Prices on the menu are about 30% higher than the menu lists. I think they are under new ownership. This is an old menu that has not been updated in at least 2 years. I bought something off the menu costing $14.95 and the menu has is listed as $9.00. Big price difference! Food is not like before, portions of meat are far less than before. Mexico 2000 creates delicious Mexican food! I have tried a few dishes mostly for lunch but sometimes for dinner. Everything we have ever ordered was hot, delicious. I especially like their Tampiquena dish. The tamales are outstanding, and their salsa are excellent. The service is very good, and the restaurant is staffed with friendly people. My wife and I will go there regularly, and try more menu items. This is the best authentico Mexican restaurant in Lombard. read more

Small restaurant but it does get packed. Their menudo, served only on the weekend is delicious. Doesn't have an after taste. Their complimentary chips and salsa was good. I went to this place and leave after 10 minutes waiting for order my food they not taking they was not even busy ,it was few waitresses there and the waitress who put the menus on my table she takes other table instead of my table i didn't have chips and salsa for the time that I waited, this is my third time there this way I went ,the others times the service was good and they food too, but not on this time so I don't think i will be back. read more

Passed this place early this morning and had to turn around when we saw it was open for breakfast. My husband loves chorizo but I decided to skip it. He ordered the Huevo con Papa y Chorizo ($9.50) which is Mexican sausage with potato and eggs. It came with five tortillas, beans, rice, and a side each of the red salsa and verde. They wrapped the corn tortillas in foil and they were piping hot which is nice since we took the food to go. I had no plans on eating any of it, just because I tend not to like chorizo or refried beans, but I took a taste and was hooked! The refried beans were very flavorful and the single order was enough food for us to share. The verde was delicious, and the red salsa, which we usually avoid, was super spicy but good too. I like when I'm the only Caucasian in an ethnic joint if everyone else looks like they are from the point of origin. So to put it another way, every TV was tuned into soccer this afternoon and there was no festive music playing to hike up perceived authenticity. That said, this place was so busy that my 15 min order turned into a 40 min wait. After changing a flat tire on the way here...it was par for the course today. So, I took pix of the menu and contemplated a shot of tequila but it was less a party place and more dive so I just edited those pix and wondered what could have been if this wasn't such a family-filled restaurant. As for the steak tacos and "red" sauce: Crispy bits of what I think was skirt steak turned out to be really good by everyone's opinion. I could tell they put pride into cooking it just right. However the sauce wasn't red. It was tasty but I wasn't blown away like some reviewers. 2000 is going on my list for a trial on steak/lengua and chorizo/egg burritos since they more than passed the taco test. Dry tacos!!!! I just picked up food asked for salsa the lady said it was in the bag, there was no salsa or limes in the bag and I ordered a taco plate with cheese and they only put cheese on one taco. I ordered 2 Diet Cokes and 2 reg cokes and they gave me 4 regular cokes even when the two girls at the front confirmed 2 diet and two coke. If I could leave 0 stars I would. Better options out there. Here is another place where I have driven by a thousand and one times before stopping in. This is a small place in an odd location but it has been here for years so they must be doing something right. Ordered some Al Pastor tacos and a Carne Asada burrito to go. There were probably about 10 people already in there before me and I had to wait a bit before my order was ready. No problem. Both the tacos and burritos were excellent so I plan on returning to sample other items...soon. Also, the lady that waited on me was quite friendly which is always nice. I used to eat here a lot when I had business up in DuPage County. I always enjoyed the food. When ordering, be sure to tell them if you want the meal more or less spicy. I like my food hot, so I usually add more hot sauce but not here. I tell them that I like it hot and I get what I ordered. No need for extra hot sauce. It's always tasty food. read more

This place is GREAT! The food here is great. Everything is delicious. Good breakfasts, good lunch, and dinners. They even have some things your standard taco place does not have. For example, Huarache, which is a hand made oblong shaped tortilla topped with refried beans, lettuce, cheese, sauce, cactus, and steak. Delicious. My 5 year old loves the eggs and wieners for breakfast. This is scrambled eggs with hot dog slices. Even though my son likes to eat them separate, they are happy to accommodate. Last week my husband tried a burrito there, he said it was the best he has had. When my family visits we are always the only white people. Luckily, the servers speak fluent English because my Spanish is sub-par. I only wish this place had a larger dining room...and cocktails. But I can live without that. read more

I used to love this place. Every weekend I would come and order between 30 to 60 tamales for my work team. They had great taste and the ladies had bee so sweet, nice and polite... am talking about 8 to 9 months ago. I always wait 24 hours or more to write a review as to make sure the food first agrees with my system! Holy smokes, great experience. My wife had the tacos pollo , I had one lengua, Al Pastor and at the suggestion of our kind and knowledgeable server, the beef that had been marinating in beer. Each taco had it's own unique flavor with the right amount of seasoning. The cat's meow here is the red salsa. Kinda funny because our server gave us fair warning about the heat and as usual shrugged it off. She was right in a great way, this stuff was kicked up and had so much complex flavors going on. My wife and I got another bowl of it and figured out that one of the secrets to the flavor was horseradish!! Our server confirmed that so in addition to some very good food the salsa is the hook that will bring us back in the future. An added plus is that the place was extremely clean and we could see into the kitchen, nothing hidden and no Montezuma's Revenge. One suggestion is to serve pickled peppers, onion, carrot & cauliflower at the tables like La Herradura or the chain Los Camales. A small Taco restaurant that has several locations. All of them are consistent and pretty reliable with authentic tasting mexican food. The place is small and has little parking so a take out is more in order with this place. There are not many places to eat in the surrounding area so this place is a welcome addition. read more

They are less of a cookie cutter taco joint and more of a Mexican carry out and eat in. The food is great and my family go here every Sunday morning. They aren't posh but just a simple place with good food. Try exploring some of the specialties on the menu. They will catch you off hairs with how they are. read more

Love this place!! I work right down the street. My co-workers and I always eat there once a week or twice, like we are this week. I always get their chicken tacos, and they are wonderful and really authentic, not to mention reasonably priced. I get 3 tacos for about $6.50, and they stuff them full. So glad I found out about this little gem. They even have a drive-up window! That is a plus when you are in a hurry to get back and eat lunch. Stopped in after reading the reviews and was pleasantly surprised, the chips they serve when you sit down were warm and crunchy and they serve you red and green salsa both were authentic and had a nice kick. I ordered green Enchiladas suizas with picadillo (ground beef) and they were very tasty again they were a bit spicy which is perfectly ok with me, I also tried a green tamal which really wasn't that great it had very little filling and it was kinda dry, the quesadillas with handmade tortillas were also pretty good and were a nice size although it would have been nice to know they were fried.. All that being said this is one of the better mexican restaurants I've tried in the area and I would definitely come back and try the other dishes they offer, the staff was really friendly. One more thing to note is that this restaurant is pretty small there were 4 tables for 2-3 people mac and two larger tables for possibly 6 people each.. Hope this helps :) read more

The food is excellent, very delicious and authentic. But the service is HORRIBLE! One of the waitresses with black hair, often wears it in a pony tail is rude! Went with my family and she completely stop attending our table, completely disregarded us and never came back, not even to bring the check.
