I'm all tan and smiling, and running from third base Birthday/Anniversary Dinner, Part 2 Country Songs Burger
    Mojo S.

I think I would've liked this place more had we not stopped for drinks and food a bit earlier. Because of that I found myself comparing what I ordered at Project Barley and what I had ordered at the precious location. I kind of found the burgers that had been talked up by my party a little lacking. My Country Songs burger ended up being mostly bbq sauce for the first few bites. That was because the smashed burgers came in at a little under weight. I think the ratio reached equilibrium by the last few bites but I wish they had gotten that problem a little ironed out. The service was okay as the server behind the counter seemed cordial, but the whole time it was a very infrequent occurrence to see them come out to the floor. The ambiance was off too. It was loud with the live musical and people talking loudly to get over the noise and lack of space. All in all, good burger or not, this just doesn't seem like my kind of food joint.

$5 burger on Monday. Normally $9. Flavorful and juicy. Would definitely get it if around!

Got a quick bite. Saw the sign that said Happy hour $5 burger on Monday and tried it. The burger is juicy and smashed. They have trivia on Monday night, but we didn't stay long enough to play. It seems like a cool dive bar and where the local hang out.

Project barley is a great vibe and to be honest in my opinion probably the most slept on dive bar in Los Angeles. Great spot and you have a view right by the water and marina at Redondo Beach that you can't get anywhere else. As far as the food, they say they are the best Smashburger in the Southbay, and in my opinion, that they do! The tacos were pretty good. The carnitas has the most flavor of all the taco options. It's easy to go right in and get your food quick right at the counter, they make the food, buzz your number , give you everything you want and have a tap full of drinks ready for you as well. Nice games. Great vibes. Great great spot. Cool themed nights.

Tots. $5 for 10 of them. Highway robbery.

Very chill and laid back vibe. Good spot to hit for a quick bite and a drink. Whether you're hanging out at the pier or on a lunch break. The setup is a little janky. You line up to order with the bartender, pay, take the pager, find a table, wipe it down because no one working here does, now wait for the pager to buzz, stand up, collect your food from the other side of the bar, and sit down and enjoy your food. Service is hit or miss; nothing special. Tables are always dirty, sticky, and wobbly. Of course they have a tip prompt screen when you order.l, aside from handing me my drink, what else does the bartender do that merits a tip? Serious question.

Music was great on the date I visited. There were no cover charges. This is a family oriented establishment catering to a unique clientele. Families with kids, and those that enjoy a carefree afternoon at the beach with entertainment. Their menu offers a variety of selections. Their signature smash burger and Hotdogs with seasoned fries are popular with their patrons. They do offer food combo specials and beverage deals. I ordered the double smash burger, and hotdog with seasoned fries. Neither were greasy and both had a great flavor. The staff were friendly, and the atmosphere was happy and lively. The management of Project Barley is preparing for their 5 year anniversary. It's a small venue with a view of the docks and ocean. I recommend Project Barley for those that want to get out for an afternoon or evening to enjoy good food and entertainment with friends. I give Project Barley 3.5 stars due to a lack of eye appeal. The bench seating is torn or partially repaired with duct tape, and no restroom. There are restrooms a few shops down. All orders must be placed at the pos at counter. This is a beach pier ambiance with sights, and smells of the various venues along the dock of Redondo Beach pier.

Went here for the first time and was not disappointed! The service was friendly and fast! They have a lot of beers on draft and the bartender was very helpful with helping me decide, as well as offering samples. It overlooks the marina and the sunset was beautiful. A good place to unwind.

Came here for the smash burger but also to check out the live music scene here too since I happen to be at the pier. The burger was ok but the fact that there is regularly scheduled live music here from local bands is really cool. Each of the three Project Barley locations are unique with each their own dynamic and vibe. Definitely worth dropping by if you're visiting the area or if you are a local. Check out their IG for updates on who's performing!

When you can't choose between beer cheese or Bavarian muster

Great place to hear music, enjoy a beer or wine and some good food. We had dinner previously so we did not eat a meal but we did end up ordering a pretzel with both the beer cheese sauce and the Bavarian mustard. I much prefer the Bavarian mustard. They seem to have some other great meals that I might want to come back to including the burger and breakfast. I had an amber ale that was really good. Sorry that I can't tell you what it was called but the sign was small and the suggestion came from one of the bartenders when I asked if they had a red or amber ale. The music was good and we enjoyed a nice cool night by the docks.

Boyyy did we finally find our spot!! Reminds me of those awesome family-owned neighborhood bars back in Champaign-Urbana (yes, Illinos but we're Angelenos)...the kind you don't really plan for, but end up talking about later. We've been here twice now and honestly? We love it! First time, there was live music, open mic night. Just people showing up, putting their heart out there. No pretentious vibe, just good energy. Second time, there was line dancing. And if you bought one of the drinks you got a raffle ticket for free classes. Completely different night, same welcoming feel. How cool is that?!! The thing about this place is that it shifts, but sort of still feels like home. The first night it was raining, and they let us bring in our 3-month-old poodle, Kopi, without hesitation. Not only that! they offered him a blanket!!! A blanket!!! For our dog!!! Yeah...that told me everything. They kept checking in on us, making sure we were taken care of, recommending drinks like we were regulars. And there were clearly many regulars there. Drinks were solid...good cider, good beer, good mixed drinks. And the food? Omg! The food!!! Honestly fucking underrated (can I curse?). Way better than you'd expect from a bar, though to be fair some of the best food I've had has been from a bar's kitchen.. You know.... the kind of food where you take a bite...and your eyebrow rises just a tad...you pause and are like....okay wait, this is really freaking good! Nothing about this place is trying too hard and that's exactly why it works. It's just people, music, drinks, awesome food....and a space that feels lived in. We'll definitely be back.

