I had a wonderful experience at Primp Style Lounge! I am not one to get my hair done but since we were going to a big horse race event, I decided to treat myself! This is such a cute shop and everyone was so sweet! I called in advance to let them know that I had really thick hair and I wanted to make sure enough time had been booked for my style out. I never felt rushed and my stylist took her time and even helped me put my Fascinator on! Primp style lounge is your One-Stop shop for all things beauty. I am decisive and know what I like. As a hair stylist myself, one with thick curly hair, I normally do not find someone to style it in a way that fits my needs. Demi has done a phenomenal job every time she works on my mane. The owner, Shannon, is a doll! Both locations are beautifully decorated and styled. But then again, Shannon is a personal stylist in offers the service and primp style lounge so you really can't go wrong. Eufora products are what graces your hair follicles. Plant based and enhanced with organic essential oils.. you cannot go wrong. I have used the Curl N line through Eufora on myself for six years now. I can't say enough good things about Primp. I've been going there every week since they opened. I moved to DC and can't find anywhere that comes close to Primp. I've had a regular style, braids, updos, and makeup. They do it all and do it with great skill. Everyone there is friendly and respectful. I've seen them deal with some pretty picky and difficult clients. They are so classy in how they handle these situations! I've watched them redo hair on a few people just to make sure they were satisfied! (BTW the hair looked great the first time but the client wanted something else so they accommodated. ) They use quality hair products and the salon is very clean! If you hate places where the music blares and the products are over perfumed, then you will love Primp! read more

I wanted to get a blowout for my bridal shower, because I kept hearing about blowout bars and I really didn't want to fix my own hair! SO I was gonna go to the new Drybar, but luckily I did some research on Yelp, which lead me to Primp Style Lounge. The reservation process was a little funky, it could have been the computer I was on though. So, I tried to call a bunch and schedule it that way and they didn't pick up the phone over the course of an hour or 2. That was my only beef with the salon, as the rest of my experience was great. Samantha was my stylist, and she was wonderful. She offered me coffee when I walked in, which was great because it was 9 am. She was friendly, and obviously knew what she was doing. When I had her tweak a few things at the end she gladly did, and made sure that I was happy with my look. Ooh, and she massaged my head when she washed it, which I'm sure comes standard with the service but man, was it nice. I never knew what the fuss was about when it comes to blowout bars, but now I see the light! I can't rationalize having these done weekly, but I will definitely return for special occasions. It was definitely worth the money, and we all deserve getting pampered every once and a while! Hands down best blowout bar in Louisville and surrounding area! Shannon the owner is the sweetest most down to earth girl, and she only hires girls likes herself! Every primper I've seen has done an excellent job on my hair. If I want more shine I ask, more hairspray ask. A tighter or looser braid ask. These girls can't read your minds, simply tell them the style you have in mind and they will make it happen. It will last 4-5 days. Mine last a week at times. Thank the Lord for dry shampoo. I got married a few weeks ago, and I had a great experience at Primp. First off the place is adorable and the staff was very welcoming and helpful. Kelsey styled my hair and she did a wonderful job, we did a test run a few weeks before and it was exactly the style I wanted. I got the Wedding Knot (of course) and I was glad they were flexible and worked with me to create the hairstyle I wanted. Everything turned out gorgeous, and it held up through the end of the night. Danielle styled all three of my bridesmaids hair, they got the Marie Claire style which is a great price and she did a great job. It's a very classy updo. Danielle also did my make up, I got the Glamour package and I was glad I did. They use high quality and professional makeup that lasted and looked great an natural in photos. Cost wise I thought everything was very reasonable, especially for a wedding party. So, needless to say, overall I had a superb experience and would definitely recommend Primp for anyone! read more

These people are ANGELS! The place I made a hair and makeup reservation with did not show up on my wedding day and Primp saved me. They were able to get me in within the hour. Samantha was the sweetest. She worked fast and my hair and makeup were beautiful!! We brought in prosecco and made a huge mess while we made my wedding bouquet. The salon is beautiful and bright. The good: My hair turns out beautiful when I come here! I had my hair styled on Saturday for a wedding and 2 days later it still looks great after a little dry shampoo! The Manager noticed a stray uncurled hair when I was walking out the door and made sure it was fixed and perfect before I left. The bad: I have to give 4 stars because I felt like I was being sold the various styling products the *entire* time I was in the chair, to the point where I finally had to say I wasn't going to be purchasing any products and just started reading emails. I hate hate hate when salons do this- it really takes away from the overall experience and I end up tipping *less*. read more

The salon is decorated in very soothing colors with a little glitz thrown in. The seats are white leather and comfortable. I was escorted to the washing-sink exactly at my appointed time. My hair dresser (Demi) was very friendly and happy. I enjoyed my hair being washed, and the products she used in my hair smelled good. I was happy with my final blow-out. Save your time and money, do it yourself. I bid on 4 free blowouts at a charity auction. I had some big events coming up and thought it would be a good excuse to get my hair done. I went in the very first time and I will never go back. 1) the stylist did not put too much attention into what I wanted at all. I said big loose kinda beachy girls but nothing too tight. I said a little tighter at first maybe a little but my hair holds curl well. She gave me super tight tiny ringlets with the flat iron. She curled tiny strands and did not blend my extensions to my real hair AT ALL. I looked horrible. My short hair was super curly and my extensions were a mess. 2) She put so much texturizing spray and hairspray in my hair that it was stiff. I would pull one piece and who whole head of hair would move. I went to tip so I asked for change for a $20 and what the original amount was. They gave me all 5's and 20% was only about $7-8 but she said "All 5's is ok right?" and I felt obligated to give her 2 5's. Even though I despised my hair. I will never go back. Thank goodness I moved up my appointment because I went home and had to wash it all out and redo it myself. read more

You get a different stylist every time so there is no consistency. No matter how many times I explain what I want they always do the same thing, which is give me a messy, I just woke up look with a cute name like "cosmotini " I had a membership and it was so difficult to cancel, so don't get sucked into that. Have been here twice and both times my hair fell flat within a few hours. Staff is nice enough and the salon is cute, but teeny tiny. It's easy to miss, as they don't have any window access and their hours are a bit wonky. It's "okay", but I've been to A LOT of blowout bars and it doesn't seem like Primp has a good "process" -- wash, dry, curling iron, wash, dry, curling iron. Somehow it seems like the "styling" part that I'm paying for is missing. I can wash, dry, curling iron my own hair at home for free. read more

Came here recently for a blow-out for a special dinner. I have to be honest, I just wasn't crazy about my results. My regular stylist at my salon does an incredible job ( she wasn't available)and this just didn't compare. I have very nice hair, a couple of inches below shoulder length and my hair is usually always shiny (especially after a blowout) -- after I had this blowout done my hair was dry, sticky and dull looking and it felt very flyaway. I am not sure if it was the products they used that weighed down and dulled my hair? I also noticed another lady that was having her hair done and hers didn't look much better than mine -- ugh! I hate to be critical b/c this place is very nice (great concept) -- it's cutesy and my stylist was very personable and very nice. The owner was really nice also. I love the nice touches that they included -- drink with a pink straw, little treats etc. Definitely awesome service but ultimately what counts is whether you are satisfied with the result and unfortunately, I was not.
