Depends on who the chef is, we stopped showing up for months because they had a chef who was heavy handed with the salt...we nicknamed the place "Project Salt Show". Went there 3 weeks ago and had a great burrito, if they keep that chef then we'll put it back on the list. The crew isn't built to handle heavy customer numbers, took 45min to get breakfast once. Always on the lookout for a good Craft brewery in the area with at least semi-decent food as you can't usually find that at any beer bar. Had the German Blonde which was good but not very cold. Room temperature is not my cup of tea. Tuna melt was unfortunately made with that brownish-grey tuna and not fluffy white albacore (recommend to management FYI).my buddy had the chicken sandwich and thought it had a Mediterranean taste to it. Rude staff but for some reason it's only the males? Came in for lunch, yes the foods pretty good and found a table. Was chilly and most of their seating is outside so we chose one under a heater. Flagged down one of the staff and asked if the heater was working. "Nope, it's broken" he stated rudely like we were interrupting and wanders off. We're watching another female staff member move things around for another party so they could be near a heater and couldn't have been more helpful. Shoulda left right then and there but again, we enjoy the food. Go to order and the guy taking our order is on his cell phone texting while we're ordering and appeared to be completely uninterested. Food came, was pretty good as usual but the lackluster staff has poisoned the well unfortunately. Not the first time we've been treated poorly by the people you're tipping and won't be back. As a PS, you're seating is outdoors and you only have 1 1/2 tables for people with dogs. Fairly lame. read more

Fun place to hang out and grab a drink with friends. We got the strawberry lemonade, pilgrim poke and donut holes. Loved the warm, fluffy donut holes. They are made with ricotta and aren't overtly sweet...5 per order, perfect for sharing. I added the chocolate dipping sauce and it was delish! Service was a bit slow but otherwise not a bad choice for a casual dinner and drinks. read more

Project Social was the perfect fast-casual place for my friend and I to grab a quick lunch with healthy options. They have an extensive beer menu which was enticing but I didn't partake this time. The lunch menu mainly consists of burgers, bowls and salads, sandwiches and flatbreads. I ordered the Shrimp Caesar Salad which was bright and refreshing. It's made with a mix of romaine and kale and the dressing is made in house. They have a nice outdoor patio with plenty of seating inside and out. read more

Met here with family friends for a dinner. I ordered the Hobie Bowl (without avovado and aioli) and Hummus side to share. My mom ordered the poke bowl. The Chicken in the Hobie bowl is a little boring, but has a nice kick and is tender and moist. The hummus was very good, normally I'm not the hugest fan of hummus but this hummus kept me coming back for more! Service is order at the counter, and they bring it to you. Waiters passed by occasionally to check if we were doing good. Food came out pretty fast. The food is a bit expensive. The atmosphere is nice, the open air is very nice with a hint of ocean breeze. They serve bad pork. My a lady and I came for Sunday brunch. I ordered vegetable burrito. She ordered regular burrito. She got sick. Vomit. Nausea. I thought she was being soft. We have been hearing so many good things about PS so I was really excited to take my family here for dinner, party of 4. Atmosphere great and that's about it. Not worth the amount of money we spent...food was flavorless, cold and the chicken sandwich tasted like it was fried in 5 day old oil. Super disappointed and will probably not recommend or eat there again. There are so many other great restaurants in our local area...so sorry for this review... read more

