    Limited edition!!

Our 1st time visiting the smokehouse was on a Saturday for a YELP event! What a fantastic place! The ladies working were very sweet, helpful, and very accommodating. They were offering FREE sample of Tasso, a limited edition flat iron steak only available once a year. It was soooo tender and delicious we just had to take some home! The place was very clean and well organized . We got several other meats to take home and try. We will definitely be returning!

I was here for a Yelp event a couple of weeks ago and picked up some of the plain hot smoked salmon while I was there and oh wow, this was the best I've had since a trip to Seattle. It was so flavorful and truly had a smoked flavor with char marks on the skin; I.knew I needed more. They were out of the plain kind when I stopped by today, so I bought a cajun spice kind and cherry butter variety. They have cold smoked and cured varieties as well, but at the moment I seem hooked on their hot smoked salmon. I also bought some of the "kitchen sink" sausages on my last trip and they were delicious on the grill. I picked up some charcuterie on this trip along with some treats for a gift basket I'm putting together; they have Frittle, local jams and their own flavor mix of popcorn. I love that they have parking next to the shop; parking lots get bonus points in my book! They also have a rewards program; once you earn 500 points you get a $25 gift card. I need to come back to stock up on freezer items too once I clear out some real estate in my freezer. Staff are friendly and helpful. And....just have to mention...first review was by Ken N. and looks like he came the first day they opened and loved it. All of us Indy Yelpers who have been around a bit definitely remember Ken N and it's always nice to still see his reviews helping point out great local businesses.

I've been a fan of Smoking Goose since I moved to Indy a few years ago. I used to check out their warehouse sales, then they made the meatery but I didn't get to check it out cause of covid. Finally got to go. It's a small store but it's packed with goodies. The standout feature is the fill a box freezer sale. You literally fill a small or large box with as much stuff from the freezer for a set price (small $50, large $85). What an awesome deal! If you pack your box well you easily get well over the box price. I got to try several different things for much cheaper than usual. Wish they'd have such a deal for items in the rest if the store.

Love the local selection and quality of what they offered. The staff was very helpful as the selection could be overwhelming and different from normal. Their recommendations was definitely what helped when selecting from the freezer sale. I also liked the little "nook" of merchandise! I've seen smoking goose in many amazing restaurants and was glade to visit and get items from their store front.

Build your own charcuterie for 2 ($15)- super generous

The Smoking Goose offers on-site charcuterie and small plates at its Public Smokehouse concept.  When you enter Smoking Goose, you can select from a "build your own" charcuterie option board, with the smallest portion serving 1-2 for $15. The two (2) of us chose the smallest $15 option, where you mix n' match whatever three (3) items you prefer under the cheese, meat, or seafood categories.  We chose a delicious Kenny's Farmhouse gouda, smoked trout, and lomo (cured pork loin).  The charcuterie plate also came with a spicy mango chutney jam, an assortment of pickled veggies (such as delicious curry-pickled cauliflower), and crunchy olive-oil toasted bread points. There were a bunch of interesting small plates to choose from, such as gin-soaked olives with blue cheese and octopus with chorizo, but we decided upon the creamy smoked seafood dip with capers and pickled onions.  The dip was very rich, but lemon zest was thoughtfully micro-planed on top it; the brightly flavored zest, capers, and pickled onions helped to cut through the smoke and creaminess. The Smoking Goose staff were very friendly and descriptive in their answers, when we had questions about particular options or flavor profiles.  They checked in on us without being too obtrusive and obviously put a lot of care/attention into our plates. We thought the plating was beautiful and the portion size was generous for the price, especially when considering the flavor "bombs" that accompanied it.  Other local places charge similar (or more) for very sad-looking, poorer quality charcuterie with just a few slices of meat/cheese and no accompaniments. You can also add other Smoking Goose grocery items to your Public Smokehouse meal, such as quality tinned fish, jerkys, jams, or unique sodas/seltzers.   For seating options, there is a large wooden table that seats about eight (8) people inside or picnic tables outside;  not a lot of inside seating, but perhaps you'll meet a fellow charcuterie lover by sharing the table and bonding over cured meats and stinky cheese? Our only recommendation is that it'd be fantastic if raw oysters were also an option, like at the Goose the Market location off of Delaware...but that's only a minor quibble.  I'd highly recommend checking out Public Smokehouse if you'd like a different lunch time or afternoon snack option and want to try out new flavors (especially more of Smoking Goose's offerings).  We want to go back for octopus, smoked oysters, and more unique pickles. Afterwards, you can continue your regular Smoking Goose shopping; don't forget to check if a freezer sale is going on!

There was a lot of food for the price, and the ribs had plenty of meat on them. The fries were solid, and while the mac and cheese wasn't my favorite and reminded me a bit of cafeteria mac and cheese, I still left full and had leftovers to take home. The food was ready surprisingly fast, probably within 7 to 10 minutes. The staff was friendly throughout the visit and did a great job checking in on us, clearing trays, and making sure everything was going well. As for the atmosphere, I can appreciate the theme they were going for, even if it's not quite my style. The dining room is pretty dark, and the dark murals make it feel even darker. That said, the food and service easily made up for it. Overall, it was a really good experience and a place I'd happily visit again.

