On my first visit, I had an excellent, relaxed outdoor dining experience. The single smash burger with bacon and lemon aioli was really, really good. Beer was great and Bethany, my server, was wonderful. I felt welcome as a single diner, which isn't always the case at some restaurants. My second visit was a little less wonderful. I sat inside, had a different server on a busy night and felt unappreciated, to be honest. The pace was frenetic with servers and bussers rushing around throughout the restaurant. My server was OK, but I don't think she cared one way or another about my experience as a patron and it showed. Servers really can make a big difference in dining experiences. I know that it's not an easy job, but something to think about for any servers reading reviews. FYI - the reserved signs on the outdoor tables simply mean that you need to see the hostess. The tables are not actually reserved. They really should use different wording because I almost kept walking, thinking that all the outside tables were taken. read more

What a cute little brewery! They have a handful of beers, with a good variety (i.e. 75% are *not* IPAs). Plus, I think it's fantastic that their menu describes the flavor notes! The prices are extremely reasonable, with most 10oz pours costing ~$5-6. The flight of the 'core' (shall we say) six is $20... not bad at all if you ask me. I ordered 10oz of the Liquid Baguette, as the menu described, Earthy, Crisp, and Refreshing. While not my favorite beer on the planet, it was very respectable for a craft brew. DryHop also has a proper food menu, with mostly American classics with some a little more out there options, like the Kangaroo Steak Frites or the Hunter Stew (I don't recall what kind of meat, but not exactly something readily available at Jewel's. The cup was a large enough portion, even made me wonder if I was given a bowl by mistake. The broth was rich and savory, with an ample amount of protein. While a little more meat and smaller pieces of potatoes would have been welcome, this is more personal preference than a critique. Something which was less than fantastic was the service. I felt it was inattentive and a little slow, especially given the brewery was only moderately busy at the time. Maybe I am becoming an impatient, old curmudgeon, or maybe there's some truth to my observation, you be the judge. Final verdict: I think DryHop would classify as a micro-brewery. In that regard, they have a solid selection and good variety. To have something for the beer to wash down there's a solid food menu. This is a nice, lowkey spot to visit with friends, grab a pint solo, or to just stop in and kill some time before a show! At 9pm on a Saturday, it wasn't too crowded and we were seated immediately. We ordered the beer flight and house-made seltzer alongside an order of the fried cauliflower & cheese curds. I thought it was very cool that they made their own seltzer- the drink was refreshing but slightly watery. Though I'm no ale expert, I thought that the holiday pint and lager from the flight were good. The cauliflower & cheese curds, however, were amazing! Both the cauliflower and cheese were unbelievably creamy and extra crispy. I really liked the subtle blue cheese dipping, which balanced the heat from the buffalo sauce well. This brewery was very cute and had a lot of seating! I don't drink beer and was super excited they also had cocktails on the menu. I got the spicy pineapple margarita rimmed with salt and it was a good mix of spicy jalapeños with sweet pineapple. We got the mango guacamole for the table and the fresh mango was delicious, but could have had a little more flavoring it in. My partner got a burger and didn't really love it. This place was an only ok experience for me. We sat at the bar and service was slow. They have their draft beer listed on wall, but unless you are seated right at the bar, difficult to read. We were not given menus, and their qr menus were wonky and difficult to work. My two ipas I tried had fun names, but only ok. They do offer 10 Oz pours which is nice. The Octoberfest that my husband had was probably my favorite. When they were running their dishwasher for their glassware, it had a strong urine like smell that was gross. DryHop Brewers is a great summer spot on Broadway! Patio vibes are immaculate, but even the inside was cute with the big front windows open. You can't really get a better deal than their $5 patio padre, and as for cocktails, the spicy pineapple marg was super good!! For food, we started with the cauliflower and curds- the serving was pretty big and they were delish. For mains, I got the Bbq-utie Pie and it was fine. I added chicken to it and it was really dry. The corn was also overly dry and kept getting stuck in my teeth. Partner got the roasted turkey sandwich was good, but nothing outstanding. What a cool little brewery. The atmosphere is very cozy and quaint. I came here for dinner by myself and sat at the bar. The service was fast and very friendly. I have mixed thoughts on this restaurant. When I got there, I asked the host if there were gluten-free options and was told they had a gluten-free crust for the pizza. The only real brewery in the Lakeview East neighborhood of Chicago, Dry Hop is a find.  I was having breakfast at Ann Sathers and needed some beer to help digest my food.  Okay, you got me... I didn't really need the beer for digestion, but I have been trying to make my drinking sound like a healthy habit.  Any whoo... really wanted some beer and trotted down to Dry Hop Brewers. I got there about 10 minutes before they opened.  It was the longest 10 minutes of my life. When they finally opened (a few minutes later) I rushed the bar and ran into Tristan.  Okay so you caught me again, I didn't really run into him, but he was my beertender and a darn good one I might add.  Tried to Hire him full time to go with me to breweries and pour my beers.  But he explained to me that that wasn't really a thing and if I had that much disposable income that I should probably open my own brewery.  I did consider it until the end of my flight of SIX 5 oz pours.  But then I agreed with myself because it sounded like way too much work for my post retirement years.  Plus I really don't have that much disposable income. Onto the venue... there is plenty of seating both inside and out.  It has bay doors that they leave open during the Summertime.  If you are sitting at the bar like I was, the air-conditioning is a perfect pairing with the out door breeze. They have food as well, but I didn't try any.  I came for the beer. The BEER: Saison It Ain't So... Saison 6% ABV... thus was not what I was expecting.  It tasted more like a Belgian Wit. Then I realized it is probably a Belgian saison when most places I visit have the French version.  For me this beer was perfect in every way. Surf Board of Doom... DIPA 7.8% ABV... I would characterize this as an East Coast DIPA.  Reminds me of a lot of the double from up northeast.  I always bet Rhubarb when I have doubles like this.  Prove me wrong. Gang's All Here... Sour 5.9% ABV... imagine watermelon bubble yum, but slightly sour.  It grew on me. Friend of Dorothy... Pilsner 5% ABV... a clean smooth Pilsner, slightly boozie.  I loved it. Shark Meets Hipster... Wheat IPA 6.5% ABV...  OH WOW, so much delicious fruit on the nose.  If I closed my eyes, it smelled like a juicy New England. It had some white grapefruit notes like some West Coast IPAs, but with way less IBUs. I could drink this beer all day. Me Oh Mai... Maibock 7.6% ABV... my Oh my what an easy drinking maibock.  Not too thick like some I have had in the past. If you like maibocks, this one is sneaky. The only criticism I have is some of the beers left a coating on my tongue which was slightly off putting.  I needed lemon and water to cleanse my pallet between beers.  The sour was the main culprit.  Still all the beers I tried were great.  The service was awesome.  And the hour and a half I spent here was well worth it.  Ther is something special here at Dry Hop Brewers.  Come see for yourself. read more

