just popped in for a drink a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised to find that they have several vegan options on their menu. i ended up trying their vegan blt and loved it! they give a large portion size and the option of different sides - i ended up getting veggie chips which are like fried mixed veggies (like beets, sweet potatoes etc...). i really enjoyed the sandwich and loved the deep, smoky flavor of their vegan bacon (i think its tempeh?) it doesn't have a bacon texture but the flavor is great. it's a little on the dry side but still very enjoyable. i'm looking forward to trying their other offerings. their servers and hosts were all very friendly and welcoming. definitely has a great vibe! read more

This brewpub is totally decent. It's in a cool location right off the Monon, has a pet-friendly patio, and inside is a bit of a maze but has a very cool classic English pub ambience to it. The service was fine, and the vibes are pretty nice to sit and drink inside or out. I'd like to come back in the winter on a cold night to drink pints inside and pretend I'm in Britain! Food was exactly what you'd expect from that kind of place, decent but nothing special. Our table got fish and chips, a blt, and a burger. All of it totally satisfactory. It looks like they have a very vegan friendly menu as well! If you're looking for a place to sit and have a beer with friends this fits the bill. If you're looking to have amazing food, there are probably other places I'd rather be. read more

Went with a group of 10 people on a Friday afternoon (arrived around 1pm). By 2pm we still hadn't received any food, not even the two appetizers we ordered in hopes that they would be quick (we were later informed the one sold out the night before so they had to completely remake -- wish we would have known that earlier to say just forget that one). The restaurant was pretty empty so we were surprised it was taking so long. On the plus side, their menu is varied; they have many vegan options which was appreciated for our party. They also have non alcoholic beverage options. I can't believe I have driven walked, and ran pass this place for years and just decided to check it out. The inside is smaller than I expected and so is the bar seating. Outside patio was poopin' but the inside was pretty quiet, which was great for me. I am a fan of dark beers and the ones I tried were fantastic. Since I don't live in Indy, it's been awhile since I've had a chance to stop by, but I still think it's an underrated great option for food or drinks. As areas like Broadripple get trendy, you tend to lose the character places. This isn't a place that is going to take over TikTok or Instagram with a viral post or some photo op spot. But they will serve you good food and drinks. I stopped by when they opened on a Sunday, so it wasn't overly crowded. I don't remember them having a Baby Guiness shot when I last visited, but I was pleasantly surprised by its inclusion in the menu. The last time I was able to find a bartender who knew what that was was 20 years ago in Ireland. The scotch egg burger was as good as I remembered and the onion rings almost had me licking the plate. I can see why we haven't eaten here in probably over a decade. Food was decent not great not bad. Not really memorable. Bbq chicken was pretty basic. Spinach melt I ask for crispy bacon I got almost crispy. Fries were good. Service a bit slow for the number of people eating. The Knick knacks really need cleaning as do the windows to what I'm guessing is an office area. It just liked dirty unkempt. Very very dark inside and that may be entirely by design. Broad Ripple Brewpub deserves credit for embracing plant-based diners with a generous spread of vegan options. I chose their vegan tenderloin and the onion rings as the side accompaniment. The onion rings were seasoned, crunchy and cooked to perfection. The vegan tenderloin was a different story. While the intentions are commendable, execution matters--and that's where the tenderloin fell short. Let's start with the good: THE CRUNCH! The breading had a satisfying crisp that gave the sandwich some much-needed texture. Unfortunately, that's where the excitement ended. The tenderloin itself was dry and underseasoned, leaving the palate searching for something--anything--to latch onto. A little salt, a hint of spice, or even a marinade could've elevated the experience. Not even the pickles, onions and mayo could elevate it from "meh" to memorable. A neighborhood known for its eclectic energy and bold flavors, this sandwich felt timid. Vegan doesn't have to mean bland, and Broad Ripple Brewpub has the opportunity to prove that with a little more culinary courage. Verdict: Crunchy, yes. Flavorful, no. Friends were in town from the Elkhart County area. I was tired after a long day, however, the chance to get together with these friends was too good to pass up on. So, we began the search for a dining option honoring their vegan ways and my carnivore tendencies. Broad Ripple Brewpub may not seem like the idea option for a vegan, however, they have a surprising amount