I've been taking my vehicles to the dealership for so many years that I had forgotten how much a good independent auto shop has to offer. My experience was excellent from start to finish. They were able to get me in quickly when I needed an appointment, and I really appreciated that they worked on my car instead of letting it sit while juggling multiple vehicles. The repairs were completed with great attention to detail and quality. Since my car had been parked and neglected for a while, I also appreciated the thorough inspection they performed. They identified a few items that needed attention, which gave me confidence that the car was safe and ready to get back on the road. The work wasn't inexpensive, but quality workmanship rarely is. I'd much rather pay for repairs that are done right the first time. Shop seems to pick and choose what they want to do, and seems to not want to do any simple services. I've been turned away three times already. Having been a service manager myself for 2 independent shops and a dealer, I understand what might be justifications to decline a service. None of my visits were out of the ordinary. I understand time is money, but turning away customers is just not right. The most recent visit, was to have a TPMS sensor swapped from one wheel to another (brand new wheel and sensor). I had visited the ship the previous day, and was told it could be done. I even made the effort to take the wheels off the car, so not to take up a lift. Not to mention I scheduled time out of my day , only to be T old work won't be done bc rubber seals on the stem can get damaged. I did inform that the sensor is new, but no luck. TPMS sensors can be removed and reinstalled with no problem, especially when new. I'm just guessing the job wasn't worth their time. But wasting my time was apparently ok. Was quoted $1,100 for a windshield wiper motor replacement. Competitors in the area were around $300. It was the 5th or 6th time taking my car there. They are usually really good. The new heavy set guy that works the front desk has really price gauged me the last two times. The gentleman with the ear piercings was always much more reasonable. I will no longer be going to this location and they will lose my business to another local mechanic. Hope they train this new guy a little better. Very dishonest. read more

I was quoted $1,600 for a full rear brake job, including the brake cylinders. That price immediately felt way too high, so I asked for an itemized breakdown. I was told they don't like to print or email estimates and prefer to review it in person or on the phone -- which was strange to me, and now I see why. My friend, who is a service advisor and works at a shop that uses the same exact labor rate system with the same hourly cost, stepped in and called the shop on my behalf to question the charges. After that conversation, the quote suddenly dropped to $1,000 -- a $600 decrease. But when I asked about the price, I was told that $1,600 was standard and correct. To be clear, I don't believe this was an honest mistake. Any experienced service advisor, especially one that has made a career of this, would immediately recognize that $1,600 for a basic rear brake and cylinder job is drastically off. This truly felt like more than just a miscalculation. It felt like a clear attempt to take advantage of a customer who may not have known better. I ultimately had the full rear brake job and cylinders completed elsewhere -- with shop-supplied parts -- for $530. That's nearly one-third of the original quote, over $1k less spent on the same job. The discrepancy was from overlapping labor -- meaning they were billing separately for two services (brakes and cylinders) that are done together at the same time. Although I was told the service advisor didn't understand the overlapping labor/the mechanics had to explain this "mix up," and it was a mistake on the systems behalf which made both of the jobs labor costs mutually exclusive, any seasoned service advisor would have seen this quote as an astronomical price and immediately would have known something was not right. Bottom line: If I didn't have someone knowledgeable in my corner, I would've paid $1k more than necessary. Always get multiple quotes from different shops. Ask for the breakdown in writing. Yeah, yeah, kinda I was trying to look for like If you're not familiar with car repair pricing, bring someone who is. SMH read more

I want to start by noting that I do not write reviews for places, let alone negative ones. However, I believe it would be negligent to not inform other customers or potential customers of my poor experience at Autostream in Clarksburg. I wanted to try out a new mechanic nearby and was looking forward to this place. This was my first time getting service and it will certainly be my last. For context on all of this, my car is only 1.5 years old. Therefore, maintenance issues are limited at this time. I had an 8am appointment this morning for a routine oil change. I arrived promptly at 8am and was told that it would be 1.5 hour wait. The process ended up taking over 2 hours. However, this is not the reason for my negative review and complaint. Upon returning to retrieve my vehicle, I was given a list of "recommendations" for review. I would like to outline each as I find that they are not only unnecessary but downright deceptive: "BG Engine Plus Service - Recommended Engine cleaning service" $136.87 - This was supposedly because my oil was over 2000k miles overdue. This is not factual. A synthetic oil change lasts for 5k miles. My car actually had a bit less than this since the last oil change, mid 4k miles ago. Despite this, even if customers went over by a small amount, this would not result in an entire engine cleaning. "Remove and Replace Brake Light Bulb" $84.45 - This is where I am frankly most disappointed and concerned. The pictures they included did not show any brake lights lit up at all on either side. When I checked the brake lights myself multiple times, they were both functioning just fine and not at all broken. I'm not sure where they discovered this issue or why they were so quickly willing to want to charge me for this when it was not even broken to begin with. "BG Fuel/Air Induction Service" Cited as overdue by mileage. - $239.95 - The car has 27k miles on it. This service isn't recommended until AT LEAST 30k and upwards of 60k miles on it. This is not needed whatsoever at this point. They additionally recommended a wheel alignment and tire rotation even though I declined this when I dropped the car off since this service had just happened a few months ago at the dealership. Also, this is not to mention that there is a grease stain now on the interior roof on my car that I will need to get cleaned. I know that I'm not touching the ceiling of my car with oil or motor grease and it wasn't there before I dropped off the car this morning. All in all, I cannot in good faith recommend this location/business. I am concerned by their willingness mislead consumers about needs for the car that aren't even present or actually warranted. I understand "maintenance" and "precautions" but this extends far beyond those recommendations. I will be finding another mechanic with honest practices in the future. read more

