This place really took a turn for the worst. I had been with them for 5 years. It was great at first, great location. Within the last 2 years, its had been to get a cart and the upkeep seems to have gone downhill. I closed my account on July 2nd, but got billed for the full month of July. I was told I need to call for a refund of the unused days. The first number I was directed to call came back with a busy signal every time I called. So I called the customer service line again and was given a different number to contact the District Manager; I received the answering service for an entirely different person. I feel as if I'm being given the run around.... Would not recommend this place. read more

i just moved to the area and was looking for a storage space. i did some research and came across this location. when i arrived i was greeted with a friendly worker named cynthia guinn. she was so helpful with getting me squared away with my space and even went an extra mile to suggest local restaurants and shopping. i would recommend this location as well as public storage as a company. great employees are hard to find but they have one there. thanks so much read more

I highly recommend this facility. They have very professional and helpful representatives which made my move as easy with the least amount of stress. I was in a bind after another local storage facility that I had booked told me that they closed early and would kick us out by 7:00p.m. (something they should have mentioned at the time I made my reservation). At the last minute, I had to scramble to find another storage unit as a had a moving truck full of stuff with nowhere to go. J.R. and another female representative (worked evening of 4/1/14) helped me out and put me into a unit at a good price. Thanks to JR and other representative everything worked out. When showing us the space we'd rented, JR was a genius at looking at the items we intended to store, checking out the space we'd rented, and making suggestions as to how to maximize that space. The Public Storage facility at 6211 Corte Del Abeto in Carlsbad, California, is great!! We had two storage units and they were clean, easily accessible, and worked perfectly for our needs. In addition, both J.R. and Vida, who manage the office at this facility, were always extremely helpful and courteous. I have been a customer at Public Storage Carlsbad near Palomar Airport for almost 3 years. The facility is nice and the staff was helpful when I moved in. Since that day, there has literally been no customer service. Besides the annoying price hikes and broken elevators, my complaint was with the flat carts needed to move large items. I was told there were 2 carts near each elevator available on a first come, first serve basis. Most of my visits did not require a flat cart, but when I needed one about six months ago, there were none available on my side of the building. I went to the office which was closed during normal business hours and also to the other elevator, but no carts could be found. I moved my stuff without a cart and called customer service to complain. They offered to roll back the latest price increase for 3 months for the inconvenience. That reduced my rate from $146 to $133 and saved me $39. I planned to move out on 10/31 but could not complete the move because, you guessed it, no carts were available and nobody in the office, again during normal business hours. I moved more stuff on 11/1 again without a cart. On 11/2 I ran in to the property manager showing the property to prospective customers. Rather than express my frustration in front of her prospects, I asked her to call me ASAP. An hour later she called and explained that the carts are no longer kept near the elevators, but rather are locked near the office and a picture ID was needed to use them only when office is open. So I used a cart and completed my move. Since it was now November 2, they informed me I am responsible for the full month rent for November. I called a district manager named Taylor who also made no concessions and explained that since I was not out on 10/31, I was responsible for the entire month, regardless of the circumstances. read more

This review is for the Public Storage in Carlsbad. I found this place by accident during a visit to K1 racing which is next door. I've never rented a storage unit before so I wasn't sure what to expect. When I came in I was helped by J.R. (or JR not sure of the spelling) who was working the front counter. He greeted me promptly and politely and asked how he could help me out. I explained my situation in that I had no experience on how storage units work or how much they cost. He explained to me in detail the size and price of the units and how things work in a very easy to understand manner. I told him I didn't have a ton of money and instead of making me feel bad Jr said he would help me figure out a solution that would work for both my needs and budgets. He offered me some first time customer promotions which helped me out a lot. I really appreciated the way he took the time to help me out and not push me towards more expensive units I both didn't need nor could afford. Overall this was one of the most pleasant experiences I've ever had with a sales rep. Thank you J.R. read more

Be careful not to rely on the Public Storage website for any details of moving into a storage unit at the facility in Carlsbad. Your move in costs will be very different, as increased costs and undisclosed fees do exist. A new lock fee for their special lock and a fee for their special insurance were both undisclosed but significant costs. Even for existing customers, the surprises are well considered, to include increases in storage fees. I have a 5 x 5 at the Carlsbad Storage Unit. I reserved a larger unit on the Public Storage website. Then I talked to the Carlsbad office and a friendly lady told me that the 1/2 price deal on the website was only for new customers and I would still have to pay a new "administrative fee" to move units within the same facility. Ok... but she assured me that the website price for the larger unit was reliable. I was ready to move in, and called the day before to get ready. Josh now said that even the Public Storage website price would not be honored because I was an existing customer. The deal kept getting worse! I cancelled. Go into a unit at the Public Storage facility in Carlsbad with your eyes WIDE OPEN, and your hand over your wallet. Get everything in writing and write down the dates, times, and names of everyone you talk to. read more
