This place is really good and very authentic. I really like their vegetarian menu specially when you have a little sister that is vegan and has so many restrictions in her diet lol and this place has such a great diversity of dishes for her. Plus, the regular menu is fantastic, their service is so friendly and attentive that you want to go just go back for that. I totally recommend the tofu tod for a vegan appetizer and the curry puffs yummy with their chilli peanut sauce. As and entree I will recommend their chicken pad sweet and sour or their penang curry with jasmine rice. They have many levels of spicy (medium, spicy and Thai spicy) I was fine with medium I like spicy food. The food was really good and their Thai tea was so good and refreshing. My husband and I love Thai food. This place is closest to our home so we'd figure let's give it a try. We made reservations for a Friday night as it was recommended when we called to inquire. Looked forward to eating here after reading the good reviews, but when we went there this afternoon for lunch the service was HORRIBLE! There was only one lady working, and took forever jus to order our food. So we had the thai teas and calamari that came out, and got the check! The ppl that were working seemed more concerned about things happening in the kitchen and elsewhere than tending to us (the one customers at the time). Place was super small, and cramped. To celebrate our Anniversary, we decided to stay home and eat with the family and ordered LOTS of takeout from Proud Thai. We got Tom Kha soup, the chicken wings, a chicken and a shrimp Pad Thai, steamed broccoli, Red Curry, Massaman Curry, Panang Curry and sticky rice with mango for dessert. EVERYTHING was DELICIOUS!!! The shrimp was plump and moist. The soup had so many layers of different flavors it was a delight of tastes! And all the curries were wonderful! The mango was also perfectly ripe. My personal favorite is the Panang Curry with chicken! Our daughter always loves the Massaman, but couldn't resist trying everything else too. If you're looking for great Thai food in the Summit, NJ area, you MUST visit this place. My absolute favorites here are the Mango and Soft shelled crab salad, Tod Mun (fish cakes), Tiger Crying.. I love all of their Thai salads since they all have the perfect balance of flavors spicy, sour and a touch of sweet which makes it authentic and close to Thai street food. Most recently, we've enjoyed their noodles. We have tried the Rad Nha, Pad Thai, and Pad See Ew and they have been delicious. The noodles are fresh and you could tell that they have been sautéed in a hot wok.. which gives it a smoky flavor that you don't get from most restaurants. My son's favorite is the Drunken Noodles with duck and they were generous with the duck. The restaurant is small and quaint with few tables. The secret is out so I've noticed that they've been getting busier. If you plan to go, call ahead for a table just in case. As far as service, they care and the owners are almost always there to greet and to give you the best service possible. Lunch is great value with most dishes $7.95 or $8.95 depending on which protein you choose. And finally, ask to see if there are any specials for the day. Food was mediocre at best. Pad thai barely had any flavor and the chicken was beyond dry. The Massaman curry had a sour taste to it. Service was just as bad. I was put on hold and then hung up on. I also asked about the vegetables used in vegetarian option beforehand, but when i opened the container, it was different. Try somewhere else! read more

This was some of the best Thai food I've had ever. Full stop. We ordered the duck gra prow and drunken noodles with pork. We asked for spicy, and both were perfectly spiced. Funnily, the staff kept asking if they had forgotten to put in the chili peppers, even though cut up peppers were pretty visually obvious in both dishes. In any case, the noodles were great, but that duck is the stuff of dreams. Perfectly cooked, crisped at some spots, and melded perfectly with basil and garlic flavors. It's best cut into pieces and scooped up with a spoon. I can't recommend the duck enough. The mango sticky rice was also just delicious. read more

Not good. I don't understand the love for this place at all. The papaya salad looked pathetic and was swimming in fish sauce. The drunken noodles--my wife ordered hers with beef and I had mine with vegetables and tofu--were too sweet. I'm pretty sure they used ketchup in mine. Gross. Won't be coming back. read more

Proud Thai is by far my favorite Thai food restaurant in the central NJ area, if not my favorite of all time. Their Pad Thai and Pad Cashew nut are the best I've ever had! The portion sizes are large and perfect for splitting, or wrapping up to enjoy the next day. The staff is always friendly and accommodating and the wait time for a meal is usually no longer than 10-15 minutes. There isn't much seating inside, as the restaurant is fairly small, so I usually grab orders to go- but the interior is clean and well kept. Definitely a must try! read more

I have been ordering from this place for quite a few times and the food was generally good. I especially like the basil sauce red snapper. The reason I was giving a 3 star is because the food I ordered yesterday somehow leads to diarrhea for the whole family. Our doctor said it was probably some virus contaminated food. Came here for a nice sitdown lunch on a Friday afternoon and was not disappointed. I really like spicy food but for my first time, I ordered the drunken noodles with beef and asked for mild spicy along with a thai iced tea. The dish was a decent portion but I should have asked for spicier. It wasn't too oily and very fresh ingredients were used. I got the lunch special so got a side salad and a spring roll with my dish. After a few bites the owner asked if it was spicy enough and I said I could do hotter...so he came back with some chili pepper powder which hit the spot! The iced tea tasted like any other thai restaurant but it came in little mason jars which was a little different. It is a small family-owned place that can sit about 20 people. The owner is very friendly and seems to love to chat with his customers. I started up a conversation with him and found out alot of stuff in common with him. He's a really down-to-earth guy and has a great personality. I will definitely be back again or getting take-out in the near future. I can't wait to try their other dishes! They even deliver to New Providence which is a great plus...probably wont need it since I'm only about 8 minutes away. read more

I had ordered from here a couple of times and really liked it! Then we went for lunch today (a couple of months since we last had take-out)... We each ordered the green curry lunch special with brown rice, one with the soup and one with the salad. First off, we were both brought the salad. No one came by until our curry was ready, so I asked them to please bring me the soup instead as that is what I asked for. Not a big deal... Looked at our plates and it was white rice. Again, not a good thing but not terrible... The rice is on the plate with the curry so it soaked up a decent amount of the curry sauce. Anyways, they brought us brown rice as we had asked for. THE REAL REASON I AM GIVING THIS PLACE ONE STAR: The first piece of chicken I was about the eat was RAW. Just the outside was cooked and the rest was REALLY raw. So I let the waitress know and she didn't even apologize! She took the plate and said ok. A couple of minutes later my chicken curry was brought out and it was fine... Not good, not bad. No apology and they did not take it off of the bill. Won't be back, and clearly wanting to warn others. read more

My friend first showed me this restaurant before Christmas. I love the foods so much. I like to eat papaya salad a lot, and they make the best that comparable to Thailand.