I'd like to start of by saying AutoStream has top notch service with a state of the art facility. They are locally owned which is extremely important, especially during these COVID times. The gentlemen that helped me are very courteous, professional and helpful. I received pictures of my vehicle with a "health" assessment once my service was complete. They are located in a convenient and well lit location in Clarksburg(for those that need to do a night drop off). Their service may be on the expensive side however you get world class service with the repairs/services. Keep in mind, our cars are getting smarter by the year with all of the nice technology! These guys are great! We've been to them twice now. The first time, my husband was out of town and our car had a leak in the tire. They fit me in to fix the tire and drove my daughter and me home and picked us back up when the repair was done. They were real life savers. The other time we used them, our really old car had a lot of repairs that it needed. They took the time to break them all down and explain why they were necessary. I never felt like they were pressuring us to do repairs we didn't need. They fixed the car in a reasonable amount of time for a price that we felt was fair. I have gotten my tire repaired here in the past without issue. The last time I went was a horrible experience. They did not put any effort to help, were very condescending and rude and had me drive home on an almost completely flat tire. They made it VERY obvious that it was because I don't get my regular car maintenance done with them....which I explained several times was because I have maintenance contract with the dealership. The price for a new tire was almost double the price (for the same tire) at other places. It is a local business and I have always put in a good word for them, but after the attitude I received I will not be defending them or putting in good words anymore. read more

AutoStream located near the Clarksburg Harris Teeter is a clean and well maintained welcoming from the outside but my experience was sadly disappointing. I was hoping to get my car serviced for the routine maintenance service (would have given them the new tire business too) but I was told by Mike (slick back hair) "I don't think this place is for you" after asking 2 clarification questions about the service I was about to receive. He followed up with "How much does Range Rover charge you", at that point I lost all hope of giving this establishment my business. Good luck to owners here retaining and attracting new business. I bought my Toyota Corolla certified, pre-owned from the dealership just two years ago. I took my car here just a few days ago to get the brakes checked out before the snow storm. AutoStream Car Care gave me a laundry list of 'issues' found with my vehicle, totaling over $1,000 in repairs. One of the issues was that my transmission fluid was 'black' and needed to be changed immediately. I got this fluid changed at my last oil change, and was told it was good for 30,000 miles. Since it had only been 4,000 miles later, my boyfriend and I checked the fluid, it was a bright ruby red as it should be. Since AutoStream Car Center blatantly lied about the coloring, I immediately disregarded the rest of their recommendations. The brake issue in particular would require two new rotors and two new brake pads for the front tires. After declining the rest of the services, I was told the brake pads and rotors would cost $654 ($604 after a $50 first time customer discount). Wow, rotors for a Toyota Corolla go for about $50 each. Two of these plus brake pads over $600??? I immediately called my step dad who is a mechanic-- he advised that any place charging over around $300 for this was taking me for ride. After picking up my vehicle from AutoStream Car Center, and being charged $30 for a bunch of faulty recommendations and predatory pricing, I took my vehicle to Sears Auto Center. Just picked it up yesterday-- they charged $340 for two new rotors and two new brake pads for my Corolla. To summarize, do NOT go here. This place is a complete scam. Unfortunately my mom and stepdad advised that places like these try to take advantage of people with little knowledge about cars and their parts, especially young girls such as myself. What a truly horrible thing to do. I will find a local, trustworthy mechanic for all future inquiries. read more

