal was delicious. They give you a choice of hot and sour soup vs egg drop soup. Both are great options. You also get a choice between a bowl of fried rice or white rice. The fried rice is hella good. The inside of the restaurant gives you the family home cooked meal vibe. It's not super fancy, but It's comfortable. I loveeeed this whole meal. I will be bringing my whole family back. This will probably we one of our go tos for family dinner nights. read more

Good food! We had frequented another Mongolian bbq in the area previously, but heard this place was good. We were really surprised to learn it was not AYCE but one bowl. The price is about $1.50 more here than the other place that is AYCE.....so that was kind of a bummer. However, the food was good, the service good, they have drink and appetizers included, and the restaurant was clean. In the end I felt like the amount of food I got for the money was fine. I have eaten at Mongolian BBQ around the world. The food at this place is exceptional. Service is caring, friendly, and genuinely concerned that you have a good experience. the customers are respectful of other. I generally take about an hour to dine and the wate staff check on me about every five to ten min. my wife and I used to frequent the place about twice a month. I had not been in for about a year after she passed away and the owner remembered me when I came in, asked about my wife and said he had missed us. Ambiance is a little noisy sometimes at piek hours. I have never wanted to leave because of it. It is very social, people laughing, telling stories and haveing good conversations. it just doesn't get better than that. read more

Found Sizzle a couple months ago and I've already gone like 3 times and recommended it to family members who are also return customers. The food is delicious and the staff are very friendly. We were excited about this place when we first moved to the area in 2015. It was neat to live so close to a Mongolian BBQ and we pictured ourselves eating lots of veggies, as a result. :P But in the last few years, we have hardly frequented this particular Mongolian BBQ, despite it being the closest to us. This past week, my mom was visiting and since she loves Mongolian BBQ and eating lots of veggies, I figured we'd stop by and check it out. There were two things that concerned me before we actually drove here though: Long lines and hearing the owner/boss yell at his employees. But I figured many years have passed, maybe they had gotten better with the lines and the owner hopefully had fine-tuned his management approach. Came on a Wednesday at lunch time and there was a line waiting for the grill. In the past, I had always thought the line was due to really great food and its popularity. And I guess it is pretty popular. But this time, my mom (she's a frequent Mongo patron) commented to me that the employees working the grill were moving REALLY slowly. So I looked at the employees and indeed, they were taking their time and the speed was quite a bit slower than other Mongolian BBQ establishments. Mom also mentioned that if you watch the way they slide the cooked food onto the finished plate, you can gauge their skills. These employees did seem to slide the food a lot slower than other places. Of course, if I were to do it, food would go flying everywhere, so I respect their skills, but they definitely don't seem to have a sense of urgency when they're working the grill, despite the line forming behind us. We noted how an employee brought vats of a dark colored liquid that they would pour into every single person's bowl, which seemed strange to me. The whole point of going to Mongolian is that you add your own ingredients so that you know what you're eating, right? For them to add that mystery soup base without letting customers know what's in it seems suspect. All the other Mongolian places we've been to, the chefs add water to the food while cooking, to prevent sticking. I guess this place figures if they add some flavoring to each bowl, customers will think it tastes great and come back again. My mom does not like any kind of sweetness in her cooked food, so she was disappointed when she ate her bowl of noodles. She said it was too sweet. Mine didn't taste sweet to me, but my taste buds are probably a lot more desensitized to sweetness compared to hers. So we're guessing there's either some sugar or MSG in the soup mix that they're adding to each bowl. The "egg flower" soup is unusually yellow and the fried rice is so dark too. The food wasn't that great and there didn't seem to be a big assortment of vegetables and ingredients that we see in other establishments (tofu, etc). But what bothered me most about our most recent visit is how the owner/boss (Charlie?) barks out questions to customers. The whole entire restaurant gets to hear how many people are in your party, if it's one check or two, if you want egg flower or hot/sour soup, any drinks, and if you do spicy. I found it really uncomfortable to have someone yelling at me while I was standing in line. It wasn't like it was loud in there and he had to talk over machinery or anything. It just appears that's how he talks. And then you get to observe how he treats his employees. If he gets annoyed, he'll yell at them or just make snippy comments like, "Next time, just say 'I GOT IT!'" when he reprimanded how a female server responded to him. At one point during our visit, he was yelling at the server about how it was the same party/table and the customer responded to his question, which made him apologize and say he was talking to his employee. You could tell he was embarrassed at how brusquely he had spoken. He would also make snide comments to the female employee in Cantonese. It got to the point where I almost wanted to pull aside the female server and be like, "You know you don't have to put up with this, right?" and something like, "He shouldn't treat his employees like this." Just spent our visit sitting there and listening to this and feeling very uncomfortable. Even had a discussion with Mom about how he must treat his own family members at home if he treats his paid employees like this in public. Maybe I've changed in the last 8 years and gotten more sensitive to how employers treat their employees. Or maybe it just didn't bother me as much back then (though I do recall writing something about it in a previous Yelp review). Don't plan to go back. Horrible treatment of employees, food doesn't taste that great, they add stuff to your food without informing you, and it's pricey at $17. So many other great Mongolian BBQ places that we'll support instead. read more

