Since I didn't know anything about bikes before I recently bought one, I did a little bit of shopping around first. I started out buying a cheap dept store bike, which blew a tire within a week or two, and was promptly returned. After the cheap bike earned me a 10 mile walk, I decided to go for a more expensive model and looked at a few local bike stores. Not only was Union Cycle the friendliest and most knowledgeable, but they also came in at or below the higher-end chain stores' prices! They've been taking good care of me since then, and seem genuinely interested in how my experiment with biking has been going. For anyone else that's new to biking, I'll offer the advice that dropping a hundred or so more dollars on your bike is well worth it - it's a lot more comfortable, and I haven't been left in a ditch anywhere yet! read more

Union Cycle - Bikes Near Me - Attleboro, Massachusetts

On Saturday 6/19/21 I dropped my Trek bike off to have repairs done. Needed a rear tire tube (flat) along with front brakes, brake lines and front fork adjustment. The store employee wrote up the receipt and said my bike would be ready Tuesday. I specifically asked that I be contacted with a price before the work was done. Monday 6/21/21 Call made to check on my bike. Store employee told me the bike wouldn't be ready until NEXT Tuesday 6/29/21. Upon reviewing the receipt it has a date and tiny check mark on the 29th. I explained this was unacceptable and asked that the flat be fixed so I could get my transportation back. I was informed this wasn't possible as there were too many bikes ahead of me. I literally begged to have my bike returned to me! Call received later in day with voice mail that the bike was ready!! Tuesday 6/22/21 went to Union Cycle at 10am. Store employee brought my bike from the back and he had to pump up the tire 1st. He rang it up and the price was $41.55. I paid it without a word and left the store. I was in shock due to the excessive charge. Will NOT return to this store. ***Addendum to review. "Rick" from Union Cycle reached out to me and wanted me to bring my bike back in. Super nice gesture and somewhat restores my faith in the store. I gotta say on prior occasions when I've been there I was always treated well and my bike issues rectified. Perhaps I was a little harsh with my review but I wasn't happy about the price but again I should recognize this is a specialty store and things are a little more expensive there. The guys who work in bike shops tend to fall on one end or another of a spectrum from pretentious/condescending to super friendly and helpful. These guys fall somewhere in the middle. Went in looking for a part, they didn't have it (it's a niche size so I understood that it wasn't likely to be in stock) they offered an alternative solution that did solve the problem but looked ridiculous (26" rim with a valve stem that extended 2/3s the radius of the wheel) when I went back to return the piece and said I'm just going to look for the piece I need elsewhere the condescending sales guy hit me with the "good luck with that". I called Dash Bikes in Providence and they said "sorry we don't stock that size but we can order it for you" What do you know how easy was that... read more

Went in there with my family with 3 kids 6, 8, &10 figuring a bike shop is a family friendly environment. Well, I was wrong. They had a bike right in front of the counter in the open area of the store that was a new fat tire bike. My kids were looking at it one touched the handlebars and I touched the tire and the guy behind the counter was a jerk and said it was a $10K bike and that we better be careful. My advice to him is don't put a valuable bike like that in the open right in front of the display case when you walk in. I would never give business to someone that treats their customers this way. He completely ruined the experience and we left abruptly without another word. Learn some customer service skills, surprised you're still in business. read more

I recently went to Union Cycle to get some new parts and upgrades to my commuter bike. After doing the math and learning about my wants/needs in a bike, the sales associate/mechanic recommended a new bike. I wasn't pressured at all to buy; and I actually left that day without purchasing. When I got home all I could do was think about the advantages and new adventures on a new bike. I brought my bike here the day after it was "tuned-up" at another shop. Long story short, the other shop handed me my bike back in un-working condition after the tune-up. I had to bring my bike to Union in an emergency, instead of bringing it back to the other shop (even though I wasn't ready to have them touch my bike again after the first time). The guys at Union Cycle were really friendly, didn't try to sell me anything and even fixed my bike for free on the spot! They looked it over and said that the job the other person did on the breaks would have put me in a very dangerous position if I tried riding it. They fixed my breaks, straightened out my handlebar, and put a new chain on (I paid less than half of what the other company tried charging me for a chain) in less than 20 minutes. Like I said, they were friendly, understanding, professional, and knew what they were doing! I highly recommend Union Cycle, they are going to be my "Go-To" shop in the future! read more

