The only milk alternative they carry is soy milk, which I'm realizing is typical of Boston and really making me grateful for Southern California. We decided to order a coffee with soy only to find out their minimum card purchase is $10, so we proceed to rack the bill up to $10. After waiting a few minutes, they tell us they're out of soy and ask if we want skim. No. No I don't want the pesticides, antibiotics, GMOs, preservatives, additives, fungicides, feces and pus of baby cow growth hormone that poor cows spend their lives creating as milk machines like some Orwellian nightmare. Anyways, we cancel our order, but they gave us cash back instead of reversing our charge so my husband ordered just a black coffee instead. He said the coffee was alright. read more

Stopped in today for an iced coffee and a breakfast sandwich and I was pretty impressed. The amount of coffee flavors they have is ridiculous! The most important thing is that they do not use flavored syrups, the coffee itself is actually flavored. I got a small Nutty Irishman iced coffee and a ham and egg breakfast sandwich. The coffee was awesome (and it was a good size too). The sandwich was good, but my only complaint is that the English muffin was a little burnt. It wasn't bad but I would like to see it toasted about 30-45 seconds less next time. I would definitely recommend this to any coffee enthusiast. read more

Blown away by what most would consider a hole in the wall coffee shop if you drove by. They have a wide variety of sweet flavored coffees that are high in calories and and also in flavor. I went with the Nutty Bar and it was delicious, I think it was a peanut butter and chocolate flavor. Service, even with the long lines is pretty efficient. read more

You've got to love any coffee place that serves you iced coffee in something called a "Bucket". Shows they have their priorities straight. PS has about a billion different iced coffee flavors, and all the flavoring is roasted into the beans themselves and not some icky syrup. Somehow they manage to do some sort of magical coffee science to come up with flavors that taste remarkably like the things they're named after, like the Nutty Bar and Caramel Delight. The first time I tried the latter I was like "HOLY CRAP MY COFFEE TASTES EXACTLY LIKE A GIRL SCOUT COOKIE. WHAT KIND OF BLACK MAGIC IS THIS?" There are many coffee spots in Southie that are closer to my apartment, but I have soldiered through many a Saturday morning hangover to get to a Bucket. (I have also been known to order two coffees and pretend the other one is for someone else, when they're really both for me. I have a problem.) read more

Spring has just begun. After a jog at Castle Island, I drove up and parked outside PS. Although they do not have any parking lots available, there are many spots available on the street. Once inside, we waited in line (it was pretty long) where the menu was posted on multiple boards. I ordered an Almond Joy Iced Mocha for less than $3. In under a minute, the drink was already done. The drink itself was amazing, something very sweet, but cooling. Too much ice though. Overall, it was a great experience. Sadly, they do not accept credit card, but it is a great place to get a good iced coffee after a run around the neighborhood. read more

I don't drink coffee but all of my friends love the "buckets" and they have a long list of flavors that sounds enticing even to a coffee hater. This isn't really a sit down place (there are a few tables and it's freezing in the winter), but is the perfect spot to grab a non-microwaved, real egg breakfast sandwich on the go. If you don't recognize the PS yellow cup, then you probably haven't spent much time in Southie. This place is crazy popular. Pretty much guaranteed to run into at least 1-3 people that you know while extremely hungover around 10am on a Saturday/Sunday, or while rushing to work while double parked at 7:45am on a weekday. I generally stick to the coffee, which tastes more like a dessert than anything else. Wanting dessert-like, delicious coffee with not too much actual coffee? - PS Special, Nutty Bar, Pumpkin Patch. YES! Actual coffee with a caffeine boost and no added mocha/whipped cream etc? - Cinnamon Hazelnut Love PS! Semi expensive and cash only though. I have slept over in Southie just to have an excuse to get PS Gourmet in the morning I have made eyes at people of all variations with PS Gourmet outside of Southie I have bribed Southie friends to bring me PS Gourmet I have turned down mimosas for PS Gourmet I have mixed a lot of booze with PS Gourmet since I was nixing the mimosas But seriously people, this is some good iced coffee. I recommend the sweeter flavors even though that isn't normally my thAng. PS I Love You is a favorite of mine; it's like a caffeinated hug. They aren't flavored with gross syrups; the love is roasted in. Mmmmmm... love. So why 4 stars? I had hot coffee from there once mid-blizzard and it was in no way, shape or form delicious. HAVE CASH READY IN HAND. Heard great things about this place mainly via people posting pics of their coffee cups on instagram. And for some odd reason, the logo makes me think chinese food rather than coffee lol. Was sorta kinda in the neighborhood and decided to get some for the bf and I. Let me state that if you've found parking on that street than you're a lucky one because it was impossible and double parking was even taken! He waited in the car while I ran across the street. The wait was not bad at all but I went on a Sunday afternoon, I've seen reviews mention that it's out the doors on the weekends so keep that in mind. The menu can be a bit ridonkulous!!! I mean how many flavors can you come up plus specials of the day as well. They've separated their coffees into mocha based and non-mocha based. Bf got the nutty irishman which has an irish cream base along with cream/sugar and a hint of cinnamon if I remember correctly. For me, I did the PS Special since it was my frist time. The coffee was great! I mean I usually like black/sugar coffee but indulge in sweet coffee once in a while. A lot of flavor going on with the PS Special: cream, sugar, cinnamon and like 3 other flavors that the cashier named but I didnt register. Their coffees are really sweet so make sure you mention that you'd like it dark or sweet. Prices are great because it was $2.50 for basically a medium size coffee thats comparable to Dunkins. I lived across the street from PS Coffee for 2 years and went on a daily basis, it was a slight addiction. Not sure I would have gone as frequently if it wasn't so darn convenient and it would lure me in every time I looked out my window. Pros: -huge selection of flavors -fast service -the bucket size is as big as your head (perfect for a coffee fiend like myself) -will open right on schedule during a blizzard- nothing seems to stop these guys -cheap Cons: -the staff here does not want to be bothered with you so you better be ready to go with your order when you get up to the counter or they will literally call on the person behind you -cash only (such a hassle if you never use cash like myself and despise cash only when its 2015), there is an ATM inside but its a bit sketchy looking -flavors are hit or miss (some are super watery and lack flavor) -lines can get crazy long on the weekends -flavors are not self explanatory at all and its kind of hilarious how similarly they are named (became a joke of sorts between my friends) but don't make the mistake of asking the staff what the difference between pumpkin pie, pumpkin patch and jack o lantern is because you will get a huge groan Overall this place is pretty great but because of the cash only situation, the sometimes inconsistent flavors, and the cold demeanor of the staff its a solid 3 stars for me. read more

