Then foam-sealed gaps, pipes, wiring holes, etc. before laying down thicker, higher R-38 insulation - sealing & insulating the hatch too as they noted a lot of heat from it. I can't recommend these guys enough. I recently had them rodent proof my home and I found them to be very professional, knowledgable, responsive and thorough. We needed to install access to our attic crawlspace, so an electrician and insulation contractor could inspect the area before doing an insulation project. David came on short notice, on time, and did a great job installing a trapdoor/hatch in our closet ceiling. Pro Attic was one of the 5 companies I found on Yelp and had come out to quote removal of old attic insulation, sanatizing, rodent abatement and proofing, adding new insulation and a whole house fan, a new furnace, removing asbestos insulated original ductwork and and installing new ductwork. Miguel was able to come out within 2 days of my request for quote and asked to show up early, which was nice. He was courteous and explained their products and how the removal and install would be carried out. I wanted one company to do the work as opposed to scheduling multible companies installing their specialized areas of expertise and Pro Attic fit the bill in this regard. They were able to start the job in less than two weeks time and the work took 2 1/2 days to complete, It included a HERS test (passed), permit and furnace inspection, which passed with no issues. The employees that did the work took care to seal off work areas to minimise dust and dirt from our living area and cleaned up after the end of the each day. We were a little concerned of being without heat (should have had this done in the summer) but that was only for 1 day so no problem there. All of the old ducting and insulation were bagged up and carted away, along with the old furnace. The old furnace location was not an option for the new install due to space contraints that would not pass inspection. David came out, looked at the area and offered a alternative mounting location which was a lot better than the old location and gave the necessary access that would pass inspection, plus it provided better access to the water heater and other things in that space. Nicely done. There was a small mishap where a sawsall cut into the wood fooring in the hallway to create a passthgrough for cold air return duct. They were more than apologetic and assured me they would make it right. I had my doubts but I have to say they impressed me. i can tell the difference from the surrounding wood but I would challenge someone to find that area. The fit was good and the finish closely matched the surrounding area. There was also some sheetrock cut during the installation of a bedroom heater duct that needed additional mud and texture that they again assured me that it would be taken care of and they did. Nice job again! Pro Attic far exceeded my expectations and the cost was very reasonable. Very efficient and organized with attention to detail. If you live in the Bay Area and need this kind of work done call this company. You won't regret it. read more

I waited for 1 full month before giving an honest review, so here we go. I absolutely 1000000% recommend Pro Attic Restoration. Our ducts were completely bad, our furnace was old, and we had open tubes inside our attic- exposing bad air and uneven heating throughout our home. Worse- our house didn't come with a return when it was built, which meant gross air coming from our crawl space and circulating back to the air we were breathing in. Pro Attic walked us through the process on how to effectively update our heating system at a fair price. We worked with David and Jose and both were professional, honest, went over every single question I asked, patient (I'm a worry wort) and gentle with the process. The 35 years old house had original insulation. I met with Miguel for consultation to replace the attic insulation. After performing a thorough check in the attic, he provided several choices of insulation out there today. He took pictures of attic and advised that rodent prevention treatment is needed. The old insulation was only 4 inches in depth and not up to today's building code. I received the estimates on the same day with itemized detail work that will be done. Nice. I went with cellulose blown-in R44 installation. Setting appointment for install was super easy, and they accommodated my tight schedule. On install date, Luis and his crew arrived sharply at 8:30am. I was amazed how efficient they worked, and made sure that all areas are covered with protective sheets. I like that. Throughout the install process, pictures were taken to show the clean attic, the mesh screens and sealants applied in gaps for rodents prevention, and the new blown-in insulation with at least R44 thickness (16"). I had an opening on the first floor ceiling from a past water leak. Luis was super nice and patched it up as a complimentary service. Excellent. As a homeowner and general contractor, it is not often your expectations are exceeded! I was so happy with Pro Attic from the quotations, to the day of installation to follow up. These guys are true professionals. I did not have one item I could complain about (not that I'm trying). We had them do a new installation of furnace and AC and full attic insulation replacement. The quotation process was fast, easy and reasonable. The scheduling was fast and great. They were on time, showed up 15 minutes