I drove from Stoughton to Attleboro based on the reviews that my son read. He was looking for a Mongoose bike but he found a bike by Sunday and after he took it for a test ride in the parking lot at Union Cycle it was a perfect fit. The bike looks great and rides nice. We got to the shop 15 minutes before they closed last night and a big thanks to Norman, the guy that helped my son find a bike that would be the perfect size for him. Norman is a knowledgeable salesman and we would both recommend going to Union Cycle for all of your bike needs. It is a small shop but full of bikes and parts. My first 2 experiences with Union cycles wasn't in the shop it was at races. It wasn't service I paid for - it was just service to your fellow man just for being another human being. I showed up to a race in Feb 2016 and my gloves weren't thick enough to handle the cold. I was getting near frost bite and almost pulled out of the race before the start. Even though at the time I was riding for a rival shop, their bike technician out of the kindest of his heart gave me a liner for my gloves and not only did my hands finally warm up, I finished the race & won. Without their kindness I wouldn't have accomplished my goal. My next encounter was at my first race with the team. I was severely injured in the race and taken into the EMT tent for immediate medical attention. The owner of the shop Rick took one look at me, personally gloved up, said "this is gonna hurt" & started cleaning out my dirt filled bloody wounds all over my torso & arms. He didn't have to do this. Most shop owners don't do this, in fact 5 years racing - I have NEVER seen this. I sold was on the shop from that moment on. The technician or the owner in those experiences didn't care if you were buying equipment, nor was it about money. It was about the human to human connection we all share and should care about. I was sold on the shop from that moment on & zipped up a uniform as a team member for them. Proud to wear it for what it stands for & what the shop stands for. I worked for the military for 8 years, a uniform means something to me - it stands for something. They walk that walk & talk their talk. Now - 4 months later - bike repairs, I'm damn well impressed by the thoroughness & quality. I haven't had my equipment run this smooth ever. I've gone to Union Cycle for service on my bike and they are great to work with. Last time my bike really didn't need any major service and they were up front with me, tweaked and tightened a few things and charged a small fee. The only reason I am writing this review is because I've never seen a bad review from this bike shop until today. I was pissed! Really? A bad review? These people must of been absolutely miserable from the get the go! Well anyway, here are my experiences from this bike shop. If your a bike nut like myself and have a passion for bikes old and new, these are the guys you want working on your bikes! It's a small low key shop with great knowledgable service! The head mechanic Ron is a great guy and is actually a WORLD CLASS bike mechanic! The owner Rick is there everyday running his business! The shop has bikes for everyone and trust me, they won't sell you a bike just to sell a bike and and throw you out the door! They actually care that you get the bike you want at what you can afford and you will never get pressured! I've been going to this shop for 8 or 9 years and bought many bikes from these guys. These guys have always been good to me and I never once had a problem with any of my bikes, plus they are good people and good people should be recognized! I've been a customer here for many years, mainly because Union is the closest shop to my home, but the service lately has been horrible. I recently needed a bottom bracket removed from a frame. The crank was already removed, I just didn't have the proper BB tool for the job. It would literally take 1 minute to do this job with the proper tool. Before I left for the shop I called ahead just to make sure they could pop it out while I waited. A simple "No" was the response. So I asked what the turn around time would be. Answer: "two days." I need to leave my bike sitting around the shop for two days to have a BB removed?! An enormous sign on the front of the store reads: "All normal repairs completed in 24 hours" Hell, I would have paid them to borrow their tool and do it myself in the parking lot. Anyway, I drove a little further down the road to a different shop, and the mechanic stopped what he was doing and helped me right away. He wasn't even going to charge me, but I forced him to accept a tip. Another time I paid an absurd amount of money to have a set of hydraulic brakes bled. When I got them back they felt horrible (even worse than before the bleed) and remained that way after several rides. I brought them to a different shop to have them redone, paid 2/3 the price, and they felt terrific. I will not be returning the Union again. The rude staff, poor service, absurd prices, and complete lack of customer loyalty (I bought a complete bike from them) are not worth the hassle. I will gladly drive a bit further to Sirois in N. Attleboro or Bicycles Plus in Franklin to receive quality service and products at fair prices. read more

I try to serve local business so I bought 2 bikes here 2 years ago. One needed service so I brought it back to them. They could not give me a cost estimate (never called with one either as requested), did not have the part for the bike (which they still sell the same model of) and then I had to call them to find out it was ready. They then proceeded to charge me for repairs I asked for but we're not completed. Long story short, I might buy another bike here but they are not getting my repair work ever again. read more

I had a race on Saturday and I ended up with a flat on Thursday, I got tires from them and they were suppose to replace the tubes as well. Guess what! They did a sloppy job of changing the tires not the tubes and when I picked up my bike everywhere was full of greasy finger prints. read more
