I have been to Prossimo twice in the last 6 months and my latest experience was not that great. We had reservations and waited almost 30 minutes over our reservation time to be seated. The drinks were outrageously expensive. A basic cocktail was nearly $20 with tax. Wines were the same or more. And, the food was nothing spectacular. Our entrees were okay, but not great. Some of the group had tableside Alfredo and they said the pasta was a little undercooked. I had their Alfredo the last time I was here and it was amazing. This time, I tried something new and it was good but was very salty. I don't know what has happened here, but if I am paying $60 for a meal and a cocktail, I would expect better. Don't pay attention to the outliers giving bad reviews, this place will not disappoint I promise! When we go hard we go hard. We ordered a lot. The pics tell the whole story, and I couldn't fit my entree on there either. BUT the best part of this place is the experience and the people. The most friendly staff, always willing to accommodate, and make special changes if you ask. For example, my wife ordered the prawn pasta dish, BUT we didn't know they surprise you with scallops on there as well. AMAZING. The noodles are fresh for sure, the sauce is amazing, and the seafood so refreshing. We ordered the Mozzarella to be made in front of us. The suggested adding the caprese which goes so well with mozzarella. YES PLEASE! So cool to see the curds in boiling water turn into fresh cheese balls, and the oil and salt on them were epic! I ordered the Alfredo to be made in front of us as well. JUST what I wanted. Brandy in a giant cheese wheel, and on top of that, they let me double dip and get a side of 2 meats instead of just 1 that it usually comes with. The octopus was the best I have ever had! Not too chewy with great flavor. The half charcuterie board is enough to be super fun, but not too overwhelming to ruin the meal. Along with the original bread that came out, with the 3 sauces which are all awesome, great way to start! First visit for Sunday brunch. Enjoyable dining rooms and bar area. Standard bread serving was surprisingly good with three toppings for the bread including an olive tapenade, garlic and crème fraîche. Very nice. Entres were Pappardelle Bolognese which exceeded my expectations. Freshly made pasta was perfectly cooked, chewy and still tender with a delicious Bolognese meat sauce. Very filling. Second entres was a mushroom omelette with a rich, mushroom flavor and cheese. Excellent. The only complaint was the omelette was overcooked. read more

Wow!!! Is all I can say about this place. I brought my wife here the other night for our anniversary and I'm disappointed I even tried other Italian places in Tulsa. This place is on another level for a Tulsa restaurant. This is more of a Boston, north-end style spot. The food was 5 stars at every bite. The pastas are made from scratch and blow the competition outta the water. The steak is better than 9/10 of the local steak houses. The service was the best I've ever had. Allen was our server and was an absolute beast at what he does. He's 1/280 wine specialist in the usa. He was like an awesome old-timing butler, with knowledge of drinks and food that put others to shame. Props to this place, and the quality experience provided from the whole team here. The bread was 10/10 and there was three spreads: butter, olive tapenade, and garlic something, loved em all but the garlic. I had chicken parm is was just ok. Nothing to write home about, chicken could have been better. Butter noodles were solid. The table side chicken Alfredo was just ok, maybe below average, it was very sour and needed milk. UPDATE: the owner rectified the situation, and I will certainly give Prossimo another shot after such a speedy response and his obvious dedication to making improvements and taking feedback seriously. My friends and I made a reservation at Prossimo for brunch on Saturday. I had never been there, so I was excited to try it. We arrived and were seated promptly. However, the vibe was off. Our waiter was okay, but he didn't bring bread and we didn't get appetizer plates for quite awhile. It was not busy, so it was strange that we weren't getting great service. There were multiple members of the wait staff standing right behind our table, so it was confusing that we weren't being well taken care of. I ordered the ricotta toast for the table, and it was good. My friend got the scramble and marrow for the table, and the eggs were excellent. I'm not a big marrow fan, but the rest of the table was pleased with it. My friends ordered the spicy alla vodka and the bolognese. They were very pleased with their dishes and commented on how the pasta was al dente and the vodka sauce was excellent. I ordered the wild mushroom truffle risotto and added blackened chicken. The chicken was great, but the risotto was awful. It had no flavor. It looked beautiful, so everyone at the table wanted to try it. But everyone took a bite and had the same reaction - it was so bland. It had no flavor. I am assuming the chef forgot to season it, but the only redemption for the dish was the blackened chicken. I basically didn't eat the risotto, but I took it home in a bag because so much was left that I was embarrassed to leave it on the table. I was very impressed by Prossimo. The food was fresh and delicious and they had a good wine selection and a sommelier working. The wait staff was friendly and were sweet and patient with my young kids. I was impressed by their knowledge of the different ingredients and what made those ingredients stand out. This was my wife and I's second time and my food was great this time. My wife love's the Fettuccine Alfredo and I got the Prime Filet with Bone Marrow. This was my first time trying bone marrow, which was a little disappointing based on what I've read/heard, but the steak and sauce on the other hand were amazing. The daughter and I have long bee obsessing about the great myth of the giant cheese wheel that is lit on fire than pasta is tossed in it. When I heard that Prossima Presecco featured this, we made it top priority on her next visit. Not only was the pasta tossed in melted cheese amazing, but it was HOUSEMADE pasta so it was doubly decadent. Truly a unique, special pasta dish, this should be on your culinary bucket list. And this dish goes perfectly with PROSECCO, of which they have so many to choose from. A little bubbly to offset the cheesy goodness. We also had the buratta, another favorite of ours (because there was just not enough cheese on our menu that day). Buratta is fresh mozzarella that is tender and gooey and great with tomatoes and basil in a caprese style salad. WHAT WE DID NOT KNOW: They hand pulled the cheese right there in front of us so talk about fresh- it was seconds old when we attacked it. My husband and I dined here for Valentines Day. The staff was very respectful, kind and our waiter Mike was quite pleasant! He made sure we had all we needed and was never away for too long. My husband had the Lobster and Brandy Cream, it was very good. The lobster wasn't overwhelming, and the sauce was very flavorful. I had the II Vero Alfredo, and I can definitely say I did not expect it to taste the way it did (not necessarily in a bad way). For all those thinking it tastes like your basic Alfredo from Olive Garden, it's completely different. The cheese sauce from the Parmeggiano Reggiano was sweet however, didn't have a lot of flavor otherwise. It was different than what I expected so I believe it took me off guard. I do recommend salting the Fettuccini, if it's not already. People often times get scared of properly salting their food, but it is what brings flavor to the table. I believe the cheese sauce would have tasted better if there was some salt to it. For dessert we had the tiramisu, and I was genuinely shocked by it. It tasted good, however, it tasted like a shot of vodka. Our waiter told us there wasn't any alcohol in it, however, he did mention almond extract, which with any extract, does contain alcohol. I believe that's what was so strong. The ambiance was great, the music was very fitting, reminded me of Parent Trap, the old version. It was dim, with candlelight's on every table which was very fitting for a romantic dinner. We enjoyed our time there. read more

