05/10/2026 Yes, I enjoyed their delicious food. That's why I chose to celebrate another Mother's Day here.We ordered: -Steak with fried rice ($20.95): Tender and delicious. -Beef with grape leaves ($20.95): Fulfilling. -Chicken vermicelli bowl ($14.95): The chicken was dry. -Egg rolls (4 pcs for $9.95): At $2.50 per roll, there was hardly any meat--just the rice paper wrap. This was disappointing. Service: The service was okay. However, the staff members were too distracted and busy to focus on the customers they were helping.
This is the spot for solid Vietnamese food. The cá nướng (baked catfish rolls) are one of my favorite things here -- perfectly seasoned and baked just right. It does take some time to prep so I would call the restaurant when you're en-route so it'll be ready once you're seated. The chicken wings are also yummy, crispy with great flavor, and always hit the spot! Their garlic butter baby back ribs are another standout I enjoy, the seasoning is msg-loaded. It can be eaten alone or with rice. While their pho isn't the absolute best, it's still good for a place that doesn't even specialize in pho, and it's comforting and satisfying when you're in the mood. The restaurant itself is clean and there's plenty of parking, which is always a huge plus in this area. If you're looking for reliable Vietnamese flavors and some standout dishes, this is where you need to be.
Pho had good broth and well assortments of different types of pho. Got the each rib on the side and I'd say worth the order. Their combo is also good, everything in it is well cooked Good service quick with orders and gave good recommendations Pretty big open seating, they do prefer reservations so plan ahead but when we went many tables open Beef with fried rice is good 9/10 and rice was good. Really stood out with the hot plate and they don't just rip the plate super hot where is splashes and burns you. Hate places that do that. Perfect temp to roast the onions on the plate with the beef, well seasoned and not too much sauce on it Any pho and their beef highly recommend, they probably have bomb vermicelli will need to try next time
I frequent this restaurant because the pho is so delicious and fragrant. Also, the garlic butter wings as an appetizer for a large group always hit the spot! I usually come on the weekends, and as a popular spot, it tends to be busy. But I'm usually still able to get a table within 10 minutes or so, and their service is really fast! (Sometimes too fast - if you take too long to order, the server might leave while you're thinking to help someone else because they are BUSY! haha) But the restaurant is clean, nice to sit at, and has good food, so overall one of my fave pho places in San Diego.
My family and I came here for New Year's dinner and got the fried chicken, baby pork ribs, broken rice, bun rieu, and the large cat fish. The food and quality were great. Especially the fried chicken wings and baby pork ribs. The large catfish takes a while to make and the price is market price. The size also depends on what they have available! The large catfish came out to be around $94 which is kind of pricey and definitely a splurge. Service was alright! Not bad and not great but did the job.
When you want Pho, you want Pho! Came across this location while in the neighborhood. When we got there it wasn't busy but it started to get very busy as it got dark. The food was delicious the broth was amazing. Also had the egg rolls that were also very tasty. I do recommend trying this place if you've never been. It has a large dining area to accommodate large groups. And the people who work here were so helpful. I'll be back for sure.
Didnt know that this is a sister restaurant to Phuong Trang! Once i found out, it didnt surprise me that that's why the food was good! Our table ordered the following: Garlic butter ribs Calamari Wings Beef stew with egg noodle Oxtail pho Rib bone pho Everyone was quiet eating. A good indication of how yummy the food was. I enjoyed the ribs. A hint of sweetness in each bite. It tasted so good with rice. The service and staff here are so nice. It seems like a popular spot since we came on a Tuesday night and it was steadily busy. Parking is free. would definitely come back again!
I can during lunch hour and service was far. Friendly staff and clean atmosphere. I had their shrimp salad and it was so good!