You build your own bowl, two appetizers and your choice of fried rice or steamed rice, along with your choice of soup. I've never had mongolian bbq but my boyfriend has been wanting to introduce me to it ever since he found that out ;) There's a self-serve bar where you can pack your bowl with as much ingredients as you want. You then request either white rice or fried rice, hot & sour or egg drop soup, and a choice of drink. They quickly bring all of this out as you're waiting for them to grill your noodles. They also provide wonton chips and vegetable egg rolls :-) The owner is very passionate about his restaurant, the ordering system is efficient and gets straight to the point. There's really no time to waste here and I love that. Our food came piping hot and I love how they had thicker noodles that you could choose. My boyfriend suggested using as much sauce to drench the noodles and I'm so glad I did. The minced garlic added a really nice aroma too. It was super yummy! I got white rice on the side to eat with my meat if I felt like the noodles were too much. Their white rice is a bit off, not my favorite so I probably wouldn't go with that option next time. The food is average to any other mongolian restaurant in the area. What makes this place so unpleasant is the owner barking and berating his employees throughout our sit-down time there. He was also rude and treats customers like 4-year olds. It felt like we were eating at a boot-camp cafeteria. We will not be going here ever again and if I were an employee of his, I would have quit a long time ago. I hear his retention of employees is horrible which makes sense. I'm very disappointed in this Mongolian bbq place. Poor meat selection, lack of veggie choices, mediocre service, and terrible food quality. My family came here for dinner on Friday. Food was extremely spicey and salty. There was no selection for lamb for dinner which was a huge disappointment. You only get 1 bowl and it's not unlimited. The fried rice tasted stale and old. The egg roll was okay. They offered to clean the grill if we were sensitive to spice which my 2 year old son is. We told them that we would like it cleaned. Did they clean it? Not sure but all of our dishes tasted like someone dipped a few scoops of chili oil in it. The only thing I liked was the cauliflower soup. Avoid this spot. There's a better Mongolian restaurant that isn't too far from this location and that Mongolian restaurant has much better selection. read more

First time trying this place, Food was just ok. Nothing special or bad either. For two people I spend over $35. Just a build your own noodle and taste. Not recommended for anyone that has allergies if touching with any other food that they cook previously because they didn't clean their cooking grill after each use. Start from beginning when I get it, I get my own bowl and start building my own choice, They have chicken, beef and pork for the meat then pick your noodle ; thin or thick noodle, move again it's veggies station and at the end I choose my own sauces. The station is not fully stock up. I even have to asked the person that pass by for the refill but just responded ok and left, have to wait until the next person walk by. Services not attentive. The sauces part is very watery and after mix with the food not too flavor basically kind of blan When finished build the bowl of my creation, I have to line up and stuck in the line to have my food to be cook by the cook. They have two cooks. Waiting for the line is long but not on cooking.cooking is pretty fast but the food especially the noodle doesn't taste cook all the way. May be too rush since they have line. Imagine everyone else on the line and blocking ur way to get ur stuff for ur bowl because that's where the line start. They should just give a number for people and sit them down instead of standing and be on the way. Experience is so so but definitely won't try again because the way how they cook is touching the other person's sauces or food since they go around circle moving and cooking the food. read more

The food here is very good, I really like Mongolian BBQ and I was craving juicy and strong flavor and they did not disappoint, the service here is great, all the people are really nice and the in and out the door process was pretty quick, I've been here a lot and I always walk in and there's just a good vibe I get everything, some days the lines is pretty long but still goes fairly quick, the longest it's taken me from walking in the door to getting my food was maybe 15 minutes but this place is great I actually just got myself hungry writing this review, maybe I'll eat here again today!!! read more

The food is great. There's lots of variety, and it's the only Mongolian BBQ I've seen in the Rocklin-Roseville area that gives you a choice between the usual skinnier noodles and udon. Sizzle's floor area and tables are very clean and well-kept, and even the area around the flat-top is pristine. The staff are also very nice and accomodating if you're getting your order to go, and you still get the rice, soup, and other extras you'd get if you ate in. The only thing I would say is that it's gotten way more expensive for lunch than it used to be--it used to be about ten dollars but now the price has almost doubled to about eighteen--but value-wise, it still more than works.
