I recently discovered this chicken place and so glad I did! Although I've just gotten take out a couple times, each order of chicken fingers and roasted potatoes has been absolutely delicious. Each chicken fingers order contains three large pieces, celery sticks, and carrot sticks with a side of signature sauce. ($10) A large order of spiced roasted potatoes similar in shape as what's sometimes referred to as jojos elsewhere is a side option. ($4.25). And dessert options include different bar types ($4 each) that are good sweet treats occasionally. The restaurant is a smaller spot on Lakeshore Drive with probably about six tables or so with large windows facing the street which creates a cozy neighborhood feel. Each time I've ordered the staff has been welcoming and helpful. And the prices are reasonable for just about any occasion. Proposition Chicken is a tasty neighborhood discovery.

Stopped by Proposition Chicken on Lakeshore for a quick take home lunch. I just love their fried chicken salad! The chicken is nicely fried, the lettuce and veggies are fresh, and the dressing is delicious. Staff seem friendly and efficient even on a busy day. Highly recommend!

Really disappointed for a first visit time to come I returned because my fries were cold to make it home with overcooked onion rings other than that the service was okay it was pretty clean on the inside only to get home with an incomplete meal to eat for two with a fifty $ price is

Proposition Chicken absolutely delivers! The food is incredibly fresh. They offer solid vegan and gluten-free options without sacrificing flavor. It has the fun, fast-food vibe you'd expect from a quick spot, and the quality honestly feels closer to a sit-down restaurant. It's a very close second to Chick-fil-A. Prices are definitely on the higher side. The taste and quality make it worth it. I'd happily go back again.

Review for takeout - salad with kale and chicken was very tasty. Their chicken is fried well and the kale for the salads is fresh. Good value for what you get at the serving size and price point.

2nd time having Proposition Chicken, but first time visiting the location on Lakeshore Ave in Oakland for breakfast. The person taking my order (Mike L) was very friendly and welcoming and presented options for breakfast and chicken offerings that come grilled or fried. Of course, it's the fried chicken breakfast sandwich with egg, American cheese, pickles, ranch on croissant bun for me! It was light, delicious and satisfied the crave. Friend enjoyed the classic breakfast with egg, cheese and bacon on croissant bun...simple but tasty Place is clean, items made to order and ready in about 10 mins. Metered parking and next to Peet's coffee.

This place never disappoints. Everything I get food here is always fresh and hot. This was the first time I tried this entree, and it was so good. I usually get their chicken salad, and that's for 2 portions. I also tried the magic bar for the first time, but sadly it was too sweet for me. The biscuit was surprisingly good, because I normally don't like biscuits. Don't Forget to get the sauce. Better to always get extra!

My cousin did an online order from pickup. He ordered to go so we could picnic at Mountain View Cemetery. Everything was well packed except they didn't provide utensils and napkins. Which was a bummer because there's no way to have matzo ball soup without a spoon! We ordered fried chicken salad and fried chicken entree. The chicken was crispy crunchy and well seasoned. I just wish the chicken was juicy... it was a bit dry. And since we were picnicking there was no way to eat the matzo ball soup. We ended up bringing that home to eat instead. Pricy meal but glad we tried it.

I recently developed an allergy to onion and, unfortunately, onion is the only ingredient not listed to remove on the Saint Francis sandwich (on their website). I decided to call to place a pickup order so I could mention the allergy. The man who picked up the phone refused to take an order insisting that I must place my order online. I explained there wasn't the option to remove the ingredient and was worried since I had an allergy. He argued that I was mistaken, and I could edit the order online or order a "build your own sandwich" (without acknowledging the additional cost for such a thing). I mentioned the inaccessibility of such a system and that I truly wasn't seeing the option to remove ingredients. He spent longer arguing with me over the phone than it would have been to take my order over the phone. Eventually, I relented, and placed an online order stating in the "notes to seller" (the only way to edit an order in this case) no onion on the Saint Francis sandwich. There was onion on my sandwich. Maybe instead of believing they need to be right, they should just listen to the customer and try to accommodate.

I have been eating delicious sandwiches from Modigliani Café since it opened. Always so delicious,…read moreand so friendly. But I have to wax poetic for a minute: today I ate the very best pastrami I have ever had. I grew up on the East Coast (as did the proprietor) and I have easily eaten 500 reuben sandwiches in my life (because they are pretty much the very best). This pastrami is absurd. It is thin. It is tender. It is flavorful. It is meaty but not stringy or fatty. It is moist. It is a love letter. It is a sweet whisper. It is goodness through and through. Made into a reuben, this pastrami is divine. I believe the proprietor makes his own thousand island dressing and it is just right. The bread has been pressed and grilled, and is neither tough nor soggy. You taste and feel the cheese, but it does not overwhelm. In short, I am in heaven. The proprietor of Modigliani Café grew up in a family that worked with meat, and he won an award when he was quite young for curing bacon (you can see the certificate on the wall in the shop). So my suspicion is that this pastrami is his creation. And I bet that bacon was the best ever. Pay Modigliani Café a visit. Everything I've ever ordered was delicious. Bring cash because they don't take cards.