Came to try their Butter garlic chicken wings that I've heard so much about from multiple people. They were crispy and similar to salt and pepper wings at a Chinese restaurant but with a buttery flavor to them. You know what they say, butter makes everything better. Make sure you get the fried bits on top of each wing it's just extra flavor that you don't want to miss out on. We also got the tenderloin with fried rice. The tenderloin came on a sizzling platter and was very tender and tasty. It came with a separate plate of fried rice and salad. The fried rice was ok; not super tasty but better than just plain white rice. The salad was just lettuce and tomatoes but there wasn't a dressing. I ate some with the flavorful beef which was fine but we didn't finish the salad. The kung pao fish was ok, the fish pieces were deep fried and tossed with sauce, veggies and peanuts. The fish was tender but had a stronger fish taste. If I had to guess I think it was sawai. It went well over the fried rice and salad. Service was friendly and attentive, waters were refilled multiple times. The dining room is large and there's a lot of 4 top tables. They are located in the same strip mall as Katsu cafe, Lolita's, Curry club and Yuk de jang so there's a large parking lot. PT Eatery is a second location of Phung Trang, so they have some of the same menu items. I don't think the butter garlic chicken wings are Vietnamese cuisine but they are good! I'd recommend the chicken wings and Tenderloin with fried rice.
I was so indecisive what I wanted for lunch- closer to Kaiser- the better. It was a todd up between Bahn Mi or pho. I was dead set on a sandwich and saw the menu used the work "house special spread". I thought it was code for "pâté. Because pâté's THE ONLY reason why I want a sandwich! When the waitress asked for my order, I casually order the char grilled pork WITH extra pâté... and that's when my lunch craving got shut down. (Waaaahh!) She informed me they don't use that on their sandwiches and told me it's butter, instead. I decided on a small rare steak & tendon pho with shrimp added to my order. Now, when I say small- it's a great sized small bowl. First glance it looks like- there's hardly anything in it. But, it's packed! No shortage on vermicelli noodles. And with my additional shrimp topping- my ingredients weren't making a mess as I enjoyed each scoop of broth, slivers of steak & plump shrimp. Tails are removed from shrimp- one less thing to fiddle with. It's spacious inside. Plenty of booths, tables in the center of restaurant and some 2 tops. The six piece garlic butter wings were a plus. Not greasy and heavy. Breading was fine, golden, light, very crispy. Tastes like they're sprinkled with MSG (no complaints). I arrived at 11am and the lunch crowds were trickling in. Plenty of parking during this time in their shopping plaza. You can enter eastbound on Clairemont Mesa Blvd or Ruffner Road.
We came here for dinner over the weekend. For appetizers, the Garlic Butter wings were super good! Very similar to salt and pepper wings but without so much salt. The Pho French Dip was a spin on a Bahn Mi and a French dip sandwich. I loved this and would definitely order again. The Pho was also very good, we liked the broth. For dessert, we all shared the 3 colored dessert. This was so good!! It was a mix of sweet cream, red bean and jelly.
Great alternative place to Phuong Trang. Smaller menu, but PT Eatery seems to have the "top" dishes from Phuong Trang. They have Banh Mi here (fyi). We love the food here. We came on a Saturday for lunch. Got seating quickly (restaurant about half full). Broken rice dish was great. Lots of food in one entree. My wife had their vermicelli noodle bowl (exactly the same as Phuong Trang). It's great too. One of my go-to dishes. Ube coffee drink was surprisingly delicious. One of the only ube drinks I've ever had that actually had ube flavor (nutty, coconut-y). Yummy. Service was great. Staff consistently came to check on us. Lots of tables here. But I didn't see those large round tables. For bigger groups, they combine the smaller square tables together. For check, just go to register and pay. Note: They charge an automatic 18% for parties 5 or more. We'll come here again. See you next time yummy food.
Great portions, freshly made. Nothing is mass ordered frozen like many of the other Asian joints in the area. Grab yourself a coffee while you're at it. They make it fresh to order. They crush it with your usual viet joint dishes such as com tam or bun thit nuong. Oh and the wings. The only two places I'd order wings from at as Asian spot in town is PT Eatery and Phuong Trang. Show up hungry and eat away! Better to come as a group so you can order numerous things and share!