I do not trust their mechanics for anything other than oil change or small tasks such as a flat repair of tire rotation etc. They might have a fast service and fancy online communication tools but their mechanics are not too attentive to their work. Once I entrusted them with my minivan. The mechanical problem was not fixed correctly the first time and as a result, my van stopped on the highway while my wife was driving to work. As a result, she had to callout and wait in her car to get towed at her own expenses and then another day to get her back. No apologies or compensations for her time lost from work or towing expenses. One more time, I trusted them with serpentine belt in another car and, yet again, they couldn't do it right the first time. It started making horrible noises the next week. At first, the manager at the shop denied that they did any mechanical work on the car, then when I showed them my reciept of the work order he admitted it and took the car in. Even then, they did not call to notify me when the car was ready. Again no apologies for their neglect this time either. read more

Brought in a vehicle for Maryland state inspection. They were quick with the service, but upon receiving my vehicle back there were scratches on it which were not there. I called the shop and spoke with the manager who agreed to see me the following day. I arrived and he proceeded to tell me that there are cameras everywhere and he forwarded all the videos to their central office and they found no one had damaged it. Which is what I expected, no business is going to willingly admit they were at fault for anything. Then he proceeded to try to explain to me that it was two impact points. I said OK perfect may I see the videos which he said he would forgive me but I know I will never see them. They also promised they would send before and after pictures which were never received before the service was done. read more

My husband decided to have his car looked at here since it was conveniently on the way home. It is located in a shopping center in Clarksburg Village and there is parking directly out front. He had to get the tires balanced. The service writer showed him their state of the art balancing machine which was cool. He was friendly and helpful with the information. It was nearing closing time, so the vehicle was left there overnight. The next day the same service writer called him in the morning to inform him that the wheel was bent. They were unable to fix this and recommended a wheel replacement. Once fixed, the service center could put the tire on the new wheel. The communication was consistent, but unfortunately they could not help at this point. We are getting a second opinion before replacing the wheel. read more

