This review is for Prince Umbertos near Wantagh McDonadls!!!! Literally the worst pizza I've ever had on Long Island. Cardboard crust , gross cheese. I had the lunch special ; even hot out of the oven the cheese didn't look melted. I've lived in Wantagh 30 yrs it had never been there before. I was in a rush so I went there instead of Umbertos. Never again. Drive another few minutes to Umbertos , Bramalo, Phil's, Stew Leonard's pizza is amazingLiterally anywhere else. I took one slice to go and the TOP of the bad was soaking wet with grease when I got home 5 min later. There's no Diet Coke in the Coca Cola fridge or fountain. The man at the counter with the mustache was cranky and borderline rude. Now I understand why it was empty at 1 pm. When you read the good reviews , most of them seem to be for UMBERTOS further north on Wantagh Ave across from Cherrywood . read more

The Prince has some of the best slices on Long Island! I only order pizza from here and you will not be disappointed. Not a big area for dining as this is more of a takeout place, but they do have half a dozen booths where you can grab a slice for a quick meal. Pizza is ok however buyer be ware to check your change. I ordered a pizza along with 2 pinwheels and a slice gave them guy $50 dollar bill on a $28 charge and picked up the pizza box. He handed me the change with a $10 dollar bill on top so i thought oh there was another one under it and put the change in my pocket. Got home only to find out that he shorted me $10. They have a good selection of chicken rolls, calzones, and pinwheels as well. They also offer gluten free pizzas and calzones. Long Island- Otherwise known as the land of Pizza. So many places, so many sub-par slices. In the 5 years I've lived in the area, I never went to Prince Umberto's. A few weeks ago I didn't have a car so I went walking to find some grub and figured since I was trekking my bum 4 miles (round trip), I could chow down on some unhealthy, cheesy, bready goodness. The menu doesn't have the bells and whistles of today's pizzerias. Just your basic, old school slices, calzones, rolls and such. I ordered a regular slice ($2.50) and a broccoli spinach pinwheel with sauce on the side ($1.50). It was the pizza of my childhood......crunchy crust and a well balanced ratio of sauce (the best I've had in the area!) & cheese. The pinwheel was STUFFED with melty cheese, tons of veggies and the center was the pinnacle of pinwheels. Slightly doughy (but not undercooked), cheesy, truly the "sweet spot". read more

Not good. The pizza slice does not hold up under its own weight. Needs a knife and fork. The dough was undercooked (not cooked) under the sauce and cheese. The sauce and cheese were tasteless. I had to excessively cover this slice with parm and garlic to get any taste. The parm and garlic had little taste also. I could taste the root-beer at least that was good. Not even good at $6.50 for two slices and a drink. I would pay much more for better product. I often wonder if the owners don't taste their product or just don't care that it's not good. read more

This place is small, but is conveniently located across the street from the train station and it has a really warm, friendly feel to it. Not a huge selection of slices, but I always judge by the plain slice, and this was a good one- thin crust, great sauce and not too much cheese. Stumbled into Prince Umberto pizza by chance or maybe it was the name that led me,I think thier other location is in Franklin Square and it's known by all for amazing Italian food and pizza!, Anyway here you have a mom-and-pop type pizza place place w less then 8 tables which is my favorite, it's basically pizza made by Italians, it's actually the way it was intended to be! LOL now I'm only speaking on behalf of the magnificent slice I had and for lunch and my taste buds are still in Heaven! Probably one of the best slices I've had on Long Island, you could tell that use top-quality cheese, the sauce is like grandma would make with just the right amount of herbs, and a delicious crust, I could probably inhale a whole pie if i wanted to, it was that good, The garlic knots were just as good, and they're always better fresh right after opening which is what I got,the guys behind the counter were extremely friendly and if I'm nearby I will definitely come back for lunch and maybe even dinner although it looks to be more of a takeout joint which is perfectly fine. Love this place. It's great. Good pizza and good entrées. Also like that offer the option to out sesame seeds on the crust which is delicious. They also offer awesome family package deals during the week. My only complaint as of now is their meatballs. I think they try to skimp on the meat to save money and fill it with too much breadcrumbs or something because they are super mushy and tasteless. These guys have the best pizza in town, regular pie, meatball, pepperoni.. I think I just identified my usual orders, except for extra sauce and "well done", there now they know it's me. They're all Mets fans in there but a nice bunch that gets the pies out in time, hot and by far has the best sauce. I'll even pick up some dough from these guys at times so my boys can make pizza at home and the proof is in the dough. I have been to the nail salon in that shopping center so many times, and never even saw the pizza place...how is that even possible?!? So I tried Prince Umberto's for the first time mainly because I saw a sign in the window stating they offer some gluten free items.