If you love pho but want to venture out and try something new that not too many places offer, then I recommend trying this place out. I really enjoyed the Pho French Dip that my friend recommended. This Vietnamese style French dip is much tastier, complex and overall better than its original counterpart. The brisket on this sandwich was DELICIOUS - tender, juicy, and savory. They packed a hearty amount of meat in the banh mi which is always a plus. They used cooked beansprouts in place of the noodles traditionally found in pho which I found clever - I do think they put too many but that is a personal preference. The pickled onions and cilantro really sealed that pho taste after dipping it in the pho consume provided. The broth was piping hot, and the baguette quickly absorbed all of the tastiness of the broth while still remaining crispy. It is difficult to evaluate the broth itself without any other toppings, but I would give the broth a good rating - it didn't blow me away but it didn't disappoint. The portion was fair for the price, and I was surely satisfied after eating ($17ish after tip). The service was good. The ambiance was spacious and clean which is the best I could ask for from a Convoy area spot. There is plenty of parking which is excellent for this area. 4.5 rounded up to a 5. I'm looking forward to exploring more of the menu. They're off to a great start with my initial experience! read more
For two people, there wasn't a wait when we got there at around 12 PM on a Saturday. The inside of the restaurant was classy. I recommend getting a large if you're hungry. We came in on Monday evening in 2024... the food was good. We got the house special and a chicken pho bowl. The chicken pho was a bit dry, but my BF approved of the special. The wings were crispy and delicious! The place was clean and the food came out quickly. When you're ready to pay you take your check up to the front. read more
My family and I came here last night because I wanted to eat roasted catfish. Not a lot of Vietnamese restaurants offer this dish... Not that I know of anyways. Anywho I recommend that you call at least an hour ahead if you'll be ordering this because it can take while. The restaurant was extremely busy and even though I had called earlier - it still took about 20 to 30 minutes for the fish to come out. The fish was massive, but super good! My mom is a very picky eater sometimes... But she really liked their catfish because they did a really good job to get it super crispy, which she loved. I would definitely recommend this dish because it's super good and can probably feed up to five people. The catfish was super juicy, but the skin was crispy and just so delicious. The price is not on the menu because it depends on the market price but it cost us about $102 after tax. Definitely a great dish for maybe a celebration or birthday for sure. read more

One of my favorite places to take people for Vietnamese food when they're in town. I'm a long time visitor of their OG restaurant, Phương Trang. I love the location of PT eatery A LOT better though. Closer to the freeway, lots of parking (including Tesla superchargers!), and other nearby food places if you somehow didn't eat enough at PT eatery. I always get the following items that NEVER disappoints: -Roasted Catfish (great for a big group of 6 or so people to share) so so good with the rice paper and all the veggies! I get sad when my husband says NO when there's only the two of us. Pro tip, it takes a bit to cook, so call it in about 30 mins prior so you can have it ready for your table. -Butter chicken wings. These can't be healthy for me but they are so flippin' good!!!! The wings are so crunchy with a little sweetness to them -Shrimp papaya salad (Goi Tom) - such a great helping with great flavors in a salad. I love the crispy Shrimp chips that give it a great crunch. Everything I've ordered here has always been great Vietnamese food. It's not fancy but still a great place to take people with great food! read more
Food (4/5): I've ordered a variety of items from PT Eatery, including their wings (which I highly recommend), their sandwiches, pho, bowls, and more. I've never once had a complaint about the food. It is reliable and comes in satisfying portions. Service (3/5): It's really nothing noteworthy or fantastic, but it's also something I've never had a problem with. Ambiance (5/5): Hear me out on this one. The decor is nothing fancy and probably not deserving of a 5/5, but the sheer size of the restaurant makes it possible for me to come with a big party (of 8+), which is pretty uncommon on Convoy. I appreciate their willingness to accommodate larger groups. Drinks (4/5): Refreshing drinks, and a semi-wide variety to choose from. I like their thai tea quite a bit, but it's hard to get a drink here every time since there are a lot of epic boba spots nearby. read more