Of course, I kid, beer can be a wonderful thing, I just rather do cocktails and shots. So I went to Sugar Monkey Brewing because of a different pull: a power point slide show where friends pitch their single friends to strangers for a chance at love or romp. So I went in not knowing much of Sugar Monkey Brewing and I left with clear understanding that this place is an industrial beer oasis near the beach. The contrast of sand and blue on the horizon and the present aluminum lining made me feel like I was seeing a new uncommon mixture that proved that clashing environments can gel to delight. I found parking easily. It was a Saturday early evening, and about a 5 minute walk was where I discovered my spot. I honestly hated that I had to walk those 5 minutes but the walk uplifted my spirits for the weather was California crisp and the air and sky and atmosphere felt safe and proper. I wondered if i had the right place? The streets looked like too industrial. Like I had gone to one of those places that had a lot of factories in rows, but not much else. But I turned a corner and there was Sugar Monkey. Then I realized that a brewery would probably look like a beer factory so this place, with all its steel and pumps, had found its home amongst beach skies. As I walked back to my car, later that evening, I was in slight awe at the pale light blue and orange sky. It was serene, and vast and somehow beach appropriate. The water tower iin a picture I took was a nice touch as it reminded me of the Animaniacs, especially Wakko and Dot. I arrived after the first presentation was on its way. I started to listen intently to understand the dynamics because this all seemed so weird yet plausible. Like a dating auction turned fun not hokey or corny? The person was hyping up her friend J. Apparently, he spoke many languages, and hiked and did all these other stuff that were meant to induce attractions. Then she asked, What can he do? And she then explained how she was going to make a joke and that no one needed to fear going to hell if they laughed. And she then reveal that the thing he can't do is SEE because he was blind. The joke was in good taste. The joke, at least to me, carried disability pride. She had revealed that he was different because his sight was different to a crowd of would be judges and suitors. The strength of the duo was refreshing, dare I say, more than the beach breeze. Being witness to this moment made me feel like I had seen a beautiful moment and one I never imagine I would see. And for this reason alone, my trip to Sugar Monkey was more than fun, it was heart-opening. The place itself is cool. Their outside was a huge garden like setting. The place had pool, however, the patio is crowded so I am not sure how people can play if too many people are there. Another thing I saw- that is a credit to this place- is that it had a wheelchair elevator. So if someone was chilling in the patio and wanted to chill in their wooded floor area- where the bar was they could use the wheelchair lift, if they could not use their legs. The place had also had kind of like an off-beat personality. It had a British phone, an astronaut that seemed to have hit a space that painted him with grafitti flare, and beers with names like green means go. I think I would go to this place again, for the beer and the air and to Karaoke. I loved this place and the activity it hosted!

It's the kind of place where you can bring your kids, meet friends, or simply unwind after work. The background music is usually classic rock played at a reasonable volume, so you can actually hold a conversation. Large TVs above the bar typically have sports on, adding to the laid-back vibe. The service is another reason I keep coming back. Both bartenders are absolute class acts--friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the beer they serve. Whether you're a craft beer veteran or someone trying something new, they make you feel welcome and are always happy to offer recommendations. The food deserves recognition as well. I've tried a variety of menu items over multiple visits and haven't been disappointed. In fact, I'm genuinely surprised when I see complaints about the food on Yelp. It's good bar food done right, not a gourmet restaurant pretending to be something it's not. Needless to say, I'll be back. Actually, I already have been--many times. If you're looking for great beer, great people, a comfortable atmosphere, and solid food in Redondo Beach, this place is well worth a visit.

The upstairs features inside and patio dining, but up a flight of steps. We started with the very tasty Mediterranean Artichokes which came on a mixture of garbanzo beans, basil, olives, tomatoes, onions & capers. Not what I expected but still really good. I'd have it again in the future for its rich taste and excellent presentation. My main course was the Tuna Melt. While not anything special I was just right for only a medium appetite. My guest ordered the Ribeye Mushroom and loved. He said he wants to come back and order it again for its preparation, seasoning and great taste. I always recommend this restaurant and try to return whenever I'm in the area.

They even have a little yellow slide play structure for the tiny ones outside. Food is the American staples like pizza, taco and burgers and their burgers are pretty good. Great place to hangout with friends or family. They also have a parking lot in back.

We'd been to R&B last year and enjoyed it so much we agreed to meet there again. The parking lots was packed but surprisingly, the restaurant wasn't very crowded and we didn't have to wait at all. After skimming over the menu, I decided to try the chicken pot pie. Our server said it was a fairly new item and it was delicious. I took her at her word and was extremely happy with my selection. The crust was very unique in that it looked more like a fruit pie rather than a pot pie. I'm pleased to report the crust was delightfully flaky and buttery. It enveloped a generous portion of shredded rather than diced chicken and the blend of fillings hit the spot. My wife had the tuna nachos which were also wonderful but a bit lacking in portion size. Not being in the mood for alcohol, I ordered one of their "dirty" sodas which tasted very much like an orange 50/50 ice cream bar. The server was very sweet and extremely helpful. If the restaurant was a little closer to home, we'd probably frequent it more often but it definitely is a great choice if you happen to be in the south Torrance/Redondo Beach area. Looking forward to my next visit.
