Avoid at all cost. They WILL let you down. Just had a terrible experience with Priv. Booked them for hair and makeup for my daughter & three friends for prom. They sent one hairstylist who said she'd only be able to do two--maybe three--of them. Both the stylist and Priv customer service were totally unhelpful. I requested a cut and blow dry for my 93 years young mother and Priv sent us the most lovely, kind and excellent stylist named Jeri. she was so kind to my mother and had such a great personality and my mother felt comfortable with her right away. she did a truly beautiful hair cut and blow out. beGlammed is a lifesaver! TL;DR: Great option if you need hair and makeup for a last-minute event. If you have the budget and want a flawless look, go for the "Elite" stylist. I needed to hire a hair stylist to come to my house really early in the morning (6am!) because I planned a last-minute photoshoot at the tidal basin during cherry blossom season. I only had three days to get a photographer, makeup artist, and hair stylist. I was able to find the photographer on Thumbtack and my wedding makeup artist was available, however I had no luck finding a hair person so last minute. I even messaged stylists on Instagram - but they were already booked or took too long to respond. It was Friday, and my photoshoot was happening on Saturday at 9am! Now I know I could just curl my own hair, but I wanted something special for these photos that I was already paying a premium for. I decided to try my luck with beGlammed, despite limited customer reviews for DC. I called their customer service line asking about the difference between an "Expert" and an "Elite" stylist and they were really courteous and helpful. Basically, I wanted professional curls and a braid element. Since the braid would require "lifting" my hair, I was advised to choose the "Updo" option. This is $85 for an Expert and $195 for an Elite stylist. I couldn't justify over double the price for an Elite (that's more expensive than my wedding day hair!) so I just went with the Expert option and hoped for the best. You fill out the beGlammed services form and pay upfront (gratuity and tax included). This is unlike Thumbtack, which allows you to submit a project for free. Within TWO minutes, I got an email saying a local hair stylist (Tamia) was available! I called her to confirm she's a real person (I'm paranoid like that) and was delighted to hear that she could make it at 6am. My makeup person was coming at 7am, and we had to leave the house by 8am to make it to the tidal basin on time for the photoshoot. Stress level - 7! Saturday morning comes around and Tamia is right on time. I cleared my dining table and set up a space for the magic to happen. I showed Tamia some photos of waterfall braids, and she quickly got started with curling my hair. When she got to the braiding part, I wasn't really sure what was happening since I didn't have a big mirror in front of me Lol. It didn't feel like a waterfall braid, but I trusted her expertise and just let her work. When she was done, I looked in the mirror and freaked out a little. It wasn't exactly what I asked for - it actually seemed MORE complicated! She did a fishtail headband braid. My hair was really frizzy (it's dry from balayage) but the style looked great. After getting makeup done, spraying on more hairspray, the look came together and I really loved it. The headband braid looked better in photos because you could see the details on the side and top of my head. If she had done a waterfall - it would've been pointless because it's a portrait photoshoot with mostly headshots (you'd never see the back of my head). So, I think it was a really smart call on her part to do the headband style. Anyway, the shoot went great and I've been recommending beGlammed to my friends. Thanks for saving my bum! read more

