Just wow! I was in search for something healthy as I've been trying to eat cleaner. I came across Ben's Fast Food through Yelp. Ordered the chicken hearty bowl through DoorDash and it is thee bomb! I'm always on the go because of my job and this hit everything I had in mind. The box even had a personal hand written thank you from the business. That made me feel like the owner truly appreciates his customers and puts an effort into his meals. It shows. No complaints food was delish. The chicken was tasty not super dry and all the veggies were crunchy and fresh. This is for sure one of my go to places from now on. Got pulled pork mixed bowl with avocado and rosemary balsamic dressing. I was kind of expecting something like a poke bowl type concoction but with pulled pork instead over rice and salad. What I got was finely chopped steamed veggies over rice with pulled pork. I gotta say this is one of the healthiest things I've ever eaten as a take out. Or for a lack of better description, once mixed, it reminds me of human grade food for pets... something that hard core gym bros will eat. It doesn't taste bad but it's absolutely bland and not savory. I'm not so sure salt was even used in the making of this. Lacks a punch or kick to it to make it something that I'd want to eat again. Ok I'm not usually one to order like, healthy organicky bowls, but ben's fast food is legit good. Really soothing, especially if you're returning from an indulgent trip to Texas and New Orleans. The proteins are very juicy, and they don't skimp on quantity. And there are so many different vegetables, all chopped into nice even cubes. The sauces are just flavorful enough to not be boring. Just enjoyed one of Ben's salads tonight plus have another waiting tomorrow's lunch. I am a first time customer and am so pleased that I came to Yelp to give them a stellar review. Wow. Delish! I enjoyed their smoothie too. I added walnuts and avocado to one salad and chicken to another. The avocado was perfectly ripe -- firm and creamy as so often it is not. The chicken is cooked to tender and moist. I think that what makes their food especially good is the size of the cutup ingredients along with not overcooking. It is light and delicate, fluffy, really... as all are cooked to the exact right texture. It appeals to the more sophisticated palate where each bite starts with an appreciation of the different parts soon becoming a delightful hum of flavors. Light salt so no overpowering the natural flavors with the slam of salt that conceals so much in American cooking. Quite filling. I felt good for hours. As a person who inherited sensitivities to all forms of the onion family (Fodzyme sure is making a big difference, but still I limit exposure.) I so appreciate their not making any errors in the pull down option choices. Perhaps our Nation's distress with Covid and other difficulties often errors boobytrap meals. All prepared quickly and with care. On a Tuesday morning, I ordered thru GrubHub, a Chicken Garden Bowl and a Dark Chocolate Cashew Pudding. These are basically salad bowls with different types of toppings, like chicken, pork, steak, and chickpea/potato. Then you pick a "base," like millet/rice, grains/greens, and spring mix. The common ingredients appear to be cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, roasted sunflower seeds, pickled red onions, fresh cucumber, parsley garnish, ＆ signature sauce. There's plenty of add-on options to choose from. I chose the Chicken Garden Bowl with a spring green base, and extra roast chicken. First off, for $8.95, this isn't a huge salad. It's a salad loaded with good stuff at a relatively low price. It's enough for a lunch. I asked for extra chicken, and got a large scoop of warm roast chicken. The salad was actually more enjoyable after the chicken cooled. Oh yeah, and I tried the Dark Chocolate Cashew Pudding too. Tasty pudding for $2.95, just the right size for lunch. The chicken was flavorful and the veggies/rice/millet were all fresh! It honestly doesn't even need dressing. I did save the dressing for another salad or snack. Portion was good and the price was very reasonable. I ordered take out from San Leandro and it was totally worth the drive. I arrived after hours, sometime near 11p, and the parking lot and store looked dark and empty. There is a phone number posted on their front door. I called them and they met me towards the back of the parking lot, at their back entrance, and a young man kindly handed me my food. I work late night, so I'm very thankful that there are finally other options besides the typical fast food joints.