As a returning customer spending 2k, you would think they would cut you a 10% break. No...stumbled on a coupon ad and there they have them after the fact. Feel if they want you to continue your business they would offer such deals without clipping a coupon. Oh, you get charged an additional charge for shop parts....what they are? NO CLUE. This place the worst place I've ever been. I wish I can just give no star. Very rude and unprofessional. Especially, the guy name Michael who called himself as service advisor. He has no customer service what so ever. I made an "appointment" to check out my vehicle. I walked in right at my appointment time. He said that I need to wait an hour and half before bring the vehicle in?? What is the point make an appointment??? I have to wait one hour and half for them to just look at my car? Front desk guy(I can't even say he is advisor) Micheal (Mr. COURTESY)said that there are no open bays to pull my vehicle in at the moment. But there is open bay right in front of waiting area. Haha. He cut my waiting time hour and half to 45 mins, because I was complaining about waiting time although I made an appointment. And they are pulling in to the open bay that was available since I walked in. Wow. Really? Unbelievable. Why just have one of the technician to check out the vehicle while we were arguing back n forth. Please be aware of how professional they are and how courtesy to customers. He was literally yelling at my face why they can't check vehicle in now instead of apologizing that they can not keep the appointment time right. He just do not getting my point. Guys! I really thought that I found an honest, reliable mechanic. I didn't mind paying a little more for a shop close to my home. I took my car there twice before today and had a good experience. I even recommended them to a couple of friends and family. I recently started to experience a rattling noise coming from me my car. I dropped the car of and was called and told that the repairs would be close to $3,000.00. I approved the repair because I'm not in a position to purchase another car. Picked up the car and still head the rattle. I call and was told to take the car back. The Manager did a test drive with me so he could hear the noise. He heard it said he would have the service techs see what was going on. Cool. I called later in the day and was told the tech couldn't replicate the sound and they don't know what's wrong with it. I was offered a $200 refund. Im beyond upset and very dis satisfied! I'm going going to check with my attorney and see what I can do legally. BE VERY CAUTIOUS IF TAKING YOUR CAR FOR SERVICE HERE!!!!!!!! I will NEVER go there!! *UPDATE* 7/5/2018 The day after leaving my review of dissatisfaction on YELP, I received a call from David who oversees AutoStream's Car Centers. He listened to the issues that I had with my service and offered to come to my home to get my car and take it to get the issue diagnosed at another AutoStream Center. Although somewhat reluctant, I agreed. David came to get my car and brought me a loaner vehicle. He stayed in constant communication to update me on the status of my car, what was found and what they needed to do to fix the issue at no additional charge. I can now say that AutoStream went over and beyond to make me happy and I'm very appreciative for that. Customer Service is A1 and I hope to continue to use AutoStream for my car service needs. Went into this shop for the first time this past week to service my truck. The guys diagnosed the issues pretty quickly, and we're calling by me with the information and thoughts on recommended remedies, and pricing. When I stoped by to check the status, Mike brought me back into the shop to show, and explain what thy were doing in person. Then, Something happened while working on the vehicle that was out of their control, yet Mike called and was 110% honest and apologetic. They went above and beyond what I'd expect from other shops in order to fully take care of the new problems in a very professional and caring manor. I told my wife how ipresssd I was with them and she brought her vehicle in the next day to repair two tires. They were not able to repair since they had a nail in the side wall area. They ordered and swapped the two tires within the day and offered a loaner car for the hours they had in there. I had the same offer too. Overall very pleased with Mike, and all the guys in the shop! *DISCLAIMER* I am writing this review, per the manager's persistent request for me to write a review in the store before I left the first time...when things were okay.. I should have as took it as a sign to stay away, far away, when I had issues with the Online Booking. I found them on Groupon for a MD State Inspection for $39. I thought that was amazing and immediately went on their website Saturday night and saw open appointments for Monday. I scheduled an 8:00am slot. When Monday arrived, I decided to call and confirm my appointment since I never received one. They open at 7:30 so I called around 7:50 before I headed to car. The person on the phone was friendly at first and told me to come on, until I told him I scheduled the appointment online. Then he says they are completely booked and rescheduled me for Friday at 10:00 am. Friday comes and I am the only customer waiting. About 30 minutes in, someone came to drop off thier car. Not busy at all. However, someone was calling on the phone and wanted to schedule an appointment for a MD state inspection as well. The person called 3 times within 5 minutes. The last phone call, Michael, the manager, got aggravated and told him it was 3 people waiting in front of him and he could not keep answering the phone. Again, I was the ONLY one in the waiting area. There was a second person, a tech, who could have waited until he was done assisting the customer, no matter how many questions he had. My inspection was completely fairly quickly. I just bought the car from a big repututable dealership in this area, but this particular dealship is in VA, which meant I needed a MD state inspection because I purchased the car used. The car passed VA's inspection but failed MD due to tires. Btw, it's a 2014 Infiniti Qx60 that still had it's orginal tires with 48,000. Given that, I did not think I needed to spend $1000 on a car I just bought less than a week ago and drove, AWD in the snow a few days ago. I asked the text what was my tread depth, I was told 1/32...which equates to ball tires with NO tread left. I was a little shaken up that I bought a car like that, so I called the dealer requesting new tires and also the VA inspection report. Everything turned out fine on the dealerships end...So I left Autostream and went to a tire shop to price tires and to also get another opinion on my tire tread. I was told all 4 were around 3/32 or 4/32. Not 1/32 as I was told by Autostream! I went back there asking the tech to actually show me where it says 1/32. He didn't even have a tool but wanted me to take his word..I may be a woman, but I know cars...he then tries to tell me that my wear bar is bad. True, however not completely gone. To sum this up, Ron, the tech, failed my car because of tires, original tires that last more than 50,000, due to his own opinion and not the miminum standards of the state police. I was also told my Michael that I can only get it done there since that's where I originally took it. Ron also told me I could have a refund but Michael contradicted this saying his has no authroty since he's just a tech. Lastly, since I was unhappy with the verdict, Michael told me he would call the state police. I never heard back from him and called, for him to tell me "the state trooper agrees with Autostreams discretion and that Ron originally told me I could have a refund because he felt intimidated"....Intimidated, by a woman...I did not yell or anything. Just wanted clarity. Maybe he was intimidated that I did not take their word and went for a second opinion. Once I left, I drove to the MD state police barracks and was informed I can get it done anywhere as long as I was willing to pay additial fees. I took my car to yet another tire place for their opinion, same thing. 4/32. I was able to get the car reinspected at another authorized location. However alot of time and money was lost dealing with Autostream. BEWARE, they do not know the difference between recommendations and mininum standards! read more

I was told they could not change it without removing several parts of my car which would cost me a lot in labor, fortunately for me that light has been replaced before and it took 2 minutes, and my car didn't need to be taken a part. On Friday 17 Jan, I ran over a huge nail on Snowden Parkway, I managed to make it home and realized that the tire wasn't leaking air, however you could see the huge nail sticking out. I called AutoStream and asked if they could repair it, they said sure, I mentioned that I had a TESLA and asked would that be a problem? Mike said he wasn't sure but if I brought it down to the shop they would look at it and see if it was of a certain specification, and if it wasn't they could take care it. I made it to the shop, Mike came out after a quick inspection, he said he could fix it, however if I had a warranty it would be best to take it to whomever I purchased the tire from and they should replace the tire. But he would be able to replace the tire there if I didn't want to pursue the other option. I felt he was honest and was very forthcoming with the information. He looked up the tire, and gave me a fair price after comparing it to what I had originally paid. Long story short, Mike told me that he could have it ready for me by 4:30, and he had a staff member drop me off at my house. I received a call at 4:45 saying they had completed the work and I could pick my car up. The customer service was outstanding and the staff was very friendly and professional.
