And if I choose to go ahead with repairs after the inspection, the $49 would go towards the repair cost. A technician arrived very quickly. After a quick inspection, he determined we needed to replace the torsion spring. I asked for a quote, and after typing into his iPad for quite a while he showed me an invoice that simply said "Springs $704". When I scrolled down, I saw he also added $49 for the visit. When I asked him why I was being charged separately for the visit, he mumbled that's the standard visit cost, and then said "oh let me check my notes", then took off the $49. I asked why replacing the spring would cost $700 when my research indicated spring replacement should cost around $250-500. He insisted $700 was the typical industry cost. I immediately called two other companies, both of them quoted me $250-450 for spring replacement. At this point, my husband came home and again asked the technician why he's giving us a quote that's double what other places charge. The technician then try to throw out some jargon about how we require some special spring at a special size. We told him we will not be continuing with the replacement and paid $49 for the visit. As the technician was leaving, he kept going on about how he will send me the quote with details on the springs to show us how it's special. Yeah, I never received anything from him. We went with another company, who came out an hour later and replaced the springs for $450. Always do your own research on how much things should cost!

Over the years, I've had other handymen pass on the project. I had a handyman who was able to fill the rotted areas with wood filler, sand it, and restain it. I've even had a gate company tell me that they could not save the gate; it would need to be completely replaced. Bill was able to cut out the rotted pieces of wood, replace them, and restain the whole gate (he also repainted the decorative hardware on the door as well). Moreover, he discussed the project with a buddy of his and they determined that the gate was sitting over a muddy part of landscaping which is probably what facilitated the deterioration of the wood. We found some leftover pavers in our storage shed and Bill extended the pavers so the gate would sit over pavers instead of mud. Before he embarked on the wood gate repair, Bill also installed a valance/shade over a window. He made the necessary calculations to ensure that the valance/shade would be centered on the wall and window. He also made sure that the valence was leveled. Bill is honest, meticulous and detail-oriented. If you want someone to treat your project and your home, like it's his own, I would give Bill a call.

I needed to replace a wooden double car garage door and opener, and did a lot of research before having a number of vendors come to my home. I read reviews on the best companies, and narrowed it down to 2 vendors. First, I contacted Pro Tech Garage Door Service, and spoke to the owner Sam. He was extremely polite and professional, and answered all of my questions. He came out with his helper Mario to inspect, and give me an estimate for replacement of the door and opener. I was pleasantly surprised that Sam stated that they could repair my existing door, if I wanted. The existing door and springs were 38 years old, and had some issues, but it could save me some money. I REALLY appreciated that he offered that as an option, and I bet other companies wouldn't have offered! I was so impressed with everything we discussed that I never even called the second vendor to come out to my house. I did decide to replace my door (and opener), and what a fantastic upgrade to the house! The door color was a perfect color match for our HOA, and the opener is near silent! It was so nice to deal with the owner Sam directly, and reassuring that it would be done right the first time. Sam and Mario work like a fine-tuned machine from start to finish, leaving the garage cleaner than when they started. Sam takes the time to go through all of the features, and was even kind enough to help us program our 2 cars! If you need your garage door replaced or repaired, do yourself a favor and call Sam. WHAT AN AMAZING HIGHLY RECOMMENDED COMPANY . ! Onboard Camp Pendleton ; I had a mechanical problem with my garage and ended up reversing into the top of the garage after it failed to fully open . I called our 24hr maintenance, only to wait 2hrs and be told he can't fix it . So I decided to google a 24/7 repair company before dealing with housing and im SO GLAD I DID. I immediately found PRO TECH and called, hoping someone would answer (24/7 isn't always 24/7) . I called 8 companies. Half of them were to the point and gave me a direct quote. Half of them tried to swindle and were not clear on what the final cost will be. I called Sam at 7 on a in the evening on a Saturday. He was ready to come the same night. We set up a time for Sunday. He came and the first thing my husband said when he met Sam was that he is a really nice guy, genuine. That was my exact take too. He was professional and so knowledgeable. He suggested the only upgrades that would extend life of the door and needed to be replaced. No gimmicks no sugar coating the cost. In the end we did the original spring change that needed to be done. Installed new rollers and one extra part that would've needed change in a year or so. All that ended up being a little more that what other companies were charging for spring changing alone. The door feels a lot smoother and less noisy for sure. I'll highly recommend him and his company to all my friends, no doubt about it! read more

