The service is ridiculous. First of all let me just say that their "menu" states that "if you are in a hurry this isn't the place for you" how RUDE. Also- they have a service charge fee for using your debit card which is stated NO WHERE on their menu or on the receipt which shows no itemized of food or drinks.. will absolutely not be coming back. This place came highly recommended and we stopped in for lunch. First of all they charge $6.50 for chips and salsa. It was no better than the chips and salsa you get everywhere else for free. I noticed they offered chips, salsa and guacamole for $17. Are you kidding me? Yes $17. I had the veggie quesadilla and it was just ok. Nothing special. Nothing great. Not worth $10. My boyfriend had beef tacos. He said they were OK but didn't have much beef. Margarita was tasty but there was so much ice in the glass there was little room for the margarita itself. I have been to this restaurant several times now and EVERY time have been placed at the same small table for two next to the bathroom. Not sure if it is their only two top or just my bad luck. The food is good, usually comes out pretty quick, and it seems to be a popular place, as they are almost always busy. I know they are still closing fairly early, like 8 or 9 even on weekends, so there is small window of when one can dine there. My only criticism is that the servers always seem rushed. I recently went to Provecho to meet up with friends. Their guac is THE best! The food is all reliably great. The service was solid. I recommend this place if you are looking for casual ambiance, good service, delicious food, and fantastic cocktails. They hit a rough spot with customer service about a year ago, but that has been dealt with and it's once again the outstanding, too little known treasure in downtown Vancouver. I like their food, but they have rude service. Tried to go with a party of 11. Wouldn't seat us because they didn't have a table that large, which is fine. That makes sense. I asked for two tables next to each other, they said no. Wouldn't explain why, just refused to seat us even though they had the means to. I was accused of trying to deceive them over the phone, when I never called them before. Never been to a restaurant who refused business while being rude and argumentative, especially a large amount of business. To start- the food is amazing. It always has been; I've been eating here for years. So why the three star rating? The service. It just isn't good and it really never has been. I've accepted that for years. Tonight, I was getting my haircut next door and had my 11 year old daughter with me. It was getting close to closing time (7pm- strange) and she went to check to see if we could still be seated. They said yes, but the bar part might close. No problem. We all walked in 10 minutes later at 7:03 and were told we could order food to go, but we couldn't eat there. There were plenty of other patrons. Provecho is so good! They boast "healthy" Mexican food and I really think they do it well. I never feel like I've eaten a pound of grease when I finish the food. I usually get the tostada. My main beef with the tostada is that it is like 99.9% shredded lettuce and .1% actual meat and toppings. The meat that is on there is very flavorful. It's a bit pricy considering this is the case. Initially, the (maybe $5-$7) for chips and salsa seems like a lot for a little joint like this...but wow, it's worth it. They fry their chips in peanut oil, and they're hand made. THEY'RE SO GOOD! We make a point to get them to go every time we finish our meal. Otherwise, the drinks are good and the service is friendly. Since I live two blocks away, I frequent this place pretty often. Stumbled on this place because of a photo of the nachos on Instagram. They looked so delicious I was obsessed with getting across the bridge to try them. Quaint, clean restaurant with great customer service! The cheese quesadilla was delicious with cilantro and onions giving it layers of flavor. But the nachos stole the show for me. Hands down the best I've had; why? Because they don't just dump the chips on the plate then pile the toppings on so that you're left with a plate of loose, naked chips once the toppings are gone. Yes, their menu is limited. Yes, you have to pay for the amazing chips and guacamole. Does that phase me? Not one bit! I'm honestly not sure what other people are talking about in terms of the bad customer service. I was a repeat customer here, sometimes even showing up in a huge group of rowdy teenagers (even before the expansion when it was extremely limited seating) and never felt disrespected in any way, shape, or form. But let me get back to their nachos. My mouth is watering just thinking about them and makes me want to fly back here to stop by. The meat is amazing; the pico de gallo is savory; the beans, sour cream, guacamole, and cheese are all scrumptious. The half order is enough to feed a small village and the full order is enough to eat for dinner for a whole week. If you're eating by yourself and don't order chips, you can definitely get out of here in under $10 if you're trying to save your money. Provecho is different than most local Mexican places: It's not like the fast food Mexican places (e.g. Muchas Gracias), though the menus are similar, and the menu is generally different than the family Mexican places (e.g. El Tapatio), though the overall appearance may be similar. The menu options are pretty basic: tacos, tostadas, burritos, and quesadillas (with a few other things like chips and salsa, which you pay $5.50 for). You can add very tasty carne asada or chicken or their are meatless options. Menu items run about $7.00 which is more than Muchas Gracias or Don Pedro, but the food is better (and authentic) and the restaurant itself is far nicer. The salsas are very good, and the spicy red one uses a roasted chile that gives a great flavor. You can choose between whole black or pinto beans on burritos. The restaurant is painted in bright colors like you would find in Mexico, and there are lots of crafts for decorations. The bar area is actually larger than the main seating area, and there are a few small tables outside. The building it is in is nothing special, but the inside is far nicer. read more

Not good for a large party, they accommodate couples at best. All food offered is basic. You will be charged to add sour cream($2), guac($5) and chips & salsa($6.50) Servicer was not friendly. Our party had a diner with food allergies. When she ordered she asked if she could build her own salad and the waitress said what don't you like about the salad mentioned. As a teenager, I think the abrupt response threw her off, and she order nothing! We were shocked when we paid to see a service charge for using our card. So many restaurants have gone to no cash(since COVID)but this restaurant has gone opposite saying they encourage cash, when we asked about the fee. The card fee was not disclosed. The bill was very hard to figure out and split once we were home . The bill was hard to make sense! They took the total bill, added 8.7 tax totaled it, the added 20% gratuity totaled it, then added a 3% service fee! It was rather disappointing the whole experience. Last night a group of six of us who were out in the downtown area went in and we're informed that a table of six has a mandatory 20 percent tip.
