Great dining experience! Very lovely vibe here. There's a long bar and the dining area is very spacious with 3 sections that help to split up the noise. Food was good, nothing to write home about, but prices were definitely competitive and portion sizes were perfect. They have a great drink and dessert selection. Service was prompt and the food came out fast! Overall, I'd recommend.

During Family Weekend, we headed to Protocol for dinner. Our son order the smash burger which was devoured quickly. We also had the duck confit burger over lettuce, the acorn squash soup, the fall tagine (not pictured), and the sweet corn arepas. The dishes are arranged in order of how much I enjoyed them -- The duck really was the stand out as it wasnt greasy as duck can sometimes be -- but delightfully flavorful. My husband ordered the Passionate Presbyterian because of the name alone! The server was pleasant too despite the place being quite busy on a Friday evening.

The restaurant is very welcoming with so many plants throughout the restaurant. There's plenty of street parking and it's in a busy area. Seat yourself and the staff will greet you with a menu. It did take a while to get someone's attention. The fried chicken sandwich comes with chips. Order a side of fries, they are really good! The chicken is different than other places, I can't quite explain it. I think it's extra crispy while not being overcooked. This is a good place with a relaxing atmosphere.

12 Oct 2025: 1) crispy chicken sandwich 2) smash burger 3) hand cut fries 4) classic Caesar salad. Hand cut fries is not crispy. Caesar salad is good.

    Smash burger amazing-ness!!

OK - so I do believe their Smash Burger is the best hamburger I have ever had in my life. It's just bursting with flavor. Very impressed. Staff was friendly and helpful. Beer selection decent but not amazing. Other food and sides were all a 9 or 10. Cocktail selection so so but they are willing to go off menu for drinks. Overall high marks in terms of being a great bar and restaurant in the area. The bar itself is also LOOONG and pretty cool. Nice job!

The food was decently priced and tasty, but it was a bit loud and dark where we were sitting. Overall, a nice place to have a meal and a drink, our servers were very attentive.

Great vibe and food with good service. I'll definitely be going back to try their regular menu as my family and I went for a Sunday brunch.

For appetizers we had oysters and the grilled octopus. Both of which were delicious, but the serving size on the appetizer was very small. Next was the arugula salad. Really nothing special here. Very basic salad and portion size again was small. Then our main courses. I got the monkfish. The flavor was good, but again, SUPER small portion size for a main dish. My husband got the duck and same story there. Great flavor, very small portion size. For dessert we got the cheesecake and the chocolate raspberry torte like bowl. I thought these were both pretty decent. In terms of the ambiance, my husband and I both noted they needed to dim the lights by about 50%. It was very bright in there. Otherwise, the building is beautiful and they've done a good job. Overall, food is good, I would just love to see larger portion sizes and faster service time. Im happy to see a new place in town, so this feedback is not meant to be harsh, just some suggestions on how to improve.

I'm a vegetarian, and although a couple dishes had the option to swap the seafood for tofu, veggie options were lacking. The sesame cauliflower was very good as an app! I had wanted to try the burnt end mushrooms but they were no longer on the menu. Service was incredibly slow. I know the waitress was hustling and it's not her fault, but I'm not sure why it took 45 minutes for our entrees to come out. She kept apologizing and saying it would be out soon but we were there for a full 90 minutes before we got our entrees which was weird. I ordered the harvest bowl with tofu and it was fine. It was a big portion size, great variety of veggies, and the pesto was good. But there wasn't enough pesto for the whole dish and without the pesto, nothing else was seasoned at all. It was so bland. The tofu was just big chunks of lightly seared plain tofu. I saw on the menu you can order fish and chips with tofu instead, but it seems silly to come to a place known for seafood and swap their fish for tofu. Especially after eating the harvest dish, I don't know if they would even know how to properly prepare the tofu. Maybe this is a good spot for drinks and oysters but that's about it!

It wasn't until I was seated with my wife and 13 yr old son that I read other reviews here and it was too late to abandon ship. Oh well. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Service was very pleasant and attentive, although our waiter forgot our appetizer platter and just brought dinners, and had trouble getting our drink orders straight. This aside, the food was very good and fresh. I had the iron steak with gorgonzola, wife had the seafood risotto, and son had the "tour of italy" chicken parm (owner is from Naples). Although I found my portion to be lacking in size (as with my starter salad), it was very tasty and well prepared. Wife and son loved theirs. My house salad with lemon vinegarette was extraordinary. I am already looking for a lemon vinegarette recipe. Happy enough to have made a reservation for a sweet window booth for the entire family when we return for Family Weekend in Oct. Net net....good chow, nice atmosphere although I HATE seeing TVs (over bar) when I dine, and a diverse menu for all palates. Wish I had some rawbar and time to have dessert. And I'm sure all would have improved if I didn't have to pass on more vino due to a impending drive home to eastern MA.

Animated and action packed Update-…read more Previously I focused on the coffee, most would in a cafe, but today, I was thinking of the baked goods, I usually keep things low carb, but since I was here I decided to make today my treat day. I had returned to the area for some shopping and decided to stop by the cafe, but alas, I was too late ! I had reminisced on the delicious cookies but it was not to be. My memory returned to my first visit.. As I stepped into the warm and inviting cafe, the sweet aroma of coffee and freshly baked goods wafts through the air, tickling the nose and captivating the taste buds. One can't help but feel anticipation and search for the source of this wondrous scent, the eyes dart to a display of baked goods brimming with life and love declaring forth their delightsome quality to the nostrils. Each bite of these heavenly treats is like a symphony of flavors exploding in your mouth. The cookies are perfectly soft and chewy, with just the right amount of sweetness, and melt in your mouth like butter. You can taste the high-quality ingredients in every bite, and it's clear that the bakers here take pride in crafting each and every cookie with care and precision. But it's not just the cookies that impress. As one peruses the display case, the eyes catch sight of the cinnamon-buns , many more treats, and even pretzels - twisted and golden-brown, with a sprinkling of salt that glistens in the light. I don't even typically enjoy pretzels, but these were too good to ignore. I take a bite, and it's like no pretzel experienced before. The outside is perfectly crispy, giving way to a warm and fluffy interior. The salt balances out the flavors, you can't help but be amazed at how something so simple can taste so incredible. As i leave the cafe, my senses still buzzing with the delicious flavors and scents. Everything in this cafe is highly recommended, and some of the best baked goods in the area. But today it was not to be, I went to a nearby franchise shop which specializes in cookies... nice staff but .. meh If your in the area and want a cookie this is the place I recommend, take caution though, it could ruin the experience of cookies anywhere else!