I tried literally 15 times to get someone to come out for a mani/pedi. I'd pick an option for the time...get a message 5 minutes later saying no one was available. Just show me the actual availability then!!!! So frustrating. Finally someone came, and not only was it a bad manicure but it took forever. If I could give 0 stars, I would. I thought this would be a convenient option for my team and I as we prepared for our company's gala. We collectively spent over $500 to have our hair/makeup done and upon polling the group, 75% of us felt completely dissatisfied with our experience. For me, I had to re-do my hair AND my makeup. I wish I could post pictures, but it was so bad, I can't bring myself to do it. I'm embarrassed at the money I spent to look like a wet dog. Let me start here: the hair stylist didn't even use a MIRROR and her work was completely rushed. I showed her what I wanted and she didn't even try to make the look work. Soft curls away from my face and teased for some volume. My side part was crooked, she curled my hair TOWARDS my face instead of away from my face, then, she decided to spray me down with grandma's hairspray that literally caused my hair to stick together. She didn't even tease my hair - mostly because I don't think she had a teasing comb.....god forbid she brings the necessary tools. She proceeded to clip my hair so the makeup artist could do her work, and then my hair got STUCK to other curls and was so flat I felt that she had used glue to hold it in place. When I asked her to fix it, she curled one piece and proceeded to pack her stuff up and leave. She took no pride in her work and definitely didn't care what I looked like. The makeup artist - she wasn't nearly as bad as the hair stylist, but pretty damn close. I asked her for a winged cat eye - you know, the look EVERY makeup artist is posting on IG. Nope, instead she lined my eyes so heavily I looked like a 13-year old just doing her makeup for the first time. I didn't even get the wing.....I then asked her to overline my lips. Now, I have small lips, but I they have a great shape. Not only did she not overline them, she missed 50% of my right lip and barely put on lipstick. Once again, had to re-do all of that. I then called corporate the following day to let them know we had been overcharged for blo-outs/styling when we really just had styles. Still waiting on them to credit my account. I have never felt so disappointed in professional hair/makeup services before in my life. I was so close to washing my hair, removing my makeup, and just starting again. I had to completely re-do my hair, fix my part, and try to fix the greasy residue she left on my head from all the tresemme old-school hairspray. It was so heartbreaking when I expected expert work and instead received really terrible service. I will certainly never be using them again. The convenience factor is nice, but the stylists need A LOT of work. So BeGlammed, you should vet your contractor's and work on teaching them how to be better professionals and make their clients feel like kings and queens - not an inconvenience. read more

I think BeGlammed is a really good concept. It's like uber for hair and makeup and booking was super easy. The 3 stars is because I thought one of my stylists was awful, but I really liked the other one. I got hair and makeup done for my super small, low key wedding. Tamia was the one who did my hair and I thought she was great! I didn't know exactly what I wanted, just a vague concept, and she was able to work with that and did a wonderful job. She even asked to see the dress I was wearing so she could create the right hairstyle. The person who did my makeup was Nicolette, and honestly, she was the only thing I truly regret from my wedding day. I asked for subtle lash extensions and after struggling to put them on for 20 mins (it seemed like maybe she'd never used them before), she finally gave up and suggested a full set of lashes instead. I agreed, but asked for whatever would be the most subtle. She struggled for another 15 minutes and when she gave me the mirror to look at the lashes, I gasped and asked her to please take them off because they looked awful. I honestly didn't know that fake lashes could look THAT fake and garish. She said she couldn't take them off because then it would ruin my other makeup and stupid me just said ok. I should've insisted that she just redo my eye makeup, but I stupidly accepted what she said. The fake lashes were several mm above my real lashes, so i at least insisted that she move them down. I also tried to fix it myself as best as I could with a little extra eye liner, but I still cringe looking at pictures. She also attempted to put lipstick on me and it was truly baffling that anyone could apply lipstick so terribly. She colored outside my lips in several places so i looked like a psychotic clown. I took the lipstick off the minute she left. I also ended up having to scrub off eyelash glue from my face in several places. She also did a mediocre job on my mom's makeup. After she finished, my mom asked her to fix a huge glob of eyeliner or mascara that was below her eye. Instead of fixing it, Nicolette handed her a makeup wipe. My mom ended up redoing her makeup after the makeup artist left. So if you book, I recommend going with someone other than Nicolette. She was very sweet, but not good at makeup. read more

Suggested this place to my girlfriend for new years eve. She paid for dry styling which they did a good job, but failed to mention the surge fee which they say they are going to refund and they also failed to mention that there was a gratuity fee so they tipped and then was charged for a tip. Would not recommend to anyone. read more