Amazing place for a delicious Vietnamese meal!! We saw this place multiple times and finally got to try it because we had to charge our car in that parking lot. This place is surprisingly delicious. I had something I never had before, it is coconut milk rice noodles. Wow! It is tooooooo good to describe. I just suggest everyone to try it out if you like coconut. My husband had a big bone pho with adding noodles. The bone looked spectacular, and it carried a lot of meat on it. I highly recommend this place! read more
Other than this place always taking a long time to seat the guests the food is amazing! Been here 2x and when arriving have to stand there for a while until someone acknowledges my presence. Same with the groups that came behind me just standing there. Once seated the ordering process is quick and food comes out in a timely manner. Their Pho is equally as good as my favorite place Pho Hoa on El Cajon blvd. Their broth isn't greasy, it has an awesome flavor which I can identify all of the individual ingredients and ample portions of beef. Their bun rieu was delicious, the chicken and BBQ pork meatball rolls were also delicious. But their Pho stands out and that Fred Flintstone's Brontosaurus sized rib (knuckle) is amazing! Located in the same plaza as Lolita, across the street from 99 ranch. Parking isn't too bad. I've heard mix reviews here from friends. No condiments on the tables, you have to ask for what you want: i.e. chili paste, chili oil, fish sauce, etc. This place is definitely a lot more newer and modern, even has young Americanized Asians taking orders and serving us. They do not serve the exact same foods as the original Phuong Trang on convoy and seem to run out of certain things towards the end of the night. We usually get the sweet & sour fish soup but they don't have that here. The 7 course beef isn't a package on the menu, but each beef can be ordered and sold separately. They still have their whole fried fish which is nice on certain occasions. Love the, make your own fried fish springs rolls and 7 course beef. We tried the vermicelli noodles, bun rieu, broken rice, and half fried chicken w/ fried rice. All the different types of meat we got was very well seasoned and very good tasting! The grilled pork Pattie's that came with the broken rice and vermicelli was were delicious. Service was a bit slow. Our waters were never refilled. Some other not so good things was the broken rice was over cooked (smooshy), bun rieu soup was bland, vermicelli noodles felt like they just came out of the fridge. Other than that, restaurant is decent. I definitely prefer the original Phuong Trang though, but this one opens later. read more

Came here with a large group. They were very accommodating. Service was fantastic when we visited. Since we had such a large group, we got to try a bunch of dishes. Everything was pretty solid and tasty. Here were the memorable dishes that stood out for me. Garlic Chicken Wings: Excellent starter! Nice crispiness. Very moist. Great flavor. I could eat this as a main dish and be happy. Short Rib Pho: Pho begins with the broth and theirs is amazing. Great flavor. Piping hot. I got the rare steak which is generally my staple but I tried some of the short rib and I have to write home about it. Yes, try it. super tender and great flavor. Wonderful. Pho Bahn Mi: First, their Bahn Mi by itself is excellent. Fresh crispy bread, tender pork, great ratio of veggies. But then... dip it in their amazing pho broth au jus style and BAM! Amazeballs! Sizzling Beef Tenderloin w Fried Rice: Another great dish that tickles all the senses. Looks amazing. Sounds amazing. Smells amazing. Feels amazing? Well definitely tastes delicious. The tenderloin is... tender! It sits on a bed of onions which of course makes everything better. The char is fantastic. Well done! We got a bunch of other stuff like combo bowls and spring rolls and vermicelli plates and everything was just fantastic. I should have taken more pics but I was too busy stuffing my face. I normally don't think of vietnamese food when I head down to SD but I will now. Great spot! read more