of vegetarian and vegan options. I knew parking would be an option here, though I hadn't realized Broad Ripple was hosting an art fair this weekend. I arrived with concerns that I'd be unable to find anything. However, fairly quickly I found an accessible spot along the Monon Trail. There's a row of three spots right across from La Piedad - about a block down from the Brewpub. Broad Ripple Brewpub offers both indoor and outdoor options. After figuring out that my friends were already inside, we all gathered in a quiet, dimly light corner. Amidst the chaos that was Broad Ripple, I was surprised how quiet it was and how much we could enjoy conversation and dinner. As you enter, you turn to the right and head toward a small hosting area. It's a narrow hallway. Like many businesses in Broad Ripple, it appears this is an old house turned into a restaurant. While everything is narrow, my guess is that some thought has been put into design because I could easily get where I needed to be. I will admit that when I'm dining with passionate vegans, I'm as respectful as I can be while also honoring the fact I'm not vegan. So, I switched from my usual burger and moved over fish and chips (Yes, probably in a vegan's eyes there's no difference but it feels less "in your face" to me). Broad Ripple Brewpub was started by John Hill and his wife, Nancy. Nancy is a native Hoosier. John is from U.K. and has clearly designed the pub with an eye toward authenticity with its dark wood, fireplace, tin ceiling, and stained glass windows. (I think one table thought I was staring at them - in reality, I love these windows). Our server, whose name I didn't quite catch, was excellent throughout. She was present without being intrusive. I had multiple iced tea refills because my friends and I were lingering. I never got the sense of being pushed out. Most of the pub was busy outside - it was a nice day. The inside was less full and that allowed us to really linger. The management had previously contacted me to let me know that the restrooms are relatively accessible. They do regularly have customers who are wheelchair users. I checked and, yes, I think most can do fine with the restrooms. If you're very dependent on assistance, it might be a bit of a chore but most will do fine. The food was good across the board. I can't remember everything my group ordered, however, I do know there was a pub chip appetizer (we didn't quite register that pub chips would be included with meals). We had me with fish and chips, one with vegan tenderloin, one with tenderloin, and a couple other options. At least two of us, myself included, needed to grab a "to go" box. My meal included two large pieces of fish, pub chips (other sides could have been chosen), and a small thing of cole slaw that I enjoyed. What can I say? I just really enjoyed this experience. I loved that we could linger. I loved the quieter, more intimate ambience. I loved the quiet yet steady service. Pricing has gone up for sure since my previous review, however, it's still competitive and a solid value for the amount of food received. I loved the iced tea refills (I believe they still use Hubbard & Craven for tea). Of course, I loved the company I was with but I really loved that I could enjoy this company. While Broad Ripple sometimes gets a bad wrap these days, this was a sublime experience and a great reminder that there are some major gems in Broad Ripple. In terms of access, they have a small parking lot that doesn't really offer access unless you aim for an end spot. There are three ADA compliant spots a block away and I utilized one of them. Curb cuts have improved in this area. There's a little bit of a weird angle to get on the sidewalk of the pub, however, it's pretty low to the ground and very workable. I had no problem functioning inside or outside. The patio is dog-friendly. This was a near perfect end to a tiring yet rewarding day. So, Broad Ripple Brewpub is being moved up to a 5-star. read more

Absolutely love this place - wife and I go about every weekend and it never disappoints. A robust in-house beer selection and sprawling menu with plenty of vegan options. Don't listen to the naysayers who just don't get it - BRBP oozes English pub vibes. Out of dozens and dozens of times, neither my wife and I have ever sent a dish back. The vegan tenderloin (which I call the Seitanderloin) is a top vegan dish in Indianapolis. Whoever said the Seitanderloin lacks flavor apparently is unfamiliar with the tenderloin sandwich in general. Come here, try a special, drink an ESB, and soak in the community atmosphere. read more

