Stopped in for a quick pick me up coffee after brunch and got a cinnamon swirl hot coffee. Service was nice and fast, but the drink didn't taste like cinnamon swirl at all. My friend's iced coffee tasted watered down, and since it was iced, all the sugar just sank to the bottom. The place was quiet and there is no indoor seating, so it's a quick stop, in and out. Going out on my morning walks, this coffee shop really hits the spot. Literally steps away from Broadway and right off Dorchester Avenue. Many young college and professional people in the area, and Broadway is party town after hours. As with anything in Boston, parking can be an issue but usually in the morning you can find a spot right up front, Dog friendly, although many people will watch your dog for you out front if they are around. The coffee selection is HUGE, I had the Nutella Mocha Iced. I enjoy mine light and sweet so this was a perfect match. WOW! I'll be honest it's really unassuming when you walk in but the iced coffee was incredible and the coffee cake was super yummy. We also got the egg and cheese sandwiches on English muffins with sausage, they were so good! Not crazy greasy like most other places. The sausage was bomb, perfect amount of cheese. They sell tasty flavored coffee. First thing you need to know is that the flavored coffees are not sweetened. It's just like how hazelnut coffee tastes like hazelnut but is not sweet, except with many many more options. If you order one of the Mochas, it has chocolate sauce added to it which does add sweetness. So, if you're looking for chocolatey and a bit sweet, get a flavored mocha (banana cream pie is amazing). You can also get just a flavored coffee, and have cream and sugar added to it as you normally would. This was a surprise for me, because the names of the drinks sound incredibly sweet. Once you understand the menu, go crazy! I highly recommend the banana cream pie mocha, as I mentioned above, but there are so many options that I'd like to go back and try. The atmosphere here is a bit hole in the wall, no frills. Cash only unless you spend $10+. They also sell bagel sandwiches and lots of candies and some refrigerated drinks. read more

Second time at PS and it did not disappoint! I was overwhelmed by the number of options of flavors and did not know what to try since my taste in coffee varies. I asked the cashier and the workers were all very helpful in finding a drink I would like. They recommended the cinnamon toast crunch mocha if I liked sweet and it definitely was worth it! It was definitely cinnamon toast crunch but there was still that mocha coffee flavor. Definitely worth it and highly recommend. I tried my friends nutella who got extra pumps, however, surprisingly it wasn't that sweet and had a barley tea type of taste. Not what I was expecting and not my choice since I like sweet coffee. I definitely want to try other flavors and hopefully they can recommend me something sweet and better next time! read more

This is the first time I could not even drink coffee I've ordered. It was burnt, had way too much creamer in it and was extremely bitter. The name of this place is misleading. This coffee is very poor quality. The place inside is not aesthetically pleasing at all. Their bucket sized mochas are such a Southie staple. If you're someone who likes sweet coffees, you're going to love their drinks here! You can order online for pick up, and when you order is ready, they place it on this table inside in alphabetical order. So when you get to the store you can go in, pick up your coffee, and leave. But I believe you are able to order inside as well. They have a MASSIVE menu of coffee flavors. One thing I wish is for them to have some kind of description of what some of the flavors are. If it's your first time trying, I'd recommend the P.S. Special - regular (cream&sugar). That's the first coffee that got me hooked to this place! All the other flavors I've tried are amazing as well. For years I been going to PSG. from SB to Braintree, roslindale and Dorchester. for a few weeks I stop going to the Dorchester area due to the coffee is awful. I visit Boston a couple times a year, and always stay in Southie with family. There was a time when I somehow though Dunkin' was good in some way, but it's pretty bad. But you know what's good? This place! I walked in the first time and knew I'd found the best alternative to corporate coffee n donut hell. This place is obviously local, and the staff are great. They work hard, they work fast, they're friendly, I get to marvel at the sassy take no crap attitude that is largely missing from the West Coast. This place has some really good coffee. I wish it were a bit more inviting on the inside, a place to hang out, but for the coffee itself: 4-stars. When you walk in, you'll notice the counter in front of you, seating behind you, some light food options (bagels, muffins) to your left, and on the wall to the left you'll find lists and lists of coffee flavors, both hot and cold, regular and mocha... This place is a Southie institution. It can be intimidating when you first walk in if you don't know what you're doing (pick from the long list of flavors, step up to the counter, cash only, get off the cell phone, the largest cold coffee size isn't the large- its the bucket) but it can quickly become your go-to morning coffee destination. What this isn't, though, is a place to grab a couch on a Saturday afternoon and spend all day reading or studying. There is an area with a few tables and a counter if you want to sit and eat your sandwich or browse the paper, but its cold, uninviting, and usually completely deserted. PS. I know everyone in the neighborhood does it, but please don't double park in front when running in to grab your coffee... its really annoying for those of us trying to make our way up Dorchester onto Broadway! read more

Always friendly service. Consistent quality in food and service. If you don't like it sweet, get a regular iced coffee. If you like it sweet, get mocha based. All the flavors are yummy, you cant go wrong! Food is also delicious and made to order. The line may be long sometimes but their service is quick and friendly. I didn't want to believe the hype. I couldn't accept the stories of people coming from different areas in Boston to come get the coffee. The bucket seemed like a marketing gimmick. I do have to say, it's a great spot to grab an iced coffee, though, now that I've tried it. They have an endless amount of flavors. The best part, it's not the syrup that flavors the coffee...but the beans that they use. I was very impressed with the coffee and the price. $2.50 for a medium iced coffee and it tasted great. I was picturing a sugary mix of syrup with plain coffee but I was completely wrong. I don't think I'd make a pilgrimage to get the coffee, but I can see how it might be part of someones weekend routine.