Love PT Eatery, this restaurant is owned by the same family as Phuong Trang on Convoy. They have many of the same menu items, but a truncated menu versus the Convoy location. One of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants in San Diego. Very fresh, clean and delicious. This location has ample parking, a couple tables outside. They do get popular on Friday and Saturday nights, with waits up to 30 to 45 minutes. Would suggest weeknights or going at off peak times (non weekends, at opening or early dinner at 5:30 pm). My favorite dishes: - Bun Rieu - nicely seasoned, comes with pork ribs to add more meat. There's a side dish of veggies that come along. If you're low carb, go without noodles and ask them for some extra veggies. - Noodles with Pork and Coconut Milk (Bun Tam Bi) - sounds odd, but an amazing Vietnamese dish that isn't often found in many restaurants. It's basically a vermicelli noodle bowl with meat./veggies and a savory/slightly sweet coconut milk dressing. Dressing comes on the side so you can go ahead and control how much you want. - Anything with their grilled bbq pork (Thit nuong). More so comes in a yummy savory patty! - Grilled Fish - this is super delicious, crispey/crunchy, comes with noodles, rice paper wrapper and veggies. Call ahead or expect to wait a longggg time because these are made fresh to order. - bo la lot (grapeleaf beef meatballs) - this is a key dish from 7 courses of beef. It's essentially a well seasoned beef meatball wrapped in grapeleaf. Served with veggies, and rice paper wrapper. You can eat it solo or wrap it up. - Pho Banh Mi Dip is worth a try. Wouldn't order it to go, you've got to eat it while it's hot in the restaurant. There are some other items on the menu like orange chicken, but likely NOT the star of the show. Nothing is as comforting as a steaming bowl of pho on a gloomy day. During my recent trip to San Diego, my friends and I stopped by PT Eatery for lunch. The restaurant has plenty of tables for large groups. Pho Tai (5/5)- Outstanding and authentic bowl of pho with rare beef. The broth was amazing on its own and was only better with a squeeze of lemon. Plenty of bean sprouts, jalapeño slices, basil, and lemon wedges were provided on the side so you could add as much or as little as you'd like. Garlic Butter Chicken Wings (4/5)- We ordered a batch of spicy wings and regular wings. The spicy wings were better but were only slightly spicy. The wings were crispy, flavorful, and topped with fried garlic. Note: The wings take some time to cook. I was disappointed that that they were out of egg rolls when we were here. Regardless, PT Eatery is a great place to enjoy comforting Vietnamese food. read more
San Diego has a lot of Pho options, so it's only fair to try every place at least once! PT Eatery is a huge location that has an expansive menu of Pho and other Vietnamese delicacies. This time I decided to try something different and get the Pho French Dip, which was a French baguette stuffed with meat, bean sprouts, cilantro, and hoisin sauce accompanied by a small bowl of the steaming Pho broth to dip into. I'd give this a 3.5/5 - it was filling and had a generous portion of meat, but there was too much hoisin which was overpowering the flavor. I think I'll stick with a traditional bowl of Pho instead. The service was no nonsense and the items were delivered pretty quickly. We were in and out of the restaurant in record time! read more
Got directed over here when we tried to go to their sister location, Phuong Trang over on Convoy which is temporarily closed. Food was great however THEY RAN OUT OF EGGROLLS :((( which is why they lose 1 star for that. But the pork meatball roll and extra large combo pho I got were great! We got seated really quick on a busy Sunday lunch. The place was filled too but they move quick and the service was fast and attentive; filled our waters plenty of times! As far as Pho goes this place puts out a nice bowl of traditional, fresh, and flavorful yumminess. With the intent to try something different I chose the Pho Beef dip sandwich. The bread was fresh and on point, the broth hot and flavorful (although, I felt could have been a little saltier), but felt like the sandwich had a bit too many bean sprouts which tended to dominate the flavor palette. The beef, on the other hand was juicy, and the sweet sauce found at the meat level of the sandwich melded well with the broth. A hint of mint added flavor but was overshadowed by the bean sprouts as previously mentioned. I also ordered the spring rolls which, speak about fresh, was the star of the show. Rice paper wrap, fresh and sticky, mint, sprouts, shrimp, and other ingredients worked perfectly together and the peanut sauce just brings it all home. I'll be back, next time for the Pho. read more
The service is what put this place to 4 stars. The pho French dip was just ok. The quality of the meat seemed a little poor but the flavor was there. I probably wouldn't get it again. I'd maybe try the tofu sandwich and ask for the broth and do the dip with the tofu sandwich next time. The vegetarian egg rolls were very good and tasty. Crunchy and delicious. The lemon grass tofu was also very good and tasty. Loved the lemon grass flavor in it. read more

