I needed to have my pedals removed and handlebars turned to ship my bike on Amtrak, and it was done on the spot, in 2 minutes, for free! The friendly gentleman (owner?) didn't accept payment just wanted me to pay it forward or spread the good word to my friends. I take that to the wider audience of Yelp and say thank you for a great experience. During those brief few minutes of service I perused the beautiful road bikes, many of which were on sale. After 8 years of living in Boston, this bicycle shop had the largest inventory of bikes I had seen - and I was impressed by the selection and price. They carried a variety of other bicycle gear, mountain bikes and hybrids. If you are in the market for a new bike, I would definitely stop here. read more

Overall, a great experience. I special ordered a GT Mountain Bike from the store and the bike was on back order and shipping was delayed, once the bike arrived the manufacturer had sent the wrong frame size. The manager Mike did his best to keep me happy and upgraded the bike model to a Specialized Hardrock for only $25 more, a $125 value. A much better bike! I highly recommend Providence Bicycle, they took responsibility for the manufacturers error and I was able to ride away happy and with a better bike. I stopped in this weekend to look at triathlon bikes and was very impressed with the personal service I received. Sean took a great deal of time explaining to me about the importance of stack and reach in fitting a triathlon bike. He gave me details on all the bikes they carry that would be compatible with my fit. The personal attention and service definitely won me over. I'm very satisfied with my experience at Providence Bicycle on Branch Ave today. I came in wanting a brand new bike and never having walked into a bike store before. A friendly guy named Noah helped me right away. I told him that I was looking for a road bike at under $650. He immediately said "I'll be right back" and pulled out a beautiful Giant Liv Avail for me. It was almost as if he knew a woman my age, income, and interest was coming, and had picked out this bike for me in advance. He let me take the bike for a test ride behind the shop and made sure that the bike fit me first. I loved the ride and the fit was perfect. I asked if he could hold the bike for me so that I could come back with a bigger car. Sure enough he did, and I purchased the bike! I left satisfied with my experience for many reasons. First, as a young woman who isn't exactly an athlete, walking into a store like this can be intimidating. I imagined this stereotype of a bike store that would be run by judgemental hipsters that wouldn't be interested in helping a woman. I didn't get that at all. Second, I was afraid I'd be swindled and get a "hard sell" on something I couldn't afford. Also wrong. And finally I was intimidated as my bike knowledge is not exactly that of a triathlete. I left humbled by their willingness to educate, yet not dumb down the experience. So, thank you Noah and thank you Providence Bicycle. I have never had a bad experience here, and I cannot say that about any other bike shop. They are friendly and welcoming, help without hovering, and have a good selection. I've had various service done there on some of my older bikes, and they are professional, honest and helpful. I haven't bought a new bike in years, because I already have five, and I find that other shops tend to shun you a bit if you're not there to buy a new bike. Even when I come in for a small part, they make me feel like they value my business. Bravo! read more

Wow! I am so impressed with both locations of Providence Bicycle. All the guys were so cheerful, friendly and helpful. I bought a Townie, Feet on the Ground 7 speed bicycle today and I just love it. I have had bilateral knee replacements and needed a bicycle that I felt safe on. These guys are so respectful, I didn't feel like the middle aged lady taking up their time on a $400.00 ish cruising bicycle when they could have been selling a racing bike to some sleek "cyclist". Should I start by saying the Warwick store I give 5 stars. Great knowledgeable staff and great deals on their bikes. My problem is with the Providence location. I had been in the market for a full suspension bike for a while and was told this is a great place. Problem one, I was in the store for fifteen minutes before being noticed, and once attended to was made to feel like I was wasting their time. After test driving the bike I asked for a good price as the bike was a 2011 model. Of course I was given the generic 10% off price, seriously this is a 2011 model. After agreeing on a price I removed the 3500$ cash from my pocket and this is Why I have a serious problem. Quote " if I knew you had that kind of money on you, I would've rolled you in the parking lot. " yes this is what the female " manager " had said to me. Are you serious?? If I could have found that bike at that price somewhere else I would have not continued with the purchase. I guess being located in the Providence they deal with a lot of dreamers. First off don't judge and second I'm in Providence do I really need a please rob me sign just to buy a bike. I hope she never repeats that statement because obviously she thought it would be a great confidence booster. Also after their " go home checklist " I received my bike with minimal air pressure in the suspension. I'm talking 90lbs. in my fox float rp23 center shock and the brakes have not stopped making noise in a month. This bike was Not a demo. The next bike will be purchased else were... so I don't get " rolled in the parking lot" haha and I can have a functioning bike that actually was checked before I took it home. I'm paying another shop to do my tune up as I don't trust this place anymore even though I have a free tune up from them. Great customer service....