Project Social really offers something for everyone! I love that so many people can gather here. It's a perfect place for all ages! It's really cool to see a mix of young families with kids, 20s/30s crowd, and of course older adults! I love to stop for drink after a bike ride, meet friends and family, and go to their cool community events like the building a lego mini figure or Juneshine flavor launches! Great open bright, and relaxed atmosphere with tasty food and a variety of drinks! There's everything from burgers to the healthy Hobie bowl (my fav). I also love that they serve hard kombucha! Ambience is wonderful! The indoor/outdoor feel of the restaurant is very relaxing and the location is very convenient. The food took a lot longer than expected, after about 40 minutes and a couple of inquiries we got our a la carte 2 pancakes but they said they had problems with the batter. This place is always a 10/10! No matter what's on their menu you can't go wrong. First, their breakfast is amazing! If you wake up earlier enough grab a mimosa or two and try avocado toast or a burrito! Second, they have Pliny! I heard sometimes that have it on tap but they have it bottled and it's such a treat! Today I got an amazing Caesar salad, smothered fries(similar to animal style at in-n-out) and this savory tomato basil creamy soup! Great atmosphere! Use to come here a lot until we got a new puppy, we were excited because this is technically an outdoor establishment until we found out how limited the dog tables are. I understand we have to be secluded or up to health code speed, but to have two tables technically at bar height for a dog friendly table is ridiculous. Then you have the picnic tables pretty much as close to the street as possible that seems to be the most unsafe option for any dog. The only dog friendly table that is accommodating is located right infront of the entrance with a fireplace which is nice keep warm, BUT the majority of the time it is occupied by families or friends that don't even have a dog with them. I'm bummed to say the least, the staff is kind, the food is great, taco Tuesday is amazing, but unfortunately a place I cannot be unless I want to leave my puppy at home. read more

For the record, I do not live in Dana Point. However, we are frequent visitors to the area. And every visit includes a stop at Project Social. (We usually do take out so I don't know about their service for dine-in eating.) I have dreams about the Hobie Bowl at Project Social. Literal dreams. It has grilled chicken, rice, mixed greens, avo, bacon, cojita cheese, tomatoes, cilantro and a chipotle aioli dressing. It's one of my fave salads, no doubt. The atmosphere and beer selection is great, but the food is hit or miss. We were pretty disappointed when we went over the weekend with the chicken sandwich and Doheney burger. We love coming here! Laid back vibes with a fire pit in the back and plenty of heaters on those chilly nights. They have a great rotating tap list of beers/seltzers. Wonderful place for lunch on a weekday. The outdoor space is large with plenty of space between tables & plenty of heaters. Mask is required to order inside at the counter. The salads are humongous & delicious! I got the endless summer salad with chicken. The chicken was moist & tender with a nice mixture of greens. The white wine was cold & good. Been here a couple times and I have to disagree with some of the reviews - we love it. The service is quick and efficient. Not the place for a nice sit down and calming environment, but if you're looking for an afternoon beer and bite, it's perfect! Busy for a reason! Loved the brussels, the local beers, brewery X seltzers, juneshine hard kombucha. Burgers and Caesar salads have all been quality. Came here on a weekend afternoon. Plenty of seats even though large party in back. Service was fast. I ordered the poke bowl, it was delicious. My friend got a salad. A friend and I just enjoyed a delicious lunch at this hot spot in Dana Point/ Monarch Beach. The beer selection is impressive with ales: blondes, IPAs, DIPAs; stouts; reds; browns; sours and more. They had 3 stouts, my fave, and were nice enough to let me try the 2 I was undecided between. For lunch, we had a Sandwich and a Bowl. I believe it was a Hobey Bowl with grilled chix, rice, Spinach, tomatoes, bacon, generous avocado, with the perfect amount of sauce. The sandwich was on grilled sourdough with bacon and other good stuff. Every bite devoured. No fruit or side, just the sandwich and bowl were exceptional. They have indoor and outdoor (with heat lamps) seating; 3 individual bathrooms for any gender and shared sinks/mirrors.They have games but during lunch time it was mostly lunch going on. We had a quick brunch at Project Social Saturday morning. This is a really cool little place with a great open space / SoCal vibe. The server behind the counter was cheerful and helpful as we placed our order. The coffee was better than expected and the food was served quickly to our table. The quality of the food was "ok" nothing to write home about, but the outdoor setting, cooler morning and the heated patio area made for a delightful setting. we intend to return for an afternoon beer - perhaps on Taco Tuesdays. My wife and I thought this would be a more suitable experience after testing the place out for brunch. Will give you an update after the next trip. read more

I live 2 blocks from this place and we will drive by and go to downtown Dana Point or Laguna Beach most times. It is really sad that they have such a gold mine in concept and just can't put the effort into making it a decent environment. As you know it takes upkeep and thoughtfulness to make a business thrive and keep local return customers...this place strikes out in each category. Food..ok Service..horrible Ambiance...ok Upkeep....horrible. You wait in a long line for each beer while 1 person slowly takes your order, turns around and fills all your beers, takes your money and then wants a tip. That process takes from 3-10 minutes. Can you imagine when 10 people are in line? Ha ha...what happened to service for tips? Then you go to your sticky table that sits in an unkept patio. And please don't bring a dog, they only have a few seats for this or you sit in the filthy dirt lot next to the street. Seriously, if you don't believe all this go for yourselves. Downtown Dana Point is a much better bet for a fun evening and good food. read more

