Never again will I go back to this place. The food was pretty ok, but being treated rudely - and yes, the people behind the counter do glare at you until you know what you want - is not how I want to spend my hard earned money in this economy. We went in on a Sunday, hours were not prominently posted, walked up and waited for someone to come to the counter. There was a young girl mopping for about 5 minutes until we looked ready. She came up and told us that if we wanted to order anything, it would have to be for takeout because they were closing in 20 minutes. We turned and just left. The food was on the low end of being just OK, nothing special at all and it was maybe room temperature to cold when it came out to us. Any questions we had about the menu the girls couldn't answer, they had to keep going back to the cook and asking him. We got a cheesesteak sandwich, chili cheese fries, a cheese quesadilla, and a drink, for that it cost us $18. The tables were dirty, and there were only 2 other customers in the place with us, there were 3 girls just standing around in back behind the counter. My 3 year old spilled her drink, my husband went and told the girl at the counter, she brought out a mop and handed it to my husband, a few minutes later she pushed out the mop bucket and walked away, so my husband had to mop the floor. Great food, great prices! Huge variety and fresh taste. My only con is that most employees aren't very friendly. You can tell they look exhausted and are dying to get out of there. One time my boyfriend and I made a phone order and arrived 20 minutes later, "When it would be ready" and then they said they were surprised we were there. Like wtf? I have been to this Primo burger location FOUR times, before deciding to post this review. Every. Single. Time. Their food is disgusting, makes me sick, and costs way more than I would expect to pay for dog food. Even the fried mushrooms & fried zucchini are gross because the batter on them is way, way, way too thick, hard & crusty. Nothing tastes fresh. The first time we went there, it was an hour and a half before they closed, and the girl at the counter said "if you want to get anything, it will have to be to-go. We close in an hour". I should have turned my ass around and left, but I wanted so badly to like this place, and we ended up scarfing down our food in the restaurant because I knew it wasn't going to take me over an hour to eat a burger. The tables in the restaurant are always dirty, the girls at the front counter are always rude and playing on their cell phones, and there are weird hand made signs by the soda machine that say something about limiting the amount of sauces you get. Love everything here but today I ordered two taco plates which come with rice beans and two tacos for each. We ordered on beef and one chicken. I can honestly say how do you sell chicken like that? The chicken was super thinly sliced and was very similar to lunch meat. The tacos consisted of two tortillas, chicken, a chunk of avocado, and lettuce. There was 3x more lettuce than what was needed. Also the rice and beans were not split between plates like the menu says. All the beans were in the bottom of one plate and all the rice was in the other. The beef was much better quality. read more

Cute and cozy dinner. Tables needed to be bused, I cleared a table so I could sit down. The salt and pepper shakers at my table needed a good cleaning. I ordered the Hobo Omelette with an English muffin. Very large portions. The omelette had American cheese in side of it and on melted on top of it. It was a bit much for me. I feel bad leaving a negative review for this place because the staff were very friendly and both the interior and exterior have a lot of charm. That said, the food was not very good. The burger I had was tough, overcooked and not very flavorful. You might still enjoy the place, if only for the atmosphere and as a popular hangout for locals. Ordered the chili cheese fries, they were swimming in grease. Inedible and a disgusting, soggy mess. My 2 1/2 year old had the chicken "tenders", they was no chicken! Well, there WAS this tiny, thin hard as rock layer of "chicken" surrounded by cement-like over-fried, burnt breading, needless to say my son couldn't eat it. My sister had the burger and fries, she found a small curly hair... Staff was not pleasant. Like, okay you don't want to be here, but why make customers feel like they don't want be here either? Place was filthy, our table was covered in splotches of old syrup. The soda machines were covered in drops of old soda splash marks and God knows what else... We will not return. I have been to this place a bunch of times as an early morning breakfast stop off on long bike trips. It's a perfect greasy spoon type place for hot breakfast when it's cold and you want to get off of the bike for an hour. Nothing flashy, just honest breakfast food. I've never had a burger from this place and I've never had breakfast from the other location in Mojave but I certainly prefer this location. This has got to be my favorite burger joint. Whenever my wife and I go there, the food has been fantastic!! I always go for the Belly Burger, bacon lovers would love this burger. Bacon is put into the meat paddy, and on top of the paddy. My wife goes for the pastrami sandwich, which is piled on thick. She says that their pastrami is the best in Tehachapi. We usually get the chilli cheese fries or the zucchini sticks. Their side orders are really big. When I call in an order