I can't over-emphasize how amazing ProVantage is. We had Steve inspect the home we made an offer on, and he was incredibly knowledgeable, comprehensive, and detail-oriented. This was nothing like our last inspection which was over in a flash and had a 2-3 page report. He was not helpful in assessing the true current condition of a home but inflated his report with fairly obvious maintenance recommendations (clean dryer vents,check downspouts, budget for new items). I found his report picayune and that he exaggerated areas needing attention such as bathtub caulk. He tended to highlight areas needing attention in yellow which misrepresent the actual conditions. Examples: Recommending a mesh grill for an (unobstructed) dryer vent. This is NOT an area needing attention/ repair. "Garage doors need to be painted to prevent rot:" They are meticulously maintained and have no sign of rot. This is NOT an area needing attention/ repair. HVAC service: The units are maintained twice a year. The next service is due this spring. It is wrong to include a regularly maintained feature as an area needing attention/ repair. This is a reasonable homeowner recommendation. The units are fully functional. Dehumidifier: A dehumidifier is run regularly and was in fact present, plugged in and fully operational. This is again a helpful homeowner recommendation, not equivalent to an area needing attention/ repair. It should NOT have been highlighted. Meticulous, yes. Perspective? No. Busy, anxious and uninformed home buyers and sellers will not be well served. Save the highlighting for the broken sump pump. read more

Jeremy recently did a home inspection for us and we couldn't be more pleased. He went over the house with a fine toothed comb and pointed out things that we wouldn't have noticed. There was about a door of snow on the ground and that did not stop him from doing a thorough inspection of the outside of the house. We had the report within 24 hours. He was extremely friendly, professional and thorough. Buying a home is probably the biggest single investment you will ever make, and I was pretty nervous about our impending purchase.
