Small restaurant but it does get packed. Their menudo, served only on the weekend is delicious. Doesn't have an after taste. Their complimentary chips and salsa was good. Got a good spicy kick on both the green and red salsa. I ordered the small plate burrito and it was ok. The tortilla was a bit hard towards the edge. They do serve alcohol :) and to go I got an horchata which was made just right

I like when I'm the only Caucasian in an ethnic joint if everyone else looks like they are from the point of origin. So to put it another way, every TV was tuned into soccer this afternoon and there was no festive music playing to hike up perceived authenticity. That said, this place was so busy that my 15 min order turned into a 40 min wait. After changing a flat tire on the way here...it was par for the course today. So, I took pix of the menu and contemplated a shot of tequila but it was less a party place and more dive so I just edited those pix and wondered what could have been if this wasn't such a family-filled restaurant. As for the steak tacos and "red" sauce: Crispy bits of what I think was skirt steak turned out to be really good by everyone's opinion. I could tell they put pride into cooking it just right. However the sauce wasn't red. It was tasty but I wasn't blown away like some reviewers. 2000 is going on my list for a trial on steak/lengua and chorizo/egg burritos since they more than passed the taco test. Plus everyone working here was really trying hard to get the job done without breaking a sweat...it made for a good show. Till next time!

Dry tacos!!!! I just picked up food asked for salsa the lady said it was in the bag, there was no salsa or limes in the bag and I ordered a taco plate with cheese and they only put cheese on one taco. I ordered 2 Diet Cokes and 2 reg cokes and they gave me 4 regular cokes even when the two girls at the front confirmed 2 diet and two coke. If I could leave 0 stars I would. Better options out there. No silverware for my rice and beans.

Carne Asada burrito was excellent

Here is another place where I have driven by a thousand and one times before stopping in. This is a small place in an odd location but it has been here for years so they must be doing something right. Ordered some Al Pastor tacos and a Carne Asada burrito to go. There were probably about 10 people already in there before me and I had to wait a bit before my order was ready. No problem. Both the tacos and burritos were excellent so I plan on returning to sample other items...soon. Also, the lady that waited on me was quite friendly which is always nice. If you are in the area, give it a go.

Chips and two types of salsa!

If you like bland food..., here ya go. I've had rice cakes with more flavor. Taco Bell is better.

Also had the El Elote and these were not exactly my favorite version. There was a mix of several flavors. My main lunch was the Pescado Frito which I decided could actually be the best fish tacos I've ever had. Would definitely return for this dish. Needed a dessert so tried the Date Pudding. Expecting something resembling a pudding, was a little surprised that the dish was really a cake. Very tasty and definitely needed the ice cream on the side. Overall, was pleased with the offerings. Cost might have been a little steep for a casual lunch, but then again I did order several items.

The restaurant is medium sized, clean, and spacious, with a wide variety of menu options. They offer brunch, lunch, dinner, desserts, and happy hour which is a nice bonus. I do wish the happy hour details were listed on a menu or somewhere visible. Our server, who was new, let us know that margaritas were half of and only select tacos were $2 for taco Tuesday. We each ordered a margarita, which was deliciously only $6 each. For starters, we shared the "Los Tres Diaz" platter, which includes guacamole, elote and fish ceviche served with chips. Everything was fresh and flavorful and great way for two people to sample a bit of everything. As for the tacos, the happy hours election wasn't as appealing so I opted for the shrimp tacos. Instead, the order came with three good size tacos and although the rice and beans are available as an add-on they don't come with a meal. The highlight was definitely the mango pineapple, pico de gallo, and added so much flavor. Overall, we had a great experience. The food was delicious. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was relaxed. I'd definitely come back.

Ok, I was hungry for Mexican food. A SoCal transplant to Chicagoland, I gotta say I was missin' it…read more So, as hub-hub was out of town on family business, I headed over on a windy Saturday night for some grub! I was greeted immediately and enjoyed the ambience. A bit old, but still nice. It even looked like they had an windowed view spot where we could see....what... the tortillas, maybe, being made? A good sign. I was sat in a very lonely spot, at the far backside of the restaurant on the only 2-person table I saw. Oh, wonderful. It appeared the table hadn't been completely wiped clean, so I asked a busboy to wipe it down - he very promptly complied- nice. Ok- as the menus came, so did the tortilla chips and homemade salsa- wow. The chips were THICK and the sauce was really good- albeit a bit spicy (not a crime!). The waitress came over, introduced herself, and I promptly ordered their special drink- the "Mexican Mai-Tai". Gotta say it was good! I ordered off their special menu- enchiladas tomatillo with pollo (chicken). I swear, less than 2 minutes later came a small bowl of soup (not expected, but ok) - then less than 5 minutes after ordering the main? Came the main! The beans and rice were nice; it came with a bit of shredded lettuce- and the 3 enchiladas were not bad. At all. Definitely satisfied my craving for Mexican food! Why the demerits? The holy grail of any restaurant is always the service. Once I completed the mains, the busboy quickly took the dishes off the table. And then I waited. And waited. I flagged down a busboy and asked for my check- he said he'd flag down my waitress. And then I waited. After 15 minutes, I bagged it. I put on my jacket and went to the host desk and complained. Though I was able to pay at the front desk, why did I have to wait? What was so important on a not-so-busy Saturday night that meant I had to wait for my bill? Just awful, La Hacienda. I don't mind waiting a few minutes (most restaurants have this awful habit of making diners wait too long for their bills anyway, right?). But 15 minutes? And even after I pointed this out I still waited to no avail? No diner should ever be asked to wait until they "got around to it". Would I come again? Naw. Sorry, but even though the early part of the meal was great and I was speed-served the food? The finish killed it for me.
