My friend first showed me this restaurant before Christmas. I love the foods so much. I like to eat papaya salad a lot, and they make the best that comparable to Thailand. So, I decided to take my family here for dinner. The owner is very welcoming and cheerful when greeting the customers. This place is kinda small but it make you feel like home. Sadly disappointed by the food here after all the great reviews. I ordered the chicken pad thai and friend ordered beef pad thai. The noodles were strangely chewy and the dish lacked flavor. Proud Thai is one of the only places that delivers to New Providence...and this is totally fine because I could eat there everyday. Not only is their delivery super fast but the food is great. One of the only Thai places in this area that lets you choose how spicy you want your food. My only complaint it's a little pricey. The pad gra pow is so good but you don't get much for $14. Great authentic Thai place. Love the fact they have a dedicated vegetarian section in the menu which includes mock duck dishes. Service was friendly and fantastic. Been wanting to come since they opened and finally popped in tonight. Tiny little dining room since it's mostly takeout. You could tell that they were very busy with takeout orders, but the staff was still so nice and accommodating. We had the Sleeping Bag Shrimp for an appetizer which we ordered solely based on the name. They were delicious. My boyfriend was thrilled that Drunken Noodles were on the menu and I ordered Pad Thai to get a baseline comparison to other Thai places. We were not disappointed. Some of my fave Pad Thai to date and the Drunken Noodles were also delicious. Generous portions- we each took half home. It's so great to find a restaurant that provides authentic flavors, and having an authentic Thai restaurant in my town is absolutely awesome! My go-to Thai dish as a litmus test is Massaman curry. Theirs was amazing -- Savory, tender meat, well balanced heat, and a sauce that's not watery or bland (I HATE THAT!). My wife had the drunken noodles that seems to be a favorite amongst many, and that did not disappoint either. I will definitely be going back to this place. To those that wish to dine in here... Their place is very clean and welcoming, but be warned that the establishment itself is fairly small, meaning that there are just a few tables in the dining area. I cannot say enough amazing things about Proud Thai Cookery and the folks that work there. We have gone there a couple times, but tend to order delivery from them. On Halloween we decided to order delivery. Normally delivery is super fast, but this time we waited a little over a hour and still no food. My husband called to check on the order and was told they were super busy and they were very sorry. Shortly after that the food arrived and I heard the delivery lady apologize to my husband. She explained that there was a lot of traffic and people crossing the street. Luckily the food was still warm and as amazing as always. Roughly 20 minutes later I received a call from a man apologizing again for the delivery. He even offered to give me a discount. I thought that was so nice, but I told him it wasn't necessary. I didn't think they should be punished for an isolated incident. Plus, I didn't think they should be punished for the driver being cautious with so many kids out trick or treating. I highly recommend Proud Thai Cookery not only for the delicious food, but for the outstanding people they work there! read more

My husband and I, on a whim, decided to try a new place and it was the best Thai we've ever had. We ordered the fried rice with chicken and the green curry sauce with shrimp. It was so delicious that we ate it all. We even decided to order dessert I had the coconut pudding and he had the mango stick rice on the recommendation of the owner. What a treat! It was warm sweet and delicious. I even ate all of my dessert (I'm not usually a big fan of sweets). You can tell that the owner takes pride in his food and pours love into it. Just used the Yelp app to order take out for the first time and it went perfectly. More importantly I'm excited that a genuine Thai restaurant has opened in BH and it is serving excellent food for a good price. The space is small and there are only a handful of tables so most of the business is take away. I started with the spring rolls which came 5 in an order and were very sizable unlike some of the other Thai places in the area. The Pad Kua Gai Noodle and chicken Pad Gra Paw were both solid dishes. I ordered both dishes spicy but will probably try extra spicy next time because I like it extra hot. We are looking forward to trying the curries and other dishes next time around. Passed by tonight and decided to give it a try - we've been desperately looking for a good Thai place, and this is exactly what we were looking for! We dined in, but you should know that there is very limited seating (4 tables that sit four each). We were the only ones dining in, but they were very busy with pick up and delivery orders, so we must not be the only ones to find this gem! The owner waited on us and was very hospitable and welcoming. We ordered the dumplings (very good!) as our appetizer. I had the green curry: excellent, ordered mild and it still had a great spice- if you don't tolerate spice well, I would probably pass and try something else. My husband tried the pad gra praw with chicken and he got it medium, and was very pleased! It was exactly what we wanted and are looking forward to going back and trying their other dishes! I honestly never tried anything else here I've only had the chicken pad Thai and it's really delicious it's not too oily like some places serve or too dry and the amount they give you is enough for two people. My boyfriend and I rarely have time to cook so we get delivery very often. Unfortunately, we are limited to a handful of restaurants that deliver in our area. I decided to see if there were any new places that delivered and came across this restaurant. We LOVE Thai food and were so excited to see that they delivered. My boyfriend ordered a proud sampler, tom kha gai soup, tom yum koong soup, pad woon sen noodle and crispy frog legs. He said everything was amazing. I tried the frog legs and they tasted so good. I decided to order the gai yang chicken. I'm always a little hesitant to order chicken because restaurants tend to overcook and under season chicken. This was not the case. I loved it! For drinks we both ordered thai iced tea and definitely recommend it if you've never tried it. As for dessert, we both ordered taro custard, coconut pudding and sticky rice with mango. Again, everything was amazing. In fact, everything was so amazing we ordered again two days later! This time we ordered the drunken noodle with beef(I'd like to thank all the reviewers who suggested this!), tiger cried and duck lard prik. I can't wait to order the drunken noodle again! We met the owners of Proud Thai while they ran Khun Thai in Short Hills & we wondered what happened to them. Now we know, they opened their own place! While we've never bee to Thailand, the food seemed honest and true to the roots and not dumbed down for American pallets. The flavored were fresh and vibrant. We started off with Yum Talay, an outstanding "salad" of squid and shrimp tossed with cashews & mango in a chili-lime sauce. Simple and simply outstanding. Next we had basil-fried rice and pad Prik. We've had similar rice only once before in Crested Butte at Ryce, and a friend there said this was as good or better than he had in-country! The pad Prik was also a hit with wonderfully complex flavors. And if you like spicy, this is Thai-hot. I had flop-sweat going with medium, and I usually order 4 or 5 stars "Thai-hot". Go. (Or have delivery as they've spent their startup budget on the kitchen and food, not the decor, which is fine by me!). Enjoy. You've been warned about the heat levels though! A little hidden gem on Springfield Ave. I came here with friends from work for lunch this week, let me tell you - hands down BEST Thai I have ever had. Chicken vegetable soup was so good. One of the best soups I've ever had. Thai iced tea & regular iced tea are the bomb dot com. I had the pad see ew with chicken lunch special which comes with soup or salad & complimentary spring rolls, it was absolutely phenomenal. I just had the rest of it for lunch today & I swear somehow it tasted even better. The staff is very friendly & helpful, very family like. They joked with us & made us feel comfortable. A friend who I meet at the YMCA told me about this place and my husband and I decided to give it a try this evening and we weren't disappointed. We started with the fried fish cake and it was delicious, we went onto trying the Yum Woo Sen which is steamed glass noodles with ground chicken, shrimp and squid with chili lime juice dressing at a very spicy level and bout it was hot but so good! Then we shared the crispy whole fish with three flavor sweet chili sauce and it was perfectly cooked, the fish wasn't dry and the sauce was yummy! We can't wait to return and try some more dishes.
