Sampler with jumbo pretzel for four people
    Sam A.

Wisconsin bar, FYI. Badgers, Packers, all of that. Met up with some friends here for some appetizers and some drinks. Food was a bit greasy, but if you want a wide selection of beers, a jumbo pretzel paired with other carbs and a variety of dips to wash it all down, then this is your spot. They've got big tables and areas to play games, sit around and watch TV, etc. Nothing special--just a dive with bar food.

prost is super fun!! it's a pretty big bar and it's very dive-y which made it the perfect place to get some beers , a huge pretzel, and play cards with friends. i got the german radler which was pilsner mixed with lemon-lime soda - i wasn't sure what to expect but it ended up being huge and delicious which is exactly how i like my drinks. we split the full pretzel and omg, you have to get it in case you're debating. it's just an amazing pretzel and all of the dips are really good too. service was pretty good/normal i would say. overall a fun spot id definitely check out if you're in the area and want to feel a little german for a night

    Great beer selection

Great bar in the Lincoln Park area service German style food. We stopped in and were very impressed with the beer selection. I am a big fan of Hefeweizen beer and they had multiple different heffes on tab, which is very unusual in Chicago bars. I ended up getting a burger. The cheeseburger was decent, little more greasy than I would. The bar tender working that night was very helpful and we got our beer and food fast. Looking forward to coming back to try other drafts and the German style food I have seen on the menu.

Good vibes...good food...good drinks. Came here because it was close to our parking spot for another bar. We decided to just got in because my friend wanted to yell Prost and see the big pretzel. Anyhoo, we were so surprised by the vibe. Music was great. Plenty of games. The food looked good. The prices on cocktails were reasonable. Enjoyed our time here. Left after 1 drink...decided to come back after venturing to other spots in area. They just didn't compare to the chill Prost Vibe.

This place is awesome - the pretzel is massive, so definitely order to share! Massive beer steins. Many dipping sauces for the schnitzel tenders. Classic German aesthetic on the interior. Will definitely visit again!

Very German-feeling inside which I appreciate. The half pretzel is HUGE and the cheese sauce with it is so good.

Prost was a very pleasant surprise. True, the "decor" looks like they raided a warehouse for old wooden furniture that hadn't been used since the 1970s. But the food was excellent -- juicy and flavorful European-style sausages presented on an ENORMOUS salad platter with fresh-tasting red cabbage, cucumbers, roasted red peppers, potatoes, sauerkraut, cornichons, and strips of ham. Paired with an excellent mug of German heffenweissen beer, it made for a very satisfying meal -- with enough veggies left over for a full lunch the next day! Service was good too, and prices were reasonable.

Everything you could want in a German beer hall--authentic, lively, and like you've been transported to Germany. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with traditional decor and large community tables. It's the kind of spot where you can kick back, enjoy great food with even greater company. From hearty sausages and pretzels to schnitzels and sauerkraut, every dish is tasty, and the beer selection is fantastic. Highly recommend!

    Big pretzel combo. Very tasty!

Love german food. Even this place could be little bit cleaner and less train noise, the spirits, service and a pretzel, pretzel, pretzel...!!! The best I ever had.

Came here on recommendations from many. The beers are good , cold , and ready for consumption. Had the schnitzel (first time) and it was delicious. Our waiter was Lucas and he was very attentive to our needs. Gives that old town bar feel , which is always a plus. Recommend this place .

It was actually pretty chill and laid back with almost no one at the bar and patio. This is located next to the Cubs statues. Go check those out whether you're a fan of the team or just baseball in general. Those who don't care about the loser team can still enjoy the offerings. It's about $8 a pint, which is a bit of a ripoff, but expected with the location. There's selections from local breweries such as Pollyanna. Also there's food. It's $8 for a big ass Pretzel. Even if you don't like the Cubs, it's a nice little bar. It's open during the season even when there's not a game. The beer is a good sample of the local breweries, plus they have pretzels that are good for sharing.

We came in around 1:15am, thinking this would be a cool bar to end the night. The first bartender informed us that last call was approaching. We only wanted one round, so we immediately closed out after ordering. That bartender was very attentive and pleasant during the entire transaction. At 1:50am, the other bartender (who wasn't even serving us/hadn't spoke to us) came over and said we needed to start chugging. Her words: "I'm not going to tell you to get the f* out, but you need to chug". She kept telling us we needed to chug, and I kindly told her I wasn't chugging anything because we already paid and I can literally just leave. She brought up the bar closing soon (we already heard the very loud announcement for last call). She proceeded to blame it on having a bad day. Mind you, someone next to me literally just came in, and was being served. She tried to back out of it and kept repeating we'll know when it's time to go. I'm not sure what kind of establishment this is, but she didn't say anything to anyone else but us, the only two Black women at the bar at the time. I don't understand why she felt like it was okay to direct her "bad day" at us, sitting there calmly with two half drunken beers, while there were plenty of other people still up and active at the bar. The behavior displayed, completely unacceptable.

Being the area I made reservations which I can tell you is HIGHLY recommended, if on a game day. I cannot speak for things on a day that's not one but this was and they were booming with a line out the door. We were sat promptly upon arrival and greeted quickly by our server. She was incredibly kind and even seeked information for us regarding parking in the area, thank you! We started with a cocktail and a draft beer, I had the Dovetail on draft and they are very good and local! Appetizer was a bit of a let down, we ordered pretzel bites, which seemed like the ones you buy from Walmart, not fresh at all, queso wasn't bad tho Entrees were on point tho! My rigatoni was cooked perfectly and the bolognese was full of flavor, my wife got her burger and had no complaints on her end. Overall not a bad experience, I would like to try them again on a day that's not a game day in the future and maybe ask for a suggestion on appetizers next time as I feel that one was a complete skip. The restaurant and all three bars were packed with people taking refuge from the weather, and Swift Tavern was actually a great place to ride it out before our Mumford & Sons concert. Huge shoutout to our server, Marianne. Even while handling a crazy number of tables, she stayed friendly, professional, efficient, and even kept everyone updated on the weather. The vibe was definitely loud (understandably) and our back-corner table had more of a retro diner feel than the upscale ambiance we expected. Food was solid: the warm bread board was a great starter, the steak salads were good (although the steak consistency varied a bit), and the warm chocolate cookie dessert was tasty--though the soft serve reminded me a little of DQ. Cocktails were strong, but with an $18 espresso martini and a $24 premium dirty martini, you're definitely paying Chicago prices. Overall, we spent about two hours there waiting for the skies to clear, and despite the chaos of the storm, the staff handled an incredibly busy night with grace. Good food, strong drinks, and excellent service when it mattered most.