The person I spoke with was very kind and said he would watch out for us, but table outside should not be a problem. My friends got there ahead of us, and they asked if they were part of my party. Great service. The beer was cold and perfect. I had Oktoberfest and it was wonderful. In my mind better than real Coke. We ordered hot cheese dip and scotch eggs. They came out with a film on the cheese showing it was not hot, stale bread and the Scottish eggs were good, although cold and no spicy mustard. We all were enjoying the evening and conversation and beer and decided to do light on dinner. We ordered a big pretzel and onion straws. Guess what they came out, cold. None of the above things were good but we decided not to ruin the mood of our evening griping about the food. Our waitress tried but seemed to be stretch thin. Next and final food item was Cinamon Puffs and a root beer float. You won't believe it the puffs were...wait for it...cold and had chocolate syrup. The waitress offered to redo them, but we decided to go ahead and eat them. I ordered coffee, it was the best part of the evening. When I asked for a go cup, they said they don't usually do to go but would put coffee in a go cup made out of plastic if I would like. Outside was nice and the patio was perfect. It was Saturday in Broad Ripple so lots of screaming, gunning cars and motorcycles. It was noise but once again we were enjoying the relaxed atmosphere and just wrote it off to Saturday in BR. Will we go back, not real soon and when we do, if served cold food will have it taken back. No pictures this time but trust me when onion straws lay on a plate and look like two-day old, cooked pasta, it is not a good thing. Pretzel not warm and a shaker of salt of it, not a pretty picture. BRip Brewpub is our go-to for patio eats and bevvies when the weather cooperates. Weather crappy? Go inside and experience the pub! The bar area fireplace is one of my fav spots to sit and sip. It's dog friendly (the patio) and they have a lot of really good veg*an options for me and the meats for the hubs to choose from. Funny enough, my omni husband actually prefers their garden sloppy joe - which is vegetarian - and their fish and chips are divine. My fav is the vegan tenderloin (seitan), extra pickles and yellow mustard, with the pub chips (think potato disks instead of fries). I have been told that nearly half the menu is vegetarian - and I believe it - and virtually all vegetarian items can be made vegan by subbing vegan cheeses or sauces. 5/5 stars for that alone. The food also mixes British influenced pub grub with traditional American selections. I was less than impressed with the Scotch egg burger as it was rather overcooked and dry. Another in our party ordered the Shepard's pie and commented at the paucity of meat...but he complains about everything. The one who ordered the basic Pub Burger was very happy. Meanwhile, the carnivores of our party also had lots of choices. Of note were multiple people who enjoyed the generous portion of fish and chips. Broad Ripple Brew Pub is a safe bet for the family anytime. My wife usually wants meatless, my son usually wants meat, I usually want something different by the day and my daughter wants pasta or chicken. This place has it all and many options for each of us. I always get good service and I feel relaxed while I am there. In the warmer months, I take my dogs with me or with my family and eat outside. If it is a little chilly and I want an outside beer by the fire, they have a fire pit. I will say I like sitting outside better. The inside is a bit dark. This is Indiana's oldest brewery. Went here with some family while I was in town per recommendation from my aunt and wow what an expansive menu with so many plant based options. I tried the three bean chili and really enjoyed it, especially at our table next to the fire. It was the perfect winter day meal. The inside of this restaurant is beautiful but a little odd of a layout, which I actually think adds to the charm. We were seated next to a fireplace making a very warm and cozy lunch spot. I also tried some fries stolen from my lunch mates haha and we all split the veggie chips. Both were really good but the veggie chips were the real star for me. Updating my review due to the owner kindly writing me back :). Yes I order the cheese crock. Yes it was my decision to order it, not the owners. I didn't know there would be not so great things on the menu and it was my fault for ordering this thing. To make it known, my preferences include : good cheese and toasted bread. As for THIS Beer Cheese Crock ... it had both not good cheese and un toasted white bread. I give it a 3/10. In addition to my poor ordering skills.... The service was slow and we waited around 20 mins for our bill. Broad Ripple Brewpub was the perfect place to visit for a cheeky lil' drink. I just wanted a nice glass of wine before going to an appointment down the street, so I slinked in and pulled up to the bar. They only have like five different wines on the menu, and only three red wines, but it was fine. This is a pub, and pubs aren't known for wine, so I made do with a glass of Cabernet. Next time, I'll try one of their many beers on tap. The bartender was quick and friendly, but absent when he needed to be and there when I needed him (my favorite qualities of a good bartender). The service all around was excellent. The restaurant itself is extremely dark inside, so it's kind of like entering a cozy den. By the bar is a fireplace, which added a nice ambiance. It was nice to sip my wine by the fire. I'll have to come back and try the food, because I didn't have any this visit. But the dude sitting next to me said that the beer cheese here is really good. read more