One word.. .. Amazing!! Searched for someone to replace my garage door motor and was blessed to find Sam from ProTech. After arriving on scheduled time, I discussed what a previous company told me about replacing the motor( a $650 charge ) and was told by Sam that the company were scam artists. He told me he was familiar with the company and they were actually on a Arizona news channel caught scamming clients. To make this short, he had a replacement panel for my opener, which really didn't need replacing but just looked cleaner and newer and replaced at no charge. All that was needed to fix problem was lubricating screw drive. After doing that and more ( lubricating parts and restapling wires ) the charge was $99. Simply amazing!!! I'm getting married next week and I have so much on my mind. I got in my card to leave and when I pushed the button on the remote my garage door would only go up a couple of inches. All around fantastic - you can't go wrong by calling Sam at Pro Tech Garage Door Service! I was having issues with my garage door not opening properly and based on reviews called up Sam. He was able to come by around my busy schedule and educated me on what was wrong and what it would take to fix it. He welcomed me to get other quotes, no pressure at all which I feel is a sign of an honest person. Unprofessional experience. Tech said it was his first time…read moreinstalling this type of motor- left me with zero confidence. Changed rates the day of -saying the motor price increased. Refused to deduct the initial $85 show up fee as they said they would. Was $200 less elsewhere AND a better motor and experience. To no fault of theirs when they came out in December my garage door was momentarily working so they greased it up and stated they still need to charge me $85 for the appointment. They stated they would reimburse that if I purchased the new motor through them. I reached out for them to purchase the motor. They responded quickly and said they would be here tomorrow. The next day when they came, they had no notes as they said they previously did and were not prepared to install. I did confirm the rate was the same as it was in December. The next day they show up, increase the rate and refuse to deduct the initial fee for showing up. As if that were not enough, they were very unprofessional. While on speakerphone I heard them complaining about another customer as well as giving the current technician a hard time about telling me how much the motor cost. It was very uncomfortable. After trying to calm the Owner down and repeating myself four times that I'm only asking them to do what they originally agreed upon he suggested that I go somewhere else. I agreed. He then repeated my name multiple times telling me to be careful because other people with charge more and swindling the rates with me saying it was a good deal. I said this is unprofessional and walked inside. They kept calling and stayed onsite a bit knocking on my door. They also stated I needed a more expensive Genie replacement. Turns out I did not. The LiftMaster is what another vendor is using and is overall a better motor and $200 less than what they were charging. Update: They did apologize afterwards and refunded the initial charge. Then called asking why I put this review up. Because it was my experience and wasted time. I had to hang up- then received another text- again very unprofessional.

I had a problem with my garage door opener last week and saw a card pinned to the wall from…read moreprevious owners. The ink was worn out but I tried a number and got through to Thomas. He was very friendly from the start. He asked me for some additional information and to send some picture and videos which helped him out. He then gave me some available appointments, I picked one, and he gave me a 2 hour time window to arrive. He texted when he was on his way and it he arrived right in the middle of that window. Then right on queue, while demonstration the problem, the door problem got worse and then would not even go up. Thomas asked me several questions to help determine which was the best option, from several options that he presented. I found that to be very helpful and I appreciate that. He gave me some price estimates, told me how it would take, and he waved the $30 service call. He did a lot of work for me and finished before the time range that he quoted. He fixed the door motor issue, put in a new wall button, new keypad, new wheels, and lubricated and adjusted the door. He was also nice and helped me repair a broken ladder with some parts that he had on him. The whole experience was great, from soup to nuts. Thomas was funny, reliable, efficient, trustworthy, and went above and beyond. I highly recommend his company to anyone.

Every time I contacted them I received an immediate service response. Plus, their prices have always been fair. My favorite part is that each time I called them they would take the time to ask enough questions to make sure they fully understood what I needed. And, they took the time to explain to me exactly why they were asking these questions. I like that! This also gave them the ability to make sure they brought along the necessary parts for repair.
