Tallyho is a dimly lit bar with a senior clientele. It's bare bones, as bare bones as it gets. No draft beer, but the bottles are cheap. It's not impossible to go alone and strike up a conversation. Tallyho leaves much to be desired, captions on the TV aren't on, the music is very quiet, and you might find yourself easily bored here. However, sometimes you need calm quiet and boring. Nice neighborhood bar. It's a little dark inside and has great AC so it's a good place to hide out on a hot summer evening. There's also always plenty of parking in the strip mall. My wife and I really like this bar. Prices are good, the drinks are well made and the environment is really old school. Wonderful thing is despite being a dive bar, it is extremely clean which is rare for a dive bar. Lots of parking, next to a great supermarket too. Only negative is they don't take credit cards. The Tally Ho hasn't changed a bit since it opened. Wait, that's not exactly true. Back in the day, the bar was at the other end of the shopping center over by Casella's. Sometime over the years the wooden door that was forbidden to be entered by minors moved to the other side of the center. So 2 years ago, a bunch of people I went to grade school with decided to finally find out what was behind the forbidden wooden door, and we've made it our go-to place to hang out every time I come back to town. It's true, it's strictly cash only, the decor is out of the 60s and 70s, and there is a core of neighborhood folks who hang out there. But that's the charm of a dive bar. The drinks are cheap and strong. There's absolutely zero pretense. The bartender won't take any s--t, but she's working her tail off and makes sure that everyone has what they need. A group us us girls like to gather on Sunday mornings to start Sunday funday off w/ a kick! Last weekend we decided to go to the Tallyho! We knew that it had been around forever and wanted to check it out. We had no idea that it was their 52nd anniversary. (Happy anniversary!) This "classy dive bar" was welcoming and very clean! Jenny was bartending and did a great job. She made us feel right at home even though we felt a little awkward that we would be imposing on their 52nd anniversary party with their regulars, Jenny and the owner were very welcoming! The owner came to our table and introduced herself telling us to please help ourselves to the complimentary food and snacks that had been brought in for the celebration. A good time was had by all! There's plenty of TVs for watching sports and a jukebox that is played at a level where you can still have a decent conversation. Thanks for the great experience! The place was not crowded as it's Sunday. The bartender was 'Kay' also the owner we found out. There were 8 people in the place. We were not loud. Not drunk. Not crazy. My buddy ordered a beer and shot. She would only give him the beer. What the fuck? She gave no reason. She was just plain bitchy. Maybe she has just made to much money for her retirement and should do it. She obviously has hit the age and doesn't give a shit if you come back again... Do a favor for her... It was a typical dive bar, no doubt about it. It wasn't my choice to share libations, but rather the person I was meeting. When I walked it, it looked and smelled like 1979. I don't recall how long it's been since people could smoke in bars but it absolutely reeked of cigarettes from days gone by. I ordered a drink before my companion arrived and was told by the bartender as I waved my debit card at her that there was no tab, cash only. There is an ATM in the bar, fortunately, as I rarely carry cash on me. More memories of 1979 LOL! At one point my companion and I were discussing politics and he told me to keep my voice down so just guessing that the bar is full of Trump supporters. To add to that feeling, there were several men loudly discussing their love for Trump and hatred for women. This place is great! One of my favorite places to hit up after a long day at work, hanging with friends, or a night cap to end date night with the Missus. I love the history. The walls are adorn with caricature drawings of regulars from throughout the years, and the statue of Cyrano on the north side of the bar has it's own wonderful story. Oh the TallyHo! This place is nondescript from the outside with no windows and once inside it is like a time-warp to the 70's. The crowd is varied: I mean everything from lawyers, to college kids, Vietnam vets, to neighborhood regulars, neighborhood locals who NEED a drink, strippers, cougar clubs, retirees, crack and meth heads...really nothing would surprise me here. I have definitely met some interesting people here and that is part of the allure of the TallyHo. I am familiar with 2 of the bartenders and they are nice ladies...maybe a bit rough around the edges, but I think you have to be at a place like this. I was impressed they always seem to remember me though, as I have only been in a few times. Their drink pours are no joke and they are very good at remembering your drink of choice. Also I should note this is a cash bar so come prepared. As Michael C. said the entertainment consists of a pool table and a jukebox. There are also 2 smallish TVs and I myself just enjoy the 'atmosphere'. I have to agree with Alexander- when you walk in to the Tally Ho it's like a time warp - in a warm fuzzy kind of way. My grandparents owned an old tavern and I loved the way it smelled - I think this is one of the reasons I love the Tally Ho. From the outside it looks as though the place is going to be dark and seedy. It's not at all. It's bright and clean. The service is great and the drinks are cheap. Red vinyl booths where duct tape has been used to hold the cracks together.. old dingy carpet and light fixtures that are straight from the 70's.. it's like walking back in time going here. I came in with no expectations, and thank goodness because I got just about that. There are no windows so the place is dark, small and claustrophobic feeling. One of the female bartenders seemed pretty friendly, while the other one was not helpful at all. There is a pool table for 50 cents a pop which is nice, and drinks are crazy cheap which is great, but the atmosphere makes you feel like this is a place where rainbows and dreams go to die. This is a great little dive bar in Scottsdale. It's dark, Beer is kept cold, and cheap! It's one of the few places I can meet the guys from work, cover a round or two and spend less than $20. They don't serve food here, only bags of Chips. There's a pool table and jukebox if that's your deal. I love how dark it is inside....that's something I miss about bars. The Tallyho is a dive, and that's a good thing. There's not a whole lot to say about this place. It's not that big. When you walk in the large wrap around bar takes up most of the space. There's a few booths and high tops, but most of the seating is a the the large wrap around bar. There's a pool table in the back. You kind of feel like you're walking into a old time speakeasy when you enter because there's no windows. One of the things I really like about this place is they allow you to bring in outside food (they don't have there own). One of my friends who I met here brought in food from the Mexican place a few doors down, and at one point an employee from the restaurant came into the bar and was asking if anybody wanted to order food so I'm guessing the two places have a good working relationship. They also serve cheap drinks, which is what you'd expect from a div-ier place like this. read more

Hands down one of the worst bars I've been to. Every time I go, the bartender (Lois?) kicks me out...once, I accidentally took my beer outside to smoke...another time I was singing too loudly to the jukebox. (I happened to be the DD that night so I wasn't even drunk!) Their drinks are terrible, you have to pay in cash, and the regulars run ppl out. The bar is literally in my neighborhood yet I don't go because of the bartender and the regulars. Too bad because it could be fun...I guess they hate making money. read more
