This pub was great! Nice atmosphere, fair pricing, good service, and tasty food! I love that they give you a $10 coupon for joining their email list, this is the main reason we decided to give this pub a try. To start we had the pretzels with cheese appetizer. So good! I like that it is pretzel balls. They were not dried out at all and tasted very fresh. The cheese was perfect with the pretzels. They have tons of sauces to choose from for their wings. Since most of us were getting wings I asked if they could give us a few sauces to try before we ordered our wings. They were very nice about it and gave us several to try. I ended up with the bourbon sauce. The boneless wings were delicious! My fiancé had the brisket pizza. It was very tasty and you can choose between a few sizes. Someone needs to "86" Pub 56. I wouldn't have normally come here, were it not for the Elite event last week at Abbey Farms in Aurora (it was a real......BARNburner, hah!) We were looking to watch the finale of the crosstown Cubs/Sox game and get a bite to eat, maybe have a beer or three. This place had plenty of TV's and had a decent Yelp rating, so we figured 'eh, what the hell?' 'What the hell?' is right. Once we got seated at a hightop table, I immediately noticed what appeared to be a leaky ceiling (which was actually just renegade moisture coming down from their HVAC system). They had a slip hazard sign out, but that was barely more than a temporary solution. The entire time we were there, this thing was dripping away onto the floor. Along with the dynamic duo of David N and Tina N, I perused the menu and saw that boneless wings were a daily special. Cool, wings are a great share-able item that's perfect for our trio and they had lots of sauces to choose from. That's where the good news ended, though. Our first sauce choice for the boneless wings was chipotle peach glaze, which sounded amazing. Naturally, they were out of it. I don't recall what our 2nd choice was, but they were out of that as well. So we begrudgingly picked our 3rd, 4th, and 5th choices (garlic parmesan, mango habanero, blackberry honey mustard). The garlic parm was weak in flavor, the mango habanero -- typically a very hot sauce -- was weak in heat, and the blackberry honey mustard was the only sauce that was both tasty and unique. What made matters worse was the absolutely LAUGHABLE size of their boneless wings. "Miscellaneous chunks 'o' chicken" is far closer to what was served to us. They were on special for 49¢, which isn't outlandishly priced, but when you consider that these things are normally priced @ 6 for $6, that leaves me shaking my head. Christ, for a buck per boneless wing, they better be some Chernobyl-sized clucker mother f*ckers. Pub 56's boneless wings could've honestly been the smallest I've ever seen, bar none. If that weren't bad enough, each order of 'wings' came on a large, rectangular plate with some sad looking lettuce. This was just poor presentation on the kitchen's part, since all 15 boneless pieces should've been on a single plate (they would've fit with plenty of room to spare). As it was, however, we got 3 separate plates with only 5 pieces on each, leaving tons of empty space. The beer selection was ample and came in suitable glasses; the fried pickles were OK but not life-changing. Our server was perfectly fine, no issues with him. Bread = 2 Circuses = 2.5 I suppose if you hardcore bribed me, I'd come back here. But I definitely wouldn't get the wings, and they better have that leaky duct fixed if I ever return (or so help me god, I will slip and break my ass). Those pygmy-scale boneless wings are just bonkers. Has nobody in charge here ever seen a Levitra commercial? Get with the picture, guys. Size matters. read more

After several attempts to get the bill, the manager, in a very rude manner and without good service, asked the waitress to give us the account for what we had consumed. This place seems to be a good hag out spot but the food was a bit eh. Staff was very friendly which I appreciated. I got the white night drink which was actually very tasty but not very strong. The wings (Korean and Parmesan garlic) were mediocre but def the Korean was better. The Mac n cheese tasted good but could be saucier. Plenty of tvs so prob a good place to watch a game. read more