I absolutely love their coffee. All the flavors that I've tried are amazing so far ( banana hazelnut, cinnamon, and Twix). I brought it to work for my coworkers to try and they love as well. I rarely get coffee, but sometimes it's just one of those days. When it is one of those day, PS is my go to. They have so many flavors and coffee alternatives! Their breakfast sandwiches are pretty solid as well, and you can call them in ahead of time. I've had various muffins from here as well which were tasty. A local coffee shop with lots of options - Brown Sugar, Snickerdoodle, Chocolate Caramel Kiss, etc. - served both iced and hot. The large isn't that large, but it is nice to have a legitimate flavored coffee rather than added syrup. The girl working had a serious case of stink-eye, but hey, at least she wasn't decked out in hot pink within a creepishly-matching hot pink store. While Gourmet Coffee is leagues away from Donut Man, I need to be fair; it's still the perfect place to grab your morning fix, with a different flavor for every day. read more

Diabetes in a cup. the mocha iced concoctions are delicious, and probably far too sugary, but too delicious to pass up. Friendly staff. i recommend the special, nuttybar, and mint patty. They do have seating and wifi, but this isn't really a sit down place. you dont want to sit here for an hour or two chatting or surfing the web. There isn't a lot I like about Southie but lately I have been finding little coffee shops which I love! PS Gourmet is no exception. With about a 100 flavors it's hard to choose from. I've gone with toasted nut and french vanilla, both I thought were delicious! At times there is too much ice but I'm sure that can be resolved with a simple request at the counter. I did try their sausage, egg, and cheese on a croissant and that was scrumptious. I have limited time left in Southie but I will try to make it here as often as I can. "Home of the Bucket!" Hence, the reason I love PS. My friend got me hooked years ago and everytime I visit her in Southie or stay at friends' places in the area, I've got to get my bucket fix. Favorites are the iced mocha caramels & milkeyway. My friends like the snickerdoodle, tiramasu and girl scout cookie, I think it is? The barrista girls are nice, definitely know what they're doing and on top of things. The parking situation is never easy since PS practically sits on the corner of Broadway, which can get very busy. "Cash only" is kind-of a bummer since I rarely have any on me, but the little atm inside is good for that problem. read more

It tastes like dessert, but sometimes, on those bad Monday mornings, thats the exact pick me up I need. The line is long, but when you buy 8 all at once, they are really nice! I was allowed to cut the line and pick up my order- I felt like a true Southie local. It is cash only- which for me, the girl who never carries cash, could pose an issue, but it's definitly worth it to plan ahead. I've been going here for years and can honestly say they have the best selection of coffee flavors. When the coffee is good, it's the best coffee around. However, lately the quality has been sacrificed.... The last few months every coffee I got has been watery. My guess is their great reputation means they can water down the coffee, save money, and still make a killing. Or maybe it's unknowingly being made that way-who knows. Just a note that the mochas are already somewhat sweet so I caution you if you add sugar as well. Great coffee, friendly staff, but they only take cash unless you want to spend so much you're leaving with an armful of candy bars and gallons of milk to meet the minimum spending requirements for a card. Would come here every day if I didn't have to make a weekly trip to the bank to withdraw a fistful if dollar bills solely for this place. Very disappointed in PS Gourmet Coffee. I went there today. I was told they don't accept Debit Cards with purchases under $10:00. I explained to them I had no idea this was your policy. I promised them if they just let me do it this time I would be sure to have Cash on hand next time.
