I am extremely disappointed and frustrated with Public Storage. I moved out and completely emptied my unit, but they still charged me for an entire extra month because the lock was not removed by 9:00 PM. The lock was removed by 6:00 AM the very next morning, and the space was already vacant. This is absolutely ridiculous. Charging a customer a full month's rent over a matter of hours, when the unit was empty and no longer being used, feels unfair, greedy, and completely unreasonable. There was no loss to the company, no items left behind, and no reason to charge me for another full month other than hiding behind a technicality. This experience left a very bad impression. Customers should know that even if you move out and empty your unit, Public Storage may still charge you another full month over something as minor as a lock being removed a few hours later. I would not recommend Public Storage and I would never rent from them again. read more

Everyone beware! They will change the price on you. I was told that my rate was locked in. Within 2 months, they raised the rent which made me look at their contract. Looking closely, I saw that they hid in the verbiage that they can raise it whenever they want with a 30 day notice?! I rented a 10x25 unit so it was not easy to simply move out. After a year and my rent more than doubling, I decided to move to another storage company. I must say that this company is very dishonest and will keep referring to the contract that they verbally lied about in the first place so you can move your stuff in, knowing that it's very difficult to move everything out. I've rented from other locations before, but this has been my longest rental with Public Storage, and it's because of the quality of this location! Rent has been reasonable and affordable, considering the variety of sizes of units. The facility is always clean, storage carts are readily available, and staff are more than helpful and friendly. Everyone has been helpful, but I especially want to point out Sadie. She consistently goes above and beyond--always kind, professional, and welcoming. Every time I come in, she acknowledges me as a customer, checks to see if my unit is meeting my needs, and asks if there's anything she can do to help. That kind of attentiveness really makes a difference, and it shows how much she cares about providing great customer service. Bait and switch promotions. Please be aware that their promotions are not properly disclosed anywhere on their marketing or rental agreement.They did not disclose the that after three months, they will immediately raise your monthly rate over 50% which was shocking to me.The office attendant had told me my payment would never increase more than $10-$15 per year. They do this because they already know you have your stuff there and it's unlikely you're going to want to move it again, it's an absolute bait and switch. I would've liked to have known upfront so I could've compared my storage options. read more

The facility is clean but WATCH OUT for the scams! They give you a special price that quickly doubles! When you move out, they refuse to refund any portion of the pre-paid month. They state "it in the documents you signed" but they cannot produce said documents (neither can you). read more

I wish I had looked up the hours before spending a bunch to rent here. I rented from Public Storage in a different city and the hours were 8 am - 8 pm; here the hours are 9:30 am - 6 pm and 9:30 am - 5 pm on weekends, which is absurd. So, don't depend on getting a lot done at your unit if you have a day job. Also, don't be fooled into thinking you're getting some kind of promotional sale if you click on their various ads. I clicked to get my first month for $1 then 30% off the rest of my months. No discounts after the payment went through, and since there was only one unit left in the size I wanted, I had no choice but to just pay the price it gave so I didn't miss out on the unit. I'm likely to look into one of the numerous nearby storage facilities that have better hours, rather than renting here long term. All this said, it's a nice facility. Clean and well lit, though the lights come on as you walk down the hallways, so they're a little scary to go into at first. The manager who called, Katherine, to confirm my move in was friendly and seemed enthusiastic about doing her job well. read more

Buyer beware! The storage facility is clean and well maintained. However, the hours are significantly shorter than most public storage facilities, so getting access to your stuff can be restricted. My bigger issue with Public Storage in general is that they are horrible about price gouging. They lure you in with reasonable rates and then jack them up excessively. In the two years I have rented a unit from them my rates have gone up by over 90%. The most recent rate increase was 40% in a single year. Once you have your stuff there, they know it is a hassle to move it, so they keep gouging you on the costs. We are now at the point where it is probably cheaper to sell the stuff we have in storage and dump the unit. Public Storage is the epitome of profit over everything else. Moreover, it is impossible to contact anyone at their corporate office, probably because they don't really care about their customers, so why bother having people to answer phones or respond to email. If I had to do it over again, I would have rented with a locally-owned facility that actually has a shred of decency. read more

