We moved into a new (old) home a few months ago and hired ProFix to do an inspection and sweep. We suspected the fireplace might not be in tip-top shape so wanted to get it checked out before using it. ProFix was very responsive when I was inquiring about their services, they offered a competitive quote, and scheduling was very straightforward. They came out today, did the inspection, and as suspected there were a bunch of issues that made the fireplace unusable - including cracks in the fireplace, not-fire safe paint, a missing cap, flue, and a hole in the base of the fireplace that shouldn't have been there. They explained everything to us in detail, gave us a quote and got started on the work right away. Afterwards, gave us a really great walkthrough of the work and explained how to best use the fireplace moving forward. They were also respectful of our home and cleaned up after themselves. I needed someone to help to re-attach our chimney topper because a bee removal service company had previously removed it. But they didn't put the topper back on because of a wire netting they attached there instead, which would keep bees out but would eventually let water in!!! I demanded that they create some kind of waterproofing but the guy just taped several layers of garbage bags (definitely not a long-term solution). Fast forward one year and I reached out to several companies via Yelp but I only heard back from ProFix Services and another company (whose quoted estimate was higher than ProFix). Needless to say, I decided to go with ProFix and they did not disappoint. Frank was able to come out the same day that I requested service and his coworker (whose name I did not catch) were able to remove the temporary cover and re-attach the topper at a price that was $100 cheaper than the other company that also sent me a quote. Frank also pointed out some damage on my chimney that I wasn't aware about and offered to fix it for a reasonable amount. I was feeling a little skeptical about the need to fix it but when he showed me several photos, I was convinced that the small investment was worth it for the long-haul. We never had a chimney cap. Our painter offered to install it for free. After looking for the odd sized cap, I found they weren't in stock and , not all that affordable. So I reached out to yelp for help. Various contractors got back to me quickly. I appreciate that yelp feature . I ended up picking ProFix services , as they offered a fixed cost . Some others, understandably gave a range for the cap. They came out the same week , and ended up sweeping the chimney, fix the top of the deteriorated chimney. Moved into a new home and our fireplace had been leaking during rainstorms and it was time to get it repaired.