My husband and I have been here several times while biking on the Monon Trail. It was a perfect sunny day in Indiana, so we opted to sit outside and enjoy our flight. We got the Nice Weiss, Monon Porter, Red Bird Mild, Dual Citizenship Ale, Black Heat Lager, Lawn Mower Pale aale, Dark Hero, and Boro Brown Ale. We always enjoy trying the different beers here. Stumbled on this place when getting lost during a detour and so glad we did!! The atmosphere is so perfectly Pub, we felt back in England. The menu is very pub forward, lots of vegetarian options ,so big that you want to come back to try more. We sat close to the bar becaise it was mid day and had great service from both shifts . We loved the Beary Mac Beerface beer and the Pims#1 mixed beverage. We tried the crock of beer cheese and actually sent it back, it was 1000% not us. I went with the Lawn Mower pale ale- I thought it was ok- then I tried the Nice Weiss and preffered that. My husband and I both got their specials- a burger with bacon and a chicken sandwich with aioli. We didn't think they were anything special and because of that probably won't be going back. After seeing the owners response - I just want to clarify my husband did not enjoy his burger as he ordered it medium rare and it was served well done. Despite having a margarita on the menu and one of the dishes coming out with half a lemon on it, our waitress who said she's worked there for 8 years said they couldn't make a whiskey sour or even an old fashioned. 2 super basic drinks any pub/bar should be able to make at least a low-grade version of. Since she had worked there for 8 years someone asked if she preferred the chicken schnitzel or the shepherds pie. She said she hadn't tried either of them. The fact she's worked there for 8 years and never tried 2 of the more common food items makes me wonder what's wrong with the food or the kitchen. The food was ok. I had the fish and chips. Wanted to check out this restaurant for lunch today and I did not disappoint! From the service to the food it was all spectacular! When we first arrived we were greeted and sat quickly. The outdoor patio seating was nice and not too hot for midday dining. Our server was really great and made sure we were well taken care of. The food was awesome! So many vegetarian options!!!! I loved that, this place really has something for everyone! I got the vegan tenderloin which was so good, hadn't had one in years and having that option was truly terrific! It tasted amazing and came with a plethora of toppings. Also ordered a side of thin crust onion rings which I'd recommend , so crisp and fresh ! My friends and I meet here regularly for our mom's night out. The service is always fantastic, and the food is delicious! The menu is unique, with a lot of vegan options. You can eat healthy, or you can get all the comfort food. Their beer selection is also excellent. The atmosphere is relaxing. We haven't visited Broad Ripple Brewpub for a while now and returned for a leisurely, Saturday afternoon lunch. We found parking quickly which delighted me. The interior has two dining areas with a small bar area and outdoor seating. I love the ceiling in the bar area. The rooms are broken up with a cozy, homey atmosphere. We were greeted and seated by a very pleasant young lady. Our server arrived quickly and my husband ordered an IPA India Pale Ale and I had a 12 oz margarita. Both were enjoyed. The menu is very much vegan and vegetarian-friendly along with a gluten-free option. We found a nice selection of appetizers, two homemade soups, several salads, a wide variety of burgers (1/2 lb. Bison Burger), many sandwiches, and 7" or 10" pizzas ( try the scotch egg or nutty garden pizza). Other options include 2 kinds of pasta (Penne, Ravioli), Meatloaf, Bangers & Mash, Shepherds Pie, Chicken Schnitzel, and Fish & Chips plus more. My husband ordered the BBQ Chicken Sandwich with Pulled Pork soaked in BBQ Sauce and Pub Chips. He said the chicken was tender and he liked the BBQ sauce while the Pub Chips still had a touch of soft potato in the center which he liked. I've been considering eating more vegetarian and vegan so I opted for the South-west Vegan Black Bean Burger topped with fresh homemade salsa and melted cheddar jack cheese with a side of mashed potatoes. The sandwich was good but I would add more spice as the actual burger was a tad bland. They served a generous amount of mashed potatoes and they tasted homemade. Overall, we had a pleasant lunch with good service and tasty food. It's nice to know I can find vegan or vegetarian options if wanted while my husband can enjoy his meat-eating options. We ate at BR Brewpub last evening to support "Dine out of Life", which they were supporting. The service was good, the beer was good (lawn mower pale ale). The food not so much. My Black Bean Burger had no flavor other than the bun, tomato, and onions. Hot sauce helped, but that just made it edible. My wife had the Chicken Schnitzel, it was also flavorless.
