This was my first time climbing and let me just state that I am scared of heights! But it was such a fun exciting and thrilling experience for me! When you walk in it's pretty awesome to see the different types of climbing which is on the left and to the right there is bouldering which is a little bit more challenging, there is no harness but you fall on a soft mat which is fine and also happened to me LOL. Couple of things you need to do when you walk in is sign a waiver and if it's your first time, there is an instructor that will give you an orientation as far as the different types of rock climbing safety measures. Once he is done you will sign another form stating that you understand everything from the orientation. You will then get rock climbing shoes a harness and a little bag with chalk in case your hands get sweaty while you're climbing. It's good to go some with someone that can belay you. The instructors that work there are only there to make sure everyone is safe on the floor. But I climbed up to 25 feet on the beginners wall path. I also tried bouldering and that was fun too! I'm always open to try new things and if you are someone who likes the same and has never gone indoor rock climbing I strongly suggested I cannot wait to go back. I also learned that every three weeks more or less they change the obstacles for the rock climbing. There are still beginners to a more advanced range but they always change it! read more

I'm having my son's birthday party there next weekend, so I stopped by today to check out the facility and party room. I was greeted by super friendly staff and was immediately blown away by the size of the walls. One of the owners, Jeffrey, gave me a tour of the whole place. He was incredibly patient, knowledgeable and friendly- saying hi to just about everyone we passed (and he knew many by name). If this is just a taste how he runs his business, then I see great things happening for Project Rock! If Yelp allowed half-star reviews, I'd give Project Rock 4.5 stars, but I had to round down to 4 stars because of 3 reasons: 1. There are no auto-belays for solo climbing 2. Unlike other rock climbing gyms, Project Rock has no cardio, weight training, or dedicated climbing training equipment 3. There are bathrooms, but no showers With those things said though, I still highly recommend this gym for those who live in the Miami area. The facility is very clean and there are many varieties of walls. One feature that I've never seen at any other climbing gym was a stalagmite/stalactite combination, where you climb up the stalagmite, stand up, and continue up the stalactite. Very cool design, and the very slight shaking of the stalactite adds to the intensity of the climb! I also really liked the walls that were focused on "naturals" rather than actual holds screwed into the wall. It definitely provided a nice challenge because it wasn't as straightforward where hands and feet should be placed. Also, many of the routes here are 60 feet tall, which are some of the tallest indoor rock climbing walls in the nation- a great test of stamina for those who are used to shorter walls! read more

My friend and I loved this place. It was our first time rock climbing and we had a great experience. Zach was super thorough and patient during the belay class. I wish we lived closer to this place. Had such a blast rock climbing here. Project Rock is as legit as it gets when it comes to indoor rock climbing. They offer certifications for belaying as they don't have automatic ones like most rock climbing walls you see at events and fairs. This is more of the type of place you come to practice rock climbing as it would be in a real setting. The walls are set up to look like real mountain terrain from all over the country. Our daughter introduced us to bouldering while on spring break. We were very impressed! Very nicely built location, offering a variety of activities for beginners and experts alike. It was a fun activity to do together. We are super lucky that we can experience these awesome walls in a safe, clean, fun atmosphere. Had a blast! Can't wait to return. Would love to host an event here. Pieces are a bit high, but it's an all day pass and they do give a student discount. Fun climbing gym. Cute concept. Friendly, safety-first staff. They give discounts to people who serve the community, i.e. military, firefighters, police, emts, paramedics and teachers (nice!). However, nurses are excluded from this group (). [Disclaimer: I'm a nurse]. Grading system might be a little lenient in my non-professional opinion, but being able to climb a 5.11 on occasion is a nice ego boost. Get here early if you want ample space to climb. Since last year when i wrote my initial review, my bf and i have climbed here a few more times when we've been in Florida. The grading has changed significantly, and funnily enough they actually seem to have gone in the opposite direction with it and started to grade things slightly easier than the routes actually are (imo, although it's though to tell because they don't use the abc system.) at any rate, it's definitely more accurate.. the only issue now is that it's about a thousand degrees in there and really difficult to stay on the wall once you get up to a certain point because of how sweaty you get.. also it would be great if they used static ropes so that you didn't fall 10 feet from where you were while you're working on a project. The staff was very friendly from the moment you walk in and I feel like the owner (I think he was the owner at least) is a motivational coach, because he was belaying someone and was so encouraging! And he also designed the middle two piece wall!! This is one of the best rock climbing gyms I've ever been to. They have a great variety of walls, difficulty levels, bouldering, belaying, and lead climbing, so everyone from a novice to an advanced climber can have fun. They have some walls that are made to resemble real rock (using concrete), which makes it much more challenging but also much more realistic. They even have cracks if you want to try crack climbing. The walls are huge! Like 70 feet, which is way higher than any gym I've been to. We took the belay certification course and Nicole was amazing. Made us do everything 3-4 times to make sure we did it right. I can't wait to take my friends here! read more

Absolute horrible customer service, never have I had a business refuse business especially when I offered to pay for a private class to instruct 1 person a belay class which honestly only takes a little while to teach especially when her partner amd the rest of the group are strong climber and the rules of the establishment is to do this course. I understand business esp the gym business but don't understand how a business esp now in these times would not open a time spot to service a paying customer several hours in advance. Unfortunately, as there is not really any gym competition or real rock outside anywhere nearby, ProjectRock is free to exploit south Floridians who love the sport. 1. I wanted to do something fun with the kids and found this place online. Fearful of crowds, I took the day off from work and went on a Thursday. The employees were very friendly and seemed to enjoy their jobs. The gym was not busy and we had a terrific time climbing. Even the other patrons were friendly. There were plenty of walls to choose from and we spent about 6 hours there. I liked that there was no fried food concession and that we were free to bring in our own food. This gym seeks to exploit you and does not care about you. They require you give them rights to your likeness. Although they say it is just for photo shoots and such for their own promotion, the language claims your rights without compensation or even notification. For actors, athletes, etc, that already have licensed such rights and cannot sign such language, the manager would not even discuss the topic and demanded signature and assignment of rights. Beware. The gym, itself, is small and nothing special, although it would have been fun to checkout. read more

Very disappointed. After 3 attempts at going there we finally gave up. Due the fact they are a manual belay set up that requires an hour 1/2 class prior to climbing and do not really emphasize this prior to getting there. First attempt there, they were closed. 2nd attempt, was later in the day. They were happy to take my money and charge me then explain we basically couldnt climb without the class, which was another hour plus from that point. Our 3rd attempt We were 4 minutes late for the class we had registered for and was not allowed to join. Which their solution was wait for the next class which would mean at least 3 hours until we could begin climbing. With the rates being charged I can't understand how they haven't invested in auto belay systems so families can literally show up and climb with in minutes. Great concept, poor business model, worse customer service. Will not try again. read more