Hubby and I ordered a meal for two and it came with your choice of 2 meats plus ribs, and 2 sides along with bread rolls, and pickled veggies. Kinda sad that I didn't get to order dessert as we decided too late and didn't want to get back in line. Restaurant is set up where you're in line to place your order and pick up your order at the other counter. Line can get a little long but it goes by pretty fast. You then seat yourself and all the condiments, sauce, and drinks are all at different stations for self serve. There are plenty of seats inside and even a bar inside the restaurant. Very casual and kid friendly atmosphere.

It is a bit hard to determine where to order given the large space once you walk in, but they have a counter with a chalkboard menu to the left along the wall. They have a TON of choices and a lot of great sounding sides. The best deals are either platters or meals, as they come with sides and drinks. But they also offer specials during the week which makes things interesting. We got fried chicken breast (as out of all other chicken options almost) with a side of coleslaw. Tasty but a bit dry on the chicken. They do have at least 6 sauces to use (self serve) so that helped but I'd probably try another option next time. I'm more of a heavily seasoned preference if going to go for chicken, so found it also a bit bland. But well cooked and fresh! The sides of several others were great with a lot of variety so you can mix and match. Everyone ate the majority of their meals, so I think it went over well as a new option. The portions are large for the price so you won't go away hungry for sure! It is worth checking out and I appreciate their commitment to Barbeque.

The baked beans were more average to good. My dining partner had the brisket, mashed sweet potatoes, and baked beans. She said the brisket was very generously portioned and delicious, as was the mashed sweet potatoes. It's a counter service setup, but they did bring out our drinks and make sure we had refills. Staff was very courteous. Restrooms were clean. Parking was easily accessible given the strip mall setting. Overall I would eat here again if I was in the area and would look to try some additional menu items. The restaurant has a decent sized dining area with a couple of televisions for patrons enjoyment. The dining area is decorated with 80s movies posters and has a somewhat rustic vibe. There are also a few small tables outside, in front of the restaurant that you can sit as well. The woman working there was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. They serve barbecue, fried chicken, burgers, steaks, salmon, nachos, ham, brats, salads, sandwiches and wraps. I order the 3 piece fried chicken platter, which came with two sides (french fries and collard greens). I came on a Tuesday, but I should have came on a Friday because the fried chicken is buy one, get one free on Fridays. Oh well, now I know. The fried chicken is made to order, so it took about 20 minutes for me to get my meal, but it was fresh. I will admit, at first, I was a bit skeptical because the chicken was a lot lighter than I was used to. However, it was love at first bite. It was so crispy and delicious. The collard greens had a sweet vinegary taste to it and I liked that as well. You will find a sauce buffet here, with a bunch of different sauces and condiments that you can put in small containers that they provide and you can get them to-go or use it in the restaurant, like I did. I put some on the sauce on the already delicious chicken and it made it even better. I really like this place, It is kind of tucked away, so I am glad that I found it. If you looking for a place with a variety of good food, look no further. This is your place, I highly recommend checking this place out.

We'll be back soon to sample more of the menu option and take advantage of the beautiful view from the deck. First, know you DO NOT have to pay track admission at any time, including race days (the 500 & 400), to dine at the restaurant. Just inform the yellow shirts (there during races) as you enter off 16th Street you're there to dine at the Smokehouse. They'll wave you right in. Their regular hours are 11 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. However, they opened Sunday from 11-5 for the Brickyard 400 fans. Free parking is conveniently located in front of the restaurant. The Flag Room (over 21 only) is just off the lobby to the left and tastefully decorated in black and white race decor with a 60's feel. Slightly dated decor in the venue section of the building but it's coming back! The Flag Room has bar seating or 4-top tables with windows overlooking the back of turn 2 of the track. There was another dining area inside for under 21 patrons when we visited. Not sure if that area is always an option. As we entered the Flag Room our server asked if we'd prefer to sit on the deck. Yes, of course, on this beautiful fall day. And thank you for asking!! We could see both the jumbotron at IMS, hear the cars right next door and enjoy the players on the golf course all while sitting on the deck. On normal, non-racing days it's very peaceful and quiet. The deck is a large, family friendly, three tier deck overlooking the stunning Brickyard Crossing Golf Course. Room for families, friends or co-workers after work or a quiet table for two. The menu is larger than I expected. Simple two-sided menu with starters on one side and main courses on the other. A few of the appetizers are BBQ pulled nachos, smoked chicken wings, loaded fries, Smokehouse chili and three salads (Caesar, chef, tex-mex). Main courses are mostly sandwiches such as pulled pork hoagies, beef brisket, turkey bacon club, burger, tenderloin, chicken, smoked brisket tacos, house smoked baby back ribs and a veggie wrap. My husband ordered the Brisket sandwich which was not only a delicious sandwich but a good value for the price. It was served with yummy, thick, homemade chips finished off with their own in-house seasoning. Quite tasty and I ususally don't care for thick chips. I ordered a cup of the Smokehouse Chili with cheese and onion. I enjoyed the meaty, tomato based chili. For my entree I had the flavorful pulled pork hoagie served with excellent lightly battered fries. Again, it was a generous portion of pulled pork with a smokey sauce that had just a touch of sweetness. Most sauces are to sweet for me but I really enjoyed this one. The fries were amazing with a light batter, golden brown and seasoned well. Our server, Alicia I think, was attentive, very personable and friendly. Our drinks remained full, our tasty food arrived quickly and the prices are reasonable for the portion sizes. Stop by for lunch or dinner and definitely take advantage of the deck before winter arrives.