Never did I ever think I would need a storage space but never again will I ever put Myself in a position to need one ever again. Public Storage policies are deceptive in general, but this location in particular gives no crap about anything their customer is going through. I've been homeless, have had to move across the state and I've seen no sign of empathy or grace from this company and what's the point of doing business with them? Time after time of calling them for help and they show no signs of care or consideration. I've forgotten my key, they don't have a locksmith. No trash to throw anything away. No moving help with big moves and They no longer prorate your monthly lease so now they can collect rent twice on the same storage unit if someone moves out early. Even when I'm unable to make it to move out because I got COVID, Nope dgaf. It's not their personal responsibility, it's just the lack of care and concern that's unacceptable. Things happen and I feel businesses should have a bit of adaptability and flexibility when dealing with customers, (I'm a business owner myself). Do we want to enable the customers to take advantage and rip companies off? Of course not! Realistically though, things aren't always going to be black and white. Sometimes, there's opportunities for compromise between the company & client. The least they could do is keep back up locksmith contacts just in case; have accommodations and grace periods for move outs. And make the payment policies and late fees CLEAR. They don't tell you shit when you come in and sign up -- they send one reminder about your bill, the month before!! No reminders in an appropriate amount of time but they can call and harass you back to back to back over a $20 late fee. This should have gotten a 1, but because they're there for what they're there for, obviously, and that's putting your shit in storage. Thanks for the business for the time I needed it. I've had a unit here for a few years now. When I first got my unit, Tom was extremely helpful and understanding. Honestly, he was amazing! Someone took his place after he left, and I had a billing issue that I discussed with her and she promised to fix it, but unfortunately that didn't happen. That was pretty frustrating. Kately was extremely helpful today when I needed to purchase another temporary unit. For my situation, I wanted the $1 move-in special, but the unit I needed wasn't available. She thought the pricing wouldn't be too high, but after we saw the bottom line it was going to cost me $400 instead of $1. In discussing it with my wife, we decided to go somewhere else. Next, Kately found a unit for me at a sister location that was not too far for the $1 move-in special! She took care of it there, and I was able to set me up to get my keys and set up my app easily.  As a single parent in school to become a nurse, and also attending school in the automotive industry to take care of her son's health, she can also maintain a car herself (Instead of paying $400 plus for one blowout...smh). It's clear that she's got a great head on her shoulders, and she's got a great future ahead of her. at the time I signed my contract they were doing a special. I specifically asked if the rate would increase when the special was over, and I was told no, I would keep the rate as long as I had the contract. Three months have gone by and now my rate has increased over $50 a month. When I brought this up to their customer service, I was told there was nothing they could do about that. This is their policy. They can increase the rate whenever they wanted. If that's the case, fine, but don't tell your customers your rate will never change just to get u to sign the contract. Very, very frustrating. If I had known, the rate was going to increase this much, I would not have rented. read more

When I needed help getting all information cutting a lock for a lost key the customer service rep Darrius went above and beyond to assist me giving me all pertinent details. God this place has been a hassle. My movers and me just got kicked out. Along with two other families. When I originally got this unit over a year ago I was told office hours were till certain times but you could get into storage units later. Even talked to the guy earlier and all he said was the office closed at 5 not that we had to be out. So glad after today I no longer have to deal with them. Our rates have been jacked up twice now we went from 110-167. Thank god ours wasn't broken in to like some of the other people I've read about since then on here. Main reason is their alarm system doesn't work. Ten minutes after we got kicked out a transient walked out, no alarms, no police. He left the door wide open, I closed it. The only redeeming quality it's the older ladies that work in the office are very nice. read more

You start with a low (but not that low) rate, sign a contract month to month and then they take advantage of the fact that it's a pain to move your stuff and increase the price every 6 months. Price increased by almost 60%. Access hours were 6am-9pm, but decreased to 9:30am-6pm without notice. Access hours are not posted on the gate, office, website, or app ... even Public Storage customer service believed access was 24/7 and was not able to see any access hours or restrictions. Signed up for app, however app said "you no longer have access". Public Storage customer service said everything looked fine. They reached out to the local and district manager, however no one ever responded. Gate access code did not work. A customer happened to be leaving and helped with some detective work to find out the code worked on some code boxes but not others (used to work on all). Website and telephone state office is open during regular business hours, but that is not the case. Sign on the door states office is temporarily closed. It's May 30, 2021 and office is still temporarily closed? Sign on the door lists another Brea office to call, however they don't answer during regular business hours either. Left a message last year (for information that wasn't available on their website or their automated phone options), however no one ever responded (from 440 E Lambert Rd, Brea location). One time when we visited the storage facility, there was a very large hole in the building ceiling, open to the sky. Reading the reviews now, it sounds as though the hole was related to a break in where criminals descended to the inside of the building, clipped the chicken wire that covered the storage units, then stole items from the storage units (and maybe even kept the stolen items in a rented storage unit in the same building!). Please read the other reviews for the details and beware that all or some of the storage units in the building are not enclosed at the top ... the tops are only covered with chicken wire. Moving out. Based on our experience, we would not recommend. read more