If you come here, definitely try their grilled pork patty broken rice dish! It comes with a steamed pork cake, fried shrimp patty, shredded pork, and a variety of veggies. It's always consistently good every time I have it! The flavor of the grilled pork patty is perfect and all of the additions make it that much more enjoyable! The presentation was nice and the food came quick. I really appreciated that they accepted our rushed reservation of 10 people despite knowing that they had a huge party of 35 coming in moments after us. The restaurant is fairly large, so luckily it wasn't packed when we went. It's pretty isolated from the other restaurants in the plaza, so parking isn't too hard to find! read more
Restaurant has a new name, slightly different menu, but same people. Walking in, the place was very busy but we didn't wait too long to get a table. The water they gave us had a bad taste to it. So, I ordered hot tea. The garlic wings we ordered for appetizer came with our meal instead of before our meal. The wings were very tasty and delicious. Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Pho was very tasty and delicious. I rated 1 less star because everyone else was almost done with their food and my banh mi was yet to be served. I checked with the server a couple of times. Finally, she comes out and told me that they had to start my sandwich over again because they burned the bread. It. Just sounded like a lie because when I finally got my banh mi, the bread was cold. It was not worth the wait. Will I go again? Certainly!! But will not be ordering the banh mi again. read more
PT eatery comes very recommended by a lot of people, so I decided to try it. We had the kung pao trio, the pho, and the egg rolls. I must say the egg rolls exceeded expectations and were a delight, they were very crispy and packed with flavor. The pho was also really good because the broth was seasoned to perfection, and the beef seemed to be good quality. They give you a lot of veggies for the broth and the pho experience was a good one. The kung pao on the other hand wasn't the best as the amount of protein that came with it was very minimal given the price of it, and it wasn't very flavorful. The service was good and the workers were kind. It was a nice atmosphere although the tables were a bit sticky. Overall a good experience especially with the pho. One thing I didn't like was that the hoisin sauces and siracha came in small packets rather than the bottles. However, I would potentially come back here, just for the pho. read more
Sister restaurant to the original Phung Trang. Very good Vietnamese spot in San Diego. The wings never disappoint especially when you ask for extra garlic! Spring rolls and egg rolls are always a 10 but the filet mignon on the hot plate had absolutely zero flavor. It's super busy so please be prepared to wait a little. They have THE BEST fried tofu!! It has a thick and super crispy, addictive coating. We've had it many times, since trying it for the first time a couple years ago. Just go with the regular Fried Salted Tofu and don't bother with the Lemongrass or Kung Pao. While they're flavorful, the addition of the sauces makes them not as crispy. The pho is also solid, as well as the wings and fried ribs. Service can be spotty, but I recently read an article in Eater, that Asian places with 3 stars are usually better and more authentic, and the reason they get 3 stars is because people are dissatisfied with the service. I would definitely have to agree with that in the case of the PT Eatery's service. But don't let that deter you! This is the kind of place you want to eat at again and again, even if it does take awhile for your server. read more

PT Eatery made me a great order of Bun with BBQ Chicken and a Couple Egg Rolls served over rice vermicelli and greens. The chicken was tender and delicious, not to mention that it had great color. The Vietnamese egg rolls were terrific. They were generously filled and quite crispy. The vermicelli was well prepared but it should of been served cooler than it was. I loved that they included a lot of good veggies and crushed peanuts with the meal. The fish sauce was mild and tasty. It was not only good for pouring over the Bun but also for dipping the egg rolls in. The girls at the counter were nice. I liked the way they nicely packed my to go order. read more

No it does not, comes wrapped in rice paper and has the same vegetables as a spring roll