early and were at work right at the scheduled time. They proceeded to seal off the house with a plastic sheeting tunnel so they were extremely clean. We were in the process of selling the house so being clean was really great! No mess, no dust afterward. The entire process was quoted to be a two day schedule, they worked really hard and had it done in one day. The work was very well done. Pro Attic Restoration installed a whole house fan in our home. They were professional from the initial contact to the final installation. They performed an in-house (and in-attic) inspection to give an accurate estimate. They went above and beyond to seal light fixtures in the attic to prevent the fan from drawing air through them. The installation took 3-4 hours. They took great care to drape and tape everything including the stairs to prevent a mess from the ceiling access. They installed a QuietCool STL Pro 4.8x and it works great. As soon as the temperature outside drops below the inside temperature, I open two windows downstairs and turn on the fan. The breeze through the house provides immediate relief. I run it all night and in the morning the house is significantly cooler, avoiding the need for the A/C until much later in the day. My attic is boring now. Just the way it should be. I contacted Pro Attic to have a bathroom ceiling fan vented to the outside. Eduardo was my contact, and I had him scope out the attic when he came over. He found the insulation looking thin in several areas, with the attic in a dingy state including rodent droppings and a wasp comb. Not wanting my attic to continue being a Mardis Gras for pests, I decided to have Pro Attic clean it up and install new R38 insulation. I had the choice between CertainTeed and Knauf EcoBatt insulation, and I opted for the latter after many questions to Eduardo. I also had him update the estimate to mention faced instead of unfaced insulation, as I'd done some research and decided that faced might be better. He did so without increasing the total cost (faced is slightly more expensive). What went well during installation: * The crew worked quickly and had everything done in several hours * They put plastic sheets over the work area and hallway, and they mindfully put on shoe covers to avoid tracking dirt through the house. The interior was spotless when they were done * Eduardo showed me pictures, and I also inspected the attic and roof. It looked like the crew did a thorough job with cleaning and sealing the attic, installing baffles, and laying insulation evenly. They also seem to have done a good job in weather-proofing the vent they installed on the roof * The crew sealed a hole under the roof leading into the garage (not part of the attic), and installed screens on my plumbing vents, work that they were not obligated to do * They brought a new ceiling fan to replace my old one without charging me for it What could've been better: * The fact that I'd asked for faced insulation was not communicated to the crew, and they had brought unfaced. I then spoke with Eduardo and he told me that unfaced was standard for installs in the area, and asked if I would accept the aforementioned ceiling fan as compensation, which I agreed to * Though they cleaned up relatively well, I found a couple nails and a screwdriver left over after the crew had left. This is probably minor as far as big jobs go All said, I'm pretty happy with the results, and our home has retained heat noticeably better after the new insulation was put in. The price was reasonable, and though Pro Attic charges a 1.89% fee for credit cards, it's a lower fee than what many other contractors charge. 4.5 stars overall for the service and work they provided, and I would definitely use them again for future work. read more

David and his team are really great! I needed to have a few vents moved, and they were able to come and give me a quote the day I called him, and he was able to schedule me for the next day! I was worried about having to repair the holes in the subfloor where the old vents were, but David was able to give me a very reasonable quote to move the vents and repair the old subfloor at the same time. He also noticed we had a rat problem in our crawlspace, and walked me through the steps we needed to take to handle that, and I was happy to work with him and his team again to get the old insulation removed, rat-proof our crawlspace, and get everything sanitized. I interviewed 3 of the top rated insulation companies in the South Bay and decided to go with Pro Attic Restoration because they were the most detail oriented and competent of the 3. Miguel from their team is a genuinely good person who wants to ensure they do the job well. I have kids who are chemically sensitive so I was looking for a non toxic insulation solution. Pro Attic did a wonderful job replacing old fiberglass insulation (toxic) with hempwool in my attic. They minimized the fiberglass getting into our living space as they removed it (by using special air pressure machines). And the hempwool itself was so gentle that my kids could be around it without any health reaction to it (in contrast fiberglass requires a hazmat suit to be around). Additionally they did NOT use spray foam (which again has toxic chemicals in it) and instead used alternatives that were very safe. The result? Great insulation and my kids don't have any of their previous sneezing issues anymore! It amazes me how insulation can have an impact on indoor air quality.