Prossimo was a delicious Italian spot right on cherry street. If you're looking for a bit of an upscale Italian experience, look no further. We started off with their lovely bread basket, which was good but it's not the best Italian bread I've ever had. The spreads that came with the bread were unique and definitely worth the try of the garlic and whipped butter combined. For an appetizer we decided to order the mozzarella that came hand pulled at your table. That was a very neat experience of getting to see the fresh mozz made right in front of you. We also paired it with the most delicious heirloom tomatoes. We both agreed to skip the mozzarella and just get the tomatoes. You have to get the tomatoes dressed with the balsamic... everything about this dish was dream worthy. My mom also ordered a Cesar salad which was really good and she let me try a bite or two. Before your main meal they'll bring out raspberry and lemon gelato from their sister gelato restaurant across the street. This is a palette cleaner which was super refreshing!! For our main meals, my mom got the Alfredo which comes made table side. They bring out an entire wheel of parmigiana and make the pasta right there in front of you. I opted for the mushroom risotto which was absolutely delicious. We were seriously too stuffed to even think about dessert. read more

I was extremely happy to receive an email letting me know Prossima now offers lunch dinning hours. I I called ahead to ensure table availability, I highly suggest you call to make reservations as seating is limited. I was greeted by Ryan whom kindly prepared our table, and Kate was our sever whom provided exceptional service. Everything we were served was robustly flavored, the pasta was fresh, the cheese was authentic, per my husband the scallops and prawns were seared perfectly. Each dish made us realize how our selection was suppose to taste; all because QUALITY ingredients were utilized. This doesn't surprise me at all as Prossima operated by the owners of Andolinis. Even though we were there for lunch the serving portions were a'la carte; we shared our selections with my 14 year old son and still had leftovers. This is the best kept secret in Tulsa! I enjoyed Saturday brunch with a friend after walking out on Smoke next door. Service here was amazing & their brunch menu is so unique and outstanding , definitely rivals some of the best hot spots I've visited in SF . We started with Prosecco since Prossimo has a cute little Prosecco bar attached, thus great selection. The complimentary bread plate was terrific - two kinds of house baked bread served with whipped butter, garlic confit, and olive tapenade. It was difficult to select just one appetizer because the menu was very well thought out, but we went with the table-side mozzarella and were not disappointed! It was interesting to watch and delicious to eat. As for mains, I couldn't resist getting the table side fettuccini after seeing another guest order it. This is a showstopper dish. Fresh pasta & butter, tossed right in front of you in half a parm wheel! One of the most flavorful, true-to-Italy dishes I have ever had; I highly recommend this dish. I ordered chicken alongside and was given a perfectly cooked bone-in thigh to add at my will. My fiancé got the prawn and loved it. Another great service nod to Prossimo: they brought the prawn to table in-shell, then offered to de-shell it if the guest preferred. By dessert we were stuffed but the server got us with the crème brûlée. Be warned, it is humongous, could probably satisfy 4-5 people, creamy consistency and a perfect shell. Overall I give Prossimo a 5 and am very happy to see this addition to the Tulsa dining scene, in particular because every other local Italian restaurant falls by the wayside in comparison. read more
