Both of us found everything but the onion a waste of money. Hardly any meat was on the sub. Quiznos and Jimmy John's has this place beat and I can't stand the other 2 places. Excellent sandwich shop near Fenwick Island. A large variety of sandwiches (hot, cold cuts and vegan) to select from. Being a corned beef snob, I went with the Reuben sub and wasn't disappointed. Many standard toppings and sandwich sizes range from small, Primo and large. Recommend getting the "bag of pickles" (sandwich bag of 6). The sandwich bread is excellent as they make them in-house. Unfortunately Primo's which was once the best hoagie in OC has slipped!!! Yesterday I ordered an American sub with mayo, hot peppers, lettuce, NO pepper and no tomatoes. What I got was a sub with about 10 lbs of meat, 1 slice of cheese and a TON of pepper, NO mayo and none of the other things I asked for!! It was awful! It has been a few years since I enjoyed my last Primo Italian or Cheesesteak and I wish I didn't try them again today because it ruined my memories of the subs I loved before. Primo Hoagies has definitely sold out to inflation! The subs I got today were all bread with a little bit of meat. The cheesesteak is 4/5 bread to 1/5 meat,cheese, and onions. Their pride and joy Italian is a little less bread but the bread and toppings over shadow the meats. Maybe in a few years from now I'll try them again and they'll be like I remember. I have always enjoyed the food here but recently the service was unacceptable. While I was ordering at the register the attendant took an incoming phone call and in the middle of my order stopped and took the full order from the individual calling. In my opinion this was exceptionally rude. To be clear I think the proper way to handle a phone call would be to ask them to wait on a short hold finish the current order you are taking and then take the order from the incoming phone call. I was a bit shocked that someone would think this was an acceptable way to treat customers. I would like to see them improve in future if they intend to retain my business. read more

I received extremely poor service at the OC Primo. I placed an order via the Primo website for 4 sandwiches. The website required significant information and established a pick up time one hour after the order was placed. Upon arrival at the OCMD store, the employees could not use the order number from the website and did not have the order ready. Other customers came in, placed orders and were served before me. I felt that they just started my order when I arrived even though it was paid for in advance. I waited over an hour for ham, cheese and lettuce subs. Unacceptable. read more

A-ok is what I think 3 stars mean. Went in the off season (Nov) and the trade trucks in the parking lot were a good sign. A wide variety of names sandwiches. I went with a chicken cutlet cracked chicken. Small sandwich and 20 oz soda $10 all in. I sat at a bar stool table in the front..deli maybe sits 10 at most, view of coastal highway with one of the free papers were enjoyable. The sandwich was ok--cutlet was burned on the edges and not completely warmed up before delivery (cheese was also not melted). Flavors were good,not just spectacular. I'd be willing to try it again, but would perhaps check out some other local spots too to find something's it more enjoyable. **update: proactive business did respond to my ad, which I appreciate. Primo is one of the better sandwich options I've found in Ocean City. A branch of a sandwich chain originating in Philly's, it focuses mostly on their hoagies with an Italian/American slant. I was surprised to see a philly cheesesteak missing from the menu, in lieu of cold cut and chicken cutlet sandwiches, but there are other good options. We called in our order, it was recorded correctly, we were given a reasonable time frame to pick up, and the sandwiches were ready when we arrived. It also happens to be located next to a beer store, so you can do double duty while picking up. I got the Bada Bing, which is a chicken cutlet topped with sharp provolone and fresh broccoli rabe. The chicken they used was good quality and pounded thin. The bread wasn't great, but it was crisp and suitable for sandwiches. As advertised, the provolone they use is nice and spicy; most places use a cheap, flavorless provolone, which drives me nuts. The broccoli rabe used wasn't especially fresh, but it was still good and loaded with garlic. The sandwich was well made and seemed to have been made by someone who knew how to balance the ingredients together (shocking, I know!). A small size was also sufficient for lunch. I'll definitely order from here again next time I'm in OC. It may be a chain, but it's a chain that does things the right way. It's also light years better than places like Pizza Tugos, and although that normally isn't saying much, it sadly does say something for OC lunch options. read more

