This place is messed up. I came in (for the 2nd time) asked for just a slight trim, but this time Ken cut off several inches worth of growth in the back and thinned it out in a super awkward way. It's like he purposely tried to screw up my hair. He literally did the opposite of what I asked. I'm going to have to cut it all down short and start over. I was polite in every way. I'm always humble and appreciative when soliciting/receiving a service like this. And I tipped the time prior. Maybe someone made him angry earlier that day. It feels petty to leave a bad review, but your hair is a big part of your appearance. This felt personal. It's ridiculously insulting when you ask someone not to cut your hair shorter (just trim the split ends, please), and then they proceed to cut off MULTIPLE inches. I bought my daughter here. She got her hair cut maybe 2-3 inches in the back. No styling, no washing, just cut. They charged $50! For a haircut that took 35 minutes. Ken complained that it took much more time - He is incorrect. Rip off. Never again. I don't care how nice you are. You don't take cash only, and then charge inappropriate prices. Extremely happy the husband and wife duo are back open for business! If you need a little TLC during these times you gotta come here! Went in for a long overdue haircut earlier in the week and felt safe to come back today to sit in the chair for 4hrs to have my hair straightened. The salon has always been clean but they're taking extra care to keep us safe. Precautions: upon arrival I was asked to sanitize my hands, had my temperature taken, they're sanitizing waiting chairs/stations after each customer, social distancing, taking appointments only to limit the amount of customers and of course masks are kept on at all times. Its safer here than the grocery stores or outdoor dining (which I have yet to do)! read more

I love Ken and Lisa. Ken has been my hairstylist for more than 10 years. He understands Asian hair: how to color it, how to cut it, how to layer it. Before I found Ken and Lisa, I suffered from so many tragic haircuts and bad color jobs. That all changed after I started seeing Ken. My hair is very fine, very straight, heavy, and thick, even for Asian hair. I like my hair to look natural, and I need morning styling to take minutes with just a blow dryer and a brush. Ken really delivers. My color always looks so natural, fresh, and shiny. Ken only uses top notch Goldwell coloring, that is gentle on my hair, but lasts. He's a great colorist. I particularly appreciate the fact that, long ago, Ken listened to me and understood that I don't have a lot of time in the morning to style my hair, so he designed a long layered style that I can perfect in minutes, using an inexpensive quality hairdryer and inexpensive static free round brush! Prior to the pandemic, I had been coming to see Ken to get my and my kid's hair cut for years. As a barber, he leaves nothing to be desired. He's friendly, skilled, consistent, and a consummate professional. During 2020, we opted to stay home and try the YouTube School of Hairstyling, but recently decided to try going back to Private I Salon. There were a few changes, including a slightly more-spaced-out waiting area, everyone wearing masks, and the blue jug of Barbacide replaced with hand sanitizer, but otherwise, Ken did a great job as usual, and skillfully cut and trimmed around the straps on our masks. As usual, we came out looking immaculate, and as usual, were charged the extremely reasonable cost of $25 per haircut (haircut + shampoo will run you $35 here). Unless something changes with the state of the pandemic, we plan to keep coming to see Ken for as long as we can. read more