I usually order a #2, #7, and #13. It's very affordable, especially if you're on a strict budget for lunch. $7 sandwiches? I mean it's a pretty good deal. #2 Banh Mi Dac Biet/Special Combo Ham Sandwich - If you're looking for a cold italian sandwich but want to explore new options this is a vietnamese version that also has pate butter taking it to the next level. #7 Banh Mi Xiu Mai/Meat Ball & Egg Sandwich - An elevated version of the #3 with an added egg. This was my absolute favorite as a child and still is now. Nice balance of sweet and salty. The meat is tender and with the added egg yolk that pops when you take a bite takes it the next level. I think this is also slept on since I don't see many people ordering it. #13 Banh Mi Xa Xiu/BBQ Pork Sandwich - This is their secret weapon. My god the sweetness from the bbq pork with the pate butter is incredible. I always look forward to eating the bottom end of the sandwich because that's where most of the flavor and butter are hiding. The pickled veggies help give it the acidity it needs for a well balanced bite. By far my favorite. They also have many other options besides banh mi that make and sell on the day of like Banh Cuon, Che, Egg rolls, etc. Definitely give those a try especially the Mochi Ham sandwich aka Banh Day they got there too. I always have a hard time choosing between the #7 & # 13 so I always end up getting both. Service is straight forward, you line up, order, and wait for them to call you up for your order. Simple. You don't have to ask me twice if I want to grab some banh mi here. But do be aware that at certain hours of the day it can get very busy and crowded. Either to super early when opening or closer to closing about an hour before. The only thing that made the sandwich edible was the bread itself. It was fresh light and airy as I remember it to be. I hope they will focus and maintain quality in the future. I've had their Spicy Hog, steak with mushroom, a few Cubans, but the one that I always come back to is "The Balls" sandwich. First off, this sandwich is massive, so be sure that you come here on an empty stomach. These beef meatballs are seasoned to perfection and bursting with flavor. The balls are covered in their red sauce with provolone and Grana Padano, which gives it that nutty and salty flavor that pairs extremely well with the meatballs and baguette. All the juices and cheese just get soaked up to perfection. The baguette bread they use is supplied by La Farine, which is just a few meters away from each other. Just putting out there that La Farine is hands down one of the best bakeries in Oakland, so it makes sense that this sandwich would be so dang good. I'll be honest that I'm not a big fan of the chips or those chips in general and could be fine with just the sandwich. If you are going to have any sandwich to eat here first, I would highly recommend you try "The Balls" because I promise you will not be disappointed. I will always say that the dozen or so times I've been here, the staff are always so friendly, and the atmosphere is very down to earth. The price of their sandwiches is in the $20 range, but the quality and portion make it totally worth it.

Amazing Service and the best Pastrami Sandwich I've ever had. Will definitely be coming back soon!!!read more

Want a free sandwich?…read more Complete this puzzle and it's all yours! The pastrami sandwich here is sooooo good I actually ordered two of them. This is the first place in the world that had me eating rye. I hate rye bread, and was worried because there are no substitutions, but the sandwiches here were so good and the bread didn't taste like the traditional prison food hard rye bread. You changed me Krispy Joe's, and had me eating stuff I never would have. Also, drinking stuff I never would have. I bought their chai and lemonade, both were 5 stars, and they offered me their pickle juice electrolyte drink to try. I was skeptical at first, but again they made me a believer. I hate pickle juice and pickle flavored anything in general. Yet, they converted me once again when they offered me a sample of their pickle-aid. It tasted like a mild tasting plain Gatorade. If I were still training for a marathon, I would totally buy this! Back to their amazing sandwiches. They are made with such care, dusting every sandwich that's made to order with their secret spices while toasting the meat and bread. The slaw was fresh and herbaceous. Again, made with care and craftsmanship. I am rooting for this business to expand and take over Ike's Sandwiches. I believe in you Krispy Joe's, you have my vote!

This is a tiny little shop that seems to do a tremendous amount of business. Yesterday, we were in the area at 11:30, before the lunch rush officially begins. We parked practically in front at the curb and walked to the front door. Inside were about 10 customers, some waiting to pay, some watching their sandwiches being made and others waiting to order. We weren't quite exactly where to stand so we wormed our way to what we thought might be the end of the line. Probably not necessary. There were three sandwich makers and they simply called "next" when they were ready for the next guest. The first question we were asked was how many sandwiches followed by what breads. We're both fans of Dutch Crunch so that made it easy. Then we were asked what sandwich was first. With everything? What kind of cheese? Any add-ons? Then the second sandwich, same questions. The process was impressive. Our sandwich maker knew his craft and made us two wonderful sandwiches. She ordered the Fire Roasted Steak with everything. I ordered the Lucca's Ultimate Club without the Hot Pepper Sauce (mistake!). We got back to our van and the hot Steak smelled so good, we split it right then and completely devoured it! The Hot Pepper Sauce was not super spicy and the entire sandwich was huge and delicious. This morning, we split the Lucca's Ultimate. We each managed to put away about 1/2 of our 1/2 and then had to put them away. Not to worry, we finished them at dinner. I think because I had omitted the Hot Pepper Sauce, this sandwich wasn't quite as moist. I would have liked more lettuce, tomato and possibly some avocado. That's a note to myself for next time. Yes, there will be a next time. Service was great. Food was great. I wouldn't want the business to change anything. A small shop with huge demand that makes great food is worth the wait. Some might say that enlarging the business would increase speed and capacity but I say don't mess with a great thing!