Our monthly rental was due to increase June 1st by $47 for a 10 x 7.5 space. Unacceptable increase. Spoke to John and he was able to reverse that increase for three months. We will reevaluate our situation again in August. If the increase cannot be reversed again we may have no choice but to move our belongings elsewhere. I'm posting this review in hopes it can help someone in the future. I was moving out of my storage unit on the last day of the month. I called to ask questions about moving out. I was told my account had been credited, and I still had the following month to move out. The next day, I checked my public storage app, and It showed a balance for the month I was told was covered. I called in and was told that it sometimes takes 24 hours to reflect on the app and if I still have a balance tomorrow to call back or come into the office at 9:30am to speak with the manager. I still had a balance the next day, so I drove to the office and spoke with a woman at the counter who had no intentions of helping me or even listening to what I had to say. She just kept interrupting me as I tried explaining my situation and rolling her eyes at me. She told me there must have been an issue or glitch with the system and that I have to pay or I will be sent to collections. At no point did she show any kind of understanding for their systems mistake. I had to ask her for anyone above her, and she told me to call the 800 number. 2 other customers walked in as I was asking for a number for upper management, and I think that was the only reason she provided me with one. I called the number and was told I would get a call back in 48 hours. I called back on day 3 because I hadn't received a call back. They then told me it's 72 hours. Day 5 I called back and had my issue escalated. I finally get the call back from the district manager who tells me there's no record of your conversations with anyone. Your account was only credited $17. There's no way for me to refund you. You must pay or go to collections. Even though when you call, it says the conversation is being recorded. They have cameras on the property and can see I was there moving my stuff. The only reason I didn't move out was because not one but 2 separate employees lied to me and said my account was credited for the following month. Now I'm stuck paying another month of rent for a storage I don't need. If this happens to anyone, I advise you to move your stuff out because from what I experienced, this seems like a scam for them to charge you an additional month. Also, they raise your rent $30 every 4 months. Customer service is just non-existent here. read more

I am writing this review to warn other renters - STAY AWAY FROM THIS PUBLIC STORAGE LOCATION. My unit got broken into on Nov 5th while I was traveling. I am sharing my experience as below while meeting with district manager on Dec 8th. 1. I was not acknowledged until this happened - No cameras or alarms on any side doors, only on the main entrance. (Assume thieves only come from main entrance?) 2. The alarm in my storage unit was not working while this burglary was happening. (Very odd!) 3. Their manager called my emergency contact and mentioned the camera caught two suspicious guys. However, when I got back in town and came to their office. District manager told me and police that the camera didn't catch anything or anyone during the time the burglary happening. (Who is saying the truth?) 4. The manager told my emergency contact there were more than 10 units got broken into. But when police came to take a report, district manager said 5-6 units got broken into. 5. Without asking my ID to check my unit, the staff just printed out a contract on a wrong unit then district manager told me I declined the renter insurance which totally shocked me. (Super unprofessional!) 6. Thieves sprayed on my storage door that the office staffs didn't even notice. I was terrified if the thieves targeted at my storage for next action or the spray to remind them this unit was done already to save time for next time? The facility in this location is not safe at all (burglary happened often due to police report). Their staffs are unprofessional, cold, and rude. Public storage keep increasing the rent but the service and security keep decreasing! read more

It was a good place but this past summer the doors were broken so the lobby of the elevators were used as a bathroom all summer, Then starting in December they cut the hours of entry to office hours and no sundays So now i never have access to my unit Unless I miss work to get in! Because Of the limited access i had to keep my extra tool boxes in my Truck and they got stolen!! Before i used to take them to storage. I rented a unit on the second floor for over a year. Experienced at least three rate increases in that time. I started at 64 dollars a month and increased to 94 dollars . I moved to Arizona and drove back down to Orange County to get my belongings, gas is about $4.50 a gallon. I rent a uhaul trailer and show up to get my things. I'm told that the elevators (2) are broken that they are sorry!!! That I can use the stairs .... 50 yards to stairs from my unit and down 2 flights of stairs and another 30 yards to exit. Not going to do that at 70 years old. I was told "sorry" but offered no compensation for driving 4 hrs each way and my trailer rental. I was given the name of territory manager for North Orange County (Rachel) I left several voicemail messages but got no call back. I guess the territory manager works like the elevators!Please post this deal There are two elevators but when one breaks down both stop working. Now this might not be a big deal if your local and schedule a new day but when you drive 4 hrs one way and spend 85 dollars in fuel one way I feel that Public Storage's problem shouldn't be mine. Bottom line Public Storage had no interest in my situation caused by having two elevators that didn't work. Poor planning became my problem! Don't rent from Public Storage!!! read more

I have never been treated so horrible in my life. DONT go here! my items smell like rat pee pee. Upon my departure, the person on duty was the SO RUDE. In these times, customer service should be #1 priority - I would rate this place a flat - 0 out of 5.... just because of one guy. I have alway been treated kindly by Andrea, other lady who is at the front desk.
