We've come here several times already and it's been consistently a great choice! Our first time here was because we saw that they're on InKind, but we keep coming back because of the quality. Their smoothies and shakes taste great and are blended well, and the bowls that I've gotten have been fresh and filling. This time I went with a Mango Cure smoothie and a MexiCali bowl. The smoothie has ginger, immunity booster, and is topped with cayenne, but all I really tasted was the ginger as a brief aftertaste. My wife tried it and said it "tastes healthy," so it might not be a go-to drink for some but it does help if you're feeling a little under the weather or just need a pick-me-up! The MexiCali bowl was delicious but had more of a kick to it than I was expecting from the spicy tomatillo sauce, so I'll probably ask to withhold that if I get it again. Protein Bar and Kitchen has been our go to for healthier options. As someone who counts their macros and is health conscious this is one spot to go to that measures and makes sure their items stay consistent. Their service has been great every time we have gone. Very nice staff and they are also very fast! I got the BBQ salmon bowl this time around and was delighted by how the salmon was buttery soft. The sides that came with were also very fresh and delicious. My only complaint would be that it was a bit over dressed for the side veggies. I normally get their green goddess and that is an item that made me fall in love with salads! The ambiance is great as well if you want to dine in. I was excited to learn that Protein Bar & Kitchen was opening in Northbrook and I had the opportunity to stop in for breakfast. The store is in a small building in the parking lot of the shopping center which made parking easy because I was able to park by the store, away from other cars there for the main retail shops. The restaurant is decorated in orange and white modern decor making for an upbeat feel. The service was friendly and quick, although at the time I was their only customer. I ordered the egg, bacon and cheese bowl and The Perk smoothie. The bowl was really good. The bacon was a good mix between crispy and chewy. The Perk was good. I'm not a coffee lover but I picked it because it had the least amount of carbs. The drink has a hint of coffee flavor but not enough that I didn't want to drink it. Their smoothies are elaborate and tasty. I got the Mango Cure without cayenne, and I think the cayenne would have been too much. Really liked it as it was, though -- just the right blend of tangy and sweet, with a little bit of a kick. The P.B. Chang's Bar-rito was pretty heavy on the sauce, which was kind of bland, but the tofu was cooked just right and I like the ingredient combo they've put together. All told, this is a solid option for healthy food in the north suburbs. A few more vegan options on the menu might be nice. Still, would recommend this one. read more

We came here for the grand opening as VIP customers based on our history of intense healthy eating. I happen to be the black sheep of the family and if lunch includes kale or some kind of powdered food I'd rather starve. I made an exception since the invitation was nice and my partner was so excited. With much trepidation I got the Japanese Bbq salmon bar-rito that has salmon prepared sous-vide and a bunch of healthy crap wrapped in a whole wheat tortilla and grilled. My wife got a salmon caesar salad which comes with a melange of life-energy and emotional well-being plus some kale, a piece of fresh dead fish, and a sprinkle of sunshine. We both got blue protein shakes that look like the blood of extraterrestrials with God knows what mixed in. The bar-rito was fresh and tasty and I actually ate the whole thing despite the stupid name. The bowl was generous in size and yummy too; hiding the cardboard texture of the kale quite well. The shakes were good, according to my spouse, although I honestly couldn't accommodate to whatever powder was blended in and thought they tasted like kindergarten paste. I probably just had too many toxins in my body that reacted violently with all the goodness in the cup. The place is cute, new and clean with excellent service being provided by the attentive staff and owner. We took a vote and decided to give the place 5 stars because we thought we saw Tinkerbell and Peter Pan flying around outside celebrating that this place is so good for you! Had we not been delirious from the kale and organic vegetable powders I personally would have knocked a star off for not having french fries as an option. Finally, it's worth noting that the place was full of North Shore salad Moms and their adorable little children; a coven of witches disguised by their plastic surgery and Lululemon attire. I ordered for the first time from uber eats. the delivery was slow. bowl arrived and it was cold, grossly undersized for the price and the ingredients were all tossed around and looked gross. I paid $27 for a bowl and a smoothie. The "bowl" was more like a cup. Cold scrambled eggs, arugula, goat cheese and uncooked ((?) mushrooms. Very overpriced for the money and I'm still hungry. Really enjoyed this new fast-casual spot! Met up with a friend here for a quick bite and catch up. All of the menu items looked delicious! I opted for the buffalo bowl with riced cauliflower. It was flavorful and had a nice kick, like eating a healthier buffalo chicken dip! The carrots added a nice crunch, loved the zing of the blue cheese, and the chicken was chopped and thoroughly mixed. Service was quick considering there were only two people working. I just happened to be driving by post workout and saw multiple "now open" banners. Instead of my usual Chipotle or Naf Naf bowl, I decided to give this place a try. First things I noticed is there are a lot of employees and it looks super clean. The menu provides plenty of options, which include fresh veges, fruits, proteins, and plant-based protein. They even sell some bags of chips which are primarily alternative veges like sweet potato. Important because sometimes you just need that crunch. They also offer a menu of protein shakes and smoothies. I ordered the "Pro Bowl" which comes with chicken, kale, tomatoes, mushrooms, spinach, sliced almonds, and riced cauliflower. There was a cream on it which they call "avocado cream". Overall, the bowl was delicious. Tasted fresh, looked fresh, and felt "healthy". The only downside...I was still a little hungry after. Even after 30 min of allowing my brain to catch up with my stomach, I was still a little hungry and I don't consider myself to be a big eater. Plus, the Pro Bowl was a few bucks more than my typical Chipotle rice bowl. I want to be fair with this review so I'll definitely return to try more items to compare apples to apples. I was super excited that they were opening a PBK in Northbrook as I used to frequent the ones in the city, but sadly I was left super unimpressed with this location. The interior itself is nice because it's new, and it's in a good location but the food- awful. I went in on a weekday evening around 630 pm and there wasn't a single person dining in. I ordered a mexi-cali bowl (for dine-in) and it was ice cold & didn't taste fresh at all. The quinoa was hard and all clumped together so it was hard to eat and I ended up throwing half of it away. My daughter got a kid's quesadilla and it was basically a wrap with COLD shredded cheese stuffed inside. They didn't warm it or even bother trying to melt the cheese- it was so gross I had to take it back (Which when I did, the staff looked at me like I was crazy.) She also got the kids chocolate banana smoothie and it tasted like cleaning supplies. She asked me why it "tasted funny" and then threw the rest away- a huge waste. Will return to the city locations when I'm in town, but this location will be passed over. read more

My daughter preferred the kids quesadilla and mango smoothie -- the quesadilla was packed with unmelted cheddar which she didn't like and she disliked the smoothie too (which for to not like a smoothie is rare.