Food was good but wow, $12 for 4 Very small potato skins. They don't give you much food, so don't come too hungry like we did. $52 for 3 appetizers, a soft drink and one alcohol drink. Even these days I leave a $52 lunch full, but now I need to go and find something else to eat. Atmosphere is nice, food tasted good so that's a bonus. Fast service. Not a bad place. My soon to be wife and I literally just signed our lease to live less than a mile from here and decided to check this place out as our first visit in the area. The location is easy to find with a big sign on top of the building. Walking in the doors, you are met with another set which is whited our. Guess that is nice and different to keep the sunlight out. We walked in and were greeted right away. The floor space is very open with plenty of seating areas. Plus the tables are spaced out with maybe some areas close to each other. It looks like a nice sports bar with plenty of TVs. Sitting down, we pull up the menu and there is a good amount of selections to pick from. Plus they have different daily specials depending on what day it is. To get things started, we got the beer battered cheese curds. They arrived very quickly. Fresh, even coated with a side of Chipotle Ranch which was not spicy at all. Mind be s little bland. Overall, still decent I decided to get a Full Slab of ribs. Might as well since I just moved in with an empty fridge and none of my furnitures. The ribs were very tender. Seasoned adequately but only topped with some BBQ sauce. I like my ribs to be coated and grilled again to get some caramelized but they don't do it that was here. Just sauced and forgotten. It comes with a slice of bread, fries and cokeslaw. The fries tasted fresh, a little bland.. nothing special and easily forgotten. The coleslaw is vinegar based which I was sad since I like Mayo based but I can't deduct for that reason alone My only real complaint was my server. While she was attentive and did check it... at times it felt like we were forgotten. Then it took forever for the check to be gotten so we had to ask the bus boy for it. In the end, this place is a good hang out with decent food. It is especially nice if you want to see a game and want to avoid some of those other chains out there. Today we placed an order on Uber eats BEFORE they opened(by about 30 mins)..they open at 12.. got our order at 12:15. Came in on a Sunday afternoon after shopping at the outlet mall and wanting to watch some football and get out of the rain. Within walking in should of known it was was just going to be an okay experience. There was a strong moldy smell next to the door that was coming from the carpet and it carried throughout the restaurant. My surprise was the 2 hostess was standing right there and guess they are use to the smell. Tried to given the benefit of the doubt and ordered some food. Everything went down hill. The Brussel sprouts seemed like they were microwaved steamed and tossed in a lot of different sauces to cover them. Ordered a patty melt and chipotle chicken sandwich. Both super dry and the chicken sandwich had no flavor or sauce. Had to ask for some ranch just to give it a taste. This should of been another warning sign when I noticed no one else was eating food but just drinking. We ate our food as fast as we could because the moldy smell was giving me such a headache. I told the two girls at the hostess stand about the smell and they looked at me like I was speaking another language and said they will have to tell their manager. You work at a place and represent it, not everything has to be passed by the manager to make your restaurant smell decent. read more

Absolutely horrible experience! Our waitress was charging 2 doubles per person and then the manager, Ben, came over and said we couldn't get anymore. We were in shock! And then when we saw the bill and tried to explain to him she was charging us 2 doubles per person he refused to talk about and said to leave before he called the cops. Earned the 5 for a few reasons - closet place from the outlet mall -beef veggie soup was truly remarkable, some of the best I have had -awesome beer selection, including small batch IPAs -smoke their own meat, had the ribs and brisket. Ribs were so tender and the brisket was good, just a little dry. -whiskey selection was good -prices good with everyday day specials. For Chicago area, impressed -Service, well service was awesome! Not family friendly!!! We were told we had to leave because I brought food for my 3 year old. She was literally eating a carrot stick when our pizza came out and the woman said we needed to put it away immediately. When I explained that my toddler didn't eat typical kid foods, the worker didn't care and said then we'd just have to leave. We were in shock--who is going to get pissed about a 3 year old having her own snacks!?!--We said we'd take our pizza to go. The icing on the cake was when she brought a styrofoam dinner container for our entire large pizza claiming she couldn't give us a pizza box because it was against the rules. OMG, not a nice evening out at all. We are really disappointed that we will not be welcomed back because we were coming here a lot and live nearby. read more