to go, the freshness does not go down at all. Went for a drive through Tehachapi for the first time and was searching for best rated place to eat. After cruising past some other higher yelp reviewed places that seemed either closed or sketchy, we decided on Primo. People raved about zucchini sticks... I didn't think they were anything special. They were rubbery inside and fried batter was strange. My fiance ordered the patty melt which was an extremely thin meat patty and used American cheese instead of swiss or provolone (?? weird...). Hands down WORST chicken sandwich in my 46 years in this planet. The cook must have TRIED to make it this bad. It was the "special" maybe just cause it was freezer burnt or something. Just a 1/4 inch thick piece of breaded chicken jerky. Horrible. After few bites just threw it away. Fries were good and that's the only reason I gave it one star. Let me start off by saying that I eat at the Primo's in Lancaster alot and it is good. I have tried the Mojave location a few times and it has been really good. The Tehachapi location on the other hand was awful. We walked in and stood there for awhile until a young girl finally came up to take our order. I got a beef dip combo and my husband got a breakfast meal. I asked for my roll to be toasted, it came out literally wet on the bottom which was weird because the meat was really dry. I got no au jus and had to go up to the counter to get some. My husband's pancakes were rubbery in the middle and crispy/hard as rocks around the edges,definitely microwaved.The fries had about eight pounds of seasoning salt on them,not only on the fries but piled up on the plate under the fries. So disappointing,I will stick to the Mojave and Lancaster locations from now on. read more

Shrimp is mystery; shrimp improves with my age because of all the lemon zest and fried qualities of oily meat. Burritos are alive with delicious stuffing. I respect breakfast. The few cod pieces put salad on a roll with Primo Burgers' display of family photography not to mention famous clips of popular faces. Want pastrami with deep sauce? That's available too! A sampler plate is test for favorites in sides form. Now, you can make a burger club-style of awesome ingredients giving a specific demand, before simply taking few hungry bites during family discussion. That's me in summary on a day of reckoning quick plates of soft crumbs. Tuna can melt on me with ludicrous speed. I try a tri tip when I try, thus more beef in dip is pleasurable satisfaction. At Primo Burgers, I'm like a dude with faith: enjoy, laugh, jolly. It's a weekend in the corner with trait experiences; Primo Burgers is this. I'm not a guest who has his name written down here because, quite frankly, Primo Burgers has servers who get alone in public on epic moments. My theory is if a guy brings a dog around the establishment, there's no garden left to have for my dining experience. Are two sandwiches double? "South of the Border" is the decorated restaurant's catchphrase for meals hot with spices and particular textures. Their famous salsa isn't always new; I put chorizo where it belongs. Experiences are for other experiences, so I remind my family at a comfortable table why I have sauce questions through possible boredom. Pattie melts are turkeys in my mind since bread types in our rustic lobby aren't consistent with relation to ambiance and my precious surroundings in memory. I kick bacon for eggs! Tacos are more expensive than burgers because I need so many of them. Besides, what time is it for pleasure? There isn't entertainment written by the crew about parties at this local restaurant where potatoes stuff a burrito in two ways: inside, outside. I'm not a local golfer named after a storm when dining for less and eating delicious flavors to visit the restaurant's wooden building of sensational opportunities. "Give me sausage or give me eggs." The worker laughs until her hands reach the artistic cups of refreshment for Diet Pepsi and vanilla shots, which are large in my hands when I walk across the red floor to coffee options and salsa containers. Ignore the warnings about salsa because you need to explore tastes of immediate effect with the utmost gusto customers need to strive for. I personally add lots of green and red salsas to tiny items for Mexican cuisine, a sturdy dish which highlights the cherry pickings that Americans tend to lean for. That's good Mexican food! Of course, I recommend Yolanda's tomato sauce recipe in Ventura; it complements my Tehachapi experiences and makes me realize my behaviors for dining. Now it's just sad. 20 minute wait for 1 zucchini & 1 extra crispy fries, that were soggy & cold.. got charged for 4 Ranch (even though they say zucchini comes w/ Ranch) & we only ordered 1 extra.. (not sure how that even adds up to four‍). Also the person literally came & dropped the food at the table without a word or smile. She looks seriously unhappy & makes us not want to come back.. I'm mixed on this place, so I'm giving it a 3-star rating on the food alone. Their burgers are generally very good and they have many varieties. If you get a combo with one of their sides of zucchini, the portion is huge - enough to split between two people. Their pastrami is fantastic with a huge stack of juicy meat and again, with a combo, enough for two people to split. I've had their breakfasts a couple of times - the burritos are huge, tasty, well-filled and worth the money. I would completely agree that their employees' attention is lacking.