This is a great spot for breakfast lunch or dinner along with drinks just a block from the water! They have a large parking lot and plenty of easy parking. Service was wonderful, they were super friendly and helpful. I Food was brought to us actually. They also have a nice variety of drinks available as well. My husband and I really enjoyed their pizza, salads and they're delicious ricotta donut holes for dessert. They have a large outside seating area which is very nicely done and well spread out. Ideal for a night out with friends, date night or even with the kids! Worth checking out! read more

I had a work event I put on with The Surfrider Foundation. After a long day of beach clean up, my team was ready for a really good meal and a beer. The staff was fun, easy and on top of it. I asked if they had happy hour when I was there in January and they said they did not have a happy hour

Do they serve alcoholic beverages besides just beer? Wine, perhaps?

A variety of red and white wines as well as hard kombucha and a rotating cider tap. I think hard seltzer is coming soon so stay tuned!

Today, on a Saturday at 12-ish, as a family of 4 we were able to get seated right away. Our server was attentive and offered/brought waters right away. We were seated inside which was open and spacious but loud enough to make it family friendly. The tables were far enough a part that you did not feel like you were on top of each other. Next time, we might ask to sit outside so our young boys can watch the cars drive by. We learned that the kitchen is nut free (always double check as this could change), which was amazing since our son has a severe nut allergy. He was so excited to learn this as he can be limited at other places due to cross contamination or the wrong oils. Then when the food came out and it was delicious - it sealed the deal. It is now in the top of our list of places to go. The kids cheeseburger is good size and not a smaller version as some places do. The chicken tenders were panko crusted which was so crunchy. My husband and I shared the smoked carrot and chicken tacos and we enjoyed them both. The beer was also very good with my husband and I each trying a different kind - an IPA and a Pale Ale. We decided to try Bistro K as we were in the area and the reviews, pictures and the menu looked good, plus we were in the mood for a good Italian meal. We were greeted at the door by Brittany, who sat us promptly and was actually our waiter. Brittany set the tone for the evening and carried it through to the end. Simply fabulous service and personality. She made us feel not just welcome, but a part of the family. But it wasn't just the service that was so special. We decided to start with a glass of wine. I ordered the Prisoner Red while my wife ordered the Sonoma Cutrer Chardonnay. And then the first hint of the forthcoming special culinary experience came. Their Focaccia bread. This bread, with a little cheese on top was supreme. Light, flavorful and the perfect start. We remarked that we could just drink wine and eat focaccia all evening! Next we split a Ceasar salad to start. It was fresh, crisp, with shavings of parmasean and a spot on Ceasar dressing. Next came our main course. I chose the Alaskan Halibut off their specials menu, however, rather than piccata sauce, I chose Brittany's recommendation to have it Alla Checca, with fresh tomatoes and basil. My wife chose the Chicken Piccata, because piccata sauce is a true test of any Italian restaurant. The halibut was perfectly prepared and a generous filet. Maybe the best halibut dish I've ever eaten. The tomato's and basil gave a nice acidic complement to the fish and the juice from the tomato's made the fish tender, flakey and moist. Served with perfectly prepared green beans and potato's. The chicken piccata was simply excellent, with just the right amount of lemon and perfect consistency. The chicken was perfectly pounded out and cooked. Also served with green beans and potato's. At this point, we thought we'd reached the peak, when Brittany brought out a giant slice of coconut cake and two decaf cappuccinos. OMG. This coconut cake should be illegal. To say it was great is an understatement. Light, full of flavor and coconut shavings. Simply phenomenal. Tina, the pastry chef, has it nailed on this cake. If you like coconut, you must try it. A++! If we could give a 6 stars on Yelp, we would. We feel it is under rated at 4.3. We are already planning our next visit to Bistro K, and can hardly wait.