In from out of town for a quick day trip and picked local eats at random. This place looked extremely nice when we walked in the door. I didn't expect it from the shopping strip exterior. Service was a 2 or 3 but food was a 5. Lunch prices are definitely reasonable. Our service was lacking. We weren't in a huge rush, but we were hoping for prompt service at lunch during a workday. We weren't able to order entrees for quite awhile. Also, I didn't get a chance to get any drink refills as I didn't get checked on after the food was delivered. One of our orders was wrong and the server said she rang it up right. She went and got a quick-fired replacement, but then kind of disappeared until we were done. She did drop off the bill later, but we were left hanging when it came time to pay. One of my co-workers went and found the server to hand her his card and she came back quickly with the receipt. Initial drink orders happened fast, which was good. I'd never had Berghoff's root beer before and it gets a big yes from me! Would always love to see more craft soda options in the future. My brisket melt was really good and the barbecue sauce was just great with it. Would have loved a few more pickles slices (only 3 with it). The bread was awesome. You wouldn't think that would be such a big deal, but you know how sometimes people give you pulled pork or brisket on weak bread? Not a problem here and it was buttered nicely too. A really clean bar or Pub or whatever they want to call themselves this place is in the strip mall serve food and has plenty of beer and seating to watch various sports activities. This however is a nice bar but it is not especially unique and it's pretty generic and I've seen hundreds of bars such as this. Went in for a bite to eat after a funeral. Sat at a table for almost 15 minutes, had servers walk past us multiple times with no one greeting us or anything. We watched people walk in after us and get served before us. Eventually decided to get up and leave and give our money to a place that actually wants our business. They weren't even busy! Decent. There are some goods and bags. First, the food is pretty good. It's bar food. I had the Pub 56 burger, which is very large. Bigger doesn't always make it better. It's a burger topped with pulled pork and onion rings. It's so big you can hardly put it in your mouth. It's overloaded with so many items, it really isn't a burger anymore. I really don't know if I tasted a burger. We also got the fish and chips. It was ok. Not the best fried fish I've had. Slightly lacking flavor. Each entree comes with your choice of fries. They have regular, sweet potato, and curly. We got the sweet potato fries and the curly fries. Bit were pretty good, but the curly fries were not what I expected. They are pretty much normal fries that are slightly twisted. When you think of curly fries most imagine the thin spirals with a Cajun flavor. That's not what these are. Lastly, I was disappointed in something that happened. We each ordered soda water, better known as club soda. If you order water, it comes out of a tap that also releases soda water, and most of the other soft drinks. I have never been charged for club soda, as it's just carbonated water. It may be my misunderstanding, but I assumed it was going to be free. They never said it wasn't. When the bill came we were charged $5 ($2.50 each) for the club soda. I questioned our server because I expected it was going to be free. I even said that I have never been charged by other restaurants for soda water. They would not remove the charge. I won't go back. Not just because of the soda water, but because it's just ok....nothing special about it. read more

We decided to try Pub 56 after reading great reviews in the paper. We started with a sampler platter. We also ordered wings with sweet chili sauce and Kentucky bourbon sauce. The wings were fabulous! The pretzel bites, cauliflower wings and potato skins were great! We then tried the smokes combo dinner. It came out cold. After a new plate arrived, we fell in love with the brisket and ribs. The pulled pork did not have as much flavor. Service was good. We will return, as the food was good and it is local. The $10 off offer on Yelp would not load. read more

Honestly so shocked this place has a 4 star rating..went here last year and was not impressed at all. My significant other was unwell after eating here. We did get some fried items, but it was unusually greasy. The service was fine, nothing to write home about. The interior could definitely use a face lift, the bathroom was gross. I live in the area and decided to support a local businesses. I ordered Tuscan Roast Chicken over a bed of spinach and feta cheese, and substituted garlic mashed potatoes for the rice pilaf. I was expecting a 1/2 roast chicken and got 1 chicken breast cut into strips. The menu does NOT say "Tuscan Roasted Chicken breast", it said just chicken. VERY DISAPPOINTED! This used to be good. However, very mediocre food served to us today. My husband's fries were soggy, not crisp. My honey bourbon glazed chicken breast was obviously bottled sauce-no honey or bourbon flavor. The rice pilaf was, maybe, Uncle Ben's. On our bill, there was a charge for using a credit card. You would think, with the very average food, they would be happy to pay that charge (as I was told they used to), and not make the customer pay even more. The server messed up our order and gave us more than wanted on chicken tenders and when we got receipt it was $200+ for just 24 wings and tenders and then server looked at it for a good minute with food in her mouth talking to us looking confused on why it's so much. She fixed it but when paying the bill she through my credit card to table, left and didn't say anything else. Liked the wings but service was horrible. Pub 56 was pretty good. I came here after work with a few co workers to relax and eat some food while having a few drinks. This was my first time at this place, but my coworkers have come here often. Personally I really enjoyed the ambiance of the bar. It was very open so I didn't feel cramped even though there were a lot of people there on a Friday evening. Also, there was plenty of room for sitting or standing depending on what you were there for. Unfortunately when we went, our job had just served us a huge luncheon so I wasn't very hungry. I steered clear of the heavier bar food, such as the nachos and opted for a lighter entrée. I was pleased they had lighter options for the bar in case you didn't want to leave with your stomach bulging out of your pants. I got the Tuscan grilled chicken. It was light, refreshing, and surprisingly pretty tasty. The texture of the chicken could have been better, but it wasn't unpleasant. Also, they had a nice selection of holiday themed drinks. Overall, they were a little sweet, but not bad. The service didn't feel slow or rushed, but we did have to flag down our waitress whenever we wanted to order another drink or food. The food here is DELICIOUS!! We crave it daily and have gone 3 times in the past week. Friday special: 9.99 fried fish platter is the best fish and chips we have ever had. The fish is such high quality and the batter is mouthwatering. Both the sweet potato and the beer-battered fries are so good. Salads: I've tried the Cobb salad and the spinach and walnut salad. Both were plentiful and satisfying. When a restaurant can do a good salad...you know they care. I've tried the white sangria and for $6 it's a steal! The decor is upscale and actually very cool. We love going to a "pub" and feeling like we are somewhere fancier, with great food/drinks and even better prices. This place is easily one of our new favorites. read more

