Buyer beware of buying any electric bikes from this company because the bikes are overpriced and the owner Chris is unwilling to budge on prices for used bikes They wanted to sell me a Reise & Muller tinker touring HS electric bike that was a year and a half old with a missing derailleur and with the old battery on it for $4,500 when this bike brand new was selling for $5,000 a year and a half ago I then asked one of his workers if the owner Chris would go down on the price & to then please get back with me & then the worker didn't get back to me until a week later to let me know that Chris would not budge on the price which to me was bad customer service because the most this bike is worth is $3,500 being that it was used it had a regular chain belt & was not even the gates carbon belt with the enviola drive which is ridiculous to sell something at this price so like I said I would steer away from buying any electric bike from this shop because the owner is not compassionate enough when it comes to people that don't have a lot of money and are wanting to buy a decent bike but don't want to be overpriced so in my opinion go to a different electric bike shop and deal with an owner who's going to have some kind of compassion.

Zen and Nahim when we finally picked up our Urban Arrow!
    Jeff N.

My family bought an Urban Arrow from Propel in Sept 2019. Leading up to the purchase, we had a LOT of questions/anxiety because this was a big purchase and a big bike. Nahim, Pierre, and Zen answered literally 10,000 questions from my wife and me over the phone- with tons of back and forth as we priced and repriced the purchase based on certain add ons I was considering. We did a test ride with our kids and Zen was indeed zen with us - calmly answering questions, showing us features, and even offering to go above and beyond (eg if we wanted to take the showroom model home for a day or two to get a more realistic feel for owning the bike! we didn't do this but it was a really great offer). When we picked up the bike (another visit to our BFFs), our kids ran around the store and the mechanic in the back was calmly explaining gears to my 6 year old son. We could not be more happy with the showroom (it's incredibly nice), the friendliness of the entire staff. This is the only place in NYC that specializes in e-bikes and on top of that, they have several brands of long john (dutch style) cargo bikes that you can try out, which you basically cannot get anywhere else in NYC. So huge thank you to everyone. We just hit our 500+ mile mark on our bike and will be coming back in for a tune up and looking forward to saying hi to everyone!

Brand new R&M Homage 2022 from Propel Electric Bikes!

I received my new R&M Homage this Tuesday, unpacked it and discovered the Bosch Nyon control system didn't work. I thought "Oh great, I have a problem with the new bike and I purchased this from a shop in Queens, a thousand miles away". I called the "sales match-maker" who transferred me to the service dept. David in service listened to my description and pointed me to the area on the bike which was probably causing the problem. I waited until the next morning to deal with it and found a wire connector that had probably come undone when I removed the protective foam padding installed to protect every inch of e-bike during shipping. I pressed the two ends of the connector together and everything started working just like on the e-bike I purchased from Propel last year. What a great way to start the day. When I opened my email I found a message from Propel service manager explaining that the service department had contacted the closest Bosch service center to give me local service assistance to get my new bike up and running. I was very happy to message informing him that everything was running and good as gold. Propel has made it possible for someone who lives in a tiny country town to get the latest and greatest awesome bike and have confidence that I will not end up with an expensive headache if an issue comes up in the future. A sales department can only grow from the success of the service department. I really appreciate the experiences I've had dealing with Propel e-bikes. Dave R.

So I went to a local bike shop in the east village call BikeFix and I really lucked up. BikeFixNYC is for anyone out there like me that spent several thousand for an ebike from California that has no support/mechanics here in NYC. Surron, Super73, Onyx, Ghostcat, Revv1, PowerGoat, you name it and BikeFix got you. They honestly do not disappoint. Plus they're honest and trustworthy. I brought my PG V3 for some new rear shocks and Greg did a phenomenal job. He also removed some pegs that I had difficulty with. I won't take my bike anywhere else!

Back to shop, fixed tire and when I asked the price, they said $25, but I mentioned the wall sign says $20 fixed rate. I give the $20 and they argue with me, and someone not involved gets involved and I feel like I'm being attacked. I leave the shop again, and the back tire, just "fixed" is completely flat by the time I got home 5 blocks. I thought the shop was going to be OK, but I cannot recommend it. Plus, I have a completely flat back tire.

I was all set to purchase, but the mechanic (I believe Luis) had me get on the bike and said I needed to size down. Unfortunately, for one of his builds, I did use them to get some components that I couldn't source other places and around every corner they drop the ball. We were not notified that parts were on backorder, even though it said when I ordered that they were in stock and would ship within a few days. Another part they ordered the wrong size and along this process, they never let us know what was going on. I had to call to find out why I hadn't received something in a couple weeks and then again to figure out where his stem was. They never returned our calls, which meant I had to take extra time out of my day to call back numerous times. It is unfortunate that they are such a large distributor of Colnago bikes. There's no way I'm going to support this place again. They don't deserve my money and I'm upset about the thousands of dollars I've spent there thus far. It won't happen again.

I read numerous reviews praising this shop not only for their excellent service but also for their honorable business practices. Today, I had the pleasure of confirming that every one of those kind words were true in those reviews with the assistance of Sean. As a new rider with limited knowledge about my bike's needs, I made it clear to Sean that I didn't know bikes and told him to do whatever he thought was best. He could have taken advantage of my inexperience and charged me for unnecessary services, but instead, he walked me through exactly what my bike needed and what it didn't. He charged me a very very fair price to fix it right there on the spot. Thank you, Sean, and the team, for reminding me what great service feels like.

I've been going to this shop on and off for years and recently decided to give it another shot,…read morehoping things had improved. Unfortunately, the experience has been consistently disappointing. While a few staff members have been friendly, there's been a recurring pattern of dismissive and somewhat condescending behavior across multiple visits. Questions and concerns often felt brushed off, and explanations of services -- like what a "free tune-up" actually includes -- were vague or incomplete. There were also several instances where the work itself didn't inspire confidence. A computer mount was left spinning despite being told it was secure, and on another visit, a mechanic refused to use carbon paste on a mount, which didn't feel appropriate for the component involved. What's most concerning is that this wasn't a one-off experience -- it's been a pattern over time. When communication and attention to detail are lacking, it starts to impact both safety and trust, especially on longer rides. Update (Jan 2026): I later found out that a tubeless setup I paid for had barely any sealant in the tires, which explains why a flat wouldn't seal. Another shop had to fix it. At this point, I've decided to take my business elsewhere. I'd recommend double-checking any work before leaving.