Craft breweries are getting fancy. DryHop is pretty nice looking, which is fine mostly. It just takes me away from the casual atmosphere you normally get at breweries, but that's just a preference. For sure the beer is still the main thing here. The food is pretty nice but nothing appeals to me really. Awhile ago I was meeting someone and we came here. It wasn't too busy and we got seats at the bar with a good view of the stills. This place apparently is going for a minimalist vibe. First thing we noticed about the menu were the prices were kind of high. Very true for the food, so it hampered our choices and we got small plates. Beer prices are typical for a craft brewery. It's about $7 a pint. The Thistle Dew was my favorite of these. It's a Scotch ale. This is moderately high at 8.5% ABV, so it can sneak on you. As for the food they have pizzas, but these are expensive. We got smaller things, such as the House Side Salad. It's $7, about the cheapest food here. This is an arugula base with corn, red onions, sherry vinaigrette, and tomatoes. It was okay even though it was light. There's also not many vegan friendly options. Beer is the main star of here. It has a good variety and prices aren't bad mostly. The food is too expensive but it has good flavor and stuff. read more

An enthusiastic five stars based on two visits so far. First stop was for lunch between work meetings. I ate at the bar and it was very quiet. I had the falafel burger, which I rate as one of the best burgers of any kind I have ever had - and I have had a lot. First burger made of falafel, but I eat a lot of falafel wraps. This is oustanding. Paired with the Wizard Fight IPA - so good you need two pints and they have to-go packs. Second stop was for dinner with my wife at a sidewalk table. I got the Nashville Hot Chicken, which was two slabs of chicken, perfectly fried gooey egg, and frankly incredible. I would not say "hot" but more flavorful - yet I know I have a very high tolerance for heat. Paired with the sampler. I would order both sandwiches again and again. Shout out for the great can art. Can't wait for the Shark Meets Hipster can to add to my garage wall with their others (Wizard Fight and Zombie Prom). Service great, food prompt, prices fair and great ambiance inside and outside. This place is good and solid. The menu is kind of small but what they do they do well: burgers, pizza and apps. I'd much rather have everything be good then have the menu be large, but heads up for those picky eaters. For apps we got fried pickles and the spinach artichoke dip. Both were good with the dip being the clear winner; it comes out piping hot in a skillet. I had a falafel burger which was excellent. The falafel tasted homemade and rivals some of the best in the city. Very well executed. I don't drink but it should be noted that the beer menu is not extensive. So if you're looking for a brewery that has a ton of taps this is not the place. All in all this is a solid neighborhood bar that has great food and is good for groups too! read more

The bank raaber pizza is absolutely amazing!! DryHop was awesome, but the bank raaber was absolutely the highlight! The broccoli was perfectly crunchy, the sausage was spicy, and the chili oil was hot and brought it all together!! I ordered this pizza both times I visited because it's THAT good! My friends also got the fungus among us pizza and fried chicken sandwich and absolutely loved those as well (and I loved the crispy fries I stole from them)! For drinks, I got the sassy sharkler and my friends got flights. Everyone enjoyed the flights and they have quite the variety from IPAs to saisons to stouts. I loved the sassy sharkler - IPA with grapefruit juice and a shot of gin. I had a similar drink at a different brewery so just had to try it here. A cute brewery tucked into the heart of Lakeview, near a ton of other bars and restaurants. It was lively on a Friday night without being absolutely packed, so you could still have a conversation with the people next to you. We were able to find a seat at the bar -- if you stop by in the evening though, definitely be wary that you might have to wait for a table. The ambiance is nice (personally loved the lamps and decor) and they have a great selection of beers.
