I had everything I own stolen from two separate units…read more I stored my belongings here for over 20 years, paying roughly $40-50k over that time. In the end, about $50,000 worth of my property was stolen from my two units, including irreplaceable items from my late father and grandparents, original artwork, and a career's worth of work samples (50+ snowboards). Their cameras only cover the outside of the buildings. Other storage facilities advertise interior cameras as a safety feature; this one doesn't have any. The front gate regularly allows multiple cars to pass through with one code entry, and the building doors themselves don't require an entry code or are usually propped open - essentially, anyone can enter the property and the buildings with zero verification that they should be there. Their website and payment system make you re-enter your payment information after you've already entered it and clicked confirm. I spoke to them about this numerous times, explaining that it's confusing; no retailer ever makes you reconfirm a purchase. Their response was that they didn't want people double-charged. I'd much rather be double-charged than robbed blind. Read into this however you like, but only my wife, myself, and their staff knew I had these units. I generally came midweek/mid-day and was careful not to leave anything of visible value in the hallways. My units were across the building from each other, and there was no obvious way for someone to know which units to target. My theory - and the detective on my case agreed it was plausible - is that I forgot to confirm my payment on their website one time, sending my unit(s) to pre-lien status. I paid the moment I got the notice, but the damage seems to have already been done. The thieves went through every single box in one unit, but stopped a third of the way through the other, leaving thousands of dollars of stuff untouched. Why? It's almost like they were told to stop for some reason. Maybe after a payment was made? When I reported my theft to the front desk, one employee was genuinely shaken, but the manager had an unmistakable "oh, sh**" look and showed zero surprise that I'd been robbed. To make it worse: insurance requires receipts and proof of ownership for decades-old belongings, much of it from people no longer alive to help me prove what I owned - capped at $5,000 on a $50,000 loss. Two decades of trust, gone. The place looks nice, but not everyone has a nice experience. I left one star, I wish I could leave less.

They have been incredible helpful when I needed to move to an additional storage. However, he had license that had expired a few months ago and a paper from DMV showing the renewal. The computer didn't validate his license so I asked to remove him as a driver. Then my whole reservation was rejected and canceled. I was frantic as I needed a truck and had always gone to UHaul, like for over two decades. It turns out that because my friend owed money to UHaul for a rental that was stolen and returned damaged, a rental he had bought insurance for, where there was a dispute over the insurance coverage, a rental that had NOTHING to do with me, they would not let ME rent a truck. I called and spoke to someone who informed me that I would NEVER be able to rent a truck from then until the issue with my friend was resolved. We are not married and never were, we are not and never were boyfriend/girlfriend, and had and have no financial ties whatsoever. It did not matter. THEY REFUSE TO RENT TO ME BECAUSE MY FRIEND OWES THEM MONEY!!! I will be taking legal action against them after I finish this move as no form of discrimination is allowed in the state of California. After that, I WILL NEVER RENT FROM THIS COMPANY WHOSE POLICIES ARE UNFAIR, MOST LIKELY ILLEGAL, AND DISCRIMINATORY ON THE BASIS OF WHO YOU ASSOCIATE WITH. Totally un-American, which I hear is the fashion with some nowadays. If you want to deal with a MAGA company who does not care one bit about loyal customers, have at it. Good luck!

1 star because the manager was always helpful and responsive. That's where the good stuff ends…read more This review is absolutely related to corporate level actions which represent a greater problem with storage companies and their insatiable greed. I started renting a unit from West Coast Storage in November 2025. My monthly rent was $159 for a 10 x 10'. $144 rent and a $15 insurance. By May 2026, the company was sending me an email titled RENT ADJUSTMENT NOTICE. Seemingly benign words introducing me to a shocking email that stated my rent would go up to $220, effective immediately next month. From $144 to $220. A 35% increase!!! Here is a direct pull from the email stating why: "We do not take adjusting your rental rate lightly and understand cost increases impact you. We want you to know that this is not a reflection of your tenancy but of several other factors. When we make rental rate adjustments we consider rising facility costs, facility maintenance needs, facility improvements and current rental market conditions among many other factors." Reading this BS was insult to injury. Rising costs from one month to the other at a 35% rate? So ridiculous. I'd heard that storage companies were gouging customers, and now I experienced it myself. I had already read the reviews saying that at about the 6month mark, they ceremoniously increase rent. But I had no idea it would be such a astronomical increase. Cowards hiding behind lies. I'd rather they just come out and say 'we want more $$' than hide behind the joke of "rising facility costs". Companies like West Coast and Public Storage are preying on customers like sitting ducks, waiting half a year until the renter has settled into the unit. Then they hold you captive & gouge you. The obvious question is how can companies get away with this? I've since read about the lawsuits and found out that some companies have a clause saying they can increase rent up to 500%. These business practices are criminal.