The roll is unique to Primo. Fresh and loaded with sesame seeds. The sub? Packed with the good stuff! Prosciutto, Provolone Cheese, Hot Capacola & Natural Casing Genoa Salami. Yes, the Capacola lives up to the heat. I had lettuce, tomato, onions and mayo added, along with pickles. Delicious. We used to have a Primos right next to our house in Virginia but Covid closed it down. So when we drove past this one in OC we were soooo excited. We ordered a few hoagies before they closed but when we got home one was the wrong order. No biggie it happens. Store was closed by the time we realized so I ran up the next morning and asked if they could remake it to the Suprimo (and brought in the wrong hoagie to show them). Such a godsend. From the time Subway, Quiznos, and the rest of the dreadful big chain, fast food style sub places showed up, great subs have been on the decline. Sadly, an entire generation of young people no longer understand what a *real* sub is- at least in Maryland. They think that Subway's generic lunchmeat and processed cheese products on a long doughy roll is a "sub." They have no clue. Primo returns their chance. All Primo's ingredients are authentic, top shelf - Thumann's Deli products. If there's any gripe at all it's that they over-stuff the hoagies TOO much. The rolls are baked on premises and are spot-on for what a sub roll should be. They're fresh, hearty but not overpowering. The sesame seeds are a unique touch. Even the olive oil is high quality. Everything comes together perfectly in what I would describe as a culinary work of art. It's definitely more Italian deli style rather than ma & pa sub shop (both of which are scarce now days) but "high-end" deli quality for sure. I've heard people complain they're expensive but that's a very myopic view in my opinion. You *really* get what you pay for in quality and quantity. The things are *HUGE*. My wife and I get two meals each out of a large one. And, so help me, they actually improve with age! They seem to marinate over night and are even better the next day. I can't do them justice with words. Nothing is perfect- you *will* wait for your order- even with no one ahead of you. It's worth it. The only negative I really have is that they are only open in season now. This is bad news for me since we only go to OC off season. I'm hoping this fact changes at some point. One other tiny nitpick. Their basic, signature hoagie, the "Italian" comes standard with *hot* Capacola. It's only if you read down to the next item that you find the "Mild Italian". This is backwards and on at least two occasions I forgot this fact and ordered the first item- which I naturally assumed was just your basic not hot version. Needless to say, I do not like hot spice. It seems to me the basic version should be first and called the "Italian"- the next should be called "Hot Italian." The hot version should get the descriptor. "Mild" should be the default. Not getting hots if you want them might be a disappointment, but getting them if you DON'T want them can ruin you meal. Imagine a burger joint having a "Hamburger" as the first item on their menu. You order it to find it's a tofu burger because you failed to look down to the next item which reads "Meat Hamburger." Doesn't make sense. I have to think others have made this mistake. In fact, I'm sure they have since I made the mistake again last time and when I went back to correct my order while it was being made, the manager finished my sentence for me with a nod and knowing smile. You can argue it's my fault, and technically it is, but bear in mind I only get to order these things once or twice a year. It's easy to forget the issue when you know what you want and figure you don't have to read whole menu. This would turn out to be my last from this store. I order the Aldie with mayo, Oil&vinegar on the side, and hot cherry peppers. It was like I was speaking a different language. After the gig I get back to the room and the hoagie doesn't have ANYTHING I ordered on it ! ! ! ! NO mayo, NO oil & vin and instead of hot cherry peppers the put roasted red peppers on it like you would get on a pizza ! All this for just less than $14.00 which is quite a premium price to not get ANYTHING right on your order ! ! ! ! They are now on probation for LIFE ! how can a restaurant be this disgusting and dirty seriously?? there are 40+ empty bread boxes all the time piled up in front of the outside windows with crumbs and seeds being ate by birds mice squirrels and chipmunks! then you go in and open soda cases all over the floor in waiting area which is a health violation as everything in a restaurant needs to be on shelves. they dont even organize the open cases just let them sit wherever. the open cooler with sides and salads looks like it hasnt been cleaned in years. what does the kitchen look like? plenty of more options in Ocean City that are clean and dont also cost $17+ for a damn hoagie. clean up this place! read more