SIDEWINDER FRIES. GET 'EM. With that out of the way, Pub 56 is a great addition to the nearby bar scene. Their tap list is massive, their drink specials are decent, and they've got a huge menu which among other things includes great seasoned curly fries sort of things called sidewinder fries (which you can upgrade any side to?) and fried pickles. I just wish the atmosphere of this place was a little better. It feels super new, too bright, too clean, and is often filled with sports bros. Hopefully this place sticks around for a few decades so it can turn into the dive bar it feels like it wants to be? Either way, I love supporting new non-chain places, so we've been going here a lot. read more

Wish I could give this place less stars. My coworker ordered fish and chips, got an uncooked fish and sent it back. Was told we would get a discount for the meal...10%. Ummmm that's $1.00 off a meal he did not eat completely due to being under cooked. Asked to speak with the manager. By not continuing to say the same thing over and over and aggressively take a receipt off of a table (that was weird and shocking). Please revisit your companies policies on personal space. As I also was telling your owner before you popped up out of no where and interjected into a conversation that was not for you. Best of luck to you. For me, Pub 56 is a nice midway point between my house in Aurora and my sister's house in Geneva, so we met up there with our parents for dinner on a Wednesday night. When we walked in, I have to admit I thought it smelled like eggs. I assumed it was my pregnancy senses, but my sister smelled it too. The longer we were there it gradually went away though (or I got used to it, who knows). So yeah, pretty weird, but that was really the only bug a boo with my experience. They offer great specials each day of the week, and Wednesday's line up is 1/2 price pizza, $4 you-call-its, and $3 domestic bottles. I'm not drinking these days of course, but my family took advantage of the booze specials and we all indulged in the 1/2 priced pizza. We started with the pan-fried brussel sprouts which were really good! They were tender on the inside, crisp on the outside, sprinkled with bacon and served with ranch. We then got two 16 inch pizzas to share between the four of us. One cheese and onion and one buffalo chicken pizza. I enjoyed both, but probably liked the buffalo chicken one a tad more since I like a good notch of heat. The slices are large triangles with pan crust and a healthy amount of cheese. We all left full and even took home like 5-6 slices of pizza as leftovers. Two large pizzas for only $15.99 total is a pretty sweet deal ladies and gentleman. Pair that with the cheap drinks and you're golden for an affordable night out. Our service was great and I like that they have a variety of seating; bar stools, high tops, large round booths, regular booths, etc. Definitely a place I'll keep in mind as I often am driving down Butterfield on my way to the Geneva area! read more

This was a pleasant surprise for a pub. Very friendly atmosphere so u can enjoy with friends or a family. I went there with a buddy on Friday night around 8 pm and tables were mostly full but we were able to get a seat right away. The staff all wore masks but none of the patrons wore masks. This is around the time when IL was improving with Covid dur to more vaccinations plus people were eating so I expected this. Background music was Top 40 kind of music but not too loud so u can hear and converse without yelling. Pub was clean and looked newer. Our waitress was attentive and kept our drinks refilled. I ordered the brisket sandwich which was very tasty. They have their own smoker and the brisket was in a lightly buttered toast bread...it looked so good and was so yummy I forgot to take a picture for this yelp review but I'll come back! I upgraded to sweet potato fries and it was also very good. It had a cinnamon sugar sweet to it. I did not drink alcohol but my friend said they had a decent collection of beers and he liked his beer but I can't speak to it. Prices weren't bad. Definitely will go back! read more

Found on Yelp!, lived up to its star rating! We tried the poutine (pictured) - made with their beer battered fries, yum! Burgers - Kobe beef on a brioche bun - excellent. And cheesecake egg rolls (pictured). Kelly, our server, was very attentive without being smothering & made the whole experience that much better. The only negative was that the beers were so large (16 oz) that I couldn't finish it. An 8 or 10 Oz option would have been perfect. Overall it was a very positive experience.